These days Callie had spent almost every waking hour buried in a mound of books as the impending stress of final exams had entirely gotten to her head. Lately she'd thrown herself head first into her charms textbooks and rekindled her fascination for the subject after a month or so of being completely burned out. However even after Callie found her motivation for studying in recent weeks, today she entirely needed a break. The light in the library were starting to get to her head and the room was horrifically stuffy, prompting the young girl out into the grounds in hunt of a tree to hide from the sun under.
For the first time in a while the sun shined down on Hogwarts and Callie didn't hesitate to bask in all it's glory. As she walked down into the grounds Callie idly swished her robes from side to side and loosened her tie slightly to fully enjoy the presence of the sunshine. Even after all these months studying at Hogwarts the sensation of wearing a robe was still entirely strange to Callie as she couldn't but want to swish the sleeves around. Especially since the robe was still too big for the incredibly small child, who often had to roll up their sleeves to avoid certain doom. She let out a tiny huff of annoyance as the left sleeve of her robe tumbled down her arm and eventually set about rolling it back into place once more.
Eventually Callie found a suitable tree to hide from the sunshine under and promptly dropped down onto the grass and leaned against the tree. With a gentle breeze billowing through the grounds and the sun shining down on the earth below the grounds was a pleasant enough place to pass by an afternoon which Callie was in dire need of after her rather dramatic morning in the library. Spending so much time cooped up in side had made Callie almost forget about her love for the outdoors so doing something so peaceful was long over due. However sitting still for too long wasn't something Callie was particularly good at and after a while of enjoying the breeze she pulled out a notebook. Callie idly hummed to herself as she tore a page out of the notebook and happily sat folding together paper dragons to keep her hands busy, a habit she'd started to develop ever since learning how to make them in an errand the previous week.

Miranda was reading. Well, that was normal enough. Most people read. Of course, most of them didn't do it like she did.@Callie Jensen
The tree she'd climbed this time had less branches than the ones she normally chose, but her balance was pretty good, so she wasn't scared of falling. Instead, Miranda lay with her back against one of the tree's thickest branches, and her legs held up by a mesh of smaller twigs, branches, and leaves that she'd been fortunate to find. It was quite comfortable, if a bit more dangerous. However, Miranda wasn't one to skirt away from things that were less safe, so she didn't mind. The tree offered a nice ray of sunlight to warm her, and the occasional breeze would blow through the leaves and make a delightful sound, which more than made up for any fear of falling in her opinion.
Miranda closed her eyes and tilted her head toward the sky, breathing in deeply. It was a beautiful day, which was funny considering the horrendous rainstorm that had swept through the grounds the day before.
She didn't know how long she sat there, simply enjoying the light, when a sudden burst of movement and noise (was that someone whistling?) made her startle. Normally that was safe enough, but not when one was perched on a relatively fragile area of a not-exactly-sturdy tree.
With a sudden chorus of snaps and cracks, the branches that had previously been supporting her weight quite well gave way, and Miranda tumbled to the ground in a flailing mass of limbs, twigs, leaves, and papers.

By the time her fellow Ravenclaw had tumbled out of the tree Callie had successfully amassed a small army of around three paper dragons, complete with pencilled in eyes. The dragons were lined up in a neat row to Callie's left as she started constructing number four, only for the process to be entirely destroyed by the sudden ambush of a tree lurking maniac. She let out a scream as Miranda fell to the ground and narrowly missed landing directly on the top of Callie. However Callie wasn't entirely safe from the ambush as a small mass of twigs, leaves and papers had fallen directly onto her head. Now Callie had the luxury of having a couple of twigs and leaves stuck in her mane of blonde hair, which wasn't exactly the look she had been going for on this fine afternoon.
Callie's fright quickly dissipated when she realised it was a person that had almost crushed her rather than some tree monster that was about to suck her blood. She immediately tossed the crushed paper dragon to the side and scrambled over to the side of the girl to check if she wasn't dead. Callie certainly hoped she wasn't dead as trying to explain this scenario to the professors wouldn't have been a very fun task. "Are you alright uh..tree? Person?" Callie questioned whilst crouching at Miranda's side with plasters adorned with pandas at the ready to help with any unfortunate scrapes. "I have plasters! They've got pandas on them so I promise they're adorable, unless you don't like pandas. If you don't like pandas then I'll have to respectfully disagree with your dislike of the worlds cutest animal." After all Callie was an extraordinarily clumsy person and carrying plasters came with the territory of being quite so accident prone, so she sympathised with the situation. If the tables had been turned and it was Callie that had fallen from the tree she knew that she would've loved someone to come to the rescue with panda plasters to cover her scrapes.

"Are you alright uh..tree? Person?" The person who'd startled her said in a concerned voice, crouching at Miranda's side. "I have plasters! "No, no, I'm fine," Miranda replied, rubbing her head and dusting a ridiculously large heap of shredded leaves out of her tangled hair. "Also, pandas?" she added after a moment. "Over wolf cubs? Really?"
She sat up, then grimaced. "Okay, sorry about that. I'm actually really grateful, it's just-" Miranda paused and then winced. "Ow. I think I hit my head a bit too hard. Everything seems to be spinning." There was a pause, then she shook her head and smiled weakly. "Okay, I'm better now."
Her book, which had been ancient many years ago, was utterly destroyed now. Falling from a tree tended to do that to objects as fragile as it seemed to be, and now loose pages were scattered everywhere. Ah well, Miranda thought with a twinge of regret. I've already read it several more times than necessary. And I can always get a replacement the next time I go to Flourish and Blotts. Contrary to what she told herself, however, the loss of a book wasn't something she took so lightly. It had happened before, of course, but never had a volume been destroyed so... completely and irreversibly. That's too bad. It probably would've survived at least a few more years otherwise.

Considering the mystery stranger had just tumbled out of a tree they seemed to be in surprisingly good shape. They'd just fell out of a tree and they were well enough to try and claim wolf cubs were better than pandas? The audacity! Panda's were adorable! Wolf cubs were delightful, even Callie had to admit that but to rank them above pandas had to be some kind of criminal offence. "Pandas are the best! Have you even SEEN the videos of them rolling around? It's enough to make your heart melt!" Callie defended as she peeled off the backing of a plaster and stuck it rather uselessly on Miranda's forehead when she mentioned her possible head injuries. "There you go! Panda plasters solve every problem! Except maybe world hunger...or war... or most things. Whatever, pandas are still great!" Callie exclaimed with a wide grin.
Upon noticing the book scattered across the grass a look of concern graced Callie's features as the destruction of a book was never a good thing. "I hope you weren't too far ahead in that book of yours...I uh don't think there's much saving this one.." Callie trailed off in thought for a moment before an idea to try and cheer the girl up popped into her head. "What were you reading anyway? All I've read recently is my charms textbook..." As she spoke Callie folded up a rogue page from the book in question to create a tiny paper dragon which she presented to Miranda with a proud toothy grin. "Are you sure you're alright? You did like literally just fall from a tree..."

Apparently the other girl really liked her pandas, because as soon as Miranda protested that wolves were cuter, she protested and then slapped a plaster onto her head. Wincing, Miranda reaches up and peeled it off, then stared at it.
“Pandas,” she muttered under her breath, although she had begun to smile faintly.
While Miranda was distracted by that, her new companion had moved over to the remains of the book and was dejectedly assessing the pages. It came as no surprise to her that the book was beyond repair, but when asked what she’d been reading, Miranda rummaged through the mounds and pulled out the tattered cover, which read “how to fend off werewolves” in bold letters. Underneath was a picture of a full moon and a snarling wolf-creature that probably looked terrifying to most people, including Miranda (although she was also quite fascinated by them).
“I just took one at random,” she said as casually as she could (Miranda very much didn’t want anyone to know that werewolves terrified her, even though there was no good reason for that). “My parents have sent me a lot of books recently.”
To her surprise, the other girl handed her a small paper dragon she’d folded from one of the pages.
“Wow,” Miranda said, studying the details. “This is really good. And yeah, I’m fine. I’ve been falling out of trees all my life, although most of the time it’s on purpose...don’t ask”
She paused for a moment, then stuck out her hand to shake. “My name’s Miranda. What about you?”

As Miranda held up the rather battered book cover Callie straightened her glasses in order to read it's contents. The idea of werewolves were an interesting one for Callie as the extent of her knowledge regarding the creatures was rooted in movies, which wasn't exactly the most reliable of sources. Since much of Callie's spare time had been consumed by reading various textbooks she hadn't yet had much of a chance to read up on some other creatures, so the reminder of a rather large gap in her own knowledge was a welcome one. Perhaps this realm of study would be her focus in between her various escapades over summer.
"Oooh! I don't know a whole lot about werewolves other than the big scary ones from the movies." Callie admitted with a pleasant smile and her hands laced together on her lap. "So do you have like a giant book mountain? Maybe you can put the dragon on the top of it! It could be the dragon's horde! That would be ADORABLE." Callie exclaimed with excitement over her own idea. When Miranda mentioned that she had been falling out of trees her entire life Callie couldn't help but find her curiosity piqued. "All the time on purpose?" Callie questioned with a hint of shock evident in her tone. "You can't just say that kind of thing and not expect me to ask questions silly!" She burst into a small fit of giggles before happily taking Miranda's hand to shake it in a proper greeting. "I'm Callie! Really though, do you seriously fall out of trees all the time? That's so cool! Maybe dangerous too...my mum yelled at me for climbing up tree once in case I fell and broke my arm again, have you ever managed to break your arm in tree related escapades too?"

"A...dragon's horde?" Miranda asked, wondering where that idea had come from. "Well, I'm not sure I have enough books at Hogwarts for that, and the librarian wouldn't want me leaving her books on the ground anyway... although that does sound kind of cool," she added as an afterthought. "Maybe when I get home again."@Callie Jensen
"Nice to meet you, Callie," Miranda continued once the other girl had introduced herself. "And, um, yeah, I do. Although at the time I preferred to call it "jumping". It was mostly falling, though, especially whenever my brother saw fit to push me. We were... quite rambunctious back then."
That was true. Anyone who lives near a forest filled with trees just asking to be climbed would have sympathized with her. Besides, it took great skill to fall out of a tree and remain unharmed. In fact, that was the reason for her frequent tumbles back home: her younger brother, Cedar, had convinced her to practice so when she fell out by accident, she wouldn't get hurt. In truth, though, Miranda was pretty sure he just liked shoving her off of the highest branches.
"And no, I've never broken anything, although I have dislocated a few of my fingers." She winced audibly. "It's probably not as bad as a broken arm or anything... but it still hurts.

THEY PUSHED YOU FROM THE TREE?" Callie exclaimed in shock before bursting into laughter. "That's so intense! I usually just push my brother into the creek when we're on forest walks. I'm very small and he's very tall...so I've gotta make do!" She seemed to announce her achievements with a certain degree of pride as in Callie's eyes she was small yet mighty. Well, mostly. Just don't ask her to lift anything heavy. "I get the whole wanting to climb thing though! I live on a farm and I always get in trouble for climbing all over the hay bales....but that doesn't stop me from doing it! Or hiding in the hay barn." To showcase proof of her previous escapades on the farm Callie showed a small scar on her left elbow from when she managed to cut her arm open on a piece of farming equipment. "I got this from climbing on some equipment I definitely should not have been climbing on a while ago...my mum yelled at me on the way to accident and emergency..."
When Miranda revealed she had never had the misfortune of breaking a bone Callie audibly gasped. Broken bones of various descriptions was something Callie was more than familiar with - it came with the territory of being both adventurous and hopelessly clumsy. Thus far Callie had managed to break her arm twice and a couple toes on her foot from various incidents she'd gotten involved with across the farm. Most of them were thanks to her own adventurous nature and being in places she definitely wasn't suppose to be. "Like never ever? Seriously? Wow! You must be made of like iron or something!" She exclaimed whilst gathering together the papers of the now long dead book. "You know, kinda like terminator! But without the whole murder part." After collecting the papers together Callie passed them back to Miranda with a pleasant smile. "I don't think this one is fixable.."

Miranda listened as Callie recounted tales of her various climbing adventures, and showed off a scar on one of her elbows that she'd gotten from an incident with some farm equipment. "So you grew up on a farm?" she asked, curious. "Was it for muggles or wizards?"@Callie Jensen
Callie seemed preoccupied with gathering up the scattered pages, and Miranda hurried to help her pick up the last few, then accepted them when the other girl handed her the collected stack. "It's fine," she replied when Callie said it might not be fixable. "It was an old book anyway. Definitely needed replacing. I'll buy a new one when I go to Flourish and Blotts next fall."
She shrugged casually, and knocked the pages into a more orderly pile. "I'll use it as a fire starter in the common room. Unless, of course, you'd rather turn it into a a mound of origami dragons." Miranda shot Callie a broad grin, brushing another stack of leaves from her hair and clothes. They fluttered to the ground in a wave of brilliant green and brown flashes that temporarily mesmerized her. She had to get better about that. Miranda was sure most people didn't have as hard a time of focusing as she did.
