Yes, blood status needs to be changed to Pureblood; this is due to a technicality in Squibs from pureblood family (see Character Page).

Character Special Race/Talent:
Special talent: Seer

Author’s note: I feel like this trait would suit Solis well, and would integrate brilliantly with her current trait of ‘obsession with justice’. What if that ‘obsession’ is actually due to her having ‘intuitions’ of the past/future, which led to her ‘knowing’ something is wrong with the conclusion most people have gone with; thus making her uncomfortable and mad that everyone doesn’t realise they are misled. Moreover, a history of having these ‘intuitions’ can also feed into her fear of wrongfully ‘judging’ others, even if she didn’t exactly have a vision/intuition about that specific incident.
(For trait origin, more backstory is explained in the Family section of the Encyclopaedia; though it will also be touched on here.)

Application
Reducio
Solis’s inherited Seer ability first manifested in early childhood, although neither she nor her family initially recognised it for what it was. Unlike the clear prophetic visions commonly associated with Seers, her Gift expressed itself primarily through intuition; an inexplicable certainty that something had happened differently from how others believed, an unsettling familiarity/Deja-vu with events that had yet to occur, or sometimes a persistent sense that some important detail had been overlooked.

These impressions were rarely accompanied by explanations. Solis might know that an accusation was mistaken without knowing who was actually responsible, or feel apprehensive about an otherwise ordinary event even without understanding what might actually happen. Occasionally she’d have brief dreams or impressions that doesn’t make any sense until much later, and sometimes nothing ever happened at all either. She couldn’t really distinguish ‘foresight’ from imagination, ordinary suspicion, or the conclusions of her own subconscious reasoning; especially when no one suspected of her being a Seer yet, everything was lumped into a simple explanation of her having ‘good intuition’. (Though her mother definitely started keeping notes, partly out of concern and partly because she was a Frostwood and could hardly be expected not to.)

This had had a significant influence on her developing personality. Throughout childhood, Solis repeatedly encountered situations in which her intuitions contradicted what everyone around her accepted as fact, and being too young and unable to articulate why she disagreed was immensely frustrating, particularly when adults dismissed her concerns simply because she couldn’t offer satisfactory explanations. The incident with the stolen sweets when she was six was one such occasion. She had been convinced that the accused child hadn't taken them, though she couldn't have said why (see FIOM for more details).

She wasn’t always right either. When she was seven, she passed the greenhouse one morning and had a tickling feeling that something was wrong with it. She couldn't have said what; everything looked perfectly ordinary, but the feeling bothered her enough that she went back to check later that afternoon. This time, she found a broken window and a boy standing beside it. Immediately convinced that he’d broken it, she confronted him and the resulting argument became quite unpleasant quickly. He had, in fact, not broken the window. A branch had fallen against the glass just as he walked past and he’d only just stopped to look at it. Solis was right that something was wrong with the greenhouse, but her intuition never actually told her someone was responsible for it; she jumped to that conclusion herself. The boy was understandably furious with her afterwards, and stomped away before she could apologise, leaving Solis to have the unpleasant realisation that she’d done much the same thing she’d once been so angry with her teacher for doing: she had decided what actually happened before bothering to find out the truth.

A more upsetting incident happened when she was nine, where Solis had dreamed that one of her mother’s research associates kneeling beside an unconscious colleague, his wand raised, in a room full of broken equipment. Although she did not remember the exact dream and brushed it off as simply peculiar, several weeks later an accident occurred during an experiment at the Frostwood Laboratory and Solis walked in on almost that exact scene. Frightened and convinced that she’d seen him attack the other researcher, she told the investigating Aurors what she know, unknowingly mixing in some details that she hadn’t really ‘seen’ with her eyes. There was already reason to suspect him before, and Solis insisted she was certain of her testimony. She’d watched the Aurors take him away, still protesting his innocence, and remembered feeling relieved that they’d believed her. However, he was released the following morning. The investigation had found that the incident was in fact caused by a piece of malfunctioned equipment, and he had actually been trying to help his injured colleague. He was kind afterwards, and even when Solis had apologised she couldn’t forget the look on his face when they’d arrested him. Her mother explained, in an effort to comfort her after seeing her white face and horrible appetite the following days, that the Aurors had made their own decisions and that Solis hadn’t been responsible for the investigation. She understood that, more or less; but it didn’t change the fact that she’d been so sure, and that she’d been wrong.

Incidents like these accumulated throughout her childhood. Some ‘intuitions’ turned out to be true and surprisingly accurate, others resulted in nothing, and occasionally she’d be right about a particular detail while being completely wrong about everything else. It left her with a rather complicated relationship with her own instincts and made her increasingly wary of her own assumptions. She was inclined to trust them because they’d proved useful before, but she also know how easily she’d convince herself of something that wasn’t true with that kind of logic. As she got older, she became increasingly particular about, especially when someone’s reputation or punishment was involved; she could spend copious amount of time questioning a conclusion everyone else had already accepted, simply because she was unsatisfied about whether they had considered other alternatives, and also afraid of falsely accusing someone again.

Of course, this doesn’t make her immune to jumping to conclusions; she is still a kid after all. Solis could be terribly stubborn once she thought she’d worked something out, and being proved right often enough hadn’t helped; she’s willing to change her mind if provided with enough evidence, but the amount of evidence needed is certainly not specified. Her parents occasionally had to remind her that disagreeing with a conclusion did not automatically make her correct either.

For years, nobody thought to connect all these incidents to a particular magical Gift. The Frostwood family had produced witches and wizards with unusual abilities (including Seers) before, and childhood accidental magic was hardly uncommon. Aurelia's notes remained inconclusive, especially since many of Solis's impressions were too vague to verify, while others only made sense in hindsight. It would take several more years before the possibility of Second Sight was seriously considered. (Around Year 1)

By then, Solis had already developed habits of questioning what she was told, looking for evidence others had overlooked, and worrying rather more than most children about the possibility of condemning someone who had done nothing wrong. It was one thing to have a feeling that somebody was lying or that an accusation was wrong. It was quite another to decide what to do about it, especially when she couldn't be certain that the feeling had told her the whole story.

Character Backstory:

(Question for staff: I am not sure what counts within the 2k word limit, or if I need to paste every section from the encyclopaedia into this post, as I also have a large section of Family history written there.)

Reducio
Solis is an only child who grew up in a household where centuries-old magical manuscripts were considerably more common than expensive furniture, and where the question of whether something was dangerous generally led to further investigation rather than immediate disposal.

Her mother, Aurelia Frostwood, is a pureblood witch who came from a long line of scholars, researchers, experimentalists, and the occasional Dark witch/wizard. Her father, in contrast, is a ‘Muggle-born’ who was familiar with Muggle life, having grown up unaware that his parents were, in fact, Squibs from pureblood families who had been kicked out and disowned. By ancestry, Solis is therefore pure-blood; however, though the family have their suspicions, they do not yet have proof of her paternal grandparents’ origins.

Her childhood was otherwise ordinary. Solis went to a Muggle school prior to Hogwarts, and led a relatively normal mixed magical-Muggle life. She ran around fields, read whatever caught her attention, and often returned home with something peculiar in her pockets. Between her parents, Solis became familiar with both the Muggle and the magical worlds (e.g., Diagon Alley), though she had little exposure or understanding of wizarding politics.

One distinctly abnormal feature of her childhood was her unfortunate habit of ingesting poisonous plants. Following an early incident involving aconite and belladonna, which left her parents terrified and resulted in an emergency visit to St Mungo’s, it was discovered that Solis has an unusual tolerance to certain toxins, hypothesised to be linked to her magic.

Her mother subsequently became rather interested in studying the phenomenon, while her father watched on with increasing concern and exasperation. Over time, the family have gotten used to Solis’s ‘special’ palate, and poisonous meals even occasionally grace the dinner table. Visitors were warned not to eat from Solis’s plate.

First Instance of Magic:

Reducio
At 6, Solis made every container in her (muggle school) classroom fly open: bags and pockets and pencil cases unzip and contents all flew out. The MoM went and obliviated the muggles after the aftermath; Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, Muggle Excuse Team etc..

The incident that preceded this: there's a packet of lollies that disappeared from a kid’s bag, and someone found a wrapper under another kid’s chair. As such, everyone thought that they ate it; but they defended themselves and said that they didn't steal it. However, that did absolutely nothing; especially when the teacher told them to stop lying without actually checking for evidence. Solis got increasingly upset after everyone ignored her questions of how'd they know without proof, she blurted out "but you haven't even looked!"; then all the containers flew open all at once and the stolen lollies fell out of a different kid's pocket.

Character Backstory: Born to a pair of muggle parents with no family connection to the wizarding world, his early life was painfully mundane, at least to most wizards. His parents were kind and loving, though his father did more to support and encourage him whilst his mother was more of a fuss and a nag, but it came from affection. He never had any siblings, and life on the edge of the small City of Salisbury was everything a young boy could ask for. The comfort and convenience of a beautiful historic city to one side, rolling hills, farms and woods to the other.

His family was more than comfortably off, but not rich. They were the kinds of people who had nice cars, sent their boy to a good school, and went abroad every year. Not private planes and pools. His father was well to do accountant and his mother had been an HR worker before becoming a housewife and the family was rounded off by a particularly energetic and goofy pair of black Labradors, which seemed to be more slobber than dog. Edmund is still slightly heartbroken that he had to leave them behind.

Outside of school, where he consistently did well, usually trading places for top of his class with his rival since the age of 4. He was a dedicated, and slightly too keen cub scout. Relishing in badges, parades, jamborees and weekend long camps.

His slightly competitive streak expressed itself not just through competing for the top spot in class and the most badges in the pack. But also indulging in every kind of strategy game he could find. It started with chess and Nine Men's Morris. It only grew from there, to card games and even kriegsspiel! A hobby rarely indulged in by anyone under 40, but which combined his love of strategy and history. Even if the somewhat bemused middle ages and older men who dominated the hobby had to very patiently induct him in to it, and tolerate the occasional childish error.

He had been rather looking forward to the life he thought he was going to have, even if he was still working out what he was going to do with it. But when the letter from Hogwarts came, hand delivered by a member of staff who had some aptitude at explaining matters to muggles, everything rapidly spiralled. Everything that was certain, was uncertain, and Edmund needs to find his feet again before any sense of normalcy and his old confidence returns. Fortunately children are better able to cope with these changes. But his parents, they were another matter. They took the most convincing. It took time, a lot of time, but eventually his father was persuaded. What really sealed the deal was when Edmund himself said he wanted to go, even though he was not happy that his world had just collapsed, he had stepped out of Plato's Cave. He could never step back in. So after as many assurances of safety as a Hogwart's professor could truthfully give, Edmund's father agreed.

His mother was a harder sell, convinced it was a lie, or a scam, or someway of stealing children. The memory of his parent's raised voices coming through the closed kitchen door, as the professor tried to distract him with talk of wands and spells, is fresh in Edmund's mind. His parents had disagreed before of course, but this was the first time he could recall them properly arguing. He could not make out what was said, he only knows that eventually his father won. His father alone came out of the kitchen to tell Edmund they supported his decision to go. When the time came for them both to wave him off, his mother cried like she was watching her boy go off to fight the Great War, not go to school.

First Instance of Magic: His first use of magic came when he was eight years old. He was taking part in a regional interschool chess tournament for under 10s, and was doing quite well. But as he reached the final rounds, he realised that he had been cornered into a losing position. Defeat in private was one thing. But to lose in front of the teachers, his parents, and his fellow students was quite another. As the game reached its conclusion he struggled more and more to keep his embarrassment and upset in check. Two moves away from checkmate, as his cheeks flushed red and he fought back the welling in his eyes, the sprinklers suddenly went off and the fire alarm rang. Despite there being no sign of a fire anywhere. As the building was evacuated the game was clean forgotten. Little did he know, this was the result of magic, rather than coincidence.

Character Special Race/Talent:None, but I would like the Perfectionist ability if I can already have it. I've put it in my trunk with a comment for now, and am willing to remove it if I misunderstood that I'm allowed to take an ability already.

As for the reason why she would have it, is because of her upbringing. It was not a kind household or childhood, and, to endure it and even thrive in it as she has, she would have needed to become very disciplined. While she has yet to cast any magic, my idea is that her discipline would carry over and be showcased in her perfectionism for spellcasting.
Character Backstory: Sophia is a daughter of a family which considers itself extremely prestigious, in spite of not being part of the Sacred 28, and, in general, not really relevant for the Wizarding World at large. She was taught that excellence is to be expected and that failure will lead to being disowned from the family. An idle threat, considering how much society has progressed in the past century, and how poorly a family would be seen for abandoning a child, but one that hangs over her shoulders nonetheless. She was raised having to fight for the love, affirmation and care of parents and older siblings alike. At times she even had to fight for their acceptance, and thus it has led to a complicated, difficult childhood. Even so, she was provided for, and, so long as she listened, which she very much did, she did get to feel loved and proud. It is an abusive way to raise a child, but it is a veiled abuse that the girl did not truly feel. She never felt unhappy, or mistreated, but at the same time she has never known unconditional love and care.

Still, she grew up with her future chosen for her. She is expected to go to hogwarts, excel in her education, find a prestigious job at the Ministry of Magic, marry a son of another respectable wizarding family, and then build a family with them. She does not understand the implications of having such expectations laid upon her, but, at the time of her receiving admission letter, she is rather proud and happy to have a laid out plan for her future. It made her feel like her parents believe in her, and it is everything to her. Naturally, once she learns what life truly is like, and discovers who she truly is, and what she truly wants, she will feel conflicted about it. But, for now, she is given a purpose and it gives her a lot of courage to tackle her first year at Hogwarts. She is, in her own way, happy, and looks forward to begin her studies.
First Instance of Magic: Her first instance of magic happened when she was only 5, she tripped over an untied shoelace while running and, while she was crying from the pain, her magical energy tied the shoelace for her as her parents arrived to see what had happened. This led to her being spared a scolding.

Character Backstory: (255 i think) I was born in France but my family moved to Edinburgh when I was 4 because my dad found a new job in Scotland. He works with magical creatures. When we went out into the wilderness, he would show me lots of creatures. My mom is a healer and she is a muggle-born while my dad is a half-blood. My dad's name is Auguste and my mom's name is Charlotte. They met and fell in love at Beauxbatons. My family has a pet dog named Bonbon which means candy in French, I will miss my dog when I go to Hogwarts. Growing up, my dad took me to concerts when he was not working. I learned to love lots of genres of music. Classical music is one of my favorites which might seem funny but it is true. It calmed me down when i was younger. My house is in a wizard community in Edinburgh and I liked riding toy brooms in the streets. I also listened to music with the wizarding radio. I can speak French but not fluent. The volcanic places around Edinburgh were very cool as a child and even now and I sometimes picked up little pieces of the volcanic rock, though not too much to be against the rules. I like collecting lots of things like collecting flowers from forests and the shells and pretty rocks from the beach too. I loved going on walks with Bonbon and my family and we had a great time.

First Instance of Magic: On my 6th birthday, I was running up and down the stairs around the house because I was very excited about my friends coming for my birthday party. I slipped on the carpet and fell, and I was so scared but I bounced all the way down the stairs and landed safely. My family was very glad I did not get hurt and my party was even better

At this age, she didn’t know that her greatgreatgrandmother have had the same talent. From her relative, she only knew the name, but she disclaim the story. Some years later, when she was nine, she discovered something about this ability of her relative from a family story where the Parselmouth was mentioned.

Charlotte was born in a magical part of London with her parents and older sister, which she has a good relationship. She grew up surrounded by the wizarding community, so she has not have relation with muggle community. Her childhood was shaped by magical traditions, and she was familiar with the customs and culture of the wizarding world from an early age. Although she is shy around strangers, she enjoys spending time outdoors with people she knows. She hopes Hogwarts will help her become more confident and outgoing. Her parents hold strong anti-Muggle beliefs and raised her with those views, also they dislike Muggle-born witches and wizards. Moreover, her father was a Ravenclaw who remembers the Battle of Hogwarts and occasionally tells stories about how frightening that night was. Related to her education, she has been a homeschool student, her teacher-parents teach her all the basic topics recommended by the Ministry to comprise a suitable and adequate education for young magical children. Moreover, she has learned by some Ministry number of books and supplies that exist for homeschooling students, which help him having a education similar to the school ones. Charlotte enjoyed this way of learning because it was “co-op”, so she mets other younger wizard and witches students like her. She enjoys social history, from the curriculum of Pre-Hogwarts, mainly mythology part.

Suddenly, every window in the room opened at once, and a strong wind entered in the house, making papers and some objects fly. She hadn't intended to use magic, she was completely unaware that she can do it. At first, she felt confused caused by the commotion. Once she realised what had happened, her confusion change to a fear feeling. Her parents quickly try to convince her that she was safe and explained that magic sometimes emerges unexpectedly in young witches and wizards. Although she was shaken, their parents reaction calmed her, but increased her curiosity about the strange abilities she had.
