Stargazing
The dark used to be one of Amelia's biggest fears as a child. Pitch black night still scared her to this day, but what had helped her overcome the majority of that fear was stargazing. The brunette had often slept with a lamp always on in her room, causing trouble sleeping at night but it was better than the pitch black. Anything could come out of complete darkness, and having parents who were pretty open about the magical world from a very young age, creatures in your imagination could very well be relatively, well, real. Although it wasn't likely they hid under your bed or in your closet at night, the young Lovell girl couldn't help but have these irrational thoughts and feelings.
She had been having trouble once again sleeping, but it was more so because she missed her parents than because of the dark. In fact, she had prided herself on how much more brave she had become after her experiences in the first few months of being at Hogwarts. Rolling around in her dormitory bed for what felt like hours, Amelia finally sat up, pulled her blue duvet covers off the top of her, and let out a sigh of exasperation. Rubbing her dark brown eyes with the base of her palms, the vague sleepy feeling subsided almost completely. Checking the clock she had shaped like an owl above her nightstand, she realized how late it was. Looking around her dorm room, she noticed all her dorm-mates appeared to be fast asleep, seemingly comfortable in their slumbers.
The only thing Amelia could think of that would put her to bed or, at the very least, make her feel comfortable was to stargaze. Going down the moving staircases at night and trying to sneak out onto the grounds was a big no-no, though, and the Ravenclaw, who almost always abided by the rules, didn't want to risk such a thing. Instead, she decided, her next best option would be the Astronomy Tower. Being ever so quiet, the eleven year old slipped on a pair of navy blue fuzzy slippers, a thicker night-robe and disappeared out her dorm, down into the common room and out towards the Astronomy Tower.
It wasn't completely on the other side of the castle, but it did take Amelia quite some time to make it to the tower only because she was trying to be as quiet as humanely possible throughout her trek. It wasn't because she feared being caught, for she wasn't doing anything wrong and had no ill-intentions while she was out and about, but the thought of waking someone or something up along the way. The castle was still full of mysteries to the young Lovell girl, especially around at night. Walking up into the tower, she hoped that it wasn't too cloudy of a night to not see the stars. It was nearing the end of March, so it was still a tad chilly, but they were starting to have their warmer, sunnier days as well, where the sky would open itself up, clearing the clouds away.
Stopping dead in her tracks, the first year student realized there was already a girl standing up here in the tower before her. The coincidence that another girl her age would be doing the exact same thing, at the exact same time was something strange to Amelia and she instantly felt wary. Though the girl looked about her age, the brunette didn't know whether she should fear her tattling or not. "What are you doing up here?" Her tone wasn't intended to sound rude, but the surprise was evident in her voice.
