YOU ARE INVITED TO THE MIDNIGHT QUILL SOCIETY!

It was Saturday evening, and if you walked past the shelves of books and main tables in the library, you would see a small round table, tucked into the corner and lit up by candlelight. There sat two first-year girls, one wearing Slytherin robes and the other Gryffindor. Their names were Bella Light and Tessa Brown, and they were anxiously waiting for the other club members that would join them. It was their first club meeting, and they were excited (and slightly nervous) for this moment.

There was a tray of snacks, and papers and pens were placed at the center of the desk. A sign was propped up nearby, which said:

“Welcome to THE MIDNIGHT QUILL SOCIETY: Not just a club for writing, but also one for competitions and prizes! Lots and lots of prizes! Welcome to all!”

Bella and Tessa had planned and revised their first club activity until perfection, a surprise to come when the members had arrived. Now, they just patiently watched and waited, hoping that people would actually come.

Hello, and welcome! This club may be known as a "writing club", but in truth, it's not just that! It mainly functions as a place to find WRITING COMPETITIONS.

Yes, this society holds writing competitions with different broad themes and styles! And the best part is...it's free, yet there's a prize at the end for winners. Of course, no one really "wins" at writing, because everybody has different styles of writing, and they are all amazing.

But if you wish to see what things these competitions would be looking at, here is the criteria!

1. Word Count (I know...WHYYYY must there be a word count?? Unfortunately, we are going to have to set a minimum and maximum word count range, but hopefully it would be broad enough to satisfy you!)
2. Prompt/Theme:
3. Originality, Voice, Concept, and Angle (Basically uniqueness)!
4. Structure and Pacing
5. Emotional Impact/ Remembrance
6. Technical Mechanics

NOTE: There may be a couple more, but the above is the main things we are looking for!
