Growing up, Amelia Lovell didn't have very many friends. No, she didn't smell funny, or look weird, or make things awkward. The Ravenclaw just took no interest in social interaction, or only concerned herself with the bare minimum of it. Her parents weren't all too worried about it either--they thought it showed extreme focus on her studies and they were proud of her for it. Amelia sometimes feared her parents cared more about her academic success than anything else, including her as a whole human being, but she'd never admit to that. Although, every child had at least one or two friends growing up, and for Amelia, that was Peach Thorne.

Both Ms. Thorne and Peach would come stay at their estate whenever they'd swing through London. The first person Amelia had owled was Peach when she received her wand from Diagon Alley, and had figured out both of their wands were made of cherry wood. They both loved magical creatures, and learning the things that interested them. Peach made Amelia feel comfortable in her silence, not alone in her reservation. Peach was there when Amelia felt inadequate in her father's eyes, and had let a few tears shed every so often as a young child because of it. The brunette would constantly let Peach know how jealous she was of her blue eyes, and how her hair was longer than her own. If the Ravenclaw had anything close to a best friend, it was this Hufflepuff girl. Amelia trusted her more than anyone next to her immediate family, and that's why they were going to the Abandoned Toilets.

They had spoken about going a few times, the first year thought, but from what she could remember, she had never thought that Peach would be too serious about...well...ghost hunting. Amelia wanted to call it spirit hunting, because there were ghosts that roamed Hogwarts all the time, it wasn't something abnormal in the magical world. The abandoned toilets were a place where people very often didn't go, though, so she had bet it was the closest thing to actually being haunted. It was on the second floor of the castle, and the toilets were at the very end of a dank and darker corridor. That's where they had agreed to meet, right before heading down the corridor together.

That's where Ms. Lovell was currently standing, trying to stop her hands from shaking unreasonably. She wasn't a coward, but she definitely wasn't the bravest girl in the world, either. At the ripe age of eleven, things of the negative haunted variety scared her as much as it excited her. Perhaps having Peach's presence around would ease the fear. Waiting patiently for her childhood friend, who wasn't necessarily late since Amelia was always early, the pale girl switched her dark gaze back and forth from the top of the staircase her friend would be arriving from, back down the corridor filled with potential nightmares.

Peach remembered her mother telling her how Ms. Lovell had been so supportive when her father left. They had gone to their estate, in London, to get some rest and to be away from everything. Peach remembered the cries of her mother, in Ms. Lovell's arms, and she also remembered the little girl of the same age, sitting on one of the couches. Peach had been shy at first but towards the end of the night, the two girls were roaming the estate together, discovering hidden things. Since that moment, the girls had shared sadness and happiness, fears and solitude and most importantly, love and loyalty. They weren't so different, after all. They both were a little awkward socially and they both loved studying, which was why they were extremely surprised to not have been sorted in the same house. It wasn't a problem, but it brought them apart a little, as they spent less time together.

Peach used to come to Amelia's estate on holidays, while her mother was sent to Russia to care for dragons, and during that time, the girls became inseparable. They worked together and they laughed together. Amelia confessed her sadnesses to Peach and Peach shared her solitude with her friend. They teased each other a lot, about their hair length and eyes but they made sure to remind each other of how beautiful they were, regardless of what they believed.

Peach and Amelia had heard countless stories of spirits haunting the castle. Ghosts were usual here, but there were places that they never even dared to enter. And this is where the two friends wanted to go. It was scary and thrilling but it was an adventure and a risk they were both ready to take. When they were younger, Peach remembers clearly their mothers counting ghost stories with dramatic effects like sparkles out of their wands and scary voices. They used to all love these moments and it made Peach forget about everything.

Amelia and Peach had planned to meet up in the corridor leading to the abandoned toilets on the second floor. This corridor was rarely used and some students who had ventured into the toilets had come out screaming. At least that's what everyone said. The girls made sure to meet up during their break period so they wouldn't miss any classes, which was quite important. Peach had gotten a lamp torch and two hoodies for herself and Amelia as some of the windows of the toilets were broken, so it was very chilly in there. She hurriedly walked to the second floor, her things in hand and she saw her old time friend standing against a wall. She could see this one being nervous and Peach could not say that she wasn't a little nervous herself. But if things turned wrong, they could run out and go get some food down at the cuisines, as Hufflepuff's had a privileged access to that part of the castle.

" Hi, Amelia! I got us some hoodies in case it's cold in there! " the Huffle said to the Raven.

As Amelia stood there waiting a moment longer, the thought crossed her mind about the differences between exploration and adventure. Although they were often paired together, the Ravenclaw found that the two physical actions could be very different. Exploration usually involved searching through some shrubbery for small creatures, maybe wandering through an open landscape for shiny rocks, walking through the library in the middle of the day and finding rows you never knew existed. Adventure could be good or bad. Adventure meant thrilling things were supposed to be happening, a turn of events at any time, the jump-scares you saw in movies. This sounded more and more like a spirit adventure, than a spirit exploration, and Amelia's feeling of nervousness increased.

Luckily in that moment, she heard the approaching footfalls of Peach heading up the stairs and down the corridor towards her. A wide, toothy smile, uniquely for those who Amelia was close to, pulled her lips in an upward motion. "Peach!" She exclaimed back, as the Hufflepuff girl yelled Amelia's name. The brunette looked down at her childhood friends arms and saw the hoodies she brought to keep them warm. Amelia silently cursed herself, having not thought of the idea first, but felt a very warm feeling in her stomach of what she could only describe as close friendship. Only someone like Peach would be as thoughtful as to bring something like this, and think about Amelia's wellbeing. She couldn't grin any larger as she took the hoodie from Peach with gratitude shining in her eyes.

"Thank you! I just...ya know...don't get cold easy, so I didn't think to bring one." The first year Raven tried to blow it off like she hadn't been so caught up in the idea of finding an evil spirit that she had forgotten a hoodie. Looking at Peach, she always reminded Amelia quite a bit of her mother, who had always come off as kind to her family and had always been a welcomed guest. There was a gratefulness she had for Peach's mother, too, for bringing someone as sweet as Peach into her life. "Has anyone ever told you you're as sweet as your name?" Amelia blurted this cheerfully, throwing the hoodie over her head and getting her arms through after a moment of struggle. Popping her head out of the top, her dark brown eyes glistened with more excitement than nervousness, now. The Hufflepuff girl gave her comfort, and within that, confidence.

Looking down to the end of the corridor where the abandoned bathrooms waited, Amelia gestured down. "So, I think we need some sort of game-plan if something goes...wrong." Twirling one of her dark curls in thought, she took a moment to consider their options. "There's only one way out and one way in, right? I mean, we can't jump out a window or anything. You brought your wand, right?" As she asked the question, the Raven checked her out her own robe pocket to make sure it was still there. 'Do spells or curses work on ghosts?' She thought the question to herself, blanking on what the answer was at the moment. The dainty girl decided that there couldn't be anything too terrible roaming the abandoned bathrooms of Hogwarts...right?

Whatever was down there was definitely not full of sparks and giggles like their parents stories had been, she was sure. "What do you figure is down there, Peachy?" She said, toynig with her friends childhood nickname.

While handing the hoodie to her friend, Peach realized that they hadn't seen each other in a while. Things had been so crazy everywhere and for everyone that they had only found some time to discuss of their meeting at the toilets and that's all. Obviously, they would see each other in the corridors but their timetables were very different. They probably had one or two classes together, but the Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs didn't mix too much. Peach smiled at her friend and observed this one pop her head through the hole of the hoodie. The young girl smiled at her sweet tease and she nodded.

Amelia wasn't her best friend for nothing. They clicked younger, and they friendship would most-likely go to adulthood and even more. They weren't the type of friends who had to discuss all the time and be together at every second. They could see each other twice a week and be fine with it because they never had nothing to talk about. Once it was about the newly born babies that her mother had to care for or some drama happening in the school. It was always fun and interesting and that's probably what Peach liked the most about her friend. You were never bored.

Amelia spoke to Peach, a little nervously and this one agreed with her words. " We do need a game plan...I don't know if curses or charms work on ghosts, but I know that they can not physically harm us. spirits are blocked between two worlds and some of them can control and touch objects but not us. And yes, there is only one way in and out, and it's that door, " she said, pointing to the rusty old door of the bathrooms.  The young Hufflepuff thought about how they could escape if things turned wrong. They had no brooms so no way to Accio one of them to rescue them at the windows. If the door was locked, an Alohomora could maybe do the work and if not a bombing spell to blow up the door. No one would care anyway, these toilets weren't used at all.

Peach shared these thoughts with her friend, still a little uncertain. She was nervous, that was for sure but she wanted to do it. It was so thrilling and the excitement overcame the fear. Nothing majorly bad could happen, teachers roamed the corridors all the time. Peach took Amelia's hand in hers and looked at that one straight in the eyes. " Nothing too bad can happen, oki? And plus, we're here for each other. if something turns wrong, run to the door and leave and go get help if I'm not with you and I'll do the same on my side. It's gonna be fun! " she said, smiling. " And whatever is down here won't beat us cause we're the best! " . She actually had o idea of what could be down there but it couldn't be that bad.

Amelia wondered briefly if she'd ever have another friend like Peach. She definitely could see the two of them being life-long friends, sitting in rocking chairs as two old ladies teasing each other over stupid things that didn't really matter. There was a sense of calm and carefree happiness that came along with her presence, and Amelia being a tad insecure secretly, hoped that she felt the same around her. The two definitely did not get to see each other often, but it felt like no time had passed it all when they were together. This adventure would definitely be one for the books, and she couldn't wait to recount all the moments together later.

Snapping back into their conversation, Peach shared her uncertainty in the question of whether curses or hexes or the like worked on ghosts. Amelia racked her brain, knowing the knowledge was buried somewhere in the depths of her mind. Dazing off, her dark brown eyes glazed over a bit in thought. It dawned on her rather quickly, the brunette blurting “Yes, I remember now! Ghosts may be repelled by magical light, so they’ll retreat from the Wand-Lighting Charm. Ghosts can also be scared off by the Skurge Charm.” She looked between the two of them in a quick glance, “But they also cause disturbances in air, water and fire…and I don't know if that could be a factor in whether they can effect us if they pass through us." A small furrow appeared between the girl's eyebrows, an unsure expression crossing her face.

Peach’s words comforted Amelia. Being told that they couldn’t physically harm them. A look of relief washed over the Ravenclaw girl, and a small feeling of confidence welled up inside her, too. The rusty old door threatened that confidence, though, and her gaze fell upon it. The Hufflepuff beside her didn't seem all too concerned, though, and took Amelia's hand, reassuring her that they had a way out of any trouble and she would take care of it. With that thought it mind, and a warm smile accompanying Amelia's expression, she nodded in agreement and started to take the first few courageous steps forward. Her father would be proud.

Approaching the door, the eleven year old noticed the sound of her footfalls echoed off the walls of the corridor. Gazing up at the high ceiling for a moment, she wondered if the rest of the school would hear them if something bad happened. Their footsteps died out as they made it in front of the rusty old entrance, and Amelia decided she wouldn't be the hesitant one anymore. Grabbing the metal door-handle, she pulled with all her might and the door swung open almost too easily. It was almost pitch black in the room, and the first year looked at her best friend in excitement and surprise, wondering if there was a light-switch somewhere right inside or if they needed the lamp torch Peach had brought after-all.

Peach listened carefully to her friend. She knew The wand-lighting charm, as did everyone, but not the skurge charm. She hoped that her friend did or else they could be in some big trouble. She tied up her hair and followed Amelia to the door, feeling some kind of anxiousness creep up to her. She could feel it crawl on her ankles at first, then reach her knees and then her waist. She couldn't make it go, so she would have to deal with it. In these moments, she never allowed it to creep up further as she would most likely lose her mind. She took a couple of breaths and let them out quietly. It seemed to calm her down, and so she held her wand tight in her hand as they pushed the door open.

The first thing that she remarked was the smell. It was intrusive and aggressive and she took a step back. It smelled like a mix of human excretions and rusty metal. They couldn't see anything and it was deadly quiet. Peach pulled out her torch and lit it up, then pointed towards them. To their left were stalls with broken doors and obscene drawings on these ones.  The bolt of these ones were exploded and the toilets were broken. Some water was on the floor and it had a dark-ish color. the young girl didn't investigate more and she decided to point the light towards the mirrors. They were broken and dirty, some dark red stains were left on some of them, letting you wonder what may have happened there. The smell had tamed down and it was breathable now, thankfully.

Peach lit the floor and she was careful not to walk on any shards of glass, still holding Amelia's hand. It was comforting and the heat of her body felt nice as the toilets were fairly chilly. She looked back to her, as to make sure she was okay. She gave her a faint smile. The pounding of her heard against her thoracic cage resonated in her ears. At least, she had her friend with her, which could only be good. and how much better was it that this friend was her childhood friend and her best friend!

" What should we do now that we're in? " she said, whispering, not wanting to wake up whatever was in there.

Amelia noted after ending her tangent, that Peach had listened carefully throughout her whole time she spoke. That was something she really admired in her best friend, something not a lot of people realized Amelia even took notice of. The Ravenclaw would often go into rants and raves in her young know-it-all tone. Listing off fact after fact, the Lovell girl’s dialogue seemed never-ending. Peach never got impatient, though, never seemed disinterested. The Hufflepuff didn't space off, get distracted, none of it. She paid attention to all the details, or so it seemed, and valued whatever Amelia had to say, no matter how length-y it was.

Although the Raven had read quite a bit about ghosts and spirits and beings and how to ward them off, she admitted to herself feebly in her head that she wasn’t confident with the charms quite yet. Some of them were far past her level, and she had tried to focus on what she’d be studying that year, and not spells she’d need in case of adventures like these. If Peach was right, though, they wouldn’t have much to worry about since the spirits couldn’t harm them directly. Taking a deep breath, Amelia let the tension in her shoulders ease up as her eyes adjusted to darkness in the abandoned bathrooms.

Everything was only vague outlines before her Hufflepuff companion lit her torch up, pointing in a forward-like direction. Amelia saw the same sight as her friend, the graffiti to their left was immature and amateur. “I could deface something better than that.” Gesturing towards the nearest stall door with it’s indecipherable scribbles and broken handle. She let out a little nervous giggle at her own joke, trying to make light of a nerve-wracking situation. Taking another cautionary step forward, the first year stepped on a broken pipe with a yelp, almost losing her balance. Thankfully, she had ahold of Peach’s hand and it kept her robes dry for now.

Amelia’s dark gaze followed where Peach led the light, towards the mirrors stained red and shattered slightly. Peach turned to her with a slight smile and Amelia returned it bigger, though the Raven was just as nervous on the inside, she was sure. The inquiry that came nextt was one that Amelia had to ponder on. Giving the room another once-over, her confidence began to build more and more. That red stain on the mirrors? Probably a paint gag. The exploded toilets? Probably just students goofing off. A little laugh escaped again, this time sounding more carefree. Letting go of her friends hand, she took a few steps forward into the darker part of the room and put her hands on her hips in some sort of triumph-looking position. “There's nothing to even be scared of, how silly—

BANG!

A piece of rubble flew past Peach and right past Amelia’s head, and the Ravenclaw heard the whistle of air moving quickly by her ear. It smashed against the wall behind Amelia with an even louder noise than it’s take-off. Eyes wide, resisting the urge to drop her jaw in surprise, the pale girl pointed behind Peach, back towards the stalls where the item had been thrown at them. "Did you see…?” Of course her best friend had seen it, it had gone right by both of them. The brunette didn't see anything move, though, except the piece of rubble that flew by her head. Was it a ghost? A spirit they couldn't see? She felt rooted to her spot, staring at the stalls, wondering what their next move would be.

She heard the bang. She saw it fly past her head. She felt it against her ear. Her hair flew in all directions. She gripped her wand tight and couldn't help but let out a loud, strident scream. She dropped her light torch whose light slowly flickered out after the shock. They now were in complete darkness, only the sound of their rapid breathing as company. peach's body was shivering, maybe from the cold or maybe from the fear, who knew. She muttered a lumos and the tip of her wand quickly emmeted a soft blue light.

She slowly turned on herself to find out what had flew past them. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the sords written on the wall, in bright red, dripping onto the floor.

You have dared to adventure here and you will regret it. Beware!

Peach nearly dropped her wand and her eyes widenned. She read the words over and over again, knowing that they weren't alone. She looked over at her friend, terrified. She grabbed onto this one's hand, which seemed to comfort her slightly. Amelia had ths kind of ability to caml her best friend down with just a touch, a smile or a look. The dark haired girl pointed her wand to the mirror, where the words on the wall relfected. But they seemed different. They seemed scarier and more threatening, somehow. That's when the young girl decided to say something.

" Um...Hello? Is anyone else her- ". Her words were cut short when something was thrown at the mirror, breakig it into small particles that flew everywhere. It was like fine powder and the young girl covered her face with her free arm. The glass didn't hurt, and it was extremely strange that it was not harmful. She slowly uncovered her eyes and oh how surprised was she to find that the mirror was...Untouched.

Peach let out a scream first, and Amelia stayed hauntingly quiet. It was as if she was frozen to her spot, unable to move or make any noise. The few times she could remember experiencing this type of fear was exploring the wooded area outside her estate. Having to call her mother for help with creatures that were too much for her, annoying Imps and things of the like had given her this kind of fear before. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she wrinkled her freckled nose as the smell in the bathroom seemed to get more pungent.

The last thing Amelia saw before Peach’s light went out was a movement in the corner near the stalls, where she had seen the piece of rubble thrown. Everything was dark, and the Lovell girl’s eyes would not adjust right away. Amelia hated the dark, she couldn’t deal with it well. Her parents knew it was one of her childhood fears, but other people didn’t. A small whimper slipped past the girl’s lips as she gripped onto her wand ever tighter.

A ‘lumos’ was quickly cast and suddenly there was light, and no matter how little there was, it made the helpless feeling ease up inside her. The brunette cursed herself under her breath for not thinking quick enough like Peach had. In any other environment, she would have been able to think clearly. ‘Why did I ever think the Abandoned Bathrooms were a good idea?’ She thought to herself bitterly, regretting the idea because of the circumstances they were now in. Her train of thought was cut short when her dark gaze caught that of the dripping red words.

The look on her Hufflepuff companion’s face was one Amelia had never wanted to see—scared, just as scared as she was—and it made her blood run cold. The Ravenclaw squeezed her friends hand once in comfort as she forced herself to think. She closed her eyes in concentration, mulling over the facts that were in front of the pair. Suddenly, a shattering sound erupted around them after Peach spoke out, and Amelia reflexively ducked. The first year finally opened her eyes to find nothing broken around the two.

What the—“ The eleven year old couldn’t believe her ears or eyes. She did a 360, holding out her own wand to join Peach’s with a confident, “Lumos!” In the moment the Ravenclaw had had to think, she concluded something. Ghosts wouldn’t go after anyone at this level, but a Poltergeist would. “Peach…what do you know about Poltergeists?” The Pureblood was trying scrounge up any facts she’d collected in her brain over her years of reading about magical creatures, one of her favorite subjects.
The Mysterious Spirit RPG+ PV Peach Closed
Peach tried to scan through her brain all the information she knew about them. Her mother had explained vaguely what she knew on them and Peach had made some further research to expand her knowledge. Poltergeists were physical forms of spirits and they manifested in loud noises and moving objects. The extreme cases include throwing of objects on people and loud screams that could cause deafness. They weren't good things to be around and the young girl wondered why the heck were they here. She observed the room through the mirror, the message on the wall and the broken stalls. She took a couple of breathes in and reviewed in her memory the propulsing charm, in case something else flew close.

Some time passed, the room being quiet and Peach whispered whatever she knew about those said Poltergeists to Amelia. She stood on the defensive, her hand grasping her wand tightly. She was incredibly scared and she ones that her friend was too. The noise of feet walking on glass filled the room and Peach jumped in surprise. She pointed her wand to the ground, under the mirror and no glass was found. She then turned to the stalls and nothing there too. Peach walked slowly to the door, bringing her friend with her in case they had to leave abruptly. She was then back to the door when a piece of gravel bounced on this one.

"Who...Who's there?..." she said, her voice trembling. Her words resonated in the room and were given no answer else than a low laugh. It was too masculine to be coming from her friend and so Peach thought of another student, having the time of his life terrifying students. It wasn't very probable but Peach slightly held on to that idea, not wanting to fully admit to the fact that there was a joking spirit in the room with them.

Her attention was caught by a moving shape in the mirror, but when she turned around, she found nothing. The room was getting colder whilst the sun was shining proudly in the sky through the windows. It was still as dark as the night somehow, and that could hqve only been the do of some paranormal activity. Or a spell. She shivered when she fekt something go up her leg and she let out a shriek while she was shaking this one. She patted the area carefully but found no sign of anything there. She looked over to her friend, a faint sorry smile on her face.
