It was a relatively nice day- no extra casualties- except for the rumors that had been passing around.
Kip had heard them, sure, but at this point, what point was there to yell at people who weren't there?
She had wandered into the courtyard, sitting down, her auburn hair seemingly more fluffy in the nice sun. Her two pointed star clip also shined- in that moment, she coudln't quite remember what her past thoughts were-
She wished she didn't bite- well, she didn't do it literally, but..
Every time someone approached she acted cocky and mean and rude and... Well, she just wanted to stop. It was easier said than done, though, as each time, the words flew out before she could think, and eventually, she was spouting nonsense-
To think about it, the only house in Hogwarts she hadn't dissed yet was Slytherin- which, was because no one of that house had approached her yet- she jinxed herself, by thinking that.
She had been feeling very tired during that time, just sitting there in the warm sun, letting out a small yawn. The minutes ticked by- they blurred into a timeline she couldn't be bothered to track. Feeling peaceful like this... She wanted to stay like this forever, eyes slightly closed.
She couldn't see anything wrong with that- maybe if she was calm, people wouldn't judge her as much, side eyeing her when they passed her in the halls- while she felt as if everyone always had their eyes on her, the truth was, they didn't.
Her mind still made her think that, though. And, if you have never experienced that feeling, it was better you never do.
Homework was hard, magic was hard, everything was hard for her, it seemed. She wished she could be as smart as Ravenclaws, as calm as Hufflepuffs, and as strong as Slytherins and Gryffindors.
She felt as if she didn't truly belong anywhere, really. What good was pretty blue eyes when every time you looked at someone, anger seeped out of them? What good was healthy, fluffy Auburn colored hair if every time it bounced, it was while you were stomping away from your problems?
She wished she was a muggle- destined to stay away from sorcery.. But what choice did she have? None, as her whole family before her had been a wizard or witch. None of them had had the same problems as her, though..
From all the thinking, poor Kip had fallen asleep, drowning away any of her doubts, like rain washing away.
Around an hour passed by when she finally awoke, her eyes fluttering open, as she looked up at the sky- the sky, the same color as her eyes. The sky, the one she wished she could fly away into, never to be seen again- stuck in a loop of forever calmness. Maybe she could even become a constellation, then people would always have a memory of her- though, she doubted it would be a good memory- maybe they would look up and discuss about how horrible she was.
...
She stayed there, unaware of the Slytherin who would be appearing, changing the course of events that would've happened if he hadn't come.

Silas, spent most of his day, as per usual, walking around with his nose in a book. Today however people seemed to be crowding quite a bit. He has made a couple friends since his time here but he cannot seem to find any. He did manage to eventually asked a hufflepuff girl what's going on. She informs him that evidentially there's a ball of sorts going on. A ball? He has naturally had a school dance in his earlier years. Normally the teachers paired him off with someone at random but that random person was always someone quiet. By themselves. While he quite enjoys being left alone events like this should make everyone happy. Walking out to the main courtyard he see dozens of groups many of which have a variety of houses in them. On this particular day however he spots a lone Gryfindor. It would be quite rude to simply bluntly toss out the question but maybe he can strike up conversation! He takes a deep breath. Raises his chin slightly and walks over. He stops a couple paces from her smiling and nearly gives her a bow as he says.
"Hello! I don't believe I've seen you around before. Quite the gathering going on today, have you heard of the event coming? Oh! Where are my manners, my name is Silas Vance. It's quite nice to make your acquaintance. May I have your name?"
More recently he has gained a bit of confidence approaching people in such a way, he has no reason to suspect she will react poorly to him but in the end he does hope they get along regardless of how she reacts to the initial greeting.

Kip was snapped out of her trance- or, at least, being lost in thought.
She looked up, an almost dreamy look on her face, her blue eyes seemingly glowing from the sun as she turned her head towards him-
Stunning blue eyes- check.
Auburn colored hair- check.
The two first years had both been thinking the same checklist- for different reasons- Kip was disappointed that she hadn't simply floated away, while, on the Slytherins side, the checklist was for..
...Well, when the same description floated around the school, just without a name, it was hard not to recognize it.
Kip inhaled deeply, starting to talk, "My name is Kip Monroy, and of course I have," she wasn't quite angry, but feelings were starting to arise- she hadn't even thought too much about it now..
But, now that she was thinking about it, it was hard to not have it repeat in her head- and she had absolutely no one who would even want to go with her- Who would? Well, she was an angry, stubborn first year, no one looked past that, so she never did either.
...
Kip held in a sigh, tilting her head slightly at the boy, confused why he would come up to her- "Uhm.. Anyway, did you need something, or..?" If she was honest, she would scared she would get angry again-
No, she must not think about that- for if she did, it was likely she would end up that way.. So, she simply took a deep breath, before fixing her posture slightly and looking back up at the sky, analyzing the clouds.
One of them looked like a crow flying. She liked that.

He smiles slightly at her he's not sure whether or not he approached her in the wrong way but he'd like to commit to it regardless. After all he does not have a gryfindor friend yet, and this would be a great chance too!
“Its a pleasure meeting you kip, I don't mean to presume but I have yet to acquire a partner for the event and you seemed to, at least in the moment, be by yourself. Would it interest you if we talk a bit? Get to know each other.” He flashes a genuine smile. “I for one would feel terribly uncomfortable to going to such a event on my own. At least at the start. I have some friends I believe are going but I think it's a great opportunity to try and make new friends! Assuming you'd even want to go with me that is.” He rubs his left knuckle with his right hand as it rest gently against his front. A bad nervous habit he has but it helps making the nervousness stay on the inside rather then creeping into his speech or body movements. It is from this angel one could notice his eyes are not simply grey but rather a greenish grey. Unfortunately it requires the sun to hit it in just a specific way as to illuminate the color that's there.

Kip stiffened at the mention of the ball- it had been getting closer, and she hadn't even realized it- she had just pushed it to the side, not caring.
She hesitated for a second- before really thinking it over. If she had someone for the ball, people wouldn't think she was entirely alone and weird. The rumors could even go away!
This excited her, so she looked towards him, tilting her head slightly. "I mean, we can talk, if that's you really want," she murmured, trying to hide what she was really thinking.
She shifted slightly, letting out a small sigh, looking back towards the sky, closing her eyes for a second. The breeze had felt incredibly nice.. But, anyway.
After a couple seconds of silence, Kip had gotten bored of just sitting there, so she calmly started to stand up, dusting herself off once she was entirely up, making sure no small pebbles or leaves were left on her black, required robe.
In the moment, she didn't know exactly what to say- just listening to the other students talk loudly to their friends. Her face was slightly starting to go red from embarrassment, until..-
A pine cone from the tree right above her fell, hitting her squared on the head.
She let out a confused chirp, looking up with a scowl as she brang her hands up to lightly hover the spot on her head that had been hit for a second- before dropping them back to her sides.
She puffed out her cheeks, sticking her tongue slightly out at the tree, thinking to herself, 'Trees these days, so impolite,' completely forgetting that trees weren't conscious and it was just bad luck that she had been hit.
...
In this moment, she had looked childishly cute.

Silas cant help but chuckle at that a bit, though he does make the effort to cover his mouth with his hand and turn his face. I mean the timing is somewhat rich isn't it? What are the odds of that anyways. At any rate she is clearly feeling nervous by the look of her. His eyebrow raises slightly when she sticks her tongue out at the tree again making him hold in a laugh even harder now. Through a bit of shaky words he says:
“Sorry, sorry are you hurt in anyway? I assume your not but still.”He finally calms himself and continues. “I would enjoy talking, and by the way I am sure plenty of your friends are going to the ball too so do not be too concerned with staying with me the whole night. Not that you can't of course! There is more then simply dancing to my memory, have you heard of all the events happening?” He is, unconsciously, rocking on the balls of his feet currently. He is feeling incredibly awkward right now however not particularly in a bad way. This simply isn't a topic hes... Well confident in and therefore mostly is just unsure if he is being interesting so to speak. He does however take a mental note that he likely should be practing on how to dance as he is now realizing he never has.

Kip looked back towards him, a small, lopsided smile on her face. For Kip, it had felt so nice to smile- she hadn't really done that at all from the time she joined Hogwarts until now..
She almost froze at the 'friends' part, as she didn't really have too many friends- really just.. Like, maybe one..? Well, she tried to make sure she didn't show it, quickly responding- "I mean, it would be fine either way," she hummed, looking down at the ground.
...
She paused, looking back at him, in confusion. "Other events? I thought it would just be dancing and talking," She murmured sheepishly-
Well, apart of originally not wanting anything to do with the ball, she hadn't really listened to the explanations of it-..
She was sure it would be fine, though. Despite the fact she couldn't dance at all, everything would be fine...
The small chirping of a song Bird popped Kip out of her trance, so, she started talking again. "Do you think you'd end up going with your friends?" She sounded almost a bit... Unsure.
What she was planning on doing was if he did, she simply would part ways during the ball before he could, so then she didn't feel left behind- if not, she would stay with him..
Of course, she hid this thought really well- not even a sign of it popping out into her posture. She had brought a hand up, twirling a few strands that were just the slightest bit curled around her finger.
She didn't even realize she was doing it, for the most part.. Well, not that that mattered.
Kip- let a small, barely audible sigh. She knew it would be getting busy soon.. Like, really, really busy..
OOC: Of course, and thanks! I thought it would be fun to have a random pine cone fall in :3

He looks at her tilting his head slightly and smiling.
“Well naturally not immediately that would be incredibly rude. From what I remember there is a haunted maze, a game of monopoly and naturally the mingling. Would it bother you if I went off in the tail end of the ball? If seems many students had planned something similar. You can of course join me? I can introdce you to plenty of people! Oh and fair warning I'm not the best of dancers but I will definitely try my best!” He laughs at himself a bit as the thought of him dancing and falling is quite funny. He shakes his head at the thought the refocusing on her.“But I would happy to go with you, you seem quite nice maybe by the end of the night we may even end up friends.” His head drifts off to the maze. He simply must remember to not cast anything in a panic, he does not do well with sudden frights and he imagines that as ghost exist they will be joining in. How incredibly terrifying. Nonetheless the food should be splendid there! I mean often times food at Hogwarts is, why have any exceptions now! He does wonder if they'll have more then simply water, maybe a flavored drink for the occasion... He isn't sure if he actually cares or if he's simply just hungry currently.
