And So We Meet Again PV Margaret Burkhart

Miranda was pretty sure she was lost.

Every corridor in the school seemed to look the same, except for the one with the giant set of troll armor that had given her the creeps when she'd first spotted it. She had no idea why anyone would want that as a decoration.

Well, there's that picture of the abbey, she realized, spotting the painting in mention. But does that mean I'm near the Transfiguration class or near the Defense Against the Dark Arts one? She wrinkled her nose in thought. Or am I on the wrong floor?

Sighing, she took a couple more steps and peered through an open door, into an empty classroom. This was so frustrating!

At least all of my classes are done for today, Miranda thought with relief. So I won't be late for anything. But at the rate I'm going, I'm still going to be wandering around when curfew hits.

She sighed again, but this time it was with irritation. I can't believe this. How am I lost already? I should've followed someone back instead of going looking for the owlery. Which, to make matters worse, I didn't even find.

A loud clang echoed against the stone walls of the hallway as she kicked the nearest suit of armor, something quite unusual, since she wasn't exactly prone to fits of anger. Although, she normally didn't get herself lost much either. Luckily, the suit stayed in once piece.

Footsteps from farther down the corridor made her whirl around, only to see a students walking toward her with a very familiar face.

"Margaret?" Miranda called.

"Miranda?" Margaret said in a shocked voice, looking up. She walked toward Miranda. "How are you doing."

She looked around they were in a pretty deserted part of the school. Margaret usually took the abandon halls, staircases, and corridors she usually liked to walk alone and avoid the crowds of people in the other hallways. Strange that I've never seen her come this way before, I thought I knew everyone who takes this corridor except...unless people get lost. She laughed a little, Miranda was already in her second year and still getting lost, she understood though it was sometimes pretty hard for her to find her way too. "Are you lost?" she asked with a smile. She could see a bit of anger n Miranda and assumed if she was she had probably been wandering around the halls for at least half an hour.

She liked this hallway it was dark, but not in a very creepy hard to see, irritating way but in a nightfall, calm way, at least it seemed like that to her. There were a few paintings lining the walls, only 3 really. One of a girl in a blue dress and a knight in decorative, silver armor. The other was of a farm girl peering out her window and the last was of a small dirty blond-haired boy, running in a field, but currently he was sleeping in the grass. There were also a couple of torches in the hallway but that was pretty much it.

“I’m good,” Miranda replied, although her slight grimace undercut the assurance. "Just, um..."

"Are you lost?" Margaret asked, her eyes sparkling in amusement.

Miranda's face burned in embarrassment. "Yeah. I know, you'll probably tell me I ought to have the school memorized by now, but I honestly just can't keep all the hallways straight. Every one looks the same!"

"I wish there was some kind of map you could get, but Hogwarts has so many rooms and corridors and all that, so it'd probably be some kind of impossible task to get it down on paper." She grinned, her face returning to a slightly more normal peach color. She obviously didn't know of the existence of the Marauders Map.

"So what are you doing here anyways?" Miranda asked, trying to direct the conversation in another direction. "You're not lost, too, are you? Because otherwise I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get back to-" she waved her hands at the ceiling. "-civilization."

I should've headed straight back to the tower, Miranda thought grumpily. Now I'm making a fool of myself. Although, it was kind of nice to meet up with Margaret again. I haven't seen her much since the train ride.

"I don't think it's necessary to have all the corridors memorized, I understand. I guess it kind of helps to know that if I don't memorize the corridors by second year won't be the only one." Margaret smiled.

"I don't know of any map either, it'd probably be impossible to map this whole place out entirely but I do know where this corridor goes," Margaret said reassuringly, she didn't know of the marauder's map either (as there was only one -I think it's inaccurate that they have both the marauder's map and invisibility cloak at Wasley's Wizard Weesys since there is only one of them but whatever)

Margaret laughed as Miranda said "civilization" she had forgotten how funny Miranda was. "It's not getting too late, I'm in no rush but if you have somewhere to be I can certainly show you the way out of the corridor. Where are you hoping to go? I use this corridor a lot it goes to nearly every place in the castle except maybe one of the floors, one of the students told me about a hidden floor between the third and second floors, it doesn't go there." She doesn't care, shut up. Margaret thought knowing she was just babbling on. Then she realized Miranda had a letter "were you trying to find the owlery?" She asked.

"I don't think it's necessary to have all the corridors memorized, I understand. I guess it kind of helps to know that if I don't memorize the corridors by second year won't be the only one." Margaret smiled, which helped Miranda feel less foolish. The other girl then continued to agree that a map would be quite difficult to create, even if one would be incredibly useful.

"A hidden floor?" Miranda echoed, tucking that information away for later. It would be an interesting place to explore. "No, I didn't even know one existed. I was actually hoping to go to the-"

"Were you trying to find the owlery?" Margaret asked, cutting Miranda off, not that she minded.

"Oh, yeah, I was," she replied, startled. "Do you, um, know where it is?"

"Yeah, fallow me," Margaret said walking through a long corridor then up a few stairs and along other corridors and so on. "You've never heard of the Hidden Corridor?" She asked as she lead Mirada to the owlery "I suppose that makes sense, it is hidden after all. One of the boys in third year told me about it, said it was only made for staff and he only knows because the Hufflepuff prefect told him about it. It's not a forbidden floor really, just a floor that the staff uses." Margaret explained.
They were getting pretty close to the west tower. "If it helps the owlery is just past the Raven claw common room, just go out of the first corridor then left and up the stairs and there will be an arch that goes into the owlery." She hoped that would help her find it next time. They were coming up to the Raven claw common room and into one of the common corridors and out of the more private one.
She stepped into the corridor and looked at the many paintings along the hallway. There were a few torches in between the paintings and the carpet was laid out across the light brown wood floor. the carpet was a bronze-like color. Soon they passed the grey Ravenclaw door.

Miranda nodded quickly and hurried after Margaret, glad to finally have someone to show her the way. It could get very boring wandering around in circles, starring at the same walls over and over without cease.

She listened as Margaret explained what the hidden floor was, and how she’d found out about it. “So there’s some kind of staff floor out there?” Miranda finally asked. “And basically no one knows about it? That’s pretty cool, actually.” Already, a plan for finding way onto it was formulating, not that it would be likely she’d ever succeed.

Soon they arrived in a more familiar corridor, which Miranda recognized as being near the Ravenclaw area just as Margaret explained that it was, and that the owlery was just nearby.

“You’d think I would have noticed that before,” Miranda said, shaking her head in disbelief. “I’m just not used to going up into the towers unless I’m headed to Astronomy or our dorm.”

Just as she said that, the duo passed the familiar grey door that opened onto the Ravenclaw common room. “There we are,” she murmured in semi-amusement. Miranda pointed at the corridor Margaret has mentioned earlier. “So is that the way to the owlery, then?” she asked.

"Yeah, up those steps and the archway on your left" Margaret said. "I think I might have a letter as well. I'll join you up there in a moment when I find them."

Margaret said the password to the common room and went in, trusting Miranda could find the owlery. She went into the dormitory and found her letters, on top of the bedside dresser, and walked through the beautifully light corridors to the owlery. It was pretty cold outside, but she didn't mind she liked the cold and was used to it being the delivery girl for the family business.

She joined Miranda who appeared to have just sent out her owl. She tied her letter to the owl's leg and whispered the address to it before lifting up the brown barn owl and pushing it off so it could fly.

"We have a lot of time left in our day," she said turning to Miranda "do you want to try and find the hidden floor. I don't think they're hiding anything nor do I think we'll find it but we can try; we have time to spare, well I do, you might actually have somewhere to go if you do that's fine, I won't hold you up."

Miranda followed Margaret's instructions and soon found herself in the owlery, trying not to feel creeped out by the shiny black eyes and rustling feather that surrounded her on every side. She quickly located one of the school owls and tied the letter she'd written for her family onto its leg, then whispered her home address to it.

She also told it to head straight to their house, even if it probably didn't understand her, because once they'd had an unfortunate owl stray too close to an enclosure full of doxies, and they'd eaten the poor creature, only for Miranda's parents to find its bones a day later. If she could, she'd rather not repeat that incident.

It didn't take long for Margaret to return, with a letter of her own, and then send it off. Miranda watched the two owls fly off, then turned to listen to her friend as she spoke.

We have a lot of time left in our day," she said as she turned to look at Miranda "do you want to try and find the hidden floor? I don't think they're hiding anything nor do I think we'll find it but we can try; we have time to spare, well I do, you might actually have somewhere to go if you do that's fine, I won't hold you up."

"No, I don't have anything to do," Miranda replied with a grin. "Let's go storm the teacher's floor!" She raised an imaginary weapon over her head, then lowered her arm with a laugh. "Sorry 'bout that."

Margaret grinned and laughed. She thought Miranda was extremely funny and started to wish she had a sense of humor like Miranda's; Margaret never thought she was very funny but she liked Miranda's humor.

"I have no idea where it might be I just know it's between the second and third floor, so I guess that's where we should look." Margaret laughed at herself. She waited for Miranda and walked down to the mostly unused corridor and followed the steps down to the third floor.

"So where do you want to go first? Anywhere's a good place to start since I don't have any clue where it might be. We're just doing this for fun so I guess it doesn't really matter if we find it or not." Margaret smiled. Just then one of the staff walked past. "Do you want to follow him?" Margaret whispered "if he doesn't lead us to it maybe he came from there and we can follow our steps back to see if we can find a locked door. Sorry, I don't know if that makes sense, what I just said, sometimes I layout plans that make no sense, anyway I can explain plan B later if we need it." The staff member had now gone around the corner "okay, let's go" She said smiling and motioning forward.

She went to the corner and waited for him to go around the next corner and went to the next corner, quietly but quickly and watched him go around the next corner, being sure not to peek her head around too much so he wouldn't turn around and see them.
