Book The Damnation of The Silenced

This is really my first real attempt at writing randomly. I hope that this won't be my last post. Wishful thinking probably.

Crimson skies paint the wastes a sickly and thick red. The wind does not howl, nor do creatures squeak, squawk, or growl. The soft crunch of loose earth underfoot echoes like claps of thunder, and it is deafening. Alone in the wastes of sand and obsidian lays a single bastion of civilization. Walls of cracked, blackened and burned wrought iron encapsulate miles and acres. Three circular walls grow more substantial and more significant, the closer they lived to the epicenter. It was a mountain of a human-made metropolis in a sea of red bleached sand and obelisks of light-absorbing crystal. Black rough hune clay homes edged the most exterior wall, looking like small hills more than homes under the forgiving shade that the merciful iron dividers provided. These are the hovels of the Silenced. Within the muddy roads, hundreds lost souls, and heavy hearts moved from one place to the other without sound. There were no words gifted between the ragged Silenced. Only veiled looks between bowed heads are shared. Broken bodies of the benumbed, and muted layered as a backbone of this last bastion in the sands. Upon their backs, seven banners rose high into the everlasting twilight, and mangled metal throne sat betwixt them.

Black silks wrap itself around a veiled woman, a crown of rusted and gnarled vine-like iron twist around her head. Solemnly, she sat upon the dais, which resided in the center of the monolithic city. Her sovereignty was only hers because she had the wherewithal to take it. The Speakers all whispered to others of their click, interspersed with furtive glances towards their high matriarch. Talks of coup d'etat in hushed tones. Only one clan may have power at a time. Within the central castle's dark metal walls, the Speakers meet regularly to curry favor with the queen like rats in a cage. Their pathetic attempts of overly flower speech only left their intentions thinly veiled and muddled. Lost in translation.
