His shoulders tightened defensively as the tall kid barked at him in Russian. Some of the Durmstrang students seemed pretty high strung just by the way that they carried themselves, and he was not surprised to have been met with such an angry response. Before he could open his mouth for a rushed second apology, the other boy responded with a chilling smile.
"It's nothing."
Something about that didn't sit right with him. He decided to get away from the embarrassing moment as fast as possible, but before he knew it gravity was plunging him towards the grass as he tripped on the boy's leg, plummeting face first into the earth and skinning up his sunburnt knees and arms. Eyre felt a bit dizzy as he lifted his head from the grass, feeling something drip down his face. His nose was bleeding.
Surely this boy didn't mean to be malicious. He looked up, expecting an apology for accidentally tripping him. Instead, he saw him chatting casually with the girls that he was with. He felt the anger bubbling up inside of him, and before he could stop himself he snapped.
"Prick!" Eyre spat at him as soon as they made eye contact, making sure it was loud enough for him to hear, holding his nose as he hoisted himself up on his wobbling legs. He felt the miniscule scrapes on his skin unearthing the pain of his sunburn that the burn healing cream had gotten rid of, which was met with a wince and a soft groan.
It took all of his will-power to not fight the guy for being so smug, but he was certain that the boy would probably kill him if he got his hands on him. He glared daggers into him as he started to limp off to his sitting area, silently hoping that the brute wouldn't follow him. He'd given his friends, and new acquaintances, enough to stare at that day.
one morning this sadness will fossilize and i will forget how to cry. ☆

Jumping slightly at the unexpected appearance and outburst of none other than his friend Callie Jensen, Elias was relatively quick to compose himself. Despite the newly created pile of sliced carrots at his feet, it was in fact almost impossible to tell that the boy had been fazed at all.
"Oh. Hello Callie, enjoying your celery sticks I see." Ellie quipped, turning his attention to the last one that she seemed to be crunching on as she spoke. Why was she chewing and talking? Had nobody taught her any manners? Although he didn't really expect much more or less from his fellow Ravenclaw, this was simply the way she was. You could learn to love her or simply would have to not be her friend. Not hearing the last part of Callie's words about Eyre talking to someone scary looking the boy turned to point out where he was.
"He's just over there if you want to go-" Before he was capable of finishing his sentence, Eli watched Eyre go sprawling face-first into the dirt. His first instinct was to laugh, but then he realized that probably wasn't very nice. Eyre was his... friend. He couldn't just let that boy bully him, could he? Well, he was quite big, and Elias' father had always advised him not to pick off more than he could chew. Begrudgingly, the boy turned back to Callie. "That was something else...want to go check on him?" He asked, watching as the boy stormed off.

Now open to interactions!
"Someone as pretty as you, Miss Ariana, cannot be something other than an angel,"
Ariana knew that he was messing with her, as he would with other girls, however it wouldn't hurt to play back, it seemed the boy had met his match this time, for Ariana didn't get flattered too easily. However, as other girls swiftly emerged and turned up to crowd around Alexei, she found no point in trying to converse further, he had other girls to entertain him didn't he?
She turned to Lizzie, taking her by the wrist and saying, “Well, we better leave if we don't want to be drowned in his admirers.” She gave a wry smile, turning to walk away just as she heard;
"Anastasia! How lovely to see you again, darling! How have you been? Why didn't you write me and say that you were coming?"
Catching several [although not all] words from the greeting, Ariana turned her head in mild interest. So he already knew someone from hogwarts? Oh dear, it might not have been so great for her to find him in a heap of girls. Ariana giggled laughed in amusement as she turned to greet Ana, however it seemed that Ana wasn't there. Was the boy confused? Maybe she had misheard him, after all, her Russian wasn't perfect, she was bound to hit a few mistakes here or there. She glanced up at him in confusion before deciding that the investigation wasn't worth it. She stepped away, in an attempt to avoid the gaggle of girls and boys alike who were crowding around Alexei. Well Ariana could exactly blame them, he was handsome and charming after all. But she wasn't one to join in with swooning, it wasn't her thing. However, just as she began to take a few steps back, she caught her name again, within his greeting to ‘Ana’
"So, Anastasia, why did you not tell me you had such lovely friends? I suppose that, Miss Ariana and Miss Lizzie, that makes us friends as well, since any friends of Anastasia are friends of mine."
Green hues travelled to where Alexei was addressing Ivy, as Ana? The gryffindor blinked, her grip still on Lizzies wrist, and it was a second before she put two and two together, letting out a shout of laughter and throwing her head back in amusement.
“That's not Ana!” She said between chokes of laughter “My dear Alexei, that's Ivy Bellamy!” Oh what a mishap, Ariana couldn't deny that it was funny, maybe she should have kept quiet; seen how much further things would have progressed, if it wasn't for her interception. Ivy certainly looked baffled, Ariana supposed that she did have slight resemblance to her other fellow gryffindor, Ana. “Why, Alexei I wonder what Ana would think if she had known you had mistaken her for someone else. It seems too many girls can be confusing.” She gave an amused smirk, although the teasing wasn't supposed to be hurtful in any way. She beckoned towards her friend, “Come on Ana, I mean- Ivy” She bit back a laugh, conceding it to a grin as she teased the dark haired girl. “We are going to find more refreshments, you coming?”

Oliver wandered the area, looking around for Erin. They'd hung out more ever since the Secret Ball and he was glad his loneliness diminished yearly, slowly but gradually. It had an effect on his grades too, raising them. Things were getting better for Oliver, so much so that he even made it onto the Quidditch team recently. Due to all this, Oliver was walking with confidence through the crowds, placing hands on students he recognised shoulders as he shuffled past them. In the boys offhand was a paper plate holding a skewer on it. The skewer was just wiener sausages stacked. Beside it was a small puddle of ketchup. Oliver was in search of an eating place he could gorge with space around him.
Bump.
A bump. A small thud against Oliver. It nearly threw him off his feet if he didn't grip a table with a hand and cheek. He looked up only to have his legs turn to jelly for a small moment. It was Dymphna, the person Oliver couldn't see as anything but the most radiant witch in existence. Without any mental preparation, Oliver choked up. Fortunately however, the girl was tending to her pet, giving him enough time to relax and go through a series of decisions in his head. His brain in the short span of time was being overclocked and as he stared at Dymphna (as she looked down at her pygmy), he created a game plan on how to come out this interaction successfully.
"Sorry, Oliver."
Oliver smiled and shook his head. How could he ever blame her?
"How've you been? Are you enjoying your summer so far? You've met Celestina, haven't you?"
Oliver nodded with an open smile,"oh yeah, I've never got to go to one of these summer camps before. It's pretty cool... but yeah, I'm really good! How about you? Got anything cool planned for the summer?" he asked, replying a lot smoother than he would have even just a year ago. He was still freezing up a bit, his limbs going stiff whenever they'd make eye contact.
An overall boost in confidence was what was bringing Oliver to this level. He didn't see himself below Dymphna and the other populars anymore, but merely in a whole different bracket, incomparable. It was how he'd cope with social status norms anyway.
As for Dymphna's pet, he knew the animal by sight but he was unsure if he'd ever been introduced to her. He chose to skim past that bit of the encounter as Oliver wasn't much of an animal person ever since the fatal death of his own school pet on the train to Hogwarts in first year. The scarring memory hugely effected Oliver's fondness of being around animals.
As someone pushed against Oliver to get past, nearly knocking the very weak boy into the table, Oliver chuckled and looked around with pacing eyes. "Hey... maybe let's go somewhere less crowded... to eat, it's claustrophobic here," Oliver suggested, not wanting to be shoved to the floor in front of Dymphna. Besides, they were both keepers for the same team now, they were meant to become friends. Right?
Oliver raised a hand and pointed past Dymphna to a more quiet location. After a moment he noticed in the vicinity of the pointed location there was a couple seemingly making out with each other. He quickly shifted his aim north-west. However now he was pointing to a dark, concealed exit to the area that didn't have anyone near it. Eyes widening, Oliver's finger now had turned 90 degrees from its original destination. "Uh, there...?" he asked weakly, his shaking hand pointing at the steps up to a higher level. They were wide with good space to sit down on without obstructing the stairway. It had light to moderate population.

Seeing the reaction to the two students made it well worth the effort Kateri had put into stashing away some extra sweets. Giving a nod to the Hufflepuff as she chose a side, wisely one might add, Kat waited for the other student's response. Though she was a little rusty with some simple slight of hand to really pull off any No-Maj style tricks and was sure that they were a little too old for the ole 'look what I found behind your ear' routine. Especially the Durmstrang girl, by the look on her face as she went for the only other option left, Kateri could tell it might be best to skip ahead to the goods.
"I was trying not to give them out this early on... but," She drew out the last word before revealing two frozen treats. Literally whatever icecream-popsicle your character would enjoy, I didn't want to have something crummy offered up and ruin the mood. Handing off the goods to each student, the packages already sweating from the outside heat, Kat bent down back into the cooler and pulled one out for herself as well, an orange creamsicle. It always struck her as funny how suddenly something so small like this could strike up such an intense wave of memory. The last time she had shared an ice cream was with her youngest brother back in New York just before leaving for her attempt at "Muggle college." He had fought with her for weeks about going with her, an immensely stubborn child. The thought of him made the corners of her lips turn upwards. It would have been interesting to see how he would have fit in at Hogwarts if he had the ability to go. Pulling off the wrapped and tossing it into the small trash next to the table of veggies, Kat gave a nod to the two and raised the icecream in the air. "To the start of Summer vacation!"

Camaraderie. There was something to be said about social inclusion and feeling that sense of belonging. Although Greta had never really struggled with making friends, per say, it wasn't until she had attended Durmstrang that she really found her circle. At home, Hanzo was often at school, choosing for one reason or another to attend the nearby village's muggle education. Greta had not followed suit. Instead, she had remained home to receive a personalised and trades oriented education from their parents.
No doubt that played heavily into her tendency — at least in part — to dog her brother's steps. In a home and environment lacking in social interactions with those her own age, Hanzo was everything. Her anchor; her security; her inspiration. There was so much for which she was thankful that could be attributed to him. Because of him, she had met the gang. Because of her desire to spend more time with him, she had joined the Quidditch team. Because of that decision, she had met Ella. Something for which, as the taller brunette mirrored Greta's enthusiasm in greeting and returned her hug, she was eternally grateful.
Not even the sharp glare from Nichlas would be enough to dull her smile. Well.. That wasn't entirely correct. Truth be told, Ella's older brother sort of frightened Greta. In a "made her heart thump uncomfortably and the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end whenever he set his steely gaze upon her" sort of way. When he had done so on this occasion, she'd felt the heat of her blood rising to the surface, no doubt colouring her pallid flesh a pretty shade of pink. But the fact that he'd held his tongue and even chosen to acknowledge her presence with the inclination of his chin left her feeling light-headed.
She clung to Ella all the more, at least until her counterpart had released her and the two were approached by others.
"Oh, ehm, hello?" Greta offered to the one who Ella had called Phyllis. "It is.. Ehm.. Nass.. Ehm.. Nice? Nice to the meet you?" Her greeting was quiet, hesitant, words barely audible at times over the business of the surrounding crowd. And if that weren't enough to question whether she could even be understood, the strength of her Norwegian accent surely would.
It was then that a wave in the relative distant caught her attention. From over Phyllis' shoulder, a boy some distance away had been waving. She recognised Milo in an instant. Although her senior by a few years, he was somehow one of the few members of the gang with whom she actually got on well. Her face brightened at the sight of him, and for an instant, she battled with the urge to run over to him. Fortunately, he cut that battle short and eased her decision. The moment she'd raised a hand to wave vigorously back at him, he'd turned away and veered towards some others. She'd have to remember to find him in the crowd later.
"Mn?" The sound of Ella's voice had snapped Greta back from her momentary distraction. "Aw.." she bemoaned when the reasoning for the tent arrangements had been provided. [In Standard Swedish]"It was the same for me. Mama wanted that I made sure to keep an eye on Hanzo and make sure he didn't get into any trouble," she explained. How much of that was actually true, and how much was her deluding herself with half-truth excuses that fed into her need to remain within sight of her brother at all times was another matter entirely. [In Standard Swedish]"Not that it helped," she whined, lips pursed and brows furrowed all over again.
[In Standard Swedish]"Yea.." she sighed after Ella's reassurance that he would show up. "I guess…" Then, with the mention of food, Greta became all too aware that for all her annoyance and distracted resentment, she had worked up quite the appetite. In the wake of an almost painfully grumbling stomach and wetted appetite, she momentarily forgot her ire. Instead, a hopeful gleam glazed her gaze as she piped up with, [In Standard Swedish]"Do you think there's dessert?"
Oh gosh, right, Phyllis. Greta had almost forgotten about the girl's existence. That sudden realisation of just how rude she'd been being to carry on a conversation that excluded the girl (or so she assumed anyway, as she doubted few present could understand) came crashing down like a weight upon her shoulders. As though scolded, she visibly flinched, shrinking slightly as though shying from a blow hanging over her, and flashed the American an apologetic glance. And said nothing more for the time.
It was poor timing then that a somewhat familiar peer, Ashwitz or something, should approach the group then. Greta offered the boy a small wave of her hand, but otherwise remained silent, her gaze flitting uncertainly between those present.
Thankfully, any awkwardness that she might have felt was quickly overshadowed by an absolute ridiculous spectacle of a boy and girl falling apart at the seams right before her eyes. She didn't even need to understand their language to know what was going on. In fact, that might have just helped her to see through it all. Without the distraction of words (or lack thereof as the case may be?), Greta was free to hone in on the sheer awkwardness of the boy's expression, and the way he seemed to choke on words. It was like he wanted to be anywhere other than there and was simultaneously terrified of the girl he was talking to, and also trying just too hard to look impressive.
Naturally, Greta watched them as one might watch the strange mating ritual of a particularly ridiculous looking bird unfolding before her eyes. Slowly, she leaned her head over in Ella's direction and asked, without any consideration to moderate herself, [In Standard Swedish] "Do you think they like each other…?"
And then she promptly straightened as though poked by a cattle prod as first the boy looked straight at her, and then the girl called her out by name. "Was… was I?" she blinked. Greta was what? Had they understoo—. Oh, no. Maybe not? "It is.. Nice to meet you… also?" Came the careful and somewhat mumbled reply.
She still wasn't quite sure what had just happened and why they'd suddenly cut from their conversation to jumping on them. And the way the girl was grinning was… confusing. Although as she turned to seek reassurance from Ella and saw the smile reflected in the face of her friend as well, she couldn't help but wonder if she had missed something. She promptly put on a smile so as not to appear the odd one out. Although she didn't take the offered hand, instead eyeing it somewhat sceptically. At home, they offered kisses on their cheeks, not handshakes. [In Standard Swedish]"Does she… does she want something?" she whispered to Ella.
In her confusion, the raven-haired girl asked something, but Greta didn't catch it. Then there was a volley of comments from the word-vomiting boy and then the American. Evidently something seemed to have been decided as some of them began to part ways and head towards the food areas where some of them seemed to look expectantly at the adults and hand them food to be placed over the glowing coals. Greta's stomach grumbled once again. She tried to silence it with the folding of her hands over her abdomen.
She was eyeing the delicious looking food options when Phyllis started speaking. And then didn't stop. Greta had turned, trying to listen to what she had to say, managing to catch "Quidditch" and a couple other words that weren't nearly sufficient to make sense of whatever it was that she was saying. And still saying. Oh goodness, the words didn't stop. Very quickly, Greta's eyes began to widen as the tirade of hastily spoken gibberish washed over her like a tsunami leaving her very much disoriented and lost at sea. Seafoam eyes flicked to Nichlas, catching the word "sister".
And somehow, somewhere, in the midst of them moving and conversing (could it be called conversing if she understood little, and spoke even less?), two other girls had arrived. One had appeared stealthily, just sort of arriving out of nowhere amongst their numbers. The other had announced her presence like a herald to at a party. This time, Greta was quite sure she was missing some sort of joke, as the moment the latter one had joined their numbers and turned her gaze on the little Norse-girl, she'd broken out into a wide grin. Greta met her over-enthusiasm with unbridled confusion.
"Ehm… My… my name is Greta? Nice it is to meet you?" She was pretty comfortable with that sentence now. With how many times she had introduced herself, that, at least, was flowing pretty easily now.
But then, to Ella, she added desperately, [In Standard Swedish]"Ella, I have no idea what they're saying. They're talking much too fast. Heeeelp." She flicked her gaze towards Nichlas, and then her friend, before setting it back on the others as though half-expecting an attack at any second. [In Standard Swedish]"Are they making fun of us?"

Be cool. Forcefully relaxing once more, he sat up just enough that he wasn't looking so slumped over like the teenage hooligan he truly was and lazily looked on over.
"Hi... I'm Bloom Silverton,"
English time. God, he hated the switch over to English, it always made him feel dumb. Didn't matter if he was fluent.
"Crowds aren't your thing either, huh?"
"Eh, it depends." Bloom seemed pleasant enough. "Though I don't think I've seen a pretty face like you before, are you from er-" Definitely not a Durmstrang student. most Durms had a certain type of icy half-stoicness to them, a certain type of hardness borne in the cold and militaristic education system offered. Oh yeah, and they wouldn't have that very native-sounding accent to them. Of all those things listed, even our class clown of a kid wasn't excluded. Different levels, but still there. He's heard that things like that stuck with you, no matter how old you got.
Didn't sound American- though most of his American accent exposure was from old movies stacked neatly away in his grandfather's entertainment room and the occasional funny quip by his lackeys, seeking to make the group laugh and the professor go red in the face.
Just go for it, Johann, c'mon. Your brain works too fast sometimes, don't overthink it. "Hogwarts? M'name's Johannes-" Wait, no. Last name? Bloom did the same. "Johannes Ambroży. Nice to meet you." He didn't think that any sort of proper greeting would be necessary- after all, Bloom hadn't stretched out a hand for a handshake, for a hand-kiss. Nothing.
A heavy thud against the floor followed by a spiteful huff of anger- Johannes' entire point of view swerved with a single head turn towards the sound and ouch, was that blood? "Prick!" Damn, that's rough buddy. How did you- An outstretched leg, oh Alexei you nasty bugger. A pang of half-sympathy went through him as he watched the kid stand up unsteadily and stomp away on a limp, practically fuming at the nonchalance that his schoolmate exuded. Keyword: half, because even as a low wince escaped him at the humiliating sight, Johannes was a selfish boy and didn't really have any plans to confront the situation. Now if the pseudo-mulleted boy had been one of his lackeys, one of his 'friends', literally anyone he gave half a damn about, maybe it would have been different. Surprisingly, it didn't seem like many people really noticed, too engrossed in their own conversations.
Hm. Coming back to his own interaction with one Miss Bloom Silverton, he didn't really know what else to say. Quite usually if some stranger went up to him, they wanted something or another- but this wasn't Durmstrang, where he ran around the grounds with his followers in tow, a new face every so often in the crowd. Or Frankfurt, where his entire presence was of responsibility- running errands, exploring and generally showing off that yes, the Saur line did have an heir, and no, as much as he dressed like a lower class, he was just as good as the rest, to all that mattered. A smooth talker he might be by birth, but even a smooth talker needs a basis to continue talking.

Milo blinked slowly trying to register everything he just said. Before he could process his thoughts the new girls to which he had spoken to started talking to him which took him by surprise. He let out a small breath when she did confirm that he was at the BBQ. Sure he could smell the food but that didn't necessarily mean he was in the right place. She then asked if he was from Durmstrang. The blonde nodded his head slowly. "I am yes, I am a Third year there, you are definitely a Hogwarts student no? What year are you?" The boy decided to continue the conversation to see where it would go. He was comfortable with small talk but hoped he wouldn't make it too awkward.
Milo heard a call from somewhere and whipped his head around quickly to see where the voice came from. His eyes scanned the crowd of people until he saw a boy, Maksim was his name? Ah who knows he looked familiar and he obviously knew his name. The boy slightly blushed at the compliment and gave a shy wave back before returning his attention to the group of girls he had just met. A second girl from the group chimed in, her name was Sky which he thought was pretty. "Ah that is a pretty name, you are the sky of which the sun and clouds occupy above us." He hummed out his thought and then paled a bit thinking it sounded cheesy.
The third girl stayed rather quiet but he did feel her curious eyes on him before she decided to wander off. He shrugged not getting to know the mystery girl's name but returned his focus to Sky. "Ah really you would want to show me around? I don't know most of this food it is very different, what are your recommendations?" The curly haired blonde bounced excitedly, almost grabbing her arm to drag her off but realized that wasn't nice to do to a person he had just met. Before he could continue he sent a wave back over his shoulder to Carolyn, figuring he'd have to catch up with her later. She had a calm spirit and seemed nice hopefully he would see her around more throughout the time he was here.
He then thought back to Maksim calling him over earlier and wondered if she and Sky would like to meet a few of his schoolmates. "Would you like to meet some of my fellow Durmstrang friends? They don't bite we are all fairly nice or at least the people I associate myself with.." Milo was obviously warming up to them now, since he only rambled when he was feeling more comfortable with the people and the atmosphere around him. His personality almost seemed to match the weather or it depended on what the people around him were like. A small smile appeared on his face causing his dimples to show. What a nice, sunny day to spend at the Hogwarts BBQ and meet new friends.

Carolyn couldn’t believe her eyes. At Hogwarts, she had trouble catching interest of a single individual, but here she was suddenly talking to three people all at once. Maybe I did make a right decision to come here after all. She thought happily. Perhaps students were just generally more relaxed and willing to mingle without the stress of classes or the ever-present curtain of doom that hang over their school. “Yes, we are from Hogwarts,” she confirmed Milo’s suspicions with a friendly smile. “Just crossing the bridge between the first and second year,” she added afterwards not really sure, which year she should count herself as. Technically, she already graduated from the first year but the beginning of the second was still almost two months away.
Unfortunately, Carolyn’s initial excitement from being able to achieve a proper human interaction was quite short lived. Nell was the first person to go or, more accurately, disappear in the crowd. This was the second time her fellow Ravenclaw didn’t feel like staying after Carolyn initiated conversation with her and she would be lying if she said it didn’t sting a little. Obviously, her classmate was incredibly shy and probably just didn’t want to hang around the bigger group of people but that was not how Carolyn’s brain interpreted it. Usually, she was extremely patient and rational person but when it came to social interaction, she tended to overthink everything. It required a lot of energy for her to take the initiative and approach someone so any failed attempt took a heavy toll on her. Especially when it came to her confidence. If she could even call it that.
Sky on the other hand obviously didn’t have similar issues. She seemed pretty outgoing, at least for Carolyn’s standards, which was precisely why she eventually disappeared as well…taking the Durmstrang student with her. “Enjoy the exploring! See you later Sky,” she waved at the pair, making sure to look cheerful enough. She was not someone to show any kind of negative emotion on the outside, except maybe anger if there was a considerable injustice going on. Probably not very healthy approach but very fit for her heritage. It also meant she didn’t have to talk about her feelings. A bit weird, considering the fact that she was always eager to listen to other people’s troubles.
With nothing better to do, the young witch finally bit into her skewer. It wasn’t as good as she expected. Although, perhaps it wasn’t fair to blame the food. She looked around to see whether she could spot any friendly face or well…at least the not so friendly one that would belong to her other tentmate. To her dismay however, Calanthe was nowhere to be seen. Well, she said she wasn’t coming so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Dee gave Alan a brilliant smile and let go of her friends to shake his hand. "Nice to meet you, Alan!" she repeated. "The game?" She blinked, a little blank, then lit up with realisation. "Oh, you mean the Quidditch game against Durmstrang?"
From all the activities at this camp, the game was by far the one she was looking forward to the least. Quidditch didn't interest her, never had. Part of it was her dislike for flying, for having no ground beneath her feet and nothing to hold on to but this slender stick of wood, part was that she just didn't understand the hype. It was a ridiculously imbalanced game - 150 points for catching the Snitch? - and there were just a lot more exciting things she could see herself doing instead of sitting somewhere in the audience to cheer on fourteen people throwing balls at each other. But, well, to each their own, she supposed. "I'm sure that'll be fun. I'm also really looking forward to the Chess Combat event! Any of you going to that?"
Distracted by Aida's question, Dee turned to smile at her friend. "Yes, definitely! I'm not gonna miss that chance - you know I've been dying to go ever since you told me about it. I mean, my dad hasn't fully agreed yet, but my mum's on board, so I know I'll get him, too. Oh, and Ileen is coming, I told you that, right?"
In that moment, her stomach gave her a very audible reminder that lunch had been, well, too many hours ago. The air was warm and adrift with mouthwatering scents, and suddenly, Dee was starving. "Anyone want to go grab some food with me?" she asked, smiling brightly.
Being in the company of her friends always gave Dee a burst of warm energy, and this time was no different.
