─────Camping was something that Lucian did a lot with his father. He was used to the wilderness and knew how to set up a tent. His father would take the young muggle to camping often. But this time it was different. They had to use a floo system to get to Ugandou's wilderness which scared the young Lucian a little. But he still managed to come there in time to listen to what was being instructed by the Headmaster of the school where this was happening.
Lucian took mental notes of the different types of tents and their equipments. He was eager to see what the headmaster had in store for them. It was something that he had missed since coming to Hogwarts. He wanted to learn more about different kinds of tents and their purposes. He was intrigued to see the crowd there. He was happy that he was one of them.
He didn't like to be left alone. He hated that feeling. With him being there with others made him feel like a part of a group. He was very much eager to see what happened next. He had a feeling this was not limited to what the Headmaster was saying.

| xxxxx | To be very frank on the matter, Kahira Valerian was only here because she was trying to escape from Hogwarts. After having been Sorted into very much the wrong House, the castle that was supposed to be her home and her liberation from a family that didn't treat her in the special manner she deserved had become more like a prison. The Hufflepuff common room was suffocating, with all its smiles and hugs and plants, and so even though coming to Uagadou for this strange out-of-school experience meant sleeping in a bedamned tent, Kahira was almost glad for the respite. Almost. She mostly hung towards the back, giving disgusted looks to the fellow students her age who seemed more than happy to get their hands dirty in this very Muggle-esque manner. In groups, they chattered away, raising poles and hoisting... whatevers. Meanwhile, Kahira sat with her own small tent supplies in the back, very much unwilling to take part in any of it until she came to the realisation that if she didn't at least try to set something up, she wouldn't exactly have anywhere to sleep these next few days. Why did I come to this ridiculous school anyway? With a groan, she stood and begrudgingly stuck some poles into the ground, balancing the top one while she stretched onto the tips of her booted toes to reach. All the while, she glanced around with narrowed dark eyes, trying to make sure that no one worth her salt was going to be looking her way, seeing the pureblood sparess doing Muggle things. |

Chuki wasn't unfamiliar with home building. Back at her tribe, she'd watch the women make mud brick homes when newcomers arrived at the village. No magic needed, nor allowed. It was the Chiefess' belief to keep such a power at bay only when needed. Chuki was, in a way, glad to see that sort of lifestyle was still justified in other tribes. If magic disappeared one day, those who relied only on it would suffer the consequences.
With that in note, Chuki was relentless in setting up the frame for the Tebo tent, raising up the tarselts in position before hurrying to place up the akhammar on top as instructed. Despite her eagerness to rush, Chuki felt at ease. She was building something that represented her in a way. She still didn't feel tired after carrying such heavy panels on her own so far. But as soon as she began to drape the tent panels over the roof of the frames, she began to feel a sort of exhaustion. Well, she was supposed to do this with a team after all. And speaking of team...
"Someone stabilize the tent! Keep pegs down or tent fall!" She spoke in her slightly broken English. "Tent fall, we all fall! Perish from weather!" Chuki decided that was better enough as a warning. With that, Chuki went on to build the frame for the Wind tent. She could only hope her listening skills were good enough from there, along with her own teammates'.@Glen Boren @Alemayehu Ngeni Bekele @Eugenia Smyrnidi

WC: 278The air was warm and wet, carrying with it unfamiliar scents as Cas stepped onto the ground of a different continent. Stereotypes would suggest he, as a wealthy young man with well-travelled parents, would know each continent through leisure visits, but Africa wasn't a place he'd ever set foot. His breaths felt cloying in a way similar to the moments just before rain in Bath, but the heat accompanying them made his lungs feel sticky, his throat bobbing as he swallowed to try to clear the feeling.
He wasn't someone used to physical labour--particularly in hard-to-breathe situations--but he'd signed up for this to have experience across the world so he refused to complain. Instead he listened thoughtfully to the Durmstrang headmaster, studying the supplies. His group seemed content to follow the lead of whoever began, so he quietly grabbed the end of one support pole, dragging it with harsh little grunts to the closest open area near his soon-to-be tentmates.
"Here," he rasped, struggling to set the support pole into the soft ground. He wasn't getting too far, so once it was able to stand up on its own he knelt down to start digging around it to make a small hole for the thing to sit in. "We'll need to do this with the other one and then connect the beam at the top so it stays standing." It was more of a statement than instruction; whether his group moved to help or not, he would continue setting it up. As much as he wasn't someone who enjoyed hands-on work, they all needed somewhere to sleep and he wouldn't stop working until it was done.

Camping.
It's been a long time since Marigold had ever experienced doing camping... being one with the nature and appreciating the breeze of the night full of stars before sleeping in the makeshift tents with her parents. It was such an experience she wanted to repeat once more. But not in a way that would mean she's gonna camp without any parental supervision. Much more is that it'll happen in an international area. So it's not weird for her to be fidgety and nervous as she walked alongside with newfound people she was grouped with in camp.
She tried her best not to look that much nervous at the thought of travelling somewhere beyond Britain without her parents. Well, that's not just the part of her current worries. Had she packed enough clothes for this trip? What if she forgot something essential? Or what if she got lost or wander accidentally into somewhere she's not supposed to be when she's in there?
But the questions were beaten to the back of her head as she stared at a strange object on the ground where her and her groupmates crowd at. Why are we standing around this... object?
Her head turned to where the older student was, listening to the words uttered. She hadn't gotten their names earlier so now, she just blankly listen to the strangers words about holding onto their bags tightly. As much as she'd like to question those instruction, she'd believe that as the eldest among them all, the person clad in silver gilded black t-shirt and blue shades covering his eyes would know the specificities of what's about to happen with this thing. Also, the sight of that cane made her a bit more nervous. Is he gonna hit us with that if we don't listen?
She followed after their examples, touching the object on the ground. But she wasn't prepared the moment her world spun round like she was being chucked into some kind of vacuum. It seems that being a muggle-born has its disadvantages... especially when nobody thought to explain her what just happened. Portkey... apparently, it isn't much friendly to her stomach. The moment her feet suddenly hit the solid ground, she stumbled, her hand immediately reaching to the first one she could grasp to not fall so embarrassingly. I don't want to travel in this way again.
She had to blink multiple times and hold onto them for a moment before the dizziness faded. She gave them an apologetic smile before awkwardly letting go. But the embarrassment didn't last long the moment her eyes witnessed the scenery. Her mouth fell slightly open as awe settled in her relaxing body. Uagadou. Another school... international school of magic like Hogwarts. It was such an unfamiliar landscape yet somehow, it was just as enchanting as her school. The air felt warm and full... and there were unfamiliar sounds everywhere too. It was like she was walking in an island full of flora and animals she's yet to discover.
It was so beautiful she was rendered speechless for a moment. She was even too taken by the entire place, the instructions barely registered her attention. She only snapped out of it when their eldest turned and spoke to them. "I... I can help..." she replied to him before her eyebrows knitted. "And... uh... what are we supposed to do again?"

Honestly, Denisse was looking forward to the trip until the minute she heard those words, "no magic allowed". That just felt mean.
However, the trip itself had been more amusing than terrifying. Her portkey ride had elicited its standard responses – from people who appeared utterly at ease, to those who looked just about ready to drop to their knees and curse every life decision they'd ever made. Denisse herself maintained as much dignity as she could muster, although it was her first time ever using one.
As soon as they set foot in Uagadou, her attention was immediately stolen by something (or someone) far more fascinating.
A much older Gryffindor with white hair. More specifically, whatever the hell he was wearing out of Merlin's name.
A second was spent staring at him and then snort came out of her mouth. The silver-gilt black coat. The embroidered spiral trousers. The eyewear. The cane. It was as if someone had taken all the elements of a rock star, a fortune-teller and some rich vampire and thought it was a good camping outfit.
She bit her lip.
Failed.
A laugh slipped out.
Then another.
As the boy began talking about grabbing bags, Denisse was already struggling to hold in her tears.
"Sorry," she said, not sorry at all. "I just..."
A hand was placed over her mouth and a muffled chuckle passed her lips.
"You look like you're about to either headline a concert or charge me twenty galleons to have my future read."
Her grin widened.
"The sunglasses really complete the look."
The teasing never came from malice. That's not her intention. This boy clearly chose to wake up this morning and decided to wear bedazzling elegance. If anything, she found it amusing.
As the loudspeaker repeated the directions about the tents, Denisse had to force herself to focus.
Keyword: forced.
A first-year's confused question drew her attention.
"What are we supposed to do again?"
Denisse nodded immediately.
"Thank Merlin, it wasn't just me."
She gestured vaguely toward the demonstration platform.
"I guess they're teaching us how to pitch a tent…without any magic."
A dramatic pause followed.
"Which sounds suspiciously like manual labor."
The thought alone earned a sigh. Then Azzure asked about assignments. Denisse glanced toward the pile of supplies.
"I can carry stuff," she said. "Might be a couple of even or odd pieces of wood, bits of stems or straight trees or whatever they call those things."
She immediately pointed toward Azzure.
"But if we're just really logging, someone needs to get that guy on the tent poles."
Her lips curled into another mischievous grin.
"Not because he's blind."
A beat.
"Simply because if Mr. Fashion Show trips over a clip rope, I'm definitely going to laugh."
She folded her arms and still grinning looked back at the demonstration.
"Anyhow, I say we pay proper attention first. I'd rather not end up sleeping in a collapsed tent our first night at Uagadou because none of us paid attention."
That was the cleverest thing she'd said all day. A rare occurrence.

Hendrik was excited because he had managed to convince his parents to travel to Uagadou to be part of a camping event. He had never experienced before but knew what camping was. He paid attention to the stranger, listening to everything in every detail to know how to do it. Although he had no experience, his Muggle father had taught him how to set up a tent. Bowing his head, he moved among the crowd while continuing to listen to instructions. Once finished, Hendrik didn’t know very well which group he could join. He was watching, until he approached a group. Discreetly, he gravitated towards the group, and could hear one of them ask if anyone knew how to set up a tent. He raised his hand uncertain, “I know how to do it. My papa taught me. We have to build the base first.” Hendrik explained, the fact that for someone so young, he had paid attention to his father’s advice. Pointing out to the man who had given indications “I noticed in the demonstration that we must use the tarselt as supports on the front and back. The akhammar serves as a connector for both poles.” explained Hendrik, pointing out the items. He walked to pick up one of the tarselt, ignoring that someone else from another group, had come near to pick up one like him.
Without thinking, he wanted to be faster and picked up the piece “Sorry. I was first.” he asserted, and walked back to the group. While holding the piece, he was looking at the group “My apologies! I didn’t introduce myself. My name is Hendrik. Nice to meet everyone.” he disclosed, He was looking around, even wondering how chaotic this whole event could be, although the idea of not being able to sleep under a tent made him feel a bit anxious. He wasn’t sure if being the one who knew how to set up a tent allowed him to guide others. But he thought it was better for the older boy to give directions. All he could hope for was to have fun and have the tent finished. His eyes moved between the group and his backpack. Having made the decision, it was a moment to take out a cereal bar, starting to eat. It was a bit uncomfortable because he knew what he had to do but didn’t want to go like... Try to take over. And he didn’t know any, for which he wanted to make sure that he could make a good impression on the group. It couldn’t have been a good experience if I had seemed to make a bad impression, right? His mind was a bit confused, trying to get an answer while he was trying to finish his piece bar.

Muggle All The Way
Camping.
Aaron never experienced it, but always wanted to. That's why when he heard that the Durmstrang Headmaster and the Uagadou Headmaster had planned and organised a week long "Explore the Wild" event, where events such as camping, climbing, sailing, and more were planned, Aaron signed up as soon as possible.
After taking a portkey, which dropped Aaron somewhere in the forests of Uagadou, Aaron took a minute to himself. It wasn't easy to travel by portkey it seemed. Nonetheless, after fighting the puking feeling for the fifth time, Aaron walked towards the crowd, bag on his shoulders.
While not much was stated as to what to bring, Aaron didn't want to take any risks. So, as a backup, he brought a bag with him which consisted of a torch, dry food which can last for the week, a couple of pairs of clothes, a bottle which was full of water at the moment, and of course his unicorn hair wand. Muggles could live without magic and technology, Aaron needed at least one.
When he approached the crowd, he could see the Headmaster of Durmstrang (Emery Albrecht), was introducing them about the event and was demonstrating how to set up the tents.
He first started with the Berber tent, which they were going to use during their time in Uagadou. It consisted of wooden poles, long wooden stakes with heavy ropes for anchors, a black cover which allows air to circulate when hot, but when wet it becomes waterproof and thick carpet for floors.
They were then tasked to make the tent in groups to develop practice. It came out that it took more time than Aaron was hoping to take. After finally making the tent to their satisfaction, they were told to tear it down quickly and pack it up. This was followed by the demonstration of the second tent.
This tent was a bit different as it had a sheep wool for covering, a conical roof, a central pole and a frame which formed the tent. This was also an interesting build and took time to understand even after building the first one.
Thus, Aaron and his group began to make the other tent.

Word count: 290Alfie smiled with smug relief when he heard that the first activity was setting up tents without magic. The last six weeks of adjusting to the magical world had been difficult for him and he was pleased that there was finally an activity in which his previous muggle experience would pay off. Not that Alfie had a lot of experience camping. His mother had never had much time for family outings and his grandparents weren’t exactly the outdoorsy type. However, he had managed to have a few camping experiences with school groups over the years, and from what he could remember, setting up tents was quick and fairly straight forward. Alfie expected he would look like an expert compared to wizard-raised kids who sometimes struggled to comprehend the most basic of muggle things. He didn’t plan to draw attention to the fact he was raised by muggles. He just wanted to appear naturally good at something.
It didn’t take long for him to realize his mistake.
There was no colorful pile of easy to set up nylon pop-up tents, nor even the bigger and slightly more complicated nylon cabin tents. This was honest to goodness tree-like wooden poles, weird hairy ropes, long spikes that required muscle to hammer into the hard ground, and heavy wool panels. The pile of materials for the second type of tent was even higher.
Alfie wondered how they would even carry the materials to their designated camp ground, let alone how his group of misfits would manage to erect a liveable space together. He’d better pay attention and get lots of help from the experts while he still could. He anticipated that his group was going to be screwed when forced to set-up on their own.

Muggle All The Way

21st August
On the night of 20th, it was a 4.
With his previous condition, camping meant accepting the fact that no one else there could do camp like activities without feeling the awkwardness of needing to just leave Demo behind in most activities. Now that it wasn't the case, Demo was evidently extra zoomy - today. His steps speed up, his eyes darted around like a child at an amusement park - even if there were nothing new to really observe. Maybe also - he had eaten some sugared candy on the way here. Still! It was a wonderful day for Demo, and even if it hadn't sunk in yet how excited he was - it was fairly easy to tell by others that he was flip flopping between genuine excitement and a sugar rush.
It got even better at the tent demonstration! Building things with his hands created some sort of deep satisfaction in Demo that hadn't disappeared with the healing of his legs. He was practically shaking, excited about whats to come.
Also to just calm himself down while the demonstration felt more like a youtube video played on 1.25 speed. Once that was FINALLY over, he rushed. Everything else was a blur of motion around him. It was just him, the tent equipment, and his plan replaying the demonstration with familiar ease.
The only slowness he experienced in this grounding activity was the breaths he had to take in between. His jacket was long discarded on the ground, sleeves rolled up, and stance holding up steadiness only while assembling the frames, draping and securing the panels, and using tent pents to stabilise it. There was a familiarity in his movement with the tools in his hand, even if he looked like he was going to pass out in a few minutes ( yippe low stamina ), there was an almost fiery determination and glow of satisfaction with every task done.
" UUUDAAHHH SIAPPP!" He yelled to no one in particular, arms raised, sweat all over and a big grin on his face. [ Udah siap = Finished already ]
Passing instructors would not find the need to remind Demo what to do. Only that he should take a break and drink water.
It was when they had to pull the tent down, was when his mood went form 4 to 4.5 . " YYYYESSSSSS!" Excited despite the exhaustion, he begun tearing down the tent like it was a personal playground. With a speed that seemed more fueled by pure grit (and the power of sugar rush) than actual physical stamina.
