Kicking his feet against the ground, Arjan looked around. There were a few familiar faces, members of his own school, and some kind of cute girls. He nodded to himself in approval, not a bad idea joining the game... He could totally show off. Maybe give them a flag and help them win. Though... He would rather win. Hm. This was tricky. Eyeing up the cute girl on the Durmstrang team as some kids rambled on about instructions, he smirked to himself.
"Girl's got a point though," Arjan added into the conversation, as she criticised the boy's use of a foreign language to insult someone. If you were going to try and be mean, at least make sure they understood it. It was kind of boring or hard to offend someone when they did not actually understand what you were saying. Far more entertaining to watch them get annoyed, flail around like idiots as they came up with a retort and then just punch them in the face when they were being smartasses.
He spotted one of his tent mates, Rudolf Novikov, getting excited for the game. He looked far too happy and nice. It was a little exhausting how he seemed to be nice. Reminded him of his sister and that was never a good sign. He seemed to be playing the mediator in the whole thing, which was a little boring. It was far better to pick a side than to sit on the fence but eh... Perhaps Novikov would grow on him.
Admittedly, he was far too busy paying attention to the girl [CIELLE] than he was to the referees from Hogwarts - though that girl [TYRANNI] was kind of cute too. Cracking his knuckles, he smirked as he glanced around. Go in, capture a base and escape. Sounded simple enough. He could definitely do that. Obviously offensive tactics were far better than a defensive tactic. Just rush in. That's what wise men do, right?! Yes, of course! Smirking, he moved in the direction of Base #1. Because if they wanted to win, they needed to claim that sweet number one spot.
Whilst it might not be true for this game, that was how his mind worked. The top spot was always #1. If they claimed that, they won. It was that simple.

Capture the Base

Mentioning Rett's Boyfriend @Rafael D'Spacito
Rett was never one for sports, his house of Horned Serpent represented the mind after all. He was one to observe, he was never into playing Quidditch. The most athletic he got was riding horses with his family. There was one reason, and one goal, that pushed all of his activity at the summer camp. To get close to and get to know Rafael. The boy had a wit that matched his own and a track record that intrigued him. He had 20 days to capture his heart, but he supposed he could start with a silly game of capturing a flag.
He approached the area where students of all three houses had already started gathering. The heat wasn't too much for him, he lived in the South after all. Although, he did make sure to gear up with enough sun protection so he wouldn't have to worry about leaving the game burnt. That wasn't exactly a productive way to stay appealing to the one you're trying to woo. He stood with his arms crossed. He was wearing appropriate running sneakers, pale blue striped drawstring white shorts, and a gray t-shirt. Not exactly his type of style but if he was going to be running around he might as well look the part. His attention stayed attached to Rafael, until Tyranni started speaking. He was, afterall, respectful at his core. To not give a speaker attention is just absolutely rude and frowned upon.
An eyeroll was procured when Rafael announced that he had to be a ref, so much for trying to best him in the game itself. As soon as the game started, Rett sighed and looked around for the best strategy before quickly darting off in an attempt to capture base #5 with a red flag.

After the quidditch match, this was the event Cassius was most looking forward to during the Hogwarts summer camp. Despite a rather shy demeanor and disposition, the lanky Ravenclaw was fiercely competitive both in the classroom and on the pitch and he was looking forward to a chance to compete for Hogwarts.
Having arrived a few minutes before the announced assembly time, Cassius waited with the other children for the rules to be explained as he retied his running shoes for the third time. It would be his first time playing Capture the Flag. At home, the game was considered a 'muggle' game which naturally meant his parents had never allowed him to participate; but, his parents were not here and Cassius could indulge his competitive energy and curiosity.
Wearing off-white khaki shorts and a blue polo the boy looked more suited for a yacht club than a field of battle but the clothes fit loosely enough that he had little worry about their getting in the way. "Ready?" He asked his classmates standing by their school's tent with a wide grin as he approached the group, hands on his hips. Once the game began, Cassius sprinted out of the camp heading for one of the unoccupied bases [Base 4], joining the other runners in their quest to capture some bases. "Let's split up and capture them before they're all claimed! It looks like we have people that will be willing to guard!" He shouted to May and Lydia as he attempted to claim his first base for Hogwarts.

Miranda glanced around at the other players. She didn't know most of them - actually, make that all of them, and that made her nervous. She had never been good around strangers, but the allure of playing an outdoor game had been too much for her, so she'd joined anyways.
I hope I don't mess up, and then our team loses, and everyone gets mad at me, she worried, a lifetime of parental anger catching up with her. Maybe this wasn't the best idea... Either way, it was too late for Miranda to back out now, so she was in whole-heartedly, if a little nervously.
She glanced over, her attention grabbed by an argument some of the older students were having, but didn't bother listening closely. If she wasn't involved, it didn't matter.
Her eyes bounced around the playing field, taking it all in for later use. Preparation was the most important step to any undertaking, if you asked her. She'd be most useful if she actually knew what she'd be doing instead of trying to decide while all the action went on around her. I'll probably try to capture bases, Miranda decided. I'm not the best at guarding, since I tend to get distracted.
Her attention was entirely diverted from her plans by the Gryffindor Quiditch Captain (she didn't know his name), telling everyone to line up behind a long white marker on the grass. She hurried to do as he asked, determined not to mess anything up for her team.
"Let the games begin!" he shouted, and she bolted forwards, toward one of the currently unoccupied bases.

Open to interactions!Vita scowled up at the sun as if her immense distaste could make it disappear. Which it couldn't, of course, but she'd never been one to give up on something just because it was impossible. If she wasn't so intent on proving Durmastrang's superiority, she would have left the tent hours ago to find some solitude - rules be damned. As it was, some British folk needed to be shown how competition was really done, and she thought she was a stellar candidate for the job.
Her hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail and a few, flyaway strands stuck to her cheeks in the heat. The upwards tilt of her chin promised a stubborn show of defiance and she thoughtfully twirled her wand in her long fingers. Though she doubted magic would be allowed in a game such as the one the Hogwarts boy explained, a sneaky hex never hurt anybody... well, not permanently, anyway. It didn't sound as if her teammates would be entirely opposed to the idea either. Their crude language made Vita's lips twitch and her eyes brighten. Cielle obviously hadn't been trained in proper etiquette. Not that Vita had been either. There was only so hard her mother could try.
Unfortunately, not everyone from her school gave her smile lines, and one such itch was on her team. Alexie Petrov (@Anastasia Beckett) had a rather nasty reputation of being a sexist ba- ... Ehem. Well, someone rather uncaring of girls' feelings. Vita sent him a scathing look out of the corner of her eye. She had always assumed he was a pureblood, simply because his clothes far outpriced her own and his manner was something one rarely saw in someone who wasn't high on society's ladder of respect. She didn't know his status for sure, but she didn't possess the open-mindedness to actually bother to find out. It didn't really matter. Either way, she'd still continue to loath his guts.
"Svolotsch'" She muttered as she passed him, readying herself to start the game. Her eyes caught on some Hogwarts girl's strange skin paint as she readied herself to run. But where to, exactly, she wasn't sure. So when old megaphone guy claimed the game had 'begun', Vita hesitated.
Yebena mat'! Now she'd be behind the other schools. But what to do...
One Durmstrang boy rushed off to claim a tent and Vita swiftly decided she would do that too. She was used to rolling in the mud with her brothers and had learnt early on that it was best to start with offence. There'd be plenty of time to defend later, but first, they had to get themselves a base. Vita sprinted in the opposite direction to the boy who she was pretty sure called Rudolph, attempting to claim one of the middle tents for Durmstrang. The light blue flag in her grip coaxed a smile onto her face as she ran, her blood pumping in her veins at last. Durmstrang was going to win. It was blissfully hot. Lovely. And for once, Karilyna wasn't being sarcastic--Arizona, U.S.A. had been her home for the past nine years (before she'd attended Ilvermorny, of course), so scorching temperatures were not at all new to the girl. Though she'd adapted to such a climate, it wasn't like she enjoyed feeling sunburnt and peeling all the time, but that was life for you. Besides, a sunburn really wasn't that bad--not to her, at least.
"Sorryy," she answered as Phyllis hurried her, continuing to mess with the white laces of her sneakers. So what if she'd undone her shoelaces just to braid and knot them, the night before? She wasn't in the habit of sleeping with her shoes on, so leaving the hopelessly knotted-together shoes overnight hadn't been a problem. In the morning? Well, in short, Karilyna had conveniently forgot, and now faced the pain of unlooping strings, a process that required patience she certainly did not have. "I'm done, I'm done" she finally said, stuffing her small feet into her equally small Converse. After all, she had better things to worry about than whether or not her shoelaces were neatly tied--things like Capture the Base.
Karilyna set off at a sprint, jet-black hair flying in the wind as she tried to catch up with her best friend. "Waiiiiit!" she whined, pushing herself to go faster. But try as she might, she was always a few inches behind. Well, it wasn't her fault if she had shorter legs, was it? Next time, she'd have to jump onto Phyllis' back or something. Anything for not being left behind simply because she was small.
Running out of breath, she was forced to slow as she neared the pitch where the best, most amazing part of summer camp so far would be. After all, she'd have to run her hardest through the game--and who knew how long that would be--so to exert herself entirely now would be foolish. Just when it seemed she'd never make it in time, Karilyna ducked through the entrance, skidding to a stop to catch her breath. Just in time.
Drifting in and out of reality as rule after rule was laid out, she began to rock a bit on her feet. She supposed the boundaries were necessary, but they were just so boring. So, her face visibly brightened when the boy mentioned not getting caught. Though Karilyna might not have been the fastest, nor the most elusive, she thought herself quite sneaky. She definitely would wouldn't get caught.
At long last, the game commenced. While Phyllis beelined towards base 2, Karilyna held back a bit. There were a lot of big, scary people out here on the field, and though she had the advantage of being much smaller, she wasn't quite sure she wanted to grapple with someone twenty times stronger than her. Not yet, at least. Being patient and observing was awful for the young girl who loved to do as she pleased, but even she could understand that it would have its benefits.
As she watched her allies and opponents rush in different directions, a plan was formulating in her mind. Though often rash, there was no denying that the girl could be cunning at times. With a glance over her shoulder, she ran towards another base [base 7], intent on stealing the white flag from the lofty rafters (wait, could she even reach that high? Hopefully so) and replacing it with a red one. There wasn't yet anyone guarding or targeting that base, so this couldn't be that hard, right? It'd better not be.

Wearing a pair of black shorts and a white tank top he made his way over to where he knew the capture the base game would take place. As he arrived he could already see @Rafael D'Spacito who he had spend a bit of this morning with. Now the boy was making an announcement, possibly in the hopes to gather a lot of students fast as the game would be about to start. Another person was helping him, a girl he was not all too familiar with but that was okay, he knew Rafael which was enough. He was excited for this day and would give the captain a wave as if to greet him, hoping he would catch him amidst the other students of the three schools.
When the game got the signal to start he would encourage his team, his school and start to steer his focus to the game and the game only. What could he possibly do so close to the start of the game? Not thinking much he would snatch one of the golden banners and run his way over to one of the bases that were not claimed yet and had not gathered the attention of any of the other students. If he was to be successful he would switch out the white banner that he would find there, with the golden banner he had earlier picked from the pile of Hogwarts banners. He truly hoped that he would manage to capture one of the bases in the very first round. The tent he was about to tackle seemed to be the sixth of the possible bases that the students could claim and Alan was confident in his success as he made a run for it.

Permission to god-mode Nikolai received
It was hot. Too hot. Not the type of sweltering that did at least make its way to the northern parts of Scandanavia at least once in a while, but not usually into well into the heart of summer. Not quite so early as this. And for Greta, who much preferred the chillier notes of weather that supported her preference for layering clothing, this was just a little uncomfortable. She had come prepared, however, bringing items of lighter-weight thin linen and had donned a simple breezy garment for the day, keen to miss out on nothing during her short stay here in the United Kingdom.
This morning was no different. She'd been milling about, curiously watching some of the Hogwarts students from a safe distance and attempting, rather begrudgingly, to work through some of the language exercises she'd brought with her when the overly loud shouting had caught her attention. Curiosity flooded through her. Several students, most from either Hogwarts or that American school, but also a few from her own, were making there way towards the voices. She couldn't understand what was being said.
Her immediate reaction was to peer around for Hanzo. She first looked one way, then the other, then turned slowly on the spot with her gaze flitting in and around the structures about her in search of any sign of her brother. She found none. Instead, she spied Nikolai. Always hesitant to raise her voice, she gathered her things, dipped quickly into their tent to dump them on her bed, and hastened back outside to catch up to him.
"Nikolai," she greeted quietly, hesitantly touching the back of his upper-arm to catch his attention. [In Russian] "Do you know where Hanzo is?" She peered up at him from below her lashes and untamed mane. Petite to begin with, the way she stood and spoke always made her seem even smaller. A glance over towards the epicentre of noise accompanied her next sentiment, "I wanted to see what is happening... Will you come with me?"
That was one thing that could be said about being the only girl in a group of boys. There was no shortage of tall, strong, knightly types willing to entertain her silly notions and provide for her the assurance and physically anchoring presence she often required. Plus they all somehow managed to speak nearly perfect English which suited her well for her translating needs. She beamed up at him when he acquiesced, and without another word, slipped her hand into his to pull him forward with hastened steps towards the action.
If he chose not to keep up with her less-than-dignified rush, she'd let his hand go and just wait at gathering point for him to catch up.
[In Russian] "What did they say?" She glanced up to Nikolai the moment the instructions had been delivered, requesting clarification. A slight scowl crossed her features the moment he'd translated the directions. "We should have been the red ones..." Didn't they know the colour of their uniforms? Plus, she was a little extra salty since red was the primary colour of her nation, too. It would have been more fitting. But, she supposed blue wasn't so bad either. "That one is interesting," she added, nodding her head in Tyranni's direction. The girl's warpaint had caught Greta's attention as it was very similar to what she was known to do when going into any battle of Quidditch.
[In Russian still] "Behind the line then..." Her gaze trailed after the rest, and she followed suit, placing herself appropriately. There were a few of her own classmates around, some from different years. No surprise there, really. She was, however, a bit taken aback by the venom already being tossed back and forth. It was less than dignifying. Durmstrang was — at least in her mind — the more reputable and stronger institution. There was no need to sling vitriol in an attempt to show them up. "They had better be back that up with action..." she murmured quietly to Nikolai.
When the time came for the game to start, that's exactly what she planned to do. Words were unnecessary. Action spoke louder. If they could mount a victory over any of the games and activities that preceded the match later in the month, then the crush to their opponent's morality would be all the greater. In a friendly competition and building good report with foreign schools and Wizardly neighbours kind of way. Of course.
At the call to start, Greta raced off, skirts kicking at her feet as she went. There had been a slight moment of lag before she realised they had called for the start, but as the others began, so too did she. It seemed like Hogwarts, with their golden flags in hand, must have done some planning ahead. As though in perfect harmony, most of them diverged, each to head for a different tent while some lingered back to guard. No matter. She could see at least two of her own going for one tent (#5), so she went elsewhere (#4), her flag gripped tightly her expression determined for one so little.
