Mind My Own Business
____She never thought nor even dare to claimed to be a social person or such. She doesn't really care if her presence will be such a comfort to others either. However, when Millie heard Nicole's little request for assistant to get back together she said so hesitantly, she couldn't find a word to describe if she actually have a soft spot toward her underclassman or it was merely because it's already getting darker she just don't want to be responsible if this first-year got lost and she was being the last person who was with Nicole. Absolutely not. She may not that care, but she's not that mean and heartless.
____"Sure," she then said that, checking once more for Mr. Hobkin if he's still inside her sweater pocket so nothing left out. For a second thought, Millie pulled her wand back out and cast Lumos to light their way back since Nicole said her agitation of the surrounding being dark. "Let's go then."
____"So why you go out in the first place if you're scared of dark and to be alone?"
____Do not blame her. The only problem Millie couldn't held back from her own is just her curiosity, to the point she didn't realized she asked that question out of her mouth and not just in her mind. Once she realized that little rudeness of hers, she quickly clamped her lips together. Eyes warily glanced at the girl walking beside her. "Uh, forget it. You don't need to answer if you don't like to. Really." Even so she said that, Millie couldn't help but utter another words, "But if you like, I can be a good listener."

Mind My Own Business

Okay. Straight to interrogation then. Nicole didn’t mind it though. Questioning or not, curiosity or not, it was one way to kill the awkward silence that she was sure that it most definitely would’ve taken place between them. She stuffed her hands in the pockets of her coat. The warmth which came from them was instantaneous. She couldn’t see herself but she was sure that the colour came into her cheeks. Nicole pondered over Millie’s question. She could most definitely lie through her teeth; the other girl wouldn’t notice. Or she could be truthful.
Honesty was the best policy, right?
“The Sorting Ceremony was a bit. . . overcrowded,” Nicole said with caution. She chose her words with utmost care as though she was speaking to a bloody President. Although, overcrowded was a mild word. Stifling would be the one she’d have chosen if Millie was a person she knew all her life instead of spending like 10 minutes with her, give or take a few. “I’m not really a fan of big crowds and overly enthusiastic 11-year old kids.” She admitted as they walked further. This was her truth in its barest form, and she wouldn’t be surprised if Millie judged her.
To be even more honest, her parents weren’t the most lively-est bunch. Sure, they’d have a couple of friends over but that was it. Not too social. Her only relative she knew was her aunt, and even she was distant. But it was alright by Nicole. As long as she had her books, her Scrabble board game and her parents, she could easily adjust. And maybe a weird friend in the neighbourhood. The howling became more faraway, like listening to it through water. That was a big relief. “What about you, though? Why are you here?” Nicole asked. She wasn’t snoopy or nosy but still, gathering information was a nice habit. Right?

____Overcrowded. Millie may not argue with that, but she thought that was still an understatement, because rather than overcrowded, Sorting Ceremony in her opinion was overwhelming. Not only there were too many eyes watching, some judgingly, there was also a super magical hat that can't only speak but also assessing and deciding new students to their match houses with their own traits. To muggle-born like her, Millie didn't even expected if that was Hogwarts' way to arranged their students since in her old school the arrangement was simpler and absolutely doesn't have a magical hat like in Hogwarts.
____But well, while in here, Millie, Nicole, and other muggle-born students supposedly must adapted to this new magical environment. Makes it their own second habitat besides their born 'muggle' world. Millie softly scoffed under her breath.
____"Ah, yes, I feel you," she said. "I'm far from being an extrovert either. Bet I can count people who I consider a friend with only using my fingers."
____When she heard Nicole threw the same question to her, as predicted as ever, Millie could only snickered. She was glad Nicole asked that. "Me? You can say this vast ground is my favourite spot."
____The girl wonders her eyes to the field, watchfully careful but in the same time full of admiration and also appreciation. "I loves be in the nature, feels like home. You may find it strange because of your fear of darkness and it still a new place for you, but come again in the sunny morning day and you can see it for yourself."

made by the most awesome person, Millie Ann
That was a relief. At least the other girl didn't judge her from running away as soon as the Sorting Ceremony ended. Unlike some people who were throwing nasty stares in her direction as well as the ghosts who warned her against it. In fact, she almost related to it? Or was it sympathy? Nicole couldn't quite read the other girl. Maybe it was because she kept her cards close to herself. She didn't pressure her, though. Nicole listened. Her mind listening to every word carefully, as though someone might take a test of the exact words spoken by Millie in the forest at that time at that very eventful day.
Nicole laughed when Millie talked about handful of friends. That was also understood perfectly by the blonde. "Me too," she sighed, kicking up a bit of dirt and scuffing up her sneakers before adding, "except I don't think so they are even a hanful. I guess there are only 2-3 of my friends." She didn't sound condenscing or did she wallow in self-pity. Nicole accepted the statement.
She followed the other girl's eyes. Nicole frowned a bit, contemplating if this forest would ever feel like home to a girl who was too used to the bustling streets, the nosy roads. "I might come again in the morning," she started softly, looking straight ahead as the moonlight guided her path. She was careful not to stumble on any gnarled roots of the trees. "if I have some company." She didn't look at the other girl while saying that.

____Millie stifled her laugh upon hearing that. It's too obvious that Nicole still need someone to come with her even if she go back here in the bright morning or even blazing summer. Even so, Millie said nothing to asking the younger girl to confirmed what was she just said. Poor Nicole. Although her lure is visible enough, Millie still not satisfied to just approached that and gobbled it up. However, the older girl opened her mouth said, "I'm sure you will meet some. Like, everywhere. Great Hall, corridor, even after class if you have any luck."
____She said nothing more after that, barely contained her expression as flat as ever. Not sure why Millie said that long-winded riddle to teased this first-year rather than to-the-pointly said she can find her almost everywhere, again, if she have any luck in her pocket to do that. She peeked a glanced to aside, checking if she have a clue or not about what she just said. For now, she just need to makes sure she and Nicole can go back to the castle safely.
____"Also," she added, "You really should consider to mingled with another people, maybe like someone you met in your common room. We're not in the same house, right, because I've just seen you now here." That actually laughable to said out off her mouth because Millie herself not exactly talked much to anybody she met in her common room. Hypocrite as she is, just glad Nicole would never have a proof to see that right.
