Erumpent Encounter

ERUMPENT ENCOUNTER
Under the late afternoon sun, students were ushered to the outside portion of the Wildlife and Nature Class area. The Wildlife and Nature classes allow students to explore the barns and paddocks where the school boasts a variety of magical and mundane animals. Today the students were going to be treated to a guest, an alum of Uagadou who went on to become a well respected magizoologist, Tau Ndlovu. Nadira and Tau walked up to the front of the group of students who had gathered for today's last event. Nadira smiled before she began speaking. "Hello everyone, today we will be learning more about different creatures, specifically some we have housed here. And as a special treat you will be able to work with a student who graduated from Uagadou, Tau Ndlovu. Tau would you like to say a few words before we begin?"
Nadira passed it over to Tau who stood nearly a foot taller than Nadira. With his impressive stature it was easy to almost feel intimidated by him but as he began speaking everyone would soon see he was friendly and truly passionate about his field. "Today we will begin by looking at some smaller creatures, like the Bowtruckle and Flobberworm then move on to some others like Fire Crab, Diricawl and Porlock." He listed the creatures out before a smirk came onto his face. "Lastly, as a not so little surprise for you all, you will all be able to come with me and meet our very own Erumpent!" As Tau looked out over the surprised and excited faces of the students before him he became even more excited to show off his knowledge on all of the creatures. "We also have an area set up where you can meet some of our non magical animal friends, some chickens, cows, goats and boars. Feel free to ask me any questions and please remember to be respectful to our little friends we are meeting today."

It was the afternoon after the Trekking Adventure, and Bella, along with the rest of her classmates, were led to an area outdoors where they could learn more about the Wildlife and Nature Classes there at Uagadou.
Bella watched, slightly sweating under the burning hot sun, as Headmistress Nadira introduced Tau Ndlovu, a magizoologist who was also an alum at Uagadou. Bella was super excited to learn that they were going to be able to know more about the interesting creatures Uagadou housed (although she hoped that they would be able to go to a shader spot).
Bella had to be honest, a lot of the creatures Tau listed out she didn't know well. The Fire Crab and Porlock she has heard of, as well as Flobberworm. However, creatures like the Bowtruckle and Diricawl came up only once or twice, and she was never able to go deeper into the study of them.
"...our very own Erumpent!" Tau exclaimed. Bella realized that she had stopped listening and got lost in her thoughts in the middle of his speech, but when she looked at the cheering, she could guess what was going on. Uagadou housed an Erumpent, and Bella was SO excited to go see it if possible.
She chuckled when Tau mentioned non-magical animal friends. Back at London, she had gone to the zoo to see non-magical animals every year or so. Now, she was glad to be able to see different, special magical animals, though she was also happy to get some normality back into her life.
She turned to the student next to her. "What do you think of the creatures here? Exciting, right?"

Elara listened quietly as Headmistress Bakari introduced Tau. She looked up at him when he started talking, especially when he began listing the creatures they would be seeing. Bowtruckle. Flobberworm. Fire Crab. She knew some of the names, though she had never seen any of them before. Her eyes drifted towards the barns for a moment. Then she heard Erumpent. Elara looked back at Tau. An Erumpent. She had seen pictures of them before, but that was about it. Seeing one in person sounded exciting. Maybe a little frightening too. Hopefully it won't be too close. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her notebook. There was no need to write everything down, but she wanted to remember the names. She wrote them on the page one by one. Bowtruckle. Flobberworm. Fire Crab. Diricawl. Porlock. Her pencil stopped when she got to the last one. Erumpent. Elara underlined it once before closing the notebook.
The other animals sounded easier. Chickens, cows and goats were animals she had at least seen before. Boars were less familiar. She wondered if they would be kept near the others or somewhere separate. Her attention returned to Tau when he reminded everyone to be respectful. Elara nodded slightly. That seemed obvious to her. They were still animals, after all. Magical or not. She held her notebook against her side and glanced around the area again. The barns were bigger than she had expected. There were several paddocks nearby, though she couldn't tell which one belonged to which creature. Her gaze settled on one of them for a few seconds. She still couldn't see anything from where she was standing. Elara shifted her notebook to her other hand and waited to see where they would go first. She looked towards Bella when she heard her question. "Yeah. I'm excited!" she said. "I haven't seen most of these before." Her eyes went back towards the paddocks. "I think I'd like to see the Bowtruckle first." She looked down at her notebook again. "Though the Erumpent sounds interesting too."
