Welcome BBQ

The curly haired boy bounced into a small clearing which seemed to the be the BBQ area. His blonde hair caught a small breeze and got ruffled in the wind, making it even messier than it already was. He glanced around seeing Greta had run off to see a familiar face. A small smile made his way onto his face to see her happy and interacting with other people. It wasn't fair that she was tied down to their little group just cause of her brother. Milo gave a little wave to Greta before glancing around. He noticed a chatty girl that seemed nice and hesitantly approached her and two other girls whom she was talking to. "Ahem- Allo, is this the Barh-bay-que?" He asked, his English getting rumbled together making his Russian accent slip out. The young boy tugged at his rainbow sleeves nervously and the tips of his ears turned red.Mentions: @Evelynn Decipio Interactions: @Sky Evans, @Carolyn Hunt & @Nell Zoldak
This was his first interaction with people other than his friend group. He glanced around the clearing again to look out for Greta if he needed an escape. He hummed when waiting for the girls response before a specific fruit caught his eye. "Oh is that vatermelon? I've always vanted to try it!" His eyes lit up as he surveyed the food. Sure there was watermelon back home, but maybe it was better here? He also never got a chance to try many simple foods. It was all fancy for his family because they were a "proud pureblood family". The boy could care less, he heard that there was going to be lots of good food to try and he wasn't a picky eater and definitely liked food, especially sweets. He nearly startled himself as a sudden thought popped into his head. "Oh my gosh, vere are my manners! I am Milosh Rehnquist, but you can call me Milo. And you three are?" He had nodded his head to them politely for it was either a head nod or a firm handshake upon meeting a person for the first time or so his father instructed him. But then again, his father wasn't here so he wouldn't have to worry. At that thought a giant smile warmed his face.
I shall have fun here, no thinking about home, just relax and enjoy your time here.

"Come on, we're late!" Those were Dee's words as she dragged her best friend from between the tents in direction of the place where the Welcome BBQ party was happening. It wasn't true, technically - how could you be late to an open, entirely voluntary event like this, where people would be arriving and leaving as they wished through the whole evening? But it felt like it to the little Ravenclaw, anyway, because it had already started, so what if they were missing something?
The past 48 hours with her new tent mates which had primarily been spent setting up camp had been... well, interesting, she supposed, but she was really looking forward to spend some nice, relaxing time socialising without the immediate danger of being hit with a flying object, and to get in a few hours in company of people who weren't likely to strangle her or anyone else at a moment's notice.
When they reached the crowd of people, the BBQ was already in full swing, people waiting for their food, forming groups, talking. There were a lot of faces she recognized, class mates and Professors, and quite a few she didn't, who were then probably students from Durmstrang or Ilvermorny - or just older Hogwarts students she hadn't taken note of in the hallways of the castle. Dealla wasn't exactly known for paying a lot of attention to people who didn't concern her directly.
Now the only problem was finding the people they were actually looking for. They had made plans to meet up with Syl and Aida here, but being the petite almost-second year that she was, finding someone in a crowd of people was proving to be a challenge.
"Can you see them anywhere?" she asked Ileen while she was balancing on her tippy toes, fingers spread out next to her in an unconscious effort for balance, and tried to spot Aida's shockingly white hair anywhere. She should be a lot easier to see than Syl, at least, who didn't stand out nearly as much - but then, who did?
They passed a group of girls, some of which Dee knew, who seemed to be grouped around one guy who'd she'd never seen before - was he handing out sweets, maybe? - and Dealla considered just stopping to ask them if they had seen a girl with white hair and white skin probably dressed in white, when she finally spotted Aida. Her friend was dressed a lot more colourfully than usual, with a bright red shirt, and Dealla wasn't sure if it made her stand out more or less than normal, but sure enough, there was Syl's familiar head of brown hair right next to her.
"Ah, there they are," Dee notified Ileen, excitement clear in her voice, and took off in a jog towards her friends, who she then basically jumped at from behind, wrapping one arm around each of their necks to swing in between them.
"Hiiii," she trilled at them, energy singing brightly from her voice, and only then noticed that they were in company of another boy, one she didn't know.
"Oh, hi," she greeted him with a bright, friendly smile. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your conversation. I'm Dee, nice to meet you!"

Carolyn was just called to pick up her food when her tent mate decided to show up. She was glad to see her here. Truth to be told, she wasn’t sure any of her roommates would show up. Although if one of them did, she supposed it would be Sky. The young witch still wasn’t quite sure what to make of her. She sounded incredibly posh and carried herself with pride, back straight and chin up. Although to be fair, Carolyn did the same, only for different reasons. It was the ballerina in her that kept her perfect posture. Still, she hated judgemental people and so she would never judge anyone before actually getting to know them. Not to mention Sky seemed to be pretty nice or at least she was trying. Was she different? Sure. Carolyn had more gentle nature to her but she didn’t mind different. On the contrary, it made things more interesting.
“Hello, Sky! I’m glad you decided to join me,” she greeted the young Slytherin with a smile. “It’s certainly a sight to behold. I don’t think I have ever seen anything like it…and the food looks delicious. You should definitely try something, unless you are fine with just the fruit of course.” She didn’t want to assume everybody came here starving.
Before she could ask anything else though, there was another voice joining in. A boy’s voice on top of that. She was definitely not expert on those but she was curious nonetheless. Especially after hearing his accent. “Yes, yes it is. And there is plenty of food to try. Feel free to grab something from the table,” she answered his first question with a smile. The boy actually looked about their age, maybe slightly older and he seemed to be a bit shy, which made him much more approachable. Also, apparently the watermelon was incredibly interesting to him. The enthusiasm almost made her chuckle but she stopped herself in time. She didn’t want him to think she was mocking him. That was definitely not her intention. “I’m Carolyn, Carolyn Hunt,” she introduced herself to Milosh after he did the same, nervously offering her hand. This was usually how she greeted new people. “Nice to meet you Milo. Are you from Durmstrang?” She opted to use the shorter version of the boy’s name to avoid butchering his name. She could probably do it but better be safe than sorry. It also seemed more friendlier to do so.

Cash's rise their left eyebrow when Selene mention their outfit like a peasant. They should be insulted with the way Selene said it but then the other girl mean no harm and saying something about makeover. Cash examine the girl attire. She wore kimono-silk with tie around her middle.
It definitely scream 'rich Slytherin pureblood kids' type of outfit and she is not afraid to flaunt it. Then Selene said something that she wants to grab from the barbeque table. Cash nodded at that. When Selene walked away, Cash look at their dorm mate stopping near a red head girl. It look like Selene saying something to the girl then pour some of her punch 'accidentally'.
From Cash situated it seems their dorm mate finally got her revenge on the poor girl. Cash only shake their head and get up from where they are, bringing the dirty dishes and utensils then direct their feet to the refreshment table.

"My name Cassandra, Cash for short. First Year"They introduced their name to the blonde girl. Their Cuban accent is palpable. Cash never saw the girl around Hogwarts before. The only logical answer is that the girl either from Durmstrang or Ilvermorny. "I have not seen you around Hogwarts before, are you from Durmstrang or Ilvermorny?"Cash enquires the girl.
Cash then look around. The loud murmuring chatter around the ground seems increasing with how many people turn up at this place. Cash then rub the back of their neck, feeling a bit awkward. It is so out of character for them to walk up to stranger and strike a conversation.

Aurelia rushed out of her tent. She had completely forgotten about the Welcome BBQ. Angrily she stomped over to the party, where a lot of students had already assembled, some faces familiar, others not. She went grabbed herself a burger patty and let a teacher grill it for her. Then, she added tomato, lettuce, ketchup and cheese. She also placed a few french fries on her plate to go with the burger.
Aurelia looked around, all the new faces were a bit intimidating, maybe she would have a talk with students from other schools later. But amidst all the chaos, she spotted a familiar red-headed girl. "Ah, Hi Rose!", she smiled as she reached the table. There was a boy sitting with her. "Hi! Eyre wasn't it?", she had met him at the slumber party and he seemed quite polite.
As she got nearer she noticed that something had been spilt on Rose's sweated that lay beside her. One of her eyebrows raised, what had happened here? She relayed that to Rose: "What, what happened to your sweater?", she pointed at it in confusion. Who would have done that? Then, she took a seat next to Rose and Eyre and began munching on her food. It was quite good, but Aurelia had made sure to steer clear of any sweet beverages, she had had enough butterbeer at the slumber party. She was happy that she had finally made it.

Ileen followed her best friend with a soft snorting noise. “Relax. They won’t manage to eat all the food in such a short time. I bet everyone else is also late.” She rolled her eyes at the overdramatic hurry. “I mean – who’s ever on time for a party anyways?”
It was more keeping to her habits reacting like that. Of course, Dee was overdramatic. They surely were not missing anything exciting at the moment – only if people eating was the new number one topic.
But the young Slytherin was happy enough to escape from the tense situation and the idiots in her tent – seriously, if someone chose a group of people with the intention to cause as much drama as possible, they could hardly have done better.
Also, she was looking forward to seeing Syl and Aida again. All in all, Ileen couldn’t wait to be in the company of some familiar people and not having to pay attention all the time to not get hit by an attack.
She also brought her brand new camera. Hopefully, there would be some opportunities to take some funny and nice pictures. She couldn’t wait to use it.
With a sigh, she pushed up the sleeves of her black and white striped sweatshirt. It was still pleasantly warm and she hoped that it would not cool down too much later. Unfortunately, she had left her jacket in the tent, but Dee would probably kill her if she turned around again. Well, they’d see how long they would stay there anyways.
Her eyes widened a bit when they reached the area of the Welcome BBQ party. Okay, maybe she had been wrong. There were already loads of people. A little worried she tried to get a glimpse of the tables with the food – was there still some left? She was starving!
When Dee asked her about Aida and Syl, Ileen remembered her first project and turned her focus away from the food. She would still have a chance to grab something later. “Uhm, no, not yet.” She stood on her toes and stretched her neck. Although she was a little taller than Dee, a couple of older and taller students covered her sight. “I mean, I could pick you up?” she offered with a cheeky grin, following her friend into the crowd.
Carefully she dodged some arms, filled glasses and wildly gesticulating students while she wriggled through the crowd with Dee. The Ravenclaw might not have heard her, but it didn’t matter anyways, because at that very moment they spotted them almost at the same time.
While her best friend stormed off joyfully, Ileen followed her a little slower. The few seconds didn't matter either. A broad smile appeared on her lips as she approached the group. Syl’s brown, fuzzy hair was unmistakable and Aida's white hair stood out as always. It was nice to see them again.
Dee was already hanging between the two of them, probably strangling them in her enthusiasm, when Ileen reached them.
“Hey Syl, hi Aida!” Ileen's eyes sparkled and her smile deepened. “Sorry, we kept you waiting.”
Only then she noticesd another familiar face in the small group. Surprised and delighted, she turned to the older Gryffindor, whom she had met while folding tea bags. "Hey Alan, good to see you. How are you?" She felt a bit bad since their last encounter had ended kind of abruptly. Her cheeks turned pink and she bit her lower lip in embarrassment. Well, maybe he had forgotten about it? Anyway, it hadn’t been anything personal. At least not towards him.

He was about to ask Rose about why she didn't come to the sleepover, when a girl that he recognized from the sleepover had approached them.
"Yeah, Eyre." He answered her with a polite smile, still nursing his cup of water. "Your name is...Aurelia, right?" He asked her. He wasn't sure if it was the right name, he knew that there was at least one other Aurelia in the group, but it sounded right to him.
"Someone just came by and ran into her. Got punch everywhere." He said with a groan. He finished up the rest of his water and decided that he needed more if he wanted to keep himself from dying. He stood up, his burns feeling significantly better. His head felt woozy, still, but he admittedly felt less close to death than he did awhile ago.
"Would either of you like something to drink?" He asked them. "I'm going to get more water. Actually... I could use some food, too." He thought out loud, his stomach starting to growl. He hadn't had anything to eat today, save for the fruit that he had stolen from Logan when he was in the throes of heatstroke, and the food that Aurelia was eating was tempting him. Hopefully there was enough left over for him.

Hogwarts students were odd. At least that was what Ash thought when he arrived at the London Quiddich stadium, people from the three schools, Drumstrang, Hogwarts and Ilvermorny were swarming all around in their little tents. Most of his supposed friends had a gang. Like Hanzo. But he was that kind of solitary guy that didn't like to talk. He was terrible at socializing and didn't talk much. When someone tried to communicate with him, he just gazed at the floor or wall or the mere distance, lost in his thoughts.
His childhood wasn't easy. Having lost his mother and his father having left him made him sad, unsocial and completely terribly raised. As a matter of fact, he was almost impossible.
When he got out of his tent, he looked around. There was that bbq thing. He didn't want to miss it, but he also, wanted to stay were he was. With a sight, Ash went to see what the bloody hell was going on. He walked slowly until he reached the crowded place. He looked around and then stared at @Saskia Nicholson. She was pretty, he thought, prettier than these Drumstrang girls he had seen at school. Another deep sight and he looked around at the professors. Then, she heard a accent he knew well. He reached out to see someone and a girl talking in- Russian? Norweigan? He hadn't heard well, but he knew that language. He went to see what a boy of at least fourteen was doing. He half grimaced half smiled at the boy (@Alan Vanes iNPC) and waved at the girl (@Thomas Lestrange's iNPC) hopefully, they would recognize him from Drumstrang.

Aida gladly took the rapid hug Sylvain offered and shook her head over his question about food. She had totally bypassed the food and headed straight for him. For a while now her sleep deprivation had been suppressing her appetite, so she was now approaching Griffith-level food avoidance habits.
Having been rather out of it, nervous, and overly excited about the prospect of having found her friend group and getting further out of the range of public interaction had made her completely overlook Alan and Santario’s presence. “Greetings,” said Santario, whom Aida had never met. The Slytherin’s tone of voice reminded Aida of Ivy Bellamy’s several months ago. However, before Aida could reply with a greeting or wonder if she would alienate this girl, too, Santario was already leaving to apparently cook her food. Alan began talking about chocolate frogs, causing Aida to notice that he was also interacting with this group. Aida had been developing a chocolate frog card collection, though it was by no means a passion of hers. Rather than alienate him, too, during a lull in the conversation Aida waved gently and if she got his attention she would mention her name and school house.
Suddenly from behind came a pattering of feet as Dee jumped on Aida and Sylvain with an arm around each of their necks. "Hiiii," said Dealla. Aida instantly became happier and squished further into a semi-hug in greeting. Then came Ileen.
“Hey Syl, hi Aida!” said the knight. Aida smooshed out of her hug with Dee and jumped towards Ileen in a hug for her, too. Aida was even happier. She had three awesome friends with her now. She was even beginning to forget that she looked like a garish red hibiscus, what with the blouse’s poofy sleeves billowing in the slightest of winds.
Now that greetings had been passed to everyone around, Aida was excited to hear where the group’s conversation would go. What developments had been going on in her friends’ lives? Aida grew quiet as she focused on observing all of her friends… but she did have to ask one question.
“Dee, do you still want to see the cave this summer after the camp is over?”

Welcome BBQ
rping as iNPC Maksim Preobrazhensky [x] interacting with Vyacheslav Preobrazhensky (@Ruby Cazares), and a whole lot of other people. i lost track. oops.
open to interactions, but please dm/owl me!If dialogue is in italics, Maksim is speaking in Russian.Maksim grimaced as his brother pointed out the gaggle of girls who'd seemingly swarmed Alexei Petrov (@Anastasia Beckett), and his smile slipped slightly. His gaze lingered on one of the redheads (@Frost Cira) in particular, however, and his smile widened once more. "Don't worry," he said confidently, "Petrov has nothing on me." He made up his mind to seek out the redhead who'd caught his eye later on, and possibly snag some more bystanders to Petrov's impending car crash of a conversation, but he had some food to get, first.
Maksim made a strange face but laughed at the grill man's "joke", if you could even call it that. He made a mental note to look up the word he'd mentioned later, but it sounded like something flowy- maybe Italian? Or French? He couldn't think of anyone off the top of his head who spoke either of those languages, and chances were, he'd forget the word long before he had a chance to ask someone about it. Maybe it was funny to British people, and wasn't meant for Russians to understand. Regardless, he still laughed politely, not wanting to offend the man who could potentially burn his food.
Maksim had nearly bowled over @Lucia Fox in his hunt for a beverage, so he was glad that Slava was there to pick up the slack where he was lacking. He considered himself to be a gentleman, of course, but all of the social stimulants surrounding him were nearly overwhelming- nearly being the key word. After all, the extroverted Durmstrang student thrived in social situations such as these, and he'd take on every challenge thrown at him with gusto. "Come on," he said impatiently to Slava, casting a brief smile back at the dark-haired girl, "I'm so thirsty." Pausing, before the two headed off in search of soda, Maksim added hastily with a wide smile. "We are Maksim-" he said, and gestured to himself, and then to Slava standing next to him. "And Vyacheslav Preobrazhensky. And I am very thirsty, so if you could excuse us, we are to get some beverages."
Maksim examined the options that @Kateri Karr laid out in front of him with interest, his gaze flickering from one soda to the next as he took it all in. He flashed a nervous smile at Milena Orlova (@Glen Pope) standing next to him as Slava made his way over to the drink stand, and greeted her politely. "Hello, Orlova," he said with a courteous nod. "I like your dress!" They weren't friends, not even close, and Max was rather put off by Orlova's rather cold exterior, but it didn't hurt to be nice to everyone- after all, it had already paid off with the woman in the hat serving him soda.
"Thank you, miss," he said in response to Karr's invitation for him to peruse other options, "But I think this one will be fine for me!" Maksim grabbed one of the soda rather arbitrarily, not really caring which specific flavor it was that he would choose. What did it matter, so long as he ended up with a fizzy, carbonated drink in his hand? And, finally, it seemed that Slava had decided to join him, bantering with him in Russian once more. "The girl with the brown hair is quite pretty, and your age," Maksim said with a subtle nod towards @Saskia Nicholson, although with Milena standing by them, he made an effort to keep his voice low enough so she wouldn't hear.
There was no planet in which she'd approve of the two talking about women like this, so once Slava picked one of the sodas, Maksim would steer him by the elbow back towards Grill Master @Caradoc Browne. "I've got my eye on a girl," he confessed in a low voice, "So let's grab our food, then divide and conquer, okay?" Retrieving his plate of meat from the professor, Maksim made a show of taking a large bite of his patty in front of the man. However, his reaction was genuine, and his face lit up in delight as he tasted the deliciously grilled meat. "I love you, sir!" he exclaimed with a happy sigh, chewing thoughtfully. "This is very delicious. You make a great medium-rare meat, sir! Thank you!" Ah, yes, the key to winning over any teenage boy's respect: feed him some good food.
Glancing around for the redhead he'd spotted earlier, Maksim locked eyes with Ella Forsberg (@Thomas Lestrange), who seemed to be staring at him as well. He knew of her old brother, Nichlas (@Alan Vanes), although they didn't know each other well. Seriously, why didn't he know any of these people better? It was a shame, really, that he was so far disconnected from his classmates. Regardless, he waved to the younger girl with an open smile, calling out to her in Russian, "Forsberg! Hello! If the Brit scares you too much, you can always come and eat with me." Not in like, a romantic way, or anything. Just friendly Durmstrang students, looking out for one another. Maksim offered a smile to Nichlas, too, although he doubted that the elder Forsberg would return it.
Speaking of younger Durmstrang students he only sort of knew, Milosh Rehnquist (@Annie Morgan) caught his eye, dressed in bright, eye-catching colors. "Rehnquist!" he hollered across the field. "I like your clothes! If you want, you can come eat with me!" Of course, as he seemed to be deep in conversation with some girls, he doubted that Milosh would want to relinquish their company to hang out with him. Still, it was always polite to extend the invitation.
Rather, Maksim focused in on his sole target: Frost. Well, Frost was in the midst of Alexei's gaggle of girls, who he'd have to get by before he got a chance to talk to the attractive young woman. Not only was she pretty, but she had excellent style, too, which truly appealed to him. Making his way over to the trashier version of himself, Maksim smiled hello to all of the people standing around Alexei. "Petrov," he said quickly, "You two-faced scoundrel. I can't believe you haven't scared all of these girls away with your stench and your ego." Slapping his hand on Alexei's back rather aggressively, his well muscled arm now draped over Petrov's shoulders like they were old chums, he continued, "Why don't you just leave the charming to me? You'll embarrass yourself if you keep it up- just look at what happened at Durmstrang!" All of this was said with a wide, charming smile, however, so there was no possible way for the non-Russian speakers around them to understand his biting words.
"Miss," he said suddenly, his arm lifting from Alexei's shoulder as he turned to Frost, turning his charm on to the max. "I can't seem to find any uh... tissues? Or paper towels. I know you'd hate to depart from your friends and your boyfriend here, but if you don't mind showing me where they are, I'd be forever grateful, miss." Throwing the redhead a saucy wink, Maksim nodded towards... well, wherever away from Alexei's cult gathering was. "Yes? Fantastic. Then let us go! Sorry to steal her for a moment or two, Petrov. I hope you won't mind too terribly."maksim's clothes [x]
