Fly with me? Closed

James was still trying to recover from his nervousness at being sorted. He was very, very happy with being sorted into Hufflepuff, but the reality of being at Hogwarts was still sinking in.
For now, to try and calm his nerves, he decided to take a walk around the grounds before it got too late. He was looking around for something of interest. He saw the Gamekeeper's Hut a distance away, and he saw the lake, which he might go to later.
But then, something in the sky caught his eye. It was hard to make out at first, but after squinting his eyes, James saw that it was someone flying alone above the Quidditch Pitch.
His parents had told him about Quidditch and it was very intriguing to James. He wanted so desperately to join whoever that was flying up in the sky, but James did not have a broom of his own. Still, he was looking to make lots of new friends here at Hogwarts, so he headed over.
After a few minutes of walking, he entered into the Pitch, and looking around for a moment, he saw a girl who must have been the one he saw flying, because there was no one else around. He took a deep breath and approached her. When he came close enough for casual conversation, he made his presence known, not sure whether or not she had already seen him.
"Hello." James greeted her. James usually greets people with a variation of the word "hello" by saying "yellow" (his favorite color), but that's once he's used to them. 
James saw from her robes that she was Gryffindor. Not that it mattered to him, though. He wanted friends, no matter what house they were in. He had been told that Slytherins were not ones to mess with, but after hearing that, he was even more determined to make friends with at least one of them.
As James watched the girl in front of him, he was starting to feel just a tad bit shy, which was not a usual thing for him, but he figured if they ended up being friends, that would no longer be a problem.

Adeline was just walking around waiting for someone to show up when she heard someone say "Hello." When she turned around she saw a boy, "Hello there! I'm Adeline!" She told him. As she looked at him she could tell he was a Hufflepuff. Finally, she wasn't alone out here.

James smiled and nodded.
"Nice to meet you! I'm James!" he said, gesturing to his chest with an open hand.
"You said your name was... Adeline? That's a pretty name." James was surprised that he hadn't said it awkwardly and it came out as friendly and casual. He wasn't complaining though...
He glanced down at her broom that she held and decided to compliment her on it... or something like that...
"I saw you flying. You're pretty good!" he said.
Better than me... he thought, then laughed internally at himself.

"Nice to meet you, James! And thank you very much!" Adeline smiled at him slightly blushing at his compliments. she messed with the broomstick in her hand. He seems really nice. "Do you know how to fly?" she asked.

James felt a slight blush coming on at her question.
"Um, well, I know how to, but I'm not really good at it... kind of like math!"
James hoped she would laugh at his comedy... even though it was true that he wasn't very good at math.
"I love to fly! Well, not as much as some other things, but I've only flown once, and when I did it, I loved it!"

She giggled at his joke and blushed "Well, I could show you how to fly. That is if you wanted. do you?" she asked as she twiddled her thumbs hoping she could have a flying partner instead of have to fly alone all the time.

James was actually really excited to fly with someone.
"Nah, you'd be wasting your time..." James answered, getting ready to crack another joke. "I'd crash so often, you wouldn't even be able to tell me 'Watch Out!'"
James chuckled, hoping she would too, but then started thinking about it. She could fly well, but he really couldn't... but they both wanted to fly...
It didn't take long for James to get an idea.
"What if you drive and I ride along with you?" he asked.

Adeline giggled at his comment about crashing. She was kind of sad she wouldn't have someone to fly with her, then he said he would tag along. "That would be cool! I've never done it before but its gotta work!" Adeline hoped onto her broomstick and padded the spot next to her for James to get on.

James smiled and then swung one of his legs over the broom and sat down on it, expecting it to fall down to the ground. It didn't. James realized that it was levitating, or more, hoovering in the air. He still needed to get used to all of this magic.
He wondered what he should hold onto. Unlike Adeline, he did not have a length of wood to grab onto.
All that was in front of him was Adeline.
"Um, Adeline?" Do you mind if I hold onto you?" he asked, almost wincing at the way it sounded.
