"The staff table is at the front, where the entire Hogwarts staff sits. There is a throne-like chair in the centre of the table where the current Headmaster or Headmistress sits. The ceiling of the Great Hall is covered with candles and it is enchanted to look like the sky above. To the left of the table is a door which leads to a chamber with portraits.

There are small windows around the side of the hall, and a large window behind the staff table where the light shines through, and a podium carved with an owl is put right in front of the Headteacher's chair, where they make their announcements.
During the Hallowe'en feast, the hall is festooned with sweets-filled pumpkins, bats, orange streamers, water snakes and many other Hallowe'en-related decorations. At Christmas, before and during the holidays, twelve large Christmas trees are placed around the room." 1

This year was a bit different than the previous years. Yes, the Professor's table was still in use but there was often a seat or two vacant at most meals. There was more caution being employed by some, over the past year the Professors had contended with a number of dangerous threats that went well beyond the scope of a school of magic.
The Headmaster was for the most part there. A quiet figure-head perhaps. Speeches were more commonly done by one of the Heads of House. He was the first there and the last to leave. The Professors were keeping secrets as well, a desire to maintain the peace. Fear that the dissemination of what they did know would prove to be dangerous. A lack of knowledge in some cases, information being the most valuable commodity. Discussions in plain sight, sometimes the best place to hide.
This is a thread for Professors to enter and leave - drop off information as a group. The thread a copy-paste from the original as well the a copy of the follow-up from the previous year.
