Fire with Fire. OPEN

Everything would happen almost all at once. The explosion left soot on the wall, the armour and Norwood's face. Smoke filled the halls. The suit of armour began to lean and creak until it ultimately toppled over. The resounding crash resulted in outrage. Portraits too far down the corridor to have seen anything shrieked. Other students... well, at least they weren't too surprised.

Livia, seated primly in class, wished she could have seen the look on Norwood's face. As it was, the explosion itself was muffled, what with the door to the classroom being shut. The resulting clang, though, which had not been part of the plan? That was very soundly heard. A few of her classmates looked around in confusion. One excused himself and opened the door to see what had occurred. A hint of smoke began to enter the room; luckily, though, the individual exited quickly, shutting the door behind him. It now only smelled as if one of the candles lighting the room had thrown a slight fit.

Livia folded her hands in front of her and smiled with tight lips, readying herself to lift her hand to answer a question as if it were just a normal Thursday.

She would excuse herself later, but for now, attempting normalcy was imperative.

Outside the confines of the room, and largely unbeknownst to her, a mass of students had congregated. Few of them seemed to consider that Norwood might be innocent; given his demeanour and reputation, such an idea was nearly abhorrently impossible. Expressions of surprise were thrown about. Accusations, too.

But even as smoke billowed and Norwood appeared quite frazzled, one Avery Chen did not hesitate to make this situation a bit better for everyone involved. His Serenate was calmly and clearly uttered. His accuracy left room for improvement, but so did Norwood's evasive ability; the spell hit the boy square in the chest. A warm sensation not unlike that which was caused by confident bravado going well would fill his veins. The mechanics of what had occurred – the who, the what, the why, the how – would not take precedence in his mind; rather, pride and self-assurance would take to the forefront.

Another girl, who had come seemingly prepared, readied herself to launch a potion at Norwood. She tried, and she failed. It sailed through the air, neatly missing everyone in its path (though perhaps one might have stepped into its path). The girl would likely need to practise her accuracy before inserting herself into an actual fight.

Luckily for her, it remained to be seen whether this would devolve into one.

Unfortunately for Norwood, though, there was more than one method of derision. Though it likely would have gone unnoticed during the clamour, the movement from the knocked-over suit of armour had caused some small, creatively-modified exploding bonbons to fall and hit the ground. Minor external modifications allowed for a small delay, during which they rolled out from the smoke pouring out of the suit of armour's foot.

Pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-POP.

A number of smaller explosions sounded. Most of them remained near or within the smoke; some were ever stuck inside the suit of armour. Avery, Silas and Tina were the three unlucky ones. Avery and Tina were perceptive enough to realise something was off; their reflexes were lightning-fast as they tried to dodge. Silas lacked the same finesse. One bonbon would smack him in the leg as it exploded; he would be fine in the long run, but it would absolutely smart for a bit.

One could only wonder what Norwood would do, and if anyone else would have something to do or say regarding the situation at hand.

It didn’t take long for a crowd of people to show up. That was to be expected; curiosity was part of human nature. Silas couldn’t blame them. He was guilty of the same thing — that was what had drawn him here, after all, even before the explosions went off. As he stood there, surrounded by the smoke, he was still too intrigued to bother trying to escape. The initial split second of panic faded away into something closer to a peculiar peace. Of course Silas Norwood would manage to feel at home in the middle of chaos…

Unfortunately, the additional eyes on him did kind of mean that he needed to address what the hell had just happened, especially once people began accusing him with varying degrees of conviction. He ignored everyone who either hadn’t spoken or hadn’t addressed him directly. The first who did was a girl from his year who he had previously duelled. “Nothin’. D’ya want to be on fire again?” He wasn’t helping his case; it came out worse than intended, since he had meant for it to be more of a comment about her walking right over to a bunch of smoke instead of the implication that he would be personally setting her on fire. Still, he did not bother to correct himself. It wasn’t entirely wrong.

The next girl took a more aggressive approach, grabbing her wand and narrowing her eyes as she demanded to know what he did. “Nothin’!” he repeated, marginally more convincingly than when he spoke to Fawkes, raising his hands slightly as if in surrender. He didn’t want to get hexed for something he didn’t even do. Sadly, it was at that moment that the spell hit him, though he wasn’t aware that such a thing had transpired. Before he could stop himself, a smile spread across his face, making his claim seem less genuine.

He couldn’t be bothered to consider the potential consequences of that anymore. In fact, nothing bothered him. He was filled with confidence, an inner warmth dissipating any lingering concerns. Everything was and would be fine. He wasn’t in the wrong, so surely everyone would understand that. The smile stayed in place and his posture relaxed slightly. “That could've seriously hurt someone!” “Bu’ it didn’, did it? Everyone’s fiiiine, stop worryin’ so much.” He waved his hand dismissively. “This wasn’ even me, anyway.” The last part was directed towards all the people who had accused him. This situation is ridiculous. A half-amused laugh escaped his lips before he could realise how that would appear.

He wasn’t sure where, precisely, it was coming from, but another series of bangs soon went off, and something hit his leg. “Ow, fuck,” he mumbled, staring at where the stinging feeling was and leaning down to rub the area lightly before standing up again and moving a bit farther away. It didn’t bother him too much despite the pain, but maybe that was just because of how confident he was feeling. He sighed and leaned idly against a nearby wall, content to just exist here for the time being.

"Now I wonder who did this eh?" she scoffed and her irritation was directed at Silas Norwood. But, as perceptive as she was she couldn't help but feel like he wasn't the man that deface school property. Angel shook her head in disappointment, what would the Headmaster even make of this?

It was only getting worse when the situation was beginning to attract attention from other students from different houses, Angel was not amused with the chain reaction because nothing ever gets passed through Hogwarts especially it's attendees. She knew Silas Norwood, part of the Headliner committee and a notorious reputation around these very corridors or halls to be exact.

Two students who she did not seem to recall as their faces were foreign to her but still she believed those two were up to something that would not help deescalate the predicament at hand. The slytherin lad who seemed very unimpressed and that the situation was not peculiar to him at all like he was desensitized to such events. He casted serenate to Norwood and to the raven haired witch's face she was impressed that he was successful with casting the spell. Now, Norwood seemed very contented with what he "supposedly" done and with no sense of remorse or guilt. What a way to frame someone.

"Primitive really." she critiqued with a venom in her tone

"Finite Incantatem!" she said with clarity making sure every word was heard. Pointing at Norwood hopefully that the sudden euphoria would not deplete him of being cognizant.

Unfortunately the Ravenclaw girl was no wiser and decided to play troublemaker and threw a Babbling beverage, and at least she threw it poorly and it served the foolish lass who thought it was witty to even throwing such a vile without improving on her accuracy. If she was a professor, points would have been removed from the Ravenclaw and Slytherin house. Angel shudder at the very thought and probability.

"Really?" she said disapprovingly her voice coated in sardonic undertones

Two more birds committed to stay at the burning nest. Now these faces she regonized very well.

Fawkes Chaos, a Duellist and a Duelling Captain for the respective house that seemed to leave a horrid impression on the Slytherin. Angel knew Fawkes was one of the people who embodied their house's qualities quite well and she knew far too well she was much more smarter than the other Slytherin and Ravenclaw who didn't seem to show much promise anyway.

Tina Carilla, her first friend that she made back when they started as first years, outspoken and studious she felt very proud to have settled towards the right people who knew better and have better judgement. Angel nodded approvingly with Tina staying aback, very wise as always.

"Now it's certainly a pleasure to see you two again." she says with a playful tune

Fredrick Buckley, who she became good friends with back at the Alumni Quidditch match, but she was only met with surprise to have stumbled upon him too, Angel smiled and cocked her head slightly to the left.

"Mr.Buckley, Ms.Ann? You guys too huh?" she muttered

Millie Ann, the Ravenclaw was unfamiliar to her even though she had been aquatinted with her at Summer Camp in the mysteries department during summer break, however they never had any other sort of interaction besides that. Angel wanted a fresh start and decided to go beside the other Slytherin who look like to be around her age. Making friends was out of place for such a situation they were having their very eyes upon but it wouldn't hurt to try to interact with her own house members for now.

"We're fine!" she stammered, she caught some smoke and coughed due to sudden shift of air quality.

Angel went beside the other snake and committed to making the first speech for introduction or rather offering a question.

"Hey, you wonder if Norwood did it?" she whispered covering one side of her cheek

"I guess our house never fails to be notorious after all hm? Ms...?" she trailed off she had forgotten that she had never known her name.

He didn't really expect his spell to succeed, because he hadn't really cast magic seriously for a year, but he was infinitely glad that the spell did not backfire and make him cheer for the property damage instead. That would've been awkward.

He watched as other underclassmen approached the fallen suit of armor in succession and blame Norwood. There was a Ravenclaw with blue glasses who he didn't recognize, so she must've been a first or second year. Then, there was another young Ravenclaw with freckles who narrowed her eyes at Norwood and gripped her wand, not before calling out yet a third Ravenclaw girl who was... crouching under a suit of armor? Avery blinked at her. "Is it... nice down there?" What are you doing in there?" he asked @Xio Arcana, because he was curious. Sitting amongst the dust bunnies against a bunch of metal was not his choice hiding spot to pass the time between classes, but maybe it was better than he thought? The Rehearsal Room was getting pretty crowded these days...

Sentiment around the jury corridor was that Silas Norwood had planted a bomb inside the suit of armor, just as the Gryffindor boy phrased very succinctly. Even Gilmour the Broom Racing Captain was there to witness the incident. Even prior to Avery's spell hitting, the jury was already out. Maybe Norwood really did plant a bomb like everyone believed. Avery wasn't sure before, and just wanted a little fun to confirm what might've already been true, but seems like everyone else already believed it.

So, when his spell finally hit, he didn't feel guilty at all. He was just... helping the situation along to reveal itself. And if it ended with Norwood in detention and absent for quidditch practice, all the better.

"Wow, Silas Norwood, are you threatening to set fire on other students in the hallways? I think that is absolutely malicious and against the rules," he said, injected some disbelief and shock into his voice, as if setting fire to other people was a Very Bad Thing.

As Norwood kept denying his guilt, another series of explosions went off, this time smaller. However, Avery managed to quickly dodge out of the way, thanks to his many years of quidditch training, he supposed. As Norwood swore, Avery barely managed to suppress a grin. Not as nimble as some other people who were supposed to be on the team, was he?

"We're okay, I think," he said in response to Gilmour's concerned question. "That exploding bon bon nearly hit me in the face. If it had been another unfortunate student, it might've blown out an eye! I think he just really likes violence. Maybe someone should notify a prefect," he suggested with a shrug but stayed, not in any hurry to bring an immediate end to this situation just yet.

Avery sighed in disappointment as the young Slytherin girl likely called his spell 'primitive' and attempted to cast Finite Incantatem on Norwood...which he hoped would fail. Oh? Did she think she was somebody, swooping in to solve everyone's problems? Some underclassmen really haven't been at Hogwarts long enough to fully enjoy the opportunities that were in front of them. Since there was nothing for him to respond to, and she wasn't talking to him, there was no need for him to engage her, in case she ratted on him for casting the spell in the first place.

"Now how many galleons do you think this suit of armor cost?" he asked the group. "Norwood, are you made of money? I'm not sure detention is enough for this type of property damage. Maybe you'll have to sell your broom."

When Silas opened his mouth and spoke to her, Fawkes visibly flinched. The thought of being caught on fire again was honestly terrifying. She had spent quite a bit of time in the hospital wing for the wounds she sustained after their duel and quite frankly, she didn't want to re-live such a moment again. It had given her nightmares for a week or so after the duel had concluded. Overall, not a fun time.

If she had to be honest with herself, she was angry. Angry mainly at his attitude during the duel and even angrier at his attitude now. Honestly what did he think would happen? He was found at the scene of a 'crime'. It wasn't as if he had a reputation of being a stellar person, of course people were going to assume he was behind the crime.

In the back of her mind, she had heard what the older boy had said. Setting fire to people in the corridors wasn't the smartest idea. But quite frankly she was too blinded by anger to pay attention to what was being said by the people around her. Pulling out her wand from her robe pocket, she gripped the alder wood tightly. Last year Norwood had to deal with her old and probably faulty wand. But now? Now she had upgraded. She pointed the wand at him and said softly Incendio Duo
