Apprehension tugged at the first years sleaves as she boarded the train, being one of the first. She was quite terrified of having to join a full cabin, so she decided it would be better this way. She'd be able to just settle into an empty seat and wait as the train filled, letting fate have its way with her. It wasn't like she was particularly shy - though she sometimes found it hard to make the first move, conversation wasn't a common problem with her. She had lots of friends back home, which she already dearly missed. Why can't everyone just be in Hogwarts? Although her parents never sent her to a muggle school, them barely being home, especially in the last two years led to her exploring the city and forming unexpected friendships.
Despite her pureblood history, Celeste never had anything against muggles. Her parents were a slight bit distrusting of them, but seeing as her brother was very open to the muggle lifestyle his mindset helped broaden her horizons. Of course, there were certain boundaries with her childhood friends - after all, she had to keep so much a secret from them. Deep in thought, the young blonde slipped into an empty cabin and sank onto the cushions, breathing out a sigh of relief. Her icy blue eyes were fixated on the door of the compartment, silently willing for someone to come and join her. Otherwise, this would be a really boring drive.
Celeste was quite excited for her future in Hogwarts. The idea of going there wasn't so surprising to her, as she'd been brought up with it being a normal expectation, but she still couldn't help but feel eager to finally be able to learn all about the magic world. Growing up, magic had always fascinated her in ways that were hard to describe. She found it boring to sit around and watch how basically everyone in her family, and everyone her family knew, was able to practice it but her. Now this was her chance to prove herself.
Her family did have high expectations, but she was sure she could be an outstanding student. After all, this wasn't as boring as what her muggle friends had told her their school was like. She did wonder what house she would be sorted into - her family had a history of being Slytherins, so naturally they wanted her to become one as well. However, Celeste wasn't so sure.

As Chloe walked down the busy bustling aisle of the Hogwarts express she couldn't help but notice how much she didn't fit in. She was on a train to a school that she never ever knew existed until a letter arrived on her 11th birthday. Growing up in a muggle household Chloe knew nothing about "magic" except for those muggle magicians who pulled rabbits out of hats. But here she was about to embark on her journey at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
She looked around for a few seconds. All the compartments were full. Oh no... she thought to herself. Being the introvert that she is, Chloe has always found it difficult to make friends. She was uncomfortable around people she didn't know well. She had friends back in home but it wasn't like they could be here with her on this soon to come magical journey.
Before coming here, Chloe had read the entire Hogwarts a history and most of the other textbooks trying to understand what the school is and how she was supposed to behave. Nevertheless, she was still very very confused. Please let me find a friend... she prayed to herself, she couldn't imagine what it would be like to be all alone in such an unfamiliar place.
After what felt like an eternity of searching, she saw a compartment. Looking inside she saw a girl sitting. Chloe slid open the compartment door and awkwardly said, "Hey, can I sit here, everywhere else is full..."

Celestes' head tilted upwards curiously as the compartment door slid open. Yes! After what had felt like half an eternity, she finally had someone to talk to. Her lips formed into a small smile and she eagerly nodded in reply to the brown-haired girls question. "Of course you can sit!" she replied in a welcoming tone. While the little girl wasn't one to overload people with excitement, she couldn't contain a small grin. Of course she was happy to explore the magical aspect of Hogwarts, but what was almost more important to her was finding friends. After all, how could a foreign place be enjoyable if she didn't have anyone to share memories with? Since she didn't know what house anyone from the train would get sorted into she'd try not to get her hopes up too much, but striking conversation was never a bad thing.
"Hi! I'm Celeste. What's your name? And where are you from?" She surveyed the girl with a lot of interest. She seemed to be about her age, but appearance wise they were complete contrasts. While Celeste had very light blonde hair and blue eyes, the other girl carried much darker features, having very dark hair and eyelashes. Celeste had always found herself admiring people of different heritage. After all, her family was very one-toned. Light hair, light eyes, pale skin... that's what all of them looked like.

"Hi Celeste! It's nice to meet you. I'm Chloe and I come from London, but I'm half Chinese." Chloe replied. She was very happy that this was going very well so far. Maybe making a friend will not be so difficult after all. She thought.
"I come from a muggle family, which I think is what uh non-magical people mean.." Chloe was trying very hard to explain herself a little and she was very uncertain if she was using any of the new vocabulary that she learned correctly.
"I never actually really believed in witches and everything until I received my letter." Ok, I hope I'm not being too awkward. Chloe thought to herself. She fidgeted a little as she was somewhat nervous. This whole place and concept was just so new to her.
Chloe observed the girl in front of her for a brief minute. She was very pretty with her long blonde hair falling naturally to her shoulders. Chloe wondered about her family. Does she come from a wizard family? What would life be like if you grew up around magic? Her head bubbled with questions but after thinking for a while she decided it was best not to Celeste with questions.
"Um.. I heard there's a sorting ceremony for new students, do you have any idea how that's supposed to work? Is there umm any house that you really want to be sorted into?" Chloe hoped that she didn't say something stupid as she remembered distinctly that houses was mentioned in Hogwarts, a history. Hopefully, if all goes well I will have earned myself a friend...
Then looking back up at Celeste, she felt something inside her change, and for the first time since the letter arrived Chloe felt excitement and she genuinely looked forward to her brand new journey.

She was from London? That was so cool, because that's also where Celeste was from! The young witch wanted to squeal out in excitement very badly, but she kept it down. "I'm also from London! It's really cool that we're both from there." Ooh, she was a muggle. Celeste grinned softly at Chloe, head tilting with lots of interest. This must be really new for her - after all, the blonde girl was already pretty overwhelmed and felt unprepared as ever even though she'd been growing up with magic all her life. "Yeah, that means from nonmagical background. I've got a bunch of muggle friends back in London, I think they're pretty nice people. It's really impressive how they've gotten so far without magic. I mean, life must be so much harder!"
"Oh, yeah, none of my muggle friends believe in them either. Thats good though, I don't want them to be suspicious of me... but I think you'll love it. Magic is super amazing. I'm a pureblood, meaning my whole family is magic. Don't worry though, I don't know that much more about magic and spells than you do. I mean, it's not like I was allowed to practice magic so all I got was the stories from my family. Seeing everyone around you use it but not being able to use it yourself was very annoying sometimes..." Celeste realized that she'd been rambling a bit too much and hurriedly shut herself up.
When Chloe mentioned the sorting ceremony, the small blonde needed a moment to think. The sorting had been her moral dilemma for quite a while now - of course everyone expected her to be sorted into Slytherin, after all that was the family tradition. It just didn't suit her though. Her ambition was held in bounds, and she wasn't someone who liked being sly and cunning. She preferred being more direct. "You'll get the sorting hat placed on you, and somehow it just knows what house everyone belongs into. The houses reflect your personality. Have you heard of their traits yet? I don't really know which one I'm expecting to get sorted into. My family has a bit of a legacy with Slytherin, and I'm sure they're not all as evil as they are made out to be but I don't think it's very me. Between the others I don't have too much of a preference. I suppose I'm hoping for Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. And you?"

“I've read about the sorting ceremony and the four houses." Chloe said. "I don't really have much of a preference as all four sounded very good."
She was finding it very easy to start up a conversation with Celeste now and they were seriously getting along really well. She listened to Celeste explain a lot about magical stuff which definitely added to all the information she has already gained. Chloe had read about the four houses, which in her memory Gryffindor stood for bravery, Hufflepuff for loyalty, Ravenclaw for wisdom, and Slytherin for ambition. All of the four houses didn't sound bad. Plus, it's very difficult for someone like her to choose a house when she is just comprehending how everything around her is supposed to work. Still, Chloe secretly hoped for Ravenclaw because she liked the color blue but really any of the four should be fine. And most importantly she wanted to be in the same house with Celeste.
Chloe was beginning to like everything around her. She admired the gorgeous view outside of the window. That's when she heard:
"Anything from the trolleys?"
Chloe poked her head outside the compartment to see a kind looking old lady who pushed a a cart full of candy she has never seen before. The cart was loaded with wrappers of green, red, purples, orange, and so many more colors. Some of the packaging glistened under the light and she swore she saw those blue boxes with gold lining on them shake. Are candy supposed to move in the magical world? Chloe observed the whole cart with great curiosity and she was really tempted to try a bit of everything. Surely, candy should all taste the same despite muggle or magic right? However, she was very unfamiliar with all the new money she had so she just stared.
The lady must have caught her staring and said kindly, "Anything from the trolley dear? Would you like a cauldron cake, pumpkin pasty, chocolate frogs, or Bertie Botts every flavored beans?"
What? Chloe reached into her pocket and grabbed a handful of some of the coins she had collected previously from the Gringotts bank.
"Um, can I please have a few of each?" She said.
The lady nodded and took some of her money and returned to her one box of jelly beans which she assumed to be the Bertie beans something, one of the moving blue boxes which turned out to be a chocolate frog and a cake that came in the shape of a cauldron.
Chloe turned to Celeste and said, "Would you like any of these?"

I'm really enjoying the writing and reading so far! I feel like after a few more posts we can close this thread and perhaps do one for the first year boat ride or the sorting ceremony since we are in the same house which could be really fun! This is just my idea though, feel free to email me for any ideas you have!

The first year's gaze lit up when the trolley witch came by. She'd been waiting for this for ages! Her parents rarely allowed sweets in the house- only on special occasions, such as her birthdays - so she was quite excited to finally be able to buy as many as she wanted. She watched eagerly as Chloe ordered some of each, turning to the lady and deciding what she wanted. "Can I have ten of the chocolate frogs, and one pack of the beans?" She handed the old lady some of her coins, smiling as she got her sweets in return.
"Okay, so these might look like normal sweets but they're not. The chocolate frogs can move, and they've got wizard cards in them! That's why I got so many. I want to enhance my collection. Some wizards are rarer than others! Ooh, and the beans we got - you might wanna be careful with those. They've got some good flavors, but then there's... others. It's all a game of luck." With a little giggle, she tore open the package and popped one of the beans into her mouth. Shortly after her face turned into a grimace and she shook her head violently. "Ewww. I think that was rotten egg or something."
The small blonde laughed it off and hurriedly ate one of her chocolate frogs to wash the taste away, gazing at the card she got with lots of curiosity. "I got Dumbledore! Hmm. Decent, but not the best."

Wait what... Chocolate frogs move... How's that supposed to work? Chloe was pretty certain that candy was not supposed to move. But after all she is on a train to study at a magical school. So who knows maybe there's more to come.
After hearing Celeste explain a little about all the candy, Chloe took a look at the few things she held in her hand. Since the Bertie Botts Every Flavored Bean's could have a taste of basically anything it was better to start this off just in case they tasted disgusting,
Chloe reached her hand into the box and picked out a single jelly bean. She observed it for a few seconds. The bean was in a color of blue with spots of darker blue. Umm.. blueberry? She popped the bean inside her mouth and oh she regretted it. The bean dissolved into her mouth tasting like bubbles in a bath with a hint of shampoo.
"I must have gotten soap..." She said.
Doing the same thing as Celeste. She decided to open her chocolate frog to wash off the remaining bubble taste of whatever that bean was. She carefully opened the box and with a clear hop the frog leaped out of the box jumping on the window. Chloe shocked at first immediately lunged for it grabbing the frog just in time before it could leap outside the window and free itself from the train.
"Wow." Chloe said, speechless. She was dumbfounded by the magic but as much as how it confused her it also amazed her. She was having a feeling that she was going to like Hogwarts.
Chloe ate the chocolate frog and looked inside the box to see a single card with a photo on it.
"The photo's moving!" She exclaimed looking at how the beaming man in gold robes on the card smiled and waved at her. This is was getting very interesting and exciting she thought!
Celeste showed Chloe her card which was Dumbledore. Dumbledore, Chloe turned the name many times in her head until she could recall that he was a former headmaster of Hogwarts and one of the greatest wizards of all time.
Chloe then looked down at her own card. "Gilderoy Lockhart" she said, to which immediately triggered a giggle from Celeste. Looking at the description, Chloe found him very interesting. He was a honorary member of the dark force league but lost his memory. Poor guy she thought.
Soon, the two girls attention was drawn away from the candy as they heard students yelling about how they were almost there. Almost there... At the thought of that Chloe's heart leapt with nervousness, excitement, and a mingling fear. She was yet unaware about the magical journey that was going to unfold...
