And the game began!

The initial strategy was a bit simple for the beaters. Pete was supposed to intercept Leo's bludgers, while he himself would be flying down, ready to catch anyone. Sure, it wasn't a fun thing to do, but with a strongman like Leo on the opposing team who is on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, it was better to stay safe than sorry.

From the looks of how the bludger was going, it was bound to hit Marcella, but Pete was successfully able to hit it back and aim it towards their opposing Keeper, Normal. This almost sounded something like from a Spider-Man movie, namely Tobey's second or third one. Aaron wasn't sure, he wasn't born when either of them were released, and the modern MCU is much better than those movies. Though NWH did call back the old cast.... But that was a different discussion which was making Aaron loose focus from the match.

Fortunately for the team as a whole, he didn't have to catch anyone from falling as no one was hit from a bludger, but from what he could see, their keeper and one of their chasers did get a bit hurt.

The match still went on and they were able to score 10 points, but the opposing team had scored 20 points.

It was at this moment that Aaron realised he was flying in a Quidditch game, albeit an unofficial one. Sure, it is more like to keep himself in shape and to ensure that if someone resigns, he is ready to move up to become a second-string beater, but it was his first time flying overall, apart from a couple of times in their lessons.

As Aaron took circles of the pitch on the school broom, he took a small second to enjoy the wind on his face, while being tension free as no one was falling. He then prepared himself for the next action, which should be more fun than just flying about hoping to save someone.

Ebony blew the whistle and the match began. Ophelia couldn't have any of the jelly slugs anymore, or she'd feel sick. The probability that she'd have to go in the pitch in any of the following rounds made her forget about the snack. The possibility that this match could determine the future first-years' view on Quidditch, one of them getting KOB'ed (hopefully not, though), or falling unconscious, made her feel sick. She realized she hadn't felt so nervous in her first unofficial Quidditch match for herself as she was feeling for the younger ones. She'd gathered enough experience in Quidditch not to be scared of bludgering and/or hurting someone anymore; but she could still very well understand the two beaters if they were at least a little bit terrified or worried. Ophelia turned to Persephone so they could talk and strategize; maybe find a few patterns or loopholes they could use as an advantage. Even though they were talking, Ophelia's eyes never left the game; maybe a few times to ensure that Persephone knew she was still listening, but other than that, she was focused. Perhaps it was a good thing that she was a second-string player this time. She could try to understand the tactics of the opposing team better from the ground, spectating the match and seeing what could be done better.

"Tsk." She muttered. The score stood 20 to 10 for the other team. What she hoped would happen was Denisse at least getting a glimpse of the snitch or one of the beaters being able to defend the others. Or better yet, nobody getting too injured or KOB'd. Lorelei and Riley had been hurt a bit, but it didn't seem from down there to be too serious.

She watched all of them take to the skies with her blue eyes aglow and struggling to tamp down the excitement that was boiling in her belly. Her fingers curled around Luciana and the corner of her lip turned upwards in a savage smile as they zipped overhead faster and faster.

The one creature-girl was trying to chase after the smallest of the balls--the golden one with wings of silver. She was small, simple-looking, fragile. Not worth the effort of chasing, but well worth the effort of frightening off--away from her territory.

"Fl-y, lit-tle auk!" Her syllables were a little staggered, obviously thinking actively about her pronunciation as her light little voice cut through the air like a chill. Her eyes narrowed as her smile transformed into a snarling smile with all her teeth bared. "For if caught, you killed! If snared, you bleed! If struck--your pret-ty wings break!" She tipped her head, watching the girl-creature with an absent amusement. "At least we wring neck fast. Slow-ly if thrash." The grin slowly shrank back into a demure smile, her eyes glittering gold. It was sad, sometimes, the way that such beautiful flying creatures fell from the skies.

And yet how beautiful the way their feathers fell, as if they would continue to fly even without the wings of the creature to carry them.

George felt elated.
Yep. Elated was the word.
When the whistle went off, and the Quaffle went up, everything seemed in slow motion except for his own movements. As soon as the Quaffle's descent began, he swooped in like a hawk and grabbed it out of nowhere.
Then, as if that wasn't weird enough, he half-teleported to the front of the hoops, tricked the Keeper, and scored.
Yeah, just like planned.
His teammate Evgenia followed up with one more, making the score 20-0.
When it seemed like nothing could go wrong, Team 1 got two consecutive shots. Normal saved the first with a "solid block", and then the next one went through the hoop, ruining the perfect score.
As if that wasn't enough, he saw Denisse, the other team's Seeker, turn her eyes towards a golden... object.
Oh crud. The Snitch.
Andrea was still hunting wildly, but in spite of himself. George smiled. He knew exactly what was going to happen and telling himself not to worry, swerved his broom around, and rushed to his position a short distance from the hoop.
If everything went right, all was well. If everything went wrong, George was never there. He pointed his broom forward at the Quaffle, praying for the first one to happen.

Then the whistle blared, loud and shrill over the murmur of the spectators.

Denisse launched into the azure heavens, joining the other players in flight. The instant that her body left the ground, a terrible, painfully loud shout invaded the space directly before her. She recognized Zyva's boisterous voice and pulled her body back to earth as her ears were invaded by the second-strings' bench.

Her voice was so unlike its owner that it caught her temporarily off-guard, but that fact added to her confusion.

Awesome, zero pressure, she thought, shaking her head to rid herself of the stinging taunts as she leveled out. Zyva's gonna regret booing her.

She pushed her attention away from the chaos in the middle of the pitch and looked up at the sky. On her side, Andrea, an opposing Seeker, was already focusing on the edge of the playing field. She took a deep, clean breath, felt the rhythm of the game envelop her, and attempted to view her mental picture earlier-the Snitch retreating to some nook-and-cranny-and started to methodically scan the pitch.

Then, against all odds, she saw it.

A flash of bright metallic gold shimmered through the lazy afternoon sun. Concealed in a mere blink of an eye, it was camouflaged in the dapple of the warm sunlight. Beginner's luck? Pure intuition?

She identified it immediately. Her breath caught in her throat, a sudden rush of adrenaline and panic flooding her body.

Looking over, she saw Andrea still searching, blind to the little gold sphere. Denisse narrowed her eyes on her quarry and leaned a little further on the haft, aiming the Snitch in her sights. All she had to do now was catch it.

As soon as the whistle blew, tension pulled Lorelei's shoulders tight, and her fixation on the Quaffle was too strong to do anything to remedy the obvious nervousness she was exuding. Her worry turned to dread as she watched all three of the opposing team's Chasers go for the ball.

What felt like mere seconds later, George was flying straight toward her with the Quaffle. Lorelei tried to predict which hoop he was headed for, doing her best with her limited Quidditch knowledge to stop him from scoring. Evidently, she'd read his strategy wrong, and watched dejectedly as the Quaffle sailed through her goal. The score updated: 0-10.

Lorelei recalled her captain's strategy advice: use speed to her advantage and fly quickly back and forth to cover each of the hoops as much as possible. She put the strategy into action, racing across the goalposts as quickly as she could while watching Evgenia approach with the Quaffle.

As the ball left the Chaser's hands, Lorelei reached out to grab it, attempting to prevent another score. Instead, her arms didn't quite reach far enough, and the Quaffle bent her hands back uncomfortably on its way through the hoop.

"Shit!" Lorelei yelped, pulling her hands back as a twinge of pain shot through her left wrist. That pain only worsened at the sight of the scoreboard changing to 20-0.

Thankfully, Marcella and Maisie were able to take back control over the pitch and relieve some of the pressure on the keeper, giving Lorelei a moment to try to recover. Still, she was already out of breath, exhausted from both the frantic flying and her failed attempts to block the shots.

Diana kept her muted grey-green eyes locked on the pitch as the game quickly became far more active than it had looked before the whistle was blown. The score had already shifted to 20-10. Team 2 which is her team managed to take an early lead before Maisie answered with a goal of her own. There was a lot happening at once and Diana found herself trying to follow as much of it as she could without letting her attention settle on just one part of the pitch for too long.

Eventually her gaze drifted up toward the Seekers. Andrea was still searching for the snitch. Diana had cheered for her at the beginning of the match hoping that a little encouragement from the bench might help settle some of the nerves that came from being a first-string Seeker. Now though she could see that the situation has changed. Denisse appeared to have found something since her movements became noticeably more focused as she continued through the air. Diana's eyes narrowed slightly as she followed Denisse's line of sight. She couldn't actually see the snitch from where she was sitting. At least she couldn't see it yet. But there was clearly something that'd caught Denisse's attention and Diana knew enough about the rules to understand what that could mean. Diana's attention then immediately returned to Andrea. For a moment Diana wondered whether she should call out but she quickly decided against it. Andrea was already searching and shouting from the bench wouldn't help her concentrate. Diana instead simply watched and quietly studied the way both Seekers moved through the air. She had never played an actual match before so there was something useful about being able to see the difference between searching for the snitch and actually knowing where it is. She has only seen matches being played but it was more chaotic from sitting on the bench than sitting on the stands and watching a match.

Diana briefly glanced toward the rest of the pitch as another burst of movement caught her attention. The Chasers were still battling for control of the Quaffle while the Beaters continued their own work which made the entire game feel almost impossible to keep track of. Diana adjusted her grip on her borrowed school broom. So far she was learning that Quidditch was much more chaotic up close than it had ever seemed from the stands. Still she kept watching Andrea. If Andrea needed to come off the pitch for any reason Diana wanted to be ready. Until then there was nothing she could do except observe and learn from what was happening above her. And perhaps most importantly hope that Andrea found the snitch before Denisse did.

The pitch was all at once a tangle of brooms and bodies as Evgenia shot up into the sky, following the other two chasers on her team. She squinted at that ball, the one called the quaffle, and prepared to give chase.
Teamwork in a sport was somewhat new to Evgenia. She was a singles skater, not a pairs skater or ice dancer. In her sport, all depended on her and how she performed; but here, that was not the case. She would have to actually work with the others in order to accomplish anything. Don't wreck it, Evgenia. She'd just have to hope she didn't completely forget that she wasn't the sole player here, and that she didn't make any major fumbles.
She had the pleasure of watching the chaser named George put the quaffle through one of the opposing team's hoops, but then - but then - the quaffle in question was thrown, and Evgenia felt herself moving on an interception path automatically. One of the opponent chasers came close, but Evgenia reached up to grab it away from her, tucking it snugly to her body. It was honestly sort of like she was practicing a spin or a jump. She bolted toward the hoops, eyes locked onto her target, a focused stare on her face that could only be described as incredibly intimidating. Wobbling just slightly on her broom, she reached one hand back, quaffle secured, and threw.
The sight of the quaffle entering the hoops was underscored by Ebony's commentary, not unlike what Evgenia was used to hearing at competitions, and she zoomed away from the hoops, grinning in triumph despite herself. The elation of her success was perhaps dulled slightly by the Williams girl's score not long after, but Evgenia's team was still leading. They had time. They could win this.

Atlas watches as the bludger hits Normal, wincing at how hard it looked, but it must not have felt as hard as it looked because Normal seemed barely affected by the hit. Atlas looks over to all the other players, then to everyone on the bench, before moving his gaze back to Normal, taking mental notes on everything he sees Normal doing in case he has to substitute. Atlas doesn't notice that his knee is bouncing. "His stance is good from what I know...what if I have to go up there? What if I make a fool of myself? Or let all the goals in? Maybe I'm not cut out for this....No. Atlas, pull yourself together. You can do this. Relax." Atlas thinks to himself. Unknowingly to him, his fingers turn into claws and dig into his palms, drawing blood from how hard he's clenching his fists. As soon as Atlas notices, he immediately relaxes his hand and inspects the cuts. "Seriously, now's the time my stupid body decides to flip out. What the hell happened to my fingers? I hate when this happens. I found out I'm something called a metamorph, and I still can't control any of it. No wonder Carys and Mum and Dad think I'm a creep. Perfect, just perfect. What's next? Tentacles? Wings?" Atlas thinks, frustrated. He keeps trying to turn his hands back to normal, still keeping one eye on the match.

And finally, the game has begun. Just like usual, the zooming of the brooms, the throwing of the quaffle, the flying of the snitch that Andy barely kept up with on ground, nevertheless in the air while trying to control a broom while dodging bludgers and other people! Man, way harder than being a keeper! But the game has just begun, and Andy is already on his second cup of tea from his thermos. For today, he got a gourmet blend of mint, raspberry and huckleberry leaves and hints of apricot notes. That's Andy's favorite that he brought from home in his mansion in Perth, Scotland. The tea perfectly resembeles early fall, and just chilly weather overall. For a second, or even for 5-6 minutes, Andy even fell asleep, and when he woke up, 10-20 on the score board. Team 1 was losing. Yes, team 1! Was it the keeper's fault? Chaser? Beaters? What is the difference. We are losing, and nothing will change that unless the team locks in and starts playing! Andy put his tea down and gripped his Nibus 1700 tightly, so tightly that it started to hurt. Before the match, Andy didn't really polish or clean anything on his broom so If he does go in, then he will be more wobbly, and fly worse, but as a keeper, you don't need to be fast for long distances. You need reaction time and awarness, something that the team isn't doing right now. The early autumn air was starting to blow a bit more, and even though Andy was in a Ravenclaw wool Sweatshirt, it was pretty chilly. He opened up his tea again and commenced his watching. Whatever happens, weather Andy goes on the field, or not, he will have a fun time winning.
