A Burst of Egyptian Starclusters PV Nadira Bakari

Date: TBD
It was loud. Louder than usual. The Mwanamke tribe prepared a festival unlike any. Flowers littered the entire village, from exotic to their own local diversity. It appears their flower gatherers worked harder than usual; some complained that their hands had multiple cuts from the thorny flowers they'd picked for the occasion.

They were having a visitor, a very important one.

Chuki, on the other hand, didn't see what the big deal was, but it wasn't like she didn't see the woman herself from time to time at school; the Uagadou headmistress was visiting for the day.

Now she had to sit miserably as women plastered her with beads and clay-based makeup along with a few other girls and even some boys. If Chuki didn't knew better, she would've assumed this was the tribe giving them their final farewell before throwing them out for good. Thankfully, only the boys would have to fear for it.

The others also went to Uagadou with Chuki. Even the Chiefess Amani didn't seem on edge for the event, but she had on her best attire for the occasion. Apparently, and according to rumors that kept swarming around the tribe for the past few days, as soon as the Chiefess announced their visitor, the Elders went into hysteria and began their own festival planning.

Even music was being played by Elder Wangui as the main conductor with a kora (a 21 stringed instrument) who hasn't played any form of instrument since Chuki was very small. Drums littered the entire village, and children ran around with shekeres (dried gourd shakers).

As soon as Chuki was done with getting covered in what she considered to be mud, she was forced to help bring various foods out to rugs. As she sat out unnecessarily large amounts of food out, there were women placing out animal furs to decorate homes. The festival was so outrageously massive that they were even allowing verified former Mwanamke tribe men to come in just to help with decorating the place.

Through the entire commotion, Chuki heard a voice in the distance; an Elder?

"The visitor is here, I am sure! Prepare yourselves!" Everyone went into a panic before Chuki even knew it, she was picked up like a sack and hurried off to the front of the village gate. She was the oldest Uagadou student amongst the tribe. The entire scenario made Chuki slightly dizzy as she was plastered onto her feet.

And without warning, she had a bundle of Egyptian Starclusters shoved into her arms as an offering. Before she could sneeze from sniffing the flowers by accident, a woman held her nose for a moment before letting her be, running off to her supposed designated spot.

The village went completely silent afterward, watching the gates with tense eyes. Women outside began to open the gates, and there sat Chuki, slightly disheveled, caked with exhausted sweat and colorful clay.

Chuki had to sniff slightly to prevent her nose from running from allergies.

"Welcome to the Mwanamke Tribe, Headmistress Bakari-" was all she was able to gag out until a violent sneeze took over her, sending a burst of Egyptian Starclusters from her hands and scattering the entire bundle through the air. Chuki swears she heard horrified gasps and scowls from the people behind her.

Gently, a hand patted Chuki's back. Chuki blinked her newly swollen eyes to view the Chiefess behind her, as if to comfort her from the mess she just made. A sigh escaped the older woman's lips. Her hair fully gray and scattered down in heavy braids. She wore a colorful gown plastered with equally colorful beads. Her brown eyes blinked away the annoyance she surely felt. "Apologies for the...grandness. The tribe is quite excited to meet you. I am Chiefess Amani. Why don't you join us before my Elders pass out from nervousness?"

Slowly, with what was still savable, Chuki lifted the bundle of flowers up, hoping someone, anyone, would simply take it out of her hands.
