| xxxxx | Kahira honestly should have just ignored the boy who clearly didn't have enough manners to sip a goblet of water instead of clearing his throat in such a boorish manner around a lady, and unfortunately, now that she had actually acknowledged him, he seemed to think that had been an invite to strike up a conversation with the young redhead. She sighed, eyes still glued to the match, which had just properly kicked off in front of them. Of course, he did have some semblance of etiquette, though horribly misplaced - ma'am was quite obviously for women at least thrice her age, not for a young girl such as herself. There was no accent when he spoke, so obviously an incoming Hogwarts student such as herself, or at least thusly she assumed; hopefully, with any luck, she wouldn't be seeing him around the Slytherin commons come the first September. Kahira pursed her lips, still not glancing in his direction. "I shan't know why you would be here if not to be invested in the game," she muttered out of the corner of her mouth. "Or was it simply to make moody comments and brood about?" The words had hardly left her glossed lips when the action began to truly kick in, emphasis on the word kick; one of the Keepers' feet collided heavily with the Quaffle, sending it directly into an opposing Chaser, who was knocked headlong from her broom. Kahira gasped, the corners of her mouth already curling up at the sudden display of violence, even if there hadn't been any scores yet to speak of - but her true attention was upon the Beaters, the role she so desperately wished to play one day clad in emerald and silver. A redheaded Seeker found herself backbeated wildly hard by - "Is that the @Arjan Oberoi?!" - but then the famed dark-haired athlete, whose posters Kahira definitely didn't have up on her wall or anything, ended up toppling from his broom via a well-placed Bludger from the other team. Luckily, he was saved. The young girl whooped, unable to stop herself, despite the unladylike demeanour of it all. Yes, this was what Quidditch was all about! |

✰ As the two soon-to-be-first years answered her questions Diana listened. Neither of them had actually played Quidditch before (like her) although both seemed interested in trying it once they started Hogwarts (somewhat like her as she's almost in her second year). Those answers made sense to Diana. She had never played either and had mostly learned about the sport through books and conversations. Watching the match was making her already realize that there were some things that were much easier to understand when actually seeing it happen — which is a lot like magic, if you don't see how the professor demonstrates the spell, it won't be easy for you when you practice on your own. "I haven't played either," Diana admitted. "I've only really read about Quidditch. That's why I wanted to watch a match before deciding whether I actually wanted to join."
When Penelope mentioned watching an International Quidditch match with her family Diana glanced at her. "That must have been interesting. I've never seen an International match in person." The only match she's seen is this one and the occasional Ravenclaw match's when she would be wandering around the grounds on days when she had nothing to do.
As Aaron explained that he hadn't played yet either and was thinking about Quidditch or Broom Racing Diana returned her attention to him and she gave him a small nod. "I think Broom Racing sounds interesting too. I haven't seen a match yet, though. I want to watch one before I decide." She paused. "And I understand about Dueling. I'm interested in it, but I don't know if I'd want to join immediately either."
When Aaron asked about Hogwarts Diana became a little more thoughtful. She had been there for a whole year now but remembering her first few weeks still felt fairly easy. "The teachers are different, but I think most of them are pretty good. You'll probably have some lessons you like more than others." She paused briefly before continuing. "I think the biggest thing is not worrying about already knowing everything. There are a lot of things you'll learn once you're there." Before continuing Diana looked toward the pitch for a moment. "And the castle is confusing at first. It's really big and there are lots of corridors. I got lost a few times when I first started." A tiny smile appeared. "So I'd give yourself time to get used to everything. And make sure you know where your classrooms are before lessons start."
She was about to add something else when a sudden reaction from the crowd drew her attention back toward the pitch and Penelope's voice followed. "Did you see that?" "Yes!" Diana slightly leaned forward with her eyes fixed on the players. She had been paying close attention before but the match had suddenly become much harder to follow. One of the Chasers had been knocked off her broom, another player had been hit by the Quaffle, and now one of the Seekers had been taken out by a Bludger. Diana's eyes then moved toward the remaining Seeker. "That happened really quickly." She watched Arkady continue after the snitch and was trying to keep track of his movements. "I didn't realize the Seekers had to worry about the Bludgers that much." Her expression became thoughtful. "I knew they had to watch everything around them, but seeing it happen is different." For a moment she considered the fact that she had just said she wanted to be a Seeker. She still thought the position sounded interesting. If anything seeing how much attention the position required made her more curious about it.
Then she noticed something else. "Wait." Diana looked toward the hoops and then back at the rest of the pitch. "Is it still 0–0?" She genuinely looked surprised. "There's been so much happening and nobody has scored yet." She glanced between Aaron and Penelope before looking back toward the pitch. Another player was now being helped after falling from their broom while someone else had been sent off for a penalty lap. "There's a lot more to pay attention to than I thought."
For a moment Diana fell quiet and carefully watched as the match continued. She was beginning to understand why people could become so interested in Quidditch. It wasn't just about the Quaffle or Snitch. There were several things happening at once and missing even a few seconds could mean missing something important. She took another sip of her drink. "I think I'm going to need to watch a few more matches before I make my decision." As she looked toward the pitch again a small smile appeared. "But I'm still leaning toward Seeker." ✰

Spectating was statsifying than it was supposed to for the slytherin and she couldn't help but marvel at the quick movements and whooshes of the modern brooms that each team had. Nebula Drift seemed to have caught her eye but she hadn't put a finger as to why, perhaps it was the familiarity with the current lineup of members for said team. Koko Riddle's save was impressive though it might have been even less so if she was keen on the Quidditch sport however she was a Duelling fanatic instead, her father seemed to disapprove with her choosing an easy sport. Angel only shook her head with the consensus between her family, even her stoic mother reacted with more candidness with her choice albeit she had to admit they had a point, regardless the swan wanted to stay loyal to her duelling, considering she got accepted to the Slytherin duelling team.
One Quidditch player had went through her mind, Cecilia Merrick. The Slytherin quidditch captain who she, too had to admit was quite engrossed in the sport like the audience surrounding the bustling arena considering their previous interactions in detention back at June. Angel was to intruidged with how the sport worked and it's rules.
Whilst she watched and her gaze switched and shifted left and right she was beginning to feel like the pace was vertiginous. Angel confirmed Quidditch was taxing and required focus and tact but that was generous considering the fact she never even participated in one but she had a vague idea of how the sport can be lethal at times.
A brunette boy who excused himself to be alongside her to spectate the game seemed too excited about the match and more so for the team she was keeping an eye on. He made a comment about the moves and actions the team made especially for Koko Riddle the Keeper for Nebula Drift. She couldn't help but ask if he was himself a Quidditch player.
"Excuse me? You seem a bit keen on Quidditch? I don't want to assume but you look like a Quidditch player yourself. I'm just curious as to how the whole thing works, considering I'm a Duellist the mechanics would be vastly different for sure!" she remarked
"Forgive me, I'm Angel Dayes. Didn't mean to forget to introduce myself much less start off with a question." she laugh calmly

Jack was not fond of Quidditch. He was not fond of a game where iron balls causing head injuries and cheating were considered typical. However, as a news aide, he had stories to write about and that included a story on the Hogwarts Alumni Quidditch Game that was happening over the 2026 summer on August 21st. He had taken special pains to plan ahead for travelling and accommodations to stay with his friend Kit who had a place in Hogsmeade just then. From there, he could easily go to Hogwarts to watch the game and then spend another night at Kit's before heading back to Wales where he shared an apartment with old dormmates of his. Little did he know that a couple of said dormmates had decided to head to Scotland and make accommodations to watch the very same game as well.
Since he had been planning to go on the trip for work rather than leisure, Jack hadn't invited his roommates along. He hadn't wanted to get distracted from his work and Hanako and Percival were two huge distractions he really didn't think he could afford to have along on his trip. Since Hanako worked nights and slept during the day, too, Jack didn't think the quidditch match would have been a good idea for him to try to see, especially because he doubted the Japanese alumnus was any more interested in the sport than he was. And Percival was hiding from his family or something, so why would he have wanted to potentially be spotted among a crowd of other alumni or recognized by former schoolmates? No, it was definitely best that Jack go alone.
Well, more or less alone. Though he was staying with Kit, he had asked Kit if he could sit somewhere else among the spectators so he wouldn't be a distraction to Jack, either. Kit had been fine with that, so the Welsh redhead had found his own place among the stands next to no one he knew. At least...that was what he had thought.
It was intriguing to note that some of the alumni participating in that game of quidditch had not been part of official quidditch teams during their time at Hogwarts; at least not that he knew. Jack wondered how they would fare. He brought out his notepad and enchanted quill to take notes while he watched the game. Everything seemed to be going just fine...at least until he heard what he thought might have been his name spoken by an unfamiliar feminine voice a little higher up in the stands to his right.
"Burnett was part of the team for a while too didn't he? I remember at some point weren't there about 4 severus snape kids on the quidditch team?"
Huh? Who was that lady? Jack didn't recognize her despite the fact that she seemed to be around his age. The blonde young lady she was speaking to didn't seem very familiar, either. But then, something about the way the first woman moved or spoke and the flirtatious look in her honey brown eyes seemed familiar. Jack's expression turned slightly uneasy. No. It couldn't be.
He checked the location of those with his binding mark. Apparently it could. And was.
What in Merlin's beard was Hanako doing there? And who the hell was he talking to? Someone else from the Severus Snape Dorms, no doubt...Percival, perhaps?
The young man's expression went from slightly uneasy to distinctly unsettled. He turned back to try to watch the game, but his attention had already been caught up elsewhere. He disliked quidditch enough that almost anything else was bound to distract him which was why he had even gone so far as to ask Kit to sit elsewhere. So why did Hanako and Percival have to come there and do something like this? If they'd wanted to watch the game, the least they could have done was be more discreet about it, like be careful who they were talking about. Didn't Hanako know where he was? Unless...had he come to sit near him and mention his name on purpose?!

21 August
On the night of September 20th, it was a 3.
Like a lost ant, he was just following where the colony was going. Wait- was there even a concept of lost ants? Well - regardless, that was how he felt since probably the first time he took a breath in this confusing planet. He was not yet so interested in the previous games that were held specifically for the youths. After walking around stands and picking up conversations here and there, he realized that he was in what was an Alumni event- where old people play. Because they couldn't let go of the chance to be recognized for their skill. Not that Demo didn't understand. In fact it was a little too difficult to understand anything going on. He had to press his hands on his ears just to sound out some shrieking white lady. Fearing the next time his his eardrums were threatened, he took off the jacket that usually was tied around his waist, to tie around his head awkwardly in some make-up head cape.
It also solved the issue of increased temperatures due to the humidity in the air. Darn-it- such weakling observations, to be effected by something as natural as the sun. Robots didn't have to deal with weather all that much! Especially if they were made to withstand it! He wouldn't have been drawn to the crowd forming if he was a robot and he didn't have to feel the trickle of empty fuel in his gut area if he was a robot and-

He rubbed his forehead from the soft unexpected impact, thinking he hit some warm clothed meaty pole. Which he realized after looking up to the strange human- he did. It took a bit of blank staring at the man before Demo blurted out. " BLUE " he raised his arms to point to the man's face. " Youre so friggin blue!".

Jeremy sighed loudly and slumped forward, putting his face in his hands. He'd been doing that for a few minutes now, even though there was nobody to listen to him or care.
Why was Quidditch so boring?
Jeremy hated Quidditch, and hated watching Quidditch. Jeremy's family loved Quidditch, and loved to take him to games, whether he wanted to be there or not. Every time they made him go, he hated Quidditch a little bit more. He usually tried to read a book during the games, but sometimes he wasn't allowed, and had to watch everybody fly around throwing balls back and forth until mercifully somebody caught the Snitch and they could finally go home. The best game he'd ever seen had ended in a miraculous snitch catch around one minute in. He didn't even remember who won, but at least it was short.
The Hogwarts alumni were not so good at catching the snitch, because this game was still going on and on and on (or at least that's how it felt to Jeremy). Jeremy had thought that there were gonna be merit points for coming. He didn't know what the merit points were for, but he really wanted their cabin to win so he could find out. It was only once he got here that he realized that there WERE no merit points for this at all, and so he had come for no reason, and now he was stuck here until it ended.
It wasn't long until Jeremy was looking for just about anything else to look at, and that was when he noticed the young adult next to him, who had a pad in front of him, though the quill was writing on its own. The older boy didn't look a lot older than those playing Quidditch - kind of like his sister's age - and a closer look at his pad seemed to prove that hypothesis correct, because he was writing about the players in the game, including the ones he went to school with, and also writing about what they were doing in the game.
It wasn't really polite to read over somebody's shoulder, but also, Jeremy was really, really bored.
And so @Jack Burnett would soon hear the voice of a curious eleven-year-old, one who had been sitting next to him and had turned to sit sideways on the bench, paying more attention to the older boy than to the game (but the older boy didn't seem to be paying very much attention to the game anyway - maybe he didn't like Quidditch very much either, it was a dreadfully boring sport).
"Whatcha writing?" Jeremy asked. "How come you're writing down everybody's name, and what they're doing? Do you want to be a Quidditch player and you wanna learn something from them so you can be on the team one day? Or are you maybe a rival Quidditch player that's trying to scope out the best strategies to fight their team? Like a Quidditch spy?" @Josephine Byrne would be pleased.
He leaned over and pointed at the notepad. "Are you sure that's how you spell that? I read a book about a lady named Evelyn and it only had one 'n'. Jeremy pointed out helpfully.
It was also rude to correct random people's spelling, and a little bit rude to talk to strangers who seemed busy, but again...Jeremy was really bored. Surely some of the rules could be bent if you were going to die of boredom.

(Interacting with @Alfie Owen)
If Jo had been devoting her full attention to the game, she would've quickly found out that her earlier fears had been quite unfounded and they were in for an exciting match, with plenty of action and violence. But instead, her gaze had been glued to Alfie for the best part of several minutes, watching him react to the action on the pitch. It was not the least bit subtle, but she couldn't help it.
His initial response to her question, of who he thought was going to win the game, had been a reasonable one, not conceding any ignorance that didn't already make sense; if nothing else, one of the beaters for the Abraxans definitely looked like he could do some damage with a bat,, with arms that might've been thicker than Jo's own head, making his pick a good one. It was the way Alfie behaved after the initial whistle that confirmed everything Jo had suspected about him and Quidditch, and then some.
She had expected someone who wasn't a fan of Quidditch, who'd never heard of a Wronski Feint or cobbing, or wouldn't know which of the League teams were doing well this season. She hadn't expected someone whose ignorance of Quidditch was so profound they acted like perfectly normal beaters were going around murdering the opposition and shouting nonsensical muggle terms. It was clear that Alfie hadn't so much as heard Quidditch described before. And that wasn't even the weirdest bit. She'd thought it had been a trick of the light when she'd caught him looking a little green at Jeremy's fact booth, but the degree to which his face had been changing hues from normal to red to pale as a ghost again as he'd been watching could not be explained by lighting or the working of a normal human body. No person could do that without the help of magic.
Alfie had been holding out on them. Big-time.
"Of course they survived." It had taken a second for Jo to catch on to the fact that Alfie had even asked her a question, busy, as she had been, staring at him with narrowed eyes and a mouth that was slightly open. She answered almost reflexively, trying to give her brain time to figure out how she even wanted to tackle this conversation.
"It's just Quidditch, it's just--" She shook her head in disbelief. That she was trying to explain to Alfie that four people wouldn't have been killed in an amateur Quidditch match was so silly that that she almost laughed. The irritation that she had felt with him when he'd downplayed her Gwenog Jones fact and his ensuing Quidditch fan affecation had almost completely evaporated, replaced by the smug glee of someone who's just been proven right, in the best possible way.
"Why didn't you just say you were muggleborn? I can't believe you just kept going on about the Harpies." Jo didn't know very much about muggle football, but she had seen her muggle cousins watch it on that telly thing a few times. She'd heard them mention all kinds of cards. It didn't take a genius to make the leap that if Alfie was calling for them in a Quidditch match, he must be new to the wizarding world. Except, of course, maybe he couldn't be? She frowned at him. "Or, well, something like that, because I don't think muggles can be metamorphmagi. Can they?" She paused, probing at him with her gaze. There were all kinds of intriguing reasons Jo could come up for a wizarding kid to be raised by muggles. Maybe Alfie was an orphan of some kind, set on discovering the identities of his long lost wizarding parents. Or the child of a love affair gone wrong. Whatever the case, Jo was going to find out.

| C | 𝕴t was starting to feel very much like the biblical version of hell for the little Italian. Was everyone suffering as much as her? Or was it just her I-Only-Like-Winter mindset that rendered it impossible for her to deal with the heat? Whatever the reason is - it was undeniably and unbearably hot. Isn't there a cooler or something? Filled with Ice cream? She groaned internally and immediately regretted it. He'd never be able to watch a Quidditch match ever again. And here she stood complaining about the weather. She sighed, closed her eyes, rubbed her temples and after stay very still for a minute relaxed her shoulders. She came here today for him. And she will enjoy it for him too. Well as far as she can get with enjoying without cringing. She tried to find a good spot and sat next to Robin, her cabin mate and fellow Ravenclaw. Soon Professor Weems loudly extended his warm welcome and greetings to the crowd and the players. Soon after a lot of wandering of her eyes it zeroes on Professor Kitty giving out snacks. In pure relief and bliss, Marcella gracefully walked over and accepted a pink colour ice cream that tasted like bubblegum. Surprisingly the child of darkness enjoyed such a bright flavour. She loved Quidditch but not as much as she loves Duelling. But either way the prospect of Quidditch excited her. She sat very eager for the match to begin. She noticed that her neighbour seemed very..disinterested. A quiet laugh escaped her. "Not much in to Quidditch are you?" she asked with a soft smile on her face. Robin and her weren't close at all and she doubted they were even friends. But that doesn't mean that they would never be friends. Its simply that they haven't interacted properly yet. "ok, so what team do you support? I support the Battling Abraxans because well they seem to have some neat teamwork. Though I should say since the Nebula Drift has the best of bests they have a good prospect of winning too. I wouldn't put it past Koko to not save every goal that comes her way," she chuckled. "She's a great keeper." "So if its not Quidditch, what else? Duelling?" her eyes sparkled as she questioned him. Nothing made her eyes twinkle and sparkle the way Duelling did. Well there was her muse...SPORTS! Yes, they were talking about sports. Stop thinking about her you stupid twelve year old! And Holy damn- Who is that? Her eyes had zeroed in on the handsome headmaster of Castelobruxo. She chuckled as the feeling of life got to her again. She relaxed back on to her seat as the game begun. She licked her ice cream and smiled as the flavour engulfed her sense. It was a very refreshing taste. The teams started to socialize and get friendly with one another. It was a beautiful sight to see. She wished she was out there flying on a broom, the wind tangling in her hair and the adrenaline filling her veins. She couldn't wait to play Quidditch again. |

𝕽obin was a bit startled when Marcella started a conversation with him. He only knew her by name from the cabin roster and brief introductions, and she was not exactly talkative—not that he was himself—when they first moved in. The girl seemed reserved and struggled to smile, which was something Robin could completely empathize with. He occasionally wondered if he actually had a problem with his facial muscles, or if it was another mental abnormality like his asocial tendencies.
The Ravenclaw boy nodded at his peer's inquiry, "Not really." He adjusted his glasses with one hand while holding his half-finished popsicle in the other. Robin considered explaining further, about the misunderstanding that this was a dueling match and that he only stayed here out of awkwardness and a slight urge to support his current favorite duelist, then pushed the thought away since it was not at all necessary. He should socialize more like his mom asked, actively, but the noises around him are just too overwhelming. Shouts and cheers and cross-talk like his and Marcella's flow in and out of his auditory canal like racing boats. Other senses also contributed to his discomfort; the heat of course, the sweat, and the smell of sweat and food mixed together.
Robin's frown was neutralized by the girl's next question about which team he supported. She went on a passionate explanation of why she supported the Battling Abraxans, but also acknowledged the other team's chances, something to do with a single player named 'Koko'. The boy wasn't sure if that was her legal name or a name fans came up with, it could be either.
"Well . . . " Robin squinted at the two teams, trying to make out each player and the colors they wore. After confirming his memory, he nodded to himself and answered with some certainty: "Also the Battling Abraxans." Shuffling his feet around, Robin finally decided to add a line amidst the momentary silence between them. "I don't know much about Quidditch, and to be honest I was here . . . um . . . by accident? I am a fan—kind of—of Ms. Collins though."
The boy nodded again. Maybe he would develop a disgusting amount of neck muscles after graduating Hogwarts, or before that, but he hoped not. "Yeah, I enjoy dueling. Watching or participating. Strategizing the sequence and combination of spells is very interesting to me, it's like writing an essay with magic." He idly played with his ponytail after saying that. It was probably too obscure of a simile. Who compares academics with sports like that? Still, Robin said what he said and made not effort to backtrack it. It was true. For him, anyway.
