Potions &partner problems
The Second year Slytherin's and Ravenclaw's were eagerly muttering to each other when the potions professor told them they will be learning about the basics of brewing love potions in their first lesson of the year. As the professor started to lecture to his class about the dangers of love potions he noticed that many of his students were more keen on learning what was in the cauldron, so he placed one hand on the lid that was covering the potion and explained that it was; Amortentia the most powerful love potion in the world the won't create actual love just a sort of replicate it.
Henry, a second year slytherin was seated at a desk in the back of the room next to his friend; Miranda a second year ravenclaw. Henry never really saw the good of love potions, especially since they don't create really love just a intimation of it while he was writing in his notebook he noticed that he started to lose interest in what the professor was saying, which has never happen before and started to doodle on his notebook the face of a wolf. Henry looked around to see if any one noticed but they were all pretty focused on the professor, he grazed at Miranda to see if she noticed he was drawing a wolf on his notebook and luckily she didn't noticed. Henry quickly turned the page and started to take notes on what the professor was saying in his lecture.
The professor ended his lecture with instructions to his students to partner up with their desks mates and brew a slightly less powerful love potion than amortentia. He also added to encourage his students to try their best that the partners who brew the best love potions would receive a tiny viral of felix felicis or liquid luck each. Which seemed to motivate everyone, for as soon as the professor told them to begin almost everyone starting collecting indigents or brewing their potions with their partners.
Henry was glad that Miranda was his partner not only because she was his friend but also because they both were around the same level of intelligence, to make thinking and discussing their potion a lot easier to brew together instead of Henry having to do all the work with someone who was clueless. Henry looked up at Miranda and smiled as they begun to set their cauldron and ingredients up to begin brewing.
As Henry watched Miranda heat and set up the cauldron while he read from their text book the proper ingredients they will need, he couldn't help himself but to get lost in thought a little. Miranda is definitely intelligent and knows what to do and how to do it perfectly, I missed hanging out with her in the courtyard discussing books, magical creatures, and how to sneak into the forbidden forest with her. While it was nice to be home with Arthur, Annabeth, Father, and of course Cricket it still didn't feel the same without her. Even after we sent each other owls throughout the summer holiday, I still missed seeing her smile and her light blue eyes that reminded you of a clear stream. As well as her laugh and just her presence mainly, bloody hell she really is beautiful did I ever notice that before?
Henry got snapped back into reality when he felt the heat from their cauldron, as he quickly scanned the last few ingredients of the book he closed it quickly as he said " were just missing one or two ingredients. I'll get them from the storeroom." Henry walked over toward the storeroom while trying to focus his mind.
While he searched the shelves for the two ingredients they were missing he found himself thinking of Miranda again. Did she noticed me staring, I hope not. I hope I didn't look to lost in thought or blushing, bloody hell what is wrong with you. Miranda is your friend and you never had a problem talking to her before, nor have you ever felt awkward around her so then what's wrong with you. Welk she is beautiful and intelligent, ugh stop and try to focus. Wait a minute you don't like her do you? Do I have a crush on Miranda?

Amortentia. Well, that was an interesting choice of potion. If she had to guess, everyone would have to watch what they ate or drank very carefully when Valentines Day came around. Luckily, it was a while before that would come around. She couldn't help but smile slightly at the thought, although she herself didn't really see the appeal. Why bother with fake love, when the real kind was so much better?
She forcefully ended her train of thought and returned to noting down the ingredients and other interesting bits of information needed in brewing the potion. A glance over at her partner and friend, Henry, showed her that he was doing the same thing, but she wrote everything down just in case she needed to access it later.
Finally they were allowed to begin the brewing, and Miranda began setting up the cauldron they'd be using. Henry started reading the ingredients and instructions, while she rummaged furiously through the items they had with them. Trying to get everything. Even thought she thought the potion was useless, it was also ridiculously complicated and easy to mess up.
"We're just missing one or two ingredients. I'll get them from the storeroom," Henry announced, and quickly stood up. Miranda looked up and smiled.
"Okay," she replied, nodding.
Honestly, it was a relief to be working with a friend. She remembered the first time they'd met, back in their first year, when Miranda had found him reading a book on charms up a tree. She'd liked him from the start, it seemed.

Henry hurried back to Miranda with the two ingredients they were missing and placed them on their desk. Henry couldn't help but smiled at her, it was comforting to be working with a friend especially a friend who Henry didn't get awkward around or act weird around.
Henry looked around to see that almost everyone else were already adding ingredients so Henry cleared his throat as he reopened his text book and started to double check their ingredients to be sure that they had everything they would need. "It looks like they have all the ingredients, so uh I guess we start brewing" Henry as spoken while looking a little flustered. He placed his book in between Miranda and himself so they both could see the steps, Henry then grazed around and wonder who will get the liquid luck at the end if class.
I wonder if we'll get it, I could certainly use it and were both intelligent enough to brew the love potion correctly. Not to mention Miranda seems graceful while she pours a ingredient, ugh stop it Henry your suppose to be concentrating how else are you suppose to brew a potion and hopefully be in the running for the liquid luck. Ok what is the last ingredient were suppose to add, bloody hell Miranda seems extremely beautiful today. Ugh why can't I just focus, do I really have a crush on her but I can't. Well I definitely can't tell her because how will that even effect out friendship.
Henry cheeks started to turn red and he quickly looked away before leaning close to the desk as he read off the book. Henry still with his nose to the book spoke" right so what exactly is are next step to brewing this potion."

"It looks like they have all the ingredients, so uh I guess we start brewing," Henry told her, and placed his book between them so they could see the steps. Here's a link to some actual instructions I found online:
Miranda twisted slightly so she could read it properly, her eyes flicking from the book, then to the items on the table and back again as she checked the ingredients they'd gathered. "Yep," she replied after a long moment, looking up to see Henry watching her with a faint red sheen on his cheeks. He quickly looked down again at the book.
"Right so what exactly is our next step to brewing this potion?" he asked, not looking up.
"We need to put in one Ashwinder egg, then a handful of rose thorns," she announced, separating the listed ingredients from the others they'd gathered. "It honestly doesn't look too hard, which is weird. I thought I read somewhere it was really complicated. No, wait, it says this one only lasts for 24 hours. Maybe there are more complicated ones that last longer, or something." Miranda shrugged and glanced over at Henry. "Well, we'd better get started or we're going to get left behind." She gestured at the pair next to them, who were already putting ingredients in. However, instead of turning the right color, their potion turned a bruised-looking navy and indigo shade. "Of course, we'll have to be careful and fast."

They both seem to glance over at the table next to them to see their potion turn the wrong color which Henry heard Miranda say "Of course, we'll have to be careful and fast." Henry smiled and nodded I'm agreement as they begun to work.
Henry just finished adding moonstone when he looked the textbook over to see that they were already half way done, Henry smiled to himself when he saw that their potion was the right color and seemed good so far. He thought they had a good chance of winning the liquid luck, as he tried not to look around at the others he stared at Miranda as he spoke" our potion seems good for now, I think we have a good chance of getting that liquid luck. If we do end up getting it, what do you think you'll use it for?" Henry smiled at her then felt his cheeks and neck become warm and he immediately looked down upon the textbook.

"Our potion seems good for now, I think we have a good chance of getting that liquid luck. If we do end up getting it, what do you think you'll use it for?" Henry smiled at her, then blushed and looked down.
I wonder what that was about, she thought, turning to look at the textbook as well. I'll figure that out later. Right now we have something to do. Like she always did when she was focusing, Miranda had problems with keeping other matters in mind. Her sole focus was her task.
"Well, I don't really know. We'll have to figure that out together." She shot him a sideways grin, then dropped her gaze back to the book.
Reaching into the mess of ingredients scattered across the table, she fished out a wooden spoon used for stirring mixtures, and stuck it inside their cauldron. Miranda started to stir in clockwise spirals, until faint traces of steam began to rise from it, growing steadily thicker as time passed. Suddenly a strong aroma wafted out, and Miranda quickly jerked the spoon out. To her, the potion smelled like old paper, melting chocolate (yum), and fresh, if not slightly damp, air.
Interesting, she thought, tucking that fact away for later. I wonder what it smells like to Henry, since it supposedly smells different depending on the person.

"Well, I don't really know. We'll have to figure that out together." Miranda replied to him then have him a sideways grin which made Henry grin back at her and go red in the cheeks a bit. Henry ran a hand through his head while trying to snap out of what ever was happening to him, he saw from his side that Miranda was stirring their potion then seemed to sniff it.
Henry leaned over to take a look at the potion to be sure that it was the right color when he smelled, a wooden forestry, new book pages, and a blackberry like smell. Henry jerked his head back remembering that the professor of warned them about how dangerous the smell is, Henry side glanced at Miranda to see that she seemed to be thinking also.
Henry smiled and half hugged in shoulder's with one arm as he spoke" our potion is finished and seems perfect, right? I think we have a good chance of getting that viral." Henry squeezed her shoulder's a bit longer before letting go while going red in the face, he quickly put his head down as he started to gather up any spare or leftover ingredients.

"Our potion is finished and seems perfect, right? I think we have a good chance of getting that vial," Henry said, and then reached over to squeeze Miranda's shoulder. He quickly ducked his head, and so did she, her cheeks quickly turning bright red.
That wasn't what I thought it was, right? she wondered, tilting her head in the familiar and odd way of hers. I'll have to think about it...later. A lot.
Quickly, she regathered her scattered thoughts and refocused on the task at hand. "I think so," Miranda replied, her voice a mixture of confidence and awkwardness at the same time.
The teacher was slowly making rounds, peering over the students' shoulders at their cauldrons. Most were light purple, a few were pink, and some were even light blue or brown colors, which Miranda figured must mean those groups had gotten it wrong, judging from the sheepish expressions on their faces.
"Should we hail the professor?" she asked quietly, wondering whether he would come to them on his own or not. "Or should we just wait..."
Miranda shot another sideways look at Henry, trying to assess what his answer would be. She really didn't want to mess this up.

"I think so," Miranda replied while Henry was finishing up gathering the rest of their ingredients up, after be wrinkled his nose while running a hand through his hair. When he looked up he heard Cricket say"Should we hail the professor or should we just wait..." Henry looked around the class to see that the professor was going around to each desk and looking over student's shoulder's while saying nothing most times while at other times frowning a bit or scoffing at a few students.
Henry gulped a little and took a quick breath while he is a bit more calmer and not as nervous or worried as when he was a first year at Hogwarts. He still occasionally had panic attacks and sometimes still got a bit nervous and worried so he took other breath and grazed toward Miranda as he nodded.
"Yeah we should call the professor over here, isn't better to get it over quickly then wait anxiously about it." Henry spoke while chuckling a little toward Miranda. Henry quickly looked away while his face begun to feel hot, I'm such a idiot why would I bloody say that, Henry bit his lip while he glanced over at the professor just a few tables away from them.
"Do you want to call him over or should I?" Henry asked while his face still felt hot as he continued to look over at the professor.

"Yeah we should call the professor over here, isn't better to get it over quickly then wait anxiously about it," Henry decided, and then looked away. Miranda nodded, and looked over to find out where he'd gone since she'd last looked. It took her a moment to realize he'd moved to the other side of the room when she hadn't been paying attention.
"Do you want to call him over or should I?" Henry asked, his gaze on the teacher. Miranda wondered why he kept on looking away, but didn't ask. If he didn't tell her, she didn't need to know. That was how things worked with her. Well, most of the time. Okay, some of the time. Actually... no, never mind.
"I'll do it," Miranda replied, and raised her hand to get the man's attention. "Uh, professor?" she called, a bit of nervousness breaking through into her voice. She really hoped they'd done well. "We're finished."
The teacher bustled over to their stand, and Miranda held her breath anxiously, waiting for his judgement.
Please, please, please let us have gotten in right. Although, we did everything properly... ooo, maybe we could've experimented a bit to see if we could've improved it! No, wait, that wasn't part of the lesson. We're supposed to follow the recipe. Miranda struggled to keep her curiosity under control, but couldn't help a small sideways glance at the cauldron, her lips twitching upward.
