Class Partners PV: Henry Knight Closed

Henry asked her what she wanted to talk about and she really had no idea. She wasn't good with conversations and so when he asked she wasn't sure how to answer. Tallis was quiet for some time, tapping her pencil slightly on her sketchbook and biting her cheek, deep in thought. "I...I um... am n...not really s...sure," she stuttered out, playing with a strand of her hair to help calm her nerves. She sighed slightly, this was why you don't try and make to nervous and socially awkward people try and talk especially when they have never talked to each other before.

"S...sorry," she apologized quietly. She wasn't really sure why she said sorry but for some reason she felt like she needed to. He seemed nice but that didn't mean she could just suddenly start talking to him eve if it would be nice to talk. She twirled her pencil in her hand trying to think of something, anything to say or talk about. Maybe she could ask him about his family, or were he grew up. she thought as she looked at her sketchbook. Then again maybe that would make things to awkward or maybe it was just to private. She bit her cheek, thinking hard.

After hearing his desk mate didn't know what to talk about either, Henry bit his lip a bit while he looked around the room to see classmates goofing off and joking around with ease among themselves. Henry shook his leg at thought of having a conversation with someone or joking around with them at such as ease, so he said glanced Tallis as thoughts started to enter and form into his mind, as they started to spiral around his head he became more worried and nervous that he might say or do something wrong if he started off their conversation.

What should I say, should I say anything or just stay quiet? Tallis said herself that she's also nervous and doesn't know where to start when it comes to talking to someone else so maybe I should I start but what if I say something that makes her more nervous or upsets her or something like that? Ugh, bloody hell what should I do? How is this consider easy among some people, talking is probably one of the most important social skills and it's extremely hard, ok just breath then start off with a nice breaker like what Eyre did back on the train.

Henry took a deep breath then said quietly and nervously " what about we uh get to know each other a bit since we don't really know each other that much," Henry paused and took another deep breath before continuing " um, I lived in a village that is close to godric hollow with my older brother, twin sister, and father. Uh, I enjoy reading and probably did to much of it since I don't have any social skills, what about you Tallis?"

After some time of the two just being quiet, Henry started to speak. He told her about where he grew up and who he grew up with. She noticed he didn't say mother so she wondered if maybe, like her, he never had one, she had left, or if his mother had passed away. She didn't want to pry though, remembering the one time when she was younger she brought it up for a kid her age and she got slapped. Henry then said he enjoyed reading and then asked her about herself.

She bit her cheek in thought and decided she might as well tell him about herself. "I...I grew u...up in Lon...London with m...my dad and...," she paused, people usually thought it was odd when she had two dads," and f...father." "I en...enjoy drawing and r...reading," she told him, playing with a strand of her hair to calm her nerves. She thought she was doing well and kinda hoped that he was one of the few people who didn't think her having two dads was weird.

Her dad used to say that she could call him mom because he understood that some people thought it odd but he was her dad just like her father was her father. She loved them and it hurt her every time someone said it was wrong.

After hearing Tallis reply, Henry smiled a bit while he tapped his hand on his knee and spoke " that cool that you draw, are you any good?" Henry could feel his nerves easing but still felt panicked so he looked around to see more of his classmates done with the assignment and now talking or joking among each other, many of them now were in groups as the volume began to grow but he saw a few of his classmates alone reading or doing homework. Henry side glanced Tallis as he waited for her to answer him, that's kind of cool that she has two dad's maybe I should say it or maybe I should not because not if she takes offense to that, or something. Henry bit his lip a bit as he shook his legs and tapped his hand on his knee, he looked over at Tallis and took a deep breath before saying " that's cool that you have two father's. That must be nice to have more than one parent, there's definitely more advantages to have two parents. Like if one goes away for a week, you still have the other. My father goes away all the time for ministry business and leaves my sibling's and I alone for weeks at a time sometimes but he doesn't have a choice since my mum... my mum...uh forget it."

When Henry asked her if she was any good at drawing she was about to answer when he brought up her having two dad's. She bit her cheek ready to hear something bad when she heard him say that it's cool and that it must be nice to have two parents. He talked about his father and then his mother but quickly stopped talking about her. She looked over at Henry, waiting just in case he was going to talk more but he didn't so she prepared herself to start talking.

"I...I'm not a gr...great drawer b...but my d...dad let's me h...help out in h...his shop," she told him, playing with the pages of her sketchbook, "he r...runs a sm...small art sh...shop." She never personally considered herself a great artist but the fact that her dad let her help gave her a bit more confidence. "My pa...parents try to b...be a...around a lot b...but they c...can be busy a...at their j...jobs, wh...which is why I...I don.t h...have any s...siblings, I d...don't m...mind th...though," she stuttered out, playing with a strand of her hair to help try and calm her nerves. She looked at Henry and noticed that he looked a little more relaxed then he had been.

Henry listened to her and smiled, he turned to see that she was still nervous and got a but more nervous himself as a million thoughts started to formed and spiral around the young Slytherin's mind. Is she nervous because of me, did I say it did something wrong? Maybe I shouldn't have asked about her family or art or maybe I shouldn't have said anything? Bloody hell this is extremely never wrecking maybe I should ask the professor to be excused but then would Tallis think if doing that because I don't like her or want to get away from her. Ugh how do I do this or what do I do, I just want to have a normal conversation with her but my mind is saying no and my body feels like it will humiliate me.

Henry held his hands together on the desk while his leg continued to shake, and he bit his lip from nerves before clearing his throat again from nerves and saying " that's cool, do you still draw through here at Hogwarts? If not then what do like to do here at Hogwarts, uh I mostly read and take photographs with this muggle camera that I have, I found taking muggle photos that don't move like the wizarding ones takes more practice and it's also relaxing." Henry paused and bit his lip again from nerves beforeing continuing " I don't have many but I also like to hang out with friends, and even with my nerves I still enjoy making new ones."

Henry asked her if she still draws here at the school and told her that he takes photos with a muggle camera. She was still getting used to non-magical people being called muggles, they were just normal people to her. They couldn't do actual magic but there were plenty of muggles who where still magical in a way, just like her parents. She decided not to think much about that and instead just answer Henry. "I...I still dr...draw here," she told him, picking up her sketchbook, " I br...bring my sk...sketchbook every...everywhere." She flipped through the pages of her notebook and then looking back up at Henry.

"M...My dad likes to t...take ph...photographs, we o...only have m...muggle cameras so I d...didn't know th...there were m...moving pictures un...until coming h...here," she told him, nervously playing with a strand of her hair, "I mean... we h...have videos w...which are ba...basically moving pi...pictures te...technically." She had grown up in the muggle world, so to her everything here was odd and different while for a lot of students here they saw things like this all the time. To some of the people who lived in the magical world, her regular life was weird and odd. It was a bit strange if she really thought about it but, then again, everyone was different.

Henry listened to her and while he was still nervous he got a idea, just how to say it was the challenging part. He started to take quick calming breaths as he tapped his knee with left hand before holding onto both knees with his hands he then let his hair cover his eyes as he angled his head down a bit. Henry bit his lip and looked over at Tallis before looking back at the ground, He took a shaky hand and pushed his hard back as he turned to face Tallis while placing is arms on the desk.

Henry cleared his throat nervously then said " so since you grew up in the muggle world and I grew up in the wizarding one then what about you tell me about the muggle one and I tell you about the wizarding one. Since you probably have questions about a few wizarding things and I may have questions about a few muggle ones." Henry paused as he smiled a nervous smiled before continuing" Since I grew up in the wizarding world, I knew of magic but my father while he always goes away on ministry business leaving me and my siblings we learn to do a few muggle things but not like use those muggle screens or stuff like that. Just like muggle healing, cooking, and even cleaning which wasn't too bad that's probably how I got into muggle photography, what about you Tallis?"
