Sheep should not be called sheep.

Ultimately, it's as simple as that. Perhaps you are wondering why. Perhaps you are wondering why am I spending my time debating this. Allow me to elaborate, and soon you will see that this debate is in fact very, very, very logical.

Take a seat. Get comfy.

Ready? Great, let's go.

Let's start with a little quiz. Ready? Awesome.

1. What does a teacher do?

Answer: They teach

2. What does a baker do?

Answer: They bake

3. What does a researcher do?

Answer: They research

4. What does a horse rider do?

Answer: They ride horses

So, what does a shepherd do?

They heard their SHEPS. Not sheep. I don't see a second e there, do you?

No.

I thought not.

Sheep comes from nowhere.
It isn't a sheepherd. It's a shephard.

So, to conclude.

Sheep should not be called sheep.
They should be called sheps.

Because the shepherd herds their sheps.
