Autumn has always been Chidera's favorite season. Yeah, Summer's nice and Winter's pretty, but there's just something about the slight chill in the breeze, -- not too cold, but just right-- the beauty of the color changing leaves, and how they crunch under her flats that make her love it so much. She's enjoying all this now actually, as she takes a leisurely walk along the Hogwarts grounds, soaking in the sights, and doing a little bit of people watching. She's been going on a lot more walks now that she doesn't have her phone. She would read instead, but all her reading was unfortunately done online as well. Her parents raised a bit of a screenager. Or screen-pre-teenager. Because of all this, she tries to take advantage of the clear paths and skies as much as she can before she's forced to stay bundled up inside, avoiding the snow and the blistering winter winds.

She decides to take a little break and sits on a stone bench she comes across. She's looking around at all the people and faces; Some students are having picnics, some are strolling around hand in hand, others in their lonesome, just like herself. There is someone in particular who catches her eye though. A girl, who appears to be a Slytherin, weaving pretty flowers into her dark, curly hair. Chidera's interest is piqued. The Slytherin girl doesn't seem to have anyone she's talking to at the moment, so Chidera gets up from her seat and hesitantly approaches her.

Autumn was not Sia’s favorite season. It wasn’t exactly personal, but she’d always been sensitive to the temperature drop. She reasoned that at least it wasn’t winter yet; there was no snow to force her to stay inside the castle. So she decided to spend some time outside while she still could.

Her bunny, Lotus, seemed to appreciate being able to spend time outside. She busied herself with chewing on the grass. But Sia appreciated the scenery for another reason: the flowers. And not to eat, as Lotus would surely do when she inevitably grew tired of the grass.

Sia wanted the flowers to braid into her hair. The braiding part was being postponed for now, since she found that her curls, already difficult to braid by herself, was even harder to tame when it was dry. So she decided to first spend her time carefully weaving flowers, mainly daisies and cornflowers, between her hair.

A few minutes went by, with the girl and her bunny sitting on the grass and surrounded by a chilly breeze. Chilly at least to Sia. Her activity provided a nice distraction from the temperature. Until Sia noticed another girl approaching.

The girl, in Sia’s opinion, was quite pretty. She seemed to be around her age, too. And alone. Like Sia. Not to ignore the bunny next to her.

Sia gave the girl a small wave, smiling her friendliest smile. “Hi, lovely. I’m Sia. What’s your name?”

Chidera gives the girl, Sia, a soft smile of her own, her flats giving off that ever so satisfying crunch as she steps on the fallen autumn leaves, approaching the girl. A sudden gust of wind sweeps past, and Chidera tucks a stray braid behind her ear to keep her hair our of her face.

"I'm Chidera. Nice to meet you Sia" She says, her voice a bit high pitched, a subconscious habit that comes about whenever she's talking to an authority figure or meeting someone new.

She notices the tiny, grey fluff next to her and raises an eyebrow once she registers it's a bunny, "Ah. Cute pet" She adds warmly before crouching down on the grass next to Sia, her arms wrapping around her knees, not knowing if she can make herself comfortable quite yet.

"Uh, hope I'm not interrupting or anything" She says, letting out a nervous chuckle, glancing at the ground which is now decorated in golden brown leaves, "I just... Well I noticed what you were doing with your hair and I thought it looked really pretty. I was wondering if you needed any help? I've been meaning to get some braiding practice in myself so", she gives her an awkward, yet warm smile.

“Chidera.” Sia whispered, testing out the feeling of the name. She grinned playfully, noting the pitch in the other girl’s voice. It was a bit endearing. “Chi.” She declared.

Her grin turned to a softer smile when Chidera mentioned Lotus. With gentle hands, she lifted her bunny and placed her down on her lap. “Thanks. Her name’s Lotus. She’s my baby.” She stroked the tiny head with a single finger. So soft, as always.

She looked back at Chidera as she kept talking. “Oh, not at all! Please.” She chuckled. Her fingers found a daisy on the grass, which she plucked and tucked behind Chidera’s ear. She hoped she wasn’t overstepping any boundaries, but physical affection came naturally to her. Especially after noticing Chidera’s smile.

“If you wouldn’t mind.” Sia whispered, tilting her head so she was facing away from Chidera. “It’s pretty hard to braid my own hair.” She hummed, glancing at Chidera again. From the looks of it, she had no problem braiding. Sia’s fingers stroked Lotus’s fur in thought. If Chidera liked braiding, they’d get along just fine.

“I don’t think I’ve seen you around.” She commented, as a way to get conversation started, her voice easily flowing into the air. “Are you maybe a first year?”

Chidera blinks in surprise at the nickname. Although it's familiar as people at home have been calling her that for ages, she's yet to hear someone at Hogwarts refer to her as Chi. Until now. She isn't complaining though, it fills her with a sense of familiarity.

She smiles, comfortably taking a seat on the patch of grass by Sia once she gets her approval. She bends down a bit to get a good look at the bunny, "Hi Lotus, I'm Chi~" she says in a gentle voice.

Her attention shifts back to Sia when the girl places a flower-- a Daisy it looked like-- behind her ear. She brings her hand up to lightly touch the flower, letting out a soft chuckle, "Thank you" She says. Chidera isn't one to initiate affection, especially with people she just met, but she never minds it when others show it to her. She enjoys it actually, it makes her feel... important, and cared for in a way. It also helps lower any subconscious guards she may have up. And again, with the nickname, adds to that sense of familiarity.

She nods and claps her hands together when she turns around, signaling for her to get started on her hair, "If I may.." She says, gently picking up a few strands of Sia's hair, "I think I'm gonna go with a... French braid. If you don't mind." She very slowly starts weaving her way through, bit by bit. This is a work of precision. Her mom likes to say.

"Oh yeah, I'm a first year. Muggleborn too, so all this magic stuff is like, completely new to me. This is a nice sense of normalcy," She says, indicating to the hair braiding. She pauses the braiding to focus on Sia, "What about you?"

A calmness filled Sia when she felt Chidera’s fingers in her hair. She was pleased with the gentleness of the touch. Her curls were special to her, and she didn’t let just anyone touch it, lest they got messy or accidentally pulled. But Chidera, Sia could already tell, was cautious, and seemed to know her way around curls. She appreciated that.

“A french braid.” Sia grinned, a sparkle appearing in her eyes. She kept herself from glancing at Chidera again, and forced her head to stay still. She wouldn’t want to make the braiding process harder for her by being a difficult model.“You’ll have to teach me sometime. I can only do a regular braid.”

Her fingers gently pet Lotus, the bunny loafing on the skirt of Sia’s uniform, and she hummed. “I’m a second year. And I’m a half-blood. Grew up in both worlds, you know? I think I got pretty lucky. I can’t imagine how crazy it must’ve been for you though.” She chuckled softly. She did always wonder how muggle borns and their families reacted to the knowledge of magic. “Speaking of, how are you liking Hogwarts so far? I know I was pretty excited when I first came here.”
