Life Before Hogwarts

Born to Lola and Matthew Woodrow in the small village of Wingham, England, Atlas' very existence was the last straw for his parents' already strained marriage. The boy was hardly four when they divorced, and Matthew Woodrow was never to be seen again. Unknown to any muggle but Lola Woodrow, her husband was a wizard; a secret she guarded with hostility, especially to the young and curious Atlas. Mrs. Woodrow deeply resented the wizarding world, believing it was not only the ultimate cause to her estranged relationship with Mr. Woodrow, but bearing magic was simply evil. The absolute last thing she needed was for her only child to be a part of this monstrous community as well. It didn't help that Atlas was quite like his father, even before he began to show signs of magic. Something about his eyes, his curiosity for the world around him, his smile- even the way he walked! Lola wouldn't say she hated the young boy, yet whatever fragment of love she had left for him was buried under her harsh demeanor. Atlas learned to stay quiet and keep to himself. However, for a boy like him, he often didn't, much to the dismay of his mother. He preferred his Grandparents, whom he began to see less and less as he aged, but they were kind enough and tolerated his questions.

Other children usually didn't mind Atlas' chattery mouth and occasional witty remarks. In fact, they found him rather charming and he was quite popular amongst them, much to his surprise. His teachers, however, were a much different story- after all, no teacher likes to deal with a student that just won't shut up.

First Instance of Magic

He must have been about eight years old, getting upset that his mother wouldn't let him have his favorite dessert, the chocolate trifle, for his awful table manners at the dinner table. So, like an immature eight-year-old, he threw a fat tantrum instead of helping mom with the dishes. Unexpectedly, a glass cup resting on the table a few feet away from him shattered. His mother was livid for more reasons than a shattered cup, but sent Atlas to his room without saying anything.
