Wrong First Impression
Maya was not having a good day today. She spend long boring hours with a class she didn’t like compared to others, the history of magic, and she almost fell asleep in the classroom. And when the class finally ended, she probably would be fast asleep if it wasn’t for one of her housemates waking her up and letting her know it was over.
After that, she had spend the break time outside in the grounds of the Hogwarts castle, hoping that fresh coldish September weather would wake her up fully. She might have needed coffee.
She was never a good sleeper, she had fallen asleep late again so that why she was so sleepy during the earlier classes. She really needed to fix this insomniac feeling.
After a while of spending the break time outside, she was feeling much better energy wise. Then she realized it was the time to get lunch, and honestly, she was really hungry, as if she didn’t eat breakfast that morning at all. She was almost a bit late, and feeling too impatient to eat she started walking fast, making her way to the Great Hall, through the small hall first.
She was almost running there until she bumped into someone, it wasn’t unclear whose fault it was, regardless, since Maya was having a bad day, without thinking she blamed the other student instead.
“Hey, get out of my way!” She said to the girl in front of her.
Maya wasn’t normally rude like that but at that moment she couldn’t bring herself to care.

If Maya was an especially patient person who wasn't already angry and hungry, she would take a deep breath to calm herself down and realize it was her fault for bumping onto the other student, but she wasn't , it was a bad day.
So when the Gryffindor girl in front of her snapped at her, she got angrier and snapped even louder. "Well, you are blocking the way!"
Maya just wanted to eat in peace and fix her appetite. At that point, she didn't really care about anything else but to satisfy herself, even if that meant she'd stubbornly ignore the voice in her head saying she's overreacting. It was crowded, someone else might've noticed the sudden issue those two 11 year old girls were having, Maya didn't notice anything though, but she could smell the food at the great hall calling her.
Remembering her main goal - to eat, literally, thats it - Maya realized this screaming match would only make things be harder. So she took a deep breath and sighed. "Look, I'm just very hungry, okay? The Gryffindor girl ended up apologizing too, which Maya didn't really expect. She shrugged in response. "I was having a bad day...I didn't mean to bang into you" To be honest the slytherin was still hungry and that still made her feel a bit moody. Regardless, they both started walking together to the great hall.
The Gryffindor girl -who's name Maya learned was Cassieopia, short for Cassie- started asking her many questions, which once again made the slytherin feel surprised. She would've expected her to be more guarded, if not mad, but the girl seemed to be pretty civil despite the previous situation.
Maya decided to be lighter and smiled at her. "Yeah, I'm a Slytherin" She didn't listen to the urge to say 'duh, I am wearing this robe' . "My name is Maya and I'm also a first year, I have an older sibling who graduated from Hogwarts just last year. How about you, do you have any siblings?"
They started eating together and Maya felt herself finally calming down. It turned out, she wasn't her usual self when she was hungry. Eventually Cassie - Cassieopia? She had said her friends called her Cassie, were they really friends now? - asked her about the Slytherin common room. Maya thought for a bit "It's pretty nice I think, we can see some creatures of the Great Lake which is my favorite part" She smiled as she thought about it, she found the creatures interesting. "It gives pretty much gothic energy , but I gotta admit its a bit too dark for my liking. It's still pretty cool though." She took a bite from her food. " Game nights are definitely fun, we also had those a few times. What kind of board games did you play?"
She ate a bit before answering Cassie's question about reading. "Yeah, I do sometimes. My favorite genre would probably be fantasy when it comes to fictional books..but i like books to learn stuff too, for example about the wizarding word, thats why I also like going to the Hogwarts Library. What about you? What kind of books do you like?"
The Gryffindor girl ended up apologizing too, which Maya didn't really expect. She shrugged in response. "I was having a bad day...I didn't mean to bang into you" To be honest the slytherin was still hungry and that still made her feel a bit moody. Regardless, they both started walking together to the great hall.
The Gryffindor girl -who's name Maya learned was Cassieopia, short for Cassie- started asking her many questions, which once again made the slytherin feel surprised. She would've expected her to be more guarded, if not mad, but the girl seemed to be pretty civil despite the previous situation.
Maya decided to be lighter and smiled at her. "Yeah, I'm a Slytherin" She didn't listen to the urge to say 'duh, I am wearing this robe' . "My name is Maya and I'm also a first year, I have an older sibling who graduated from Hogwarts just last year. How about you, do you have any siblings?"
They started eating together and Maya felt herself finally calming down. It turned out, she wasn't her usual self when she was hungry. Eventually Cassie - Cassieopia? She had said her friends called her Cassie, were they really friends now? - asked her about the Slytherin common room. Maya thought for a bit "It's pretty nice I think, we can see some creatures of the Great Lake which is my favorite part" She smiled as she thought about it, she found the creatures interesting. "It gives pretty much gothic energy , but I gotta admit its a bit too dark for my liking. It's still pretty cool though." She took a bite from her food. " Game nights are definitely fun, we also had those a few times. What kind of board games did you play?"
She ate a bit before answering Cassie's question about reading. "Yeah, I do sometimes. My favorite genre would probably be fantasy when it comes to fictional books..but i like books to learn stuff too, for example about the wizarding word, thats why I also like going to the Hogwarts Library. What about you? What kind of books do you like?"
