Class Partners PV: Henry Knight Closed

Henry sat hanging on to every word the professor muttered, he was always interested in knowledge and learning which led many to question how he was a slytherin instead of a ravenclaw. When the professor announced to the class to partner up, Henry gulped at the thought, ok I can do this wait no I can't ugh this is bloody terrible why can't I just work alone, Henry eyed around the class to see most partner up with the table mates or friends and while Henry didn't have many friends in his first year at Hogwarts he sat anxiously and nervously on his chair in the front of the class.

Slytherin and Hufflepuff had a class together and Henry didn't know any hufflepuff's yet, mostly because he couldn't talk to anyone else besides his best and only friend; Cricket who was a gryffindor so Henry was silently panicking as everyone was picking partners. "H...Hello, I g...guess we a...are partners," said a voice from besides him, Henry slightly turned to his right to see a girl, an hufflepuff guessing be her robes, with one green eye showing the other seemed to be covered by her hair.

Henry gulped slightly and shook his hand below the desk as he stared at her, unsure how he should response as he just nodded quickly. He could feel the sweat on the back of his neck as he muttered "yep, I guess so... uh I'm Henry." He introduced himself quickly before turning back to his notebook to begin their work, as his legs begun to shake from nerves and his neck begin to sweat even more.

The Slytherin boy turned to her and introduced himself, telling her that his name was Henry. She watched as he quickly turned back to his notebook to start working. She could tell he was nervous, sensing how he was slightly shaking from nerves. "I...I'm T...Tallis," she told him quietly before also turning back to her notebook and text books. Why did she always have to be so awkward around people. She glanced at Henry and couldn't help but wonder why he was so nervous. Maybe it was her, she did seem to have that effect on people. A little rain cloud over her head at all times.

Should she say something, she was pretty sure she almost had a panic attack by just saying hello so she wasn't sure how she would continue the conversation. The awkward silence hung in the air, like they were in a bubble. The other students chatted away, not having any problem being social. Times like these were wish she was more like her dad. He was so sociable, he could just go up to anyone and start a conversation. People were drawn to him, his uplifting spirit and bright smile made him approachable. She sighed slightly and started to write in her notebook, deciding she might as well continue working.


Interacting with @Henry Knight

As Henry started to work he heard the hufflepuff girl say"I...I'm T...Tallis." Henry nodded quickly to her to acknowledge her then turned back to his book to continue to work. As he work, others around him started to chatter and laugh among each other Henry shook his legs and his neck felt all sweaty and sticky as he imagined talking to another student, Henry never has been good at socializing before and before Hogwarts spent most of his time reading so he wasn't the best at socializing with others his age or older than him, besides from Cricket who somehow he could anyways talk to.

Henry continued to tap his foot rapidly as he side glanced at the hufflepuff girl named; Tallis. He noticed that her one eye that was showing was a vivid color of green was actually quite stunning and beautiful. Maybe I should say something or not because what if she takes offense or sees it the wrong way, what if she sees it as a insult or thinks I'm making fun of her by mentioning it? Henry gulped a little as he stumbled over his next few words " your eyes are quite beautiful- from the one I can see... the green makes it look stunning and unique."

As she worked she heard Henry start to talk. He complimented her eyes, well at least the one that showed. She looked up at him and stuttered out, "O...Oh, um... th...thank you." She wasn't used to people complimenting her so this was new to her. She usually only got insults, especially for her green eye. People would tell her it was unnatural, that she was a freak or some kind of monster. It was true that the shade of green was slightly unusual, being a bright, in all honesty, unnatural green. Her parents always told her not to listen, her dad also having the same unnatural green eyes that she had. It was quite interesting since they weren't actually related by blood.

The fact that someone actually complimented her was... curious. Then again, as she looked at Henry, she herself became quite curious about the boy. He was different, she wasn't sure how but he had an aura about him. She realized she might have been staring so she quickly looked back down at her notebook. He did interest her though, why was he so nervous, why did he compliment her, what made him different. She decided to get rid of those thoughts and once again started to right in her notebook.

"O...Oh, um... th...thank you." Henry heard Tallis reply as he continued his work, Henry couldn't stop his legs from shaking nor could he restrain himself from being nervous or worried while those around him laugh and chatted among each other. Henry occasionally side eyes Tallis as he thought to himself, she stutters which means she's nervous like me but why would she be nervous? What does she have to be nervous for, or is she just socially awkward because she hardly had any social interactions like me or maybe it is me?

Henry started to take quick calming breaths as thought filled his head, Henry bit his lip in a effort to concentrate but couldn't as his thoughts were too overwhelming to ignore. Henry placed his quill down and continued to take calming breaths while he rubbed his hands together trying to get at least a little bit if courage, when he finally turned a bit to Tallis while still taking calming breaths and spoke " I'm not rude or mean or anything like t...that. I just am a nervous p..person that why I'm not talking as m..much as the rest." Henry indicted their classmates as he spoke the quickly turned to his work while he shook his head, idiot why didn't you just say quiet!

She had been writing in her notebook when she heard Henry say something. She told her that he wasn't trying to be rude/ mean and that he was just nervous. She felt bad that he had to tell her that, but she understood, people thought that she was being rude since she had a hard time talking to people."I...I understand, d...don't worry a...about it." She told him, playing with a strand of her hair. "I...I really d...do un...understand," she quietly said, tapping her pencil on her notebook and biting the inside of her cheek, thinking. She started writing again in her journal was she remembered what she was doing.

She looked over at Henry and could tell that he was still nervous, she bit her cheek again, trying to decide whether or not she should say anything. "Y...You seem n...nice though," she told him, turning towards him slightly, "I... I really d...didn't think y...you were b...being rude, y...you can't h...help being n...nervous." She turned back to her notebook, hoping she hadn't bothered him to much. She had never been good with people but if people were uncomfortable, nervous, sad or any thing like that, she just wanted to help. Her nerves got in the way though and so she she tended to make things worse.


Interacting with @Henry Knight

Henry heard Tallis speak about how she understands how he can be nervous and how to her her seems nice, Henry turned to face her and simply smiled and nodded a bit before continuing to work on their assignment. Henry noticed he was fine after a few minutes and got up from his chair to walk to the professor, he handed his notebook to the professor and watched as his professor started to read and grade his assignment. While waiting Henry stood uncomfortably still and he bit his lip from nervous as he took quick calming breaths that he kept hidden from the professor and other students. After a while the professor handed Henry back his notebook and nodded to him to signal he can sit back down, Henry rapidly grab his notebook and ran back to his seat where he shook his legs and both if his arms quite quickly as he took calming breaths.

After a while of him picnicking Henry finally was calm enough as he sort of turned to Tallis and spoke "thanks, and you nice to you. Uh, would you like to try chatting with each other like the others?" Henry gestured to the rest of the class as he spoke.

Tallis was focused on her notebook when she saw out of the corner of her eye Henry getting up and handing his notebook in. She herself was almost done herself and was just finishing up as soon as the Slytherin boy sat back down. She slowly closed her notebook and got up to bring it to the professor. She carefully handed it to them and the professor gave a nod, and she quickly took her notebook back to her desk, sitting back down. After a few moments of silence between the two, she heard Henry start to speak.

He told her that she seemed nice as well and asked if maybe they could chat with each other like the other student sin the room. She turned slightly to Henry, and looked up at him. She bit her cheek and nodded slightly, "W...we could tr...try if you w...would like." She had never been great at conversation and as nervous as she was and as nervous as he seemed this could be less a conversation and more just awkward silence. She was willing to give it a shot though, while she may not look it or seem like it she actually did appreciate a good conversation. It was a bit difficult though with people she barely knew.


Interacting with @Henry Knight

"W...we could tr...try if you w...would like." Henry heard Tallis say and he just nodded as he looked around the room to see other kids laughing and joking among themselves with ease, like it was easy or that were born to do it. Henry looked over at Tallis then looked away as he decided to close his notebook then put the cap back on his ink, while after he pick his messager type bag from the ground and placed his notebook, quill, and ink inside it before closing it again then placing it back on the ground gently and slowly.

Henry placed his arms on the table and held his hands together as his legs started to shake on their own, Henry bit his lip as thoughts started to form and spiral around the young Slytherin's head. Henry heard the laughing and cheerily demeanor of the other students and wonder how they were so comfortable with the social skill known as speaking to others their own age or older. What should I say? How do others do this, maybe I should ask her about her family or hobbies or ugh just think Henry. Why is this so hard maybe because you don't know what to say or what not to say, what if you say some that hurts her feelings?

Henry cleared his throat nervously and barley looked up at Tallis as he begun to talk " I don't really know what to converse about, so what do you want to talk about?"
