Would it always be this suffocating, trying to traverse the corridors of Hogwarts? The staircases were filled to the brim with pupils of all years, and Atlas had barely fought his way out of the crowd only to be mercilessly consumed by another. He was sure the armies of black robes and pointed boots would be his demise. Then something attacked his left side, forcing him to stand flat against a wall as the ignorant crowds scurried past, one after another, before dividing into smaller groups in the vast corridors.

It would be a long two minutes until a thin gap appeared in the endless stream of students. The boy darted for it but had no luck, achieving no more than a couple of scowls and dirty looks from the group he collided with. This was hell. He remained helplessly pinned to the wall until the crowd had thinned. This new "Wizarding World" was not as kind as he had hoped, but what did he expect? He was an alien to them. No one would waste their precious time teaching him the norms, magic, secret passageways, whatever other bullshit this place had in store for him...

He was on his own.

"You lost, boy?"
It took only a heartbeat for Atlas to jump back and crash into yet another person. Stupid, stupid paintings...
"Sorry about that..." He mumbled, grasping at the newly formed ache in his shoulder from the impact.

Getting from class to class was chaos. Hasianna had to go from Potions all the way up to Transfiguration, bypassing all the moving stairs, twists and turns of the corridors, and the crowd. What seemed like billions of students were making their way down the same corridor, and before long, the pounding headache in her skull worsened.

It felt as though someone had cast a spell on the back of her head - well, technically someone had. Some older year levels were casting Expelliarmus each other in the middle of the courtyard on her way to breakfast, and boom, somehow Hasianna was caught in the crossfire. She was left very disoriented, as she picked up her books with the assistance of the other students, but it left her with an annoying ache that wasn't going away.

As Hasianna weaved her way through the crowd, books tucked in her arms and wand stowed in her robe pocket, she heard portraits jeering at students while they sat in their frames. Ridiculous, she frowned to herself, and kept walking. She was used to moving and talking paintings, growing up with her magic parents. However, some students ahead were not. Every now and then Hasianna would see a student get startled by the people in the frames.

She was making her way around a group of Hufflepuffs until - thump - some boy had bumped into her, a few books falling to the floor. He muttered out an apology.

"Watch it!" She frowns and rubs her collarbone, already in a sour mood. Did he just do that on purpose? Hasianna couldn't think straight. Normally she would be nicer, but today was not a good day, "what's your problem?" She narrows her eyes.

The portrait that had frightened him was one of a plump lady in her late forties. Looking closely, one could find streaks of white in her voluminous blonde bob, which was decorated with a distasteful purple beret. An ugly dress and heels complemented the hat, and at least five layers of pearls were strung around her neck.

The worse part was not the lady's tacky sense of fashion or even her suffocating barrage of pearl necklaces, but rather the pompous smile she wore, gleaming especially bright as she successfully tormented innocent first-years. Innocent first-years like Atlas, who had enough troubles to last him the entire year.

I guess it's true, they really don't like muggle-borns around here... He glanced up at the girl he crashed into and was met with a pair of furious slits for eyes. The lady in the portrait seemed to be enjoying the little scene she had caused, evident from her irritating smirk. Atlas absolutely refused to entertain her any further and—

"I'm pretty sure my problem is that someone just crashed into me."

The boy's mouth often spoke without his permission. This was one of those times. At least the purple-dress lady was beaming, though the same probably couldn't be said for his fellow Ravenclaw classmate.

What had he done?

The hallway was suffocating. Hasiannas books were on the floor, students chatting insufferably loud and portraits shifting into a dizzying blur. Hasiannas vision was strained, lights too bright and noise too loud.

Her gaze casts over to the portrait. The lady with an insane amount of pearls necklaces had a annoying smirk on her face like she had just won the Daily Prophet lottery. Her face was bright compared to the Stony expression of Hasianna, eyes narrowed.

Her gaze returns to the Ravenclaw boy in front of her and she frowns again. He looked a bit worried but that was no excuse for how he had ran into her earlier.

She was about to open her mouth again to speak until he had the audacity to blame her for the collision.

Wasn't it him who crashed into her? Her mood dips even lower and she replies with,

"You're blaming me? It was you who got in my way!" She crouches down to pick up her fallen books, cradling them close to her body as she collects them. There is one right next to the boys foot and she frowns again.

It was Hogwarts: A History, one of her favourite books. She reaches out to grab it, but before she can her head pains her again and she holds her temple.
