Obscured by dozens of odd notes and reminders, a new poster appears on the bulletin board. Riddled with hasty sketches of fall leaves and eraser marks, a short poem is scrawled across the middle, followed by a single vague date and time. A single note taped to the bottom reads "bring food." Perhaps the lesser-educated wizards may not understand the meaning behind this, but those who have celebrated this single transitional day may quiver with excitement at the prospect of a potential celebration.
On the evening of September 22nd, a few hours after classes, students hustle down the halls and out to the grounds, just where the lumps of fraying grass meet newly rotted stumps. This is where the ceremony begins.
Strung across a large expanse of splintered wooden poles are lines of magical fairy lights, accompanied by dried orange and yellow leaves, swaying in the crisp breeze. Picnic benches are set out in uneven rows, long tablecloths prepared for platters of food. Students may place their dish of choice anywhere they please, and promptly take a plate to begin filling with delicious food.
Various activities are set up around the field, such as corn-hole, miniature summoner's court, and leaf-pressing. As dusk will soon fall over the party, quilts are laid out for future star-watching. But don't get too comfortable yet. The fall rituals have only just begun, and Lottie and Jrue have much more in store for the wandering witches and wizards on this impending Fall night...
This will be a moderated event. If you would like your action to be moderated, please specify in your post.

────────────────────────────────Evangeline was probably the biggest fall lover, to ever exist. She would consider fall to be her second name if that would show how greatly she appreciated the season, and how in love she was with the vibes that this season would bring. So you can imagine her mood and the look on her face once she woke up in her dormitory on a chilly september morning, to see that Hogwarts was already cozy decorated for the fall season. She got up as fast as she could to explore the castle, and appreciate this beautiful fall morning.
After a day filled with classes she was excited to see, once she passed the Hogwarts grounds after coming back from the Greenhouses that students were gathering around for something called a potluck? Evangeline herself had not heard of it before, until she head some students talk about it a few days ago into the Great Hall. Apparently it's known to be a meal arrangement with other people, where everyone brings something to eat, so the meal is big, but variable, and everyone can try something that the other person had brought. Evangeline was most excited to maybe try things that weren't as common in the Wizarding world, brought by people from the Muggle world. Even tho she was pure blooded, she had always had a certain interest for the Muggle kind and their ways. Her father would sometimes go into the muggle world to get some herbs or plants for his work, and occasionally would bring her a book or 2 from the muggle store! She had found them so fascinating that it had become a tradition for them, and so she received a muggle book every few weeks to at to her now growing collection!
Evangeline walked up onto the grounds with a bowl filled with strawberries who were fully emerged in milk chocolate, one of her favourite treats! Evangeline wasn't a great cook, she hadn't learned to cook much in her life. But this was one of the things she did enjoy frequently and was able to make herself. She put the bowl down next to the other treads of her fellow students and looked around for someone she might or might not recognise. After looking around for a while she noticed this girl, that she did believe to have passed a few times during her first year. If she was not mistaken it was the Ravenclaw girl, obsessed with Astrology? Fallon? Fawson? She had no idea what the girls name was, but she decided to just, walk over there and have a chat, hoping to not be standing here all alone for the entire evenings, as if that would not be embarrassing.
"Hey there! I'm Evangeline, but feel free to call me Eva! What dish did you bring?" She asked the girl, looking if she was still holding the food, or might have dropped it over at the spot where all the other's foods were stated. "I see you're a Ravenclaw, thats cool! You must be really smart then! Ive heard you know a lot about Astrology, except classes I have never heard of it before, im not so invested in those things." Eva said to continue, now stealing one of the cookies from the potluck, and devouring it as if she hadn't eaten for days.
"Im more a plant kind of girl, hence why the sorting had put me in Hufflepuff." My father was a Ravenclaw himself! Very smart Apothecary he is, im so proud of him!" Eva said now bursting with excitement over meeting a new possible friend.────────────────────────────────

The Fall Equinox Potluck

Location: School Grounds | Date: 22/09/2026 | Food: Apple Crumble | Mentioning: @Paisley Emmeline Fox | WC: 600/600
Fall, also known as Autumn in other countries, is named after the way trees lose their leaves this time every year. Orange, yellow, brown and red paint the scenery like an oil painting on a canvas. The air turns crisp while the water, also shockingly cold, reflects the blazing colours like an inferno. The sun, newly born, shines rays of light that dance around the dewy grass. It really is a dazzling sight.
I heard it through the grapevine that here, where I stand on the school grounds, two of the prefects have organised a picnic event. There were only two rules; Bring a dish of your choice and have fun. I could not wait, for I loved events and Fall. Only I have not got any food, or an outfit. "Better get cooking," I mutter under my breath, though I did not need to as the grounds were deserted.
The more important question was what I was to make. I wanted to create a traditional dessert that was not too basic. Pumpkin Pie was nice, but for sure it would be brought to the picnic by someone else. Perhaps a nice Cinnamon Scroll? No, one of the girls said she was creating it. What more was there? After a short while, my mind landed on Apple Crumble. Yes! Apples were Fall-themed, and it was yummy. I started baking.
About four burnt pastries, a face full of flour and an egg in my hair later, my masterpiece was finished. Before me lay a crispy base, filled with juicy apple slices and cinnamon. It was topped with the buttery mixture that gives it the name Apple Crumble, and a large pot of custard was prepared next to the meal. What better meal than this? Looking around to make sure no-one was watching, I 'taste tested' the dish. "Whoops, I need to save this for later!" I scolded myself, giggling. But that did not help the fact that it was still delicious. It would be a big hit!
With the cooking out of the way, I could focus on fashion. I opened my wardrobe, chucking clothes at random out. What orange stuff did I have to wear? Maybe I should not wear a dress, as we were going to be outside. I decided to wear a simple white top with my fraying jeans, and my orange hoodie tied around my waist. "Perfect," I said to myself, smiling.
I made my way across the orange scenery to the picnic location. A red and white checked picnic blanket lay spread across the grass. On top, a buffet of meals was placed around a small wickerwork basket. I placed my Apple Crumble on the blanket. Sure enough, only a few treats away was a Pumpkin Pie and some Cinnamon Scrolls. Glad that I did not make them. I lay down in the pile of yellow, brown, red and orange leaves, making an imprint of an angel with my arms and legs.
"No way! Someone made Raspberry Tart!" I exclaimed as I examined the array of eatables. I filled my hands with as many tarts as I could hold. I bit into one. Delicious! All this food looked so good; how on earth was I supposed to decide between them all? Soon, my arms were full of Pumpkin Pasties, more Raspberry Tarts, Orange Slices and Carrot Cake (a Muggle speciality).
When I finally managed to pull myself away from the food, I spotted my friend, Paisley Emmeline Fox. Dodging several other people, I went over for a chat. "What did you bring? I brought Apple Crumble."

I carefully carried the chicken pizza I had made as I walked throug the Hogwarts corridors. I was wearing comfortable bell bottom jeans with a yellow crop top. I thought the yellow looked perfectt for the fall vibe.
I had seen the strange poster on the bulletn board earlier. It was covered with notes some drawings of leaves and a small poem. I did not really understand what most of it meant but one thing was clear.
"Bring food."
So I decided to make a chicken pizza.
I had spent some time making it hoping everyone would like it. Now I just hoped it would surviv the walk to the grounds without me dropping it.
When I finally stepped outside I stopped for a moment.
The grounds looked beautiful.
Fairy lights were hanging between wooden poles glowing softly in the evening. Orange and yellow leaves moved gently in the cold wind. Picnic benches were placed across the grass with long tablecloth covering them.
I walked over to one of the tables and carefully placed my pizza down.
"There" I whispered smiling to myself.
I looked around and noticed all the different activities. There was corn hole, a small Summoner's Court, and even a place where students could press leaves. Quilt were also placed on the grass for later maybe for watching the stars.
I smiled as I looked around.
There were already quite a few students there talking and enjoying the evening. The whole place felt warm and happu even though the air was getting colder.
I decided to have a look at the food everyone had brought.
I wonder what the fall rituals would be like. I did nt really know what to expect but I was excited to find out.
I took a small breath and stepped further into the gathering feeling a little nervous but mostly happy that I had decided to come.
Maybe this would become one of my favourite Hogwarts evening.

Speech/Thoughts/Other Speech
Earlier, I had been learning in my class, waiting for the last lesson of the day to end. The lesson was pretty boring, and now I could not even remember what subject it was nor what it was about. When the illuminating lesson ended, I started getting ready for the Fall Equinox Potluck.
I, being a titchy first year and quite new in Hogwarts, had not heard of this event before, but it seemed like the older students had been in quite a few of these, as they were positively beaming and shining at the mention of it.
Everywhere I walked I heard tell of this fabulous thing called the Fall Equinox Potluck. It was never ending.
As I walked toward my common room I heard some older students again, mostly girls, giggling and asking each other what each one was going to bring. You have to bring food?! As I didn't have enough time to look at the announcement of this event as I was weighed down by homework, and only knew about it by asking questions, I had completely missed the fact the you were supposed to bring food.
I of course was planning on going, but now how could I show up without food? This had to be taken care of. What dish should I bring? What tasty morsel should I make? The possibilities were endless, but each one that turned up in my mind I had surely heard somewhere, most probably because someone else was already bringing it.
Suddenly I knew what I would bring: Yummy apple crisp! Surely no one would bring warm, delicious apple crisp. I started to make it.
First, I washed my hands. Then I took some apples, perhaps 4 of them. Then, I peeled, cored and sliced them and later tossed them with sugar and cinnamon. Afterwards, I sprinkled some oats, flour, butter, and brown sugar and the top of each slice, and then I baked them. They were ready. I looked proudly at the tasty treat and set off to the party.
When I reached the grounds, the place was already super full considering I had come quite early.
I spotted a couple of first years like me, and made up my mind to go talk to them later. In the meantime, I set my dish down on a picnic table, standing weirdly out of line next to countless others and looked around. There were hundreds of dishes probably by this time, and I wanted to taste each one I would have room for.
There were some magical fairy lights strung on some splintered wooden poles which were scattered all around. There were also some activities by the look of it, and I went over to investigate.
A activity that caught my eye was this thing that looked like leaf pressing. I loved leaf pressing.
The colorful leaves stained with the colors of autumn were lying all around the area, waiting for someone to start crafting, and as I had nothing else to do I started pressing them.
The leaves were any shade of red, orange or yellow imaginable. Ranging all the way from a dusty brown to a almost neon yellow, the leaves gently stirred as I waved my hand among them. After I finished I looked some more around.
All around there were quilts layed out, most probably for start watching once it became dark, and it was soon to become dark. I sat down on one of the quilts, and stared at the sky up above me. Quietly I hummed a old tune my mother used to sing to me when I was small, slowly swaying about like an old and unstable tree in the wind. After a few moments of doing this I considered the sight I was and stopped suddenly. I slowly made my way back to the picnic tables, stepping over fallen leaves on the way.
After exploring the party for what it was, I decided to settle down and start tasting all the wonderful dishes I wanted to taste.

Fall was Maya's absolutely favorite season, the spring coming after. Fall felt totally different though, with all its yellow, orange, red colors and alike, with her favorite holiday; Halloween happening during this season. She also recently realized its name "fall" came from the leaves from the trees falling with the weather changes. Maya loved how those leaves looked like, each can be unique with its own orange, red and yellow combination or one of them. She loved the fall atmosphere, the weather becoming colder and people starting to dress more with long sleeves and more in layers, and of course, the new foods and drinks related to fall. Maya had always loved trying on new things and flavors after all.
When Maya saw the new poster on the bulletin board about the fall equinox she definitely wanted to come there. They were also supposed to bring food, which was a great bonus in Maya's humble opinion. The celebration for fall and foods? Sign her in!
She had thought about what food to bring there. She didn't have much experience with cooking or baking. Back at home, it was her parents that did that instead, meanwhile she helped just a few times. Most of the time, she was watching how they were making the food, or not caring at all and just minding her own business.
But now that she had to make her own food she thought about what she could make. At first, she thought about making cinnamon rolls, but she thought it would be harder to make as a newbie, plus she heard about another student bringing it.
In the end she decided on making cinnamon cookies. It was fall themed and seemed easier in Maya's opinion.
In the end of her hands being covered with sugary dough, she managed to make the cookies. She hoped they were good enough, so before she brought all of the cookies to the event outside she tasted on of them, and decided they were very tasty indeed!
Satisfied with the result of her cookie adventure, she then thought about what she would wear for the event. The weather was a bit colder and the event was gonna be outside so she decided on a long sleeved light purple sweater with black lines on it. And she wore comfortable jeans.
Finally, Maya arrived at the event. It wasn't very crowded for now, and the decorations were delightful with dried colorful leaves, magical fairy lights and many picnic benches with long tablecloths on them, prepared for food.
Maya put down her cinnamon cookies on one of the tables.
They were gonna do many activities there too, other than just eating delicious and various foods and chatting and Maya was excited about trying them. The activities around the field consisted of corn-hole, miniature summoner's court and leaf-pressing. She wondered if there would be more activities as the night went on.
She didn't know anybody she knew there for now. Instead of waiting for someone she met before she figured she can find and met some new friends there, who loves fall and food as much as she did. She looked around to see who she can meet and talk with. Some of the students were already talking to each other, meanwhile some others were hanging out there alone for now. She supposed it would be better to meet another first years like her, or even just a bit older. She also thought about talking with another student from her house but she couldn't see any other Slytherins other than the one she thinks made the event.

Iris had noticed that something was getting set up in the courtyard earlier and she had made a mental note to ask around to see what the commotion was about. Upon doing her asking she found out the that event was some sort of fall event.
She had heard that a requirement was to bring some food. She didn't know many fall food recipes but what she did know is a recipe she had looked up online of a muggle drink called Apple Cider.
So, to make this drink she did research and true to Iris fashion she made sure to do quality research and only use the best sounding recipe. She had gathered all of the ingredients that she needed and made sure to find the biggest container that she could store it in. Then, she had brought it to the event. Now, Iris has smelled the drink and the cinnamon and apple combo burned her nose. Maybe she hasn't made it right? But to her it seemed to be too strong. She probably wouldn't drink any but she hoped someone else would enjoy it.
So as she arrives she set the drink down and took a long moment to look around and see what other witches and wizards were doing. She had never been too social. All her social interactions were always choppy and awkward.
Who did she even talk to? Does she even know anyone there? Iris took this moment to look around as those questions were racing in her head. She let out a sigh and couldn't help but wonder why she had even come here. Why must she always subject herself to these social events rather than studying? She rubbed her eyes and looked for somebody... Anybody she knew or somebody ... Anybody who would be willing to talk to her.

| C | 𝕾he had been walking with her heads up in the clouds. Not out of bliss no, but rather out of some emotion that is swirling within her. Something she cannot name. She sighed and rubbed her temples. An action of frustration she has been doing everyday. And suddenly a newly added poster on the bulletin board caught her eye. It was not the words or anything about the activity. But rather what caught her eye immediately was the doodles on the poster. Hasty little sketches of fall leaves were drawn across the page. Eraser marks dotted the page here and there. And finally her eyes and heart got caught on the poem. She loved everything that had to do with literature. If the doodle intrigued her, the poem signed the deal. She was definitely going. And the fact that they were asked to bring food definitely helped the case. She rushed to her dorm so she could prepare everything for the event. She decided to start with the deserts then the outfit then wrestling Talia into a cute costume. Marcella had gotten letter from her mother requesting, no begging, her to put herself out there so she could heal. She wasn't doing this for herself but rather for her mother. Her family. And friends. Because they are the people who was pushing themselves hard for her cause. Cooking was one of her favorite therapies. Marcella decided to take out her grandmother's back to school gift - a copy of the cookbook passed down through the many generations of di Angelos. The original cookbook sat in a glass case in the di Angelo Galleria. She quickly flipped through the pages and found the desserts she wanted to make. She quickly set to making Pumpkin Spice Tiramisù, Torta di Mele, Schwarzplententorte and caramel apple pudding for the event. She quickly got dressed in one of her many comfort fits and left her long hair cascading down her back. She was too depressed to maintain it, but that never stopped her hair from shining. She quickly dressed Talia in a cute ghost costume. It was not halloween yet but well it was coming. Marcella loved dressing up and she would take any reason and excuse to do so. And since various activities are flooding the halls of Hogwarts, she had prepared her self to seize every single one of them. So she could atleast get the semblance of herself back. Atleast that would make her parents worry less. Soon the evening star was up in the sky. Marcella walked to the grounds while she levitated her trays of dessert to follow her and carried Talia in her arms. Upon entrance she was met with the sight of lines of magical fairy lights strung across, along with dried orange and yellow leaves, dancing with the breeze. Picnic benches were set out in uneven rows, with long tablecloths. She let Talia hop down and placed the desserts she made on the table. She decided that she'd better search for a better way to pass time, and looked around. Various activities had been set up around the field, such as corn-hole, miniature summoner's court, and leaf-pressing. Quilts were laid out on the grounds for star gazing. She decided to try out lead pressing. She decided to try out leaf pressing, which she has never really even seen being done. She wondered whether someone who knew was there, so they'd be able to teach her. She smiled knowing that she would not rest until she perfects the art of leaf pressing. It would annoy her to the ends of her life if she does not perfect any of the skills she wants and needs, that would be criminal. And later on she'll get to eating small bits of every food. Let this be a day of trials and new experiences. |

The Fall Equinox Potluck

The soft crunch of fallen leaves under her feet and the sweet, musty smell of earth and decay all around, offset quite nicely the sepia skies of the dusk, like the world collectively decided to exist exclusively in oranges and yellows.
Mabon (a lovely term for the Fall Equinox that she borrowed from muggle Wiccan religion) has always made Rosamund feel warm and fuzzy and nostalgic, like she just reached the chapter at the end of a good book and then deliberately slowed down her reading pace to savor its last few pages. At home, her mother would just prepare a small feast for them, ceremonially fill a horn of plenty, and draw their curtains close earlier than usual.
Personally, she just thought that it was quite interesting how people of the past mark the turning of time with the approximate positions of the earth with the sun during the year. Today, she noted, was one of the two times in a year where the day is of equal length with the night before the latter dominates over the former until
Ostara in spring. It made logical sense, she supposed, that people would want to celebrate the last harvest of the season before the cold sets in and most flora and fauna hibernate.
Staring at the pretty fairy lights and rows and rows of cozy picnic benches all over the grounds before her, she supposed that she didn't really mind how people celebrate the equinox.
When she saw the post that the school would be celebrating it with a potluck, she immediately asked her mother to send her her mother's herb roasted chicken on the eve of the 22nd of September. Thankfully, the freshly cooked chicken that smelled heavenly arrived promptly that late afternoon.
Rosamund then approached a lone table at the far edges of the ground and carefully levitated her herb roasted chicken on it. She liked being able to watch everyone and everything as she savored being outside with the leaves and the musty earth, the setting sun, the sepia skies and the rising moon at a distance.
