A letter from the folks.
Reed walked into the Owlery being told by another ravenclaw that there was a letter for him. At first he didn't have a clue who it was from, but he soon realized his parents must have had access to an owl, considering they were wizards this entire time. It's still hard to believe, isn't it? You spend 10 years of a normal life just to find out your parents are both powerful wizards, and now poof. Life changed.
He couldn't really complain. He gets to read about magic, and creatures, and potions. Things in his fantasy books but this time it's all true. It all still seemed so strange. Reed was soon brought out of thought by a letter falling into his hands, and a blur of an owl leaving above him. Inside was a note that read...
Son, I'm proud of you. You didn't fight, and try to stay home like we both thought you would, but instead you're facing such mystery head on alone...well, I'm sure you have friends by now, but that's beside the point. I also heard from a little bird(Owl) that you got placed into Ravenclaw! Seeing you reading, and studying all the time, that doesn't leave me surprised. You see, I was a Slytherin myself! Yeah, I had a little dueling club with roughly 10 people back then, and we almost made it big before I met your mother. Man, if you've never felt whiplash imagine how hard she ripped me away from my hobbies. My neck still hurts...In any case, good luck with studies, and I found some old photos of my old self. Your mother should also have a letter here.
Love ya, bookworm~ Dad
Inside the envelope was another letter closed, and still crisp. It was pretty thick, and it showed why when Reed opened it to reveal a stack of photos. He read the letter.
Hey Sweetheart! I'm sure your father already got to all the sentimental stuff about us being so proud of you for standing up and leaving home, so I'm only here to be the bearer of uhm....news. Not bad news, but not really good. You see, now that you know about the magical world me, and your father are wanting to go back to a magical lifestyle. We've looked into moving, and we'll keep you caught up.
Also, grats on getting into Gryf Ravenclaw! I was a Gryfindor myself, and was a pretty great seeker in quiditch. Inside are all of my photos (and the ones your father forgot to include) of my games!
Love you bunches, Reedy poo~ Mom
Reed smiled at the letters, and tucked them away into his pocket. Looking over all the pictures of his mom catching the golden snitch twice (in her entire school career no doubt) and his father blasting magic out of his wand. This inspired him to move forward. To become an even better wizard than the both of them put together to make them proud.
Reed then wrote a letter back using a bottle of ink he brought and a quill, and cursed himself. "Oh bloody hell I lost the lid to the ink." He said. He shrugged, since he had another empty bottle at the dorms he could use. He turned around and bumped into a random student, spilling the ink all over their robes. Reed quickly panicked and held up his hands. "Oh god I am SO sorry! I can pay for a new one!" He insisted.

A letter from the folks.
The short red-headed girl had headed up to the Owlery hoping to send a letter to her father. She knew there was a very, very slim chance her father was going to respond. He wasn't going to take too well to an owl flying through the roof of whatever house he was living in now. Sighing, Eris hopped up the last few steps to the Owlery, panting from the effort of moving her small body up the stairs. Honestly, Eris was pretty sure that Hogwarts was invented as a trap for short people. With all the tall stairs and endless staircases, Eris was always tired and always late. She just couldn't move as fast as taller people, and it was horrible for the slightly red-head, considering most of her closest friends were huge.
Eris was so lost in thoughts of the injustice of taller people and fear of her father not getting her letter that she hadn't noticed when she bumped into a boy. She blinked twice to clear her thoughts, only to suddenly have what seemed to be a rainstorm of ink pour onto her robes. Eris muttered a string of curses that a 11 year old probably shouldn't of known--but of course, living on the streets teaches one to react fast and many curses.
"Watch where you're going!" Eris said loudly, looking down at her robes with an expression of disgust. She calmed at the boy's earnest apologies , so instead of screaming, Eris simply shrugged. "I don't need you to pay for new robes. We're wizards after all. I assume somebody can fix my robes." That person was not Eris. She looked at the letter in her hand, unsurprised to see it covered in ink as well. It was just her luck to have her letter to her father ruined before she could send it. Then again, maybe it was good luck. She had been dreading sending the letter.
Eris looked up to the Ravenclaw prefect, frowning ever-so-slightly. What was the ravenclaw prefect doing up in the Owlery when he should of been patrolling anyways?

Reed nodded, and let out a sigh of relief. "That's good to hear. I always forget that magic can fix just about anything I'm used to..." he said, seeing a bit more ink on the floor. He got on one knee and used his old shirt sleeve to clean up the ink. It was getting too small anyways, and he had way more.
The prefect looked at the readhead once more, and shrugged. "Well I'm still sorry. I just heard there was a letter for me, and I ended up losing the lid to my ink. I can make it up to you...I can help you with homework some time!" He said with a finger pointed to the ceiling. "Or maybe I could convince the kitchen staff to make something you want...not sure if I can go that far, though." At this point he would keep going unless he stopped himself. "for now, I need to get back to my patrols. If you need anything at all, I owe you one! The name's Reed Alexander Wesley. Just appointed prefect today." He says before walking off to the western tower to start his patrol...And of course he forgets his half spilled bottle of ink, and quill on a desk. Lovely.

Eris stared at the boy, than at her robes with an expression of dismay, as she watched him get to his knees and clean the floor with his robes. Wouldn't that just make the stain bigger if he spread it around? Eris shrugged, watching the stain on the floor be rubbed into the stone tiles of the owlery. It was hard to see on the stone, so Eris didn't say anything. She would have to find somebody to clean her robes for her, as Eris was now certain the boy couldn't do it, if he couldn't clean the floor with magic. She sighed again, smiling politely as the boy started to ramble on and on. Why did he assume she needed help with homework? Eris was doing perfectly fine in her classes so far. Perhaps it was because she was a gyffindor and he was a ravenclaw. He might of thought he was smarter, but Eris knew for a fact that not all ravenclaws were smarter than her. She had, inadvertently broken into the ravenclaw common room once and met some other first year ravenclaws, and she was most definitely smarter than her dear friends in ravenclaw when it came to some things.
"Uh, goodbye?" Eris said, as before she could say goodbye or introduce herself to the strange ravenclaw prefect, he had ran off. Eris groaned, turning back to the school owls. Maybe she could still send her letter. Eris was about to pick an owl, when she found herself staring at the ink he had left behind. With an annoyed expression, she gathered the ink and quill and ran after the boy. "Hey! You left your stuff behind." Idiot . Eris said, jogging in the general direction of where she thought he had ran too.

Reed stopped when hearing the same girl as before. He stopped, and turned around seeing the read head carrying his half-empty ink bottle and quill. The prefect groaned, realizing he forgot them and turned around on his heel. He tapped his foot, and looked down waiting on the other first year to catch up. "Uhm....yeah. thanks. sorry. I've already caused so much trouble for you and I feel terrible!" he babbled in a single breath, brushing his hair to the side of his face to keep it out of his eyes. He then spoke up again saying, "You probably have your own things to get to, and I just keep causing trouble..." he then went into a grumble to himself saying, "How the hell I got to be a prefect it beyond me...."
The Ravenclaw took the bottle and held it to his side, and held out his free hand. He felt like garbage for causing so much trouble to this one random person, so he wanted to make things right at some point. "Well I might as well introduce myself now that I owe you two. The name's Reed Alexander Wesley." He says with a smile, almost big enough to make the bandage on his cheek pop off.

Eris's annoyance faded once again, as she studied the boy. He seemed anxious and quite busy, so she offered him a smile. She knew what it was like to be busy and forgetful. Carefully, she handed over the quill and ink.
"I'm Eris Elcan." The short girl said, with another timid little smile. "As for causing trouble for me, don't worry. If this was the worse trouble I'd ever suffered in my life, than I would be quite a wuss, I fear." Eris said, laughing slightly. She had had clothes much more dirty than these ink stained robes. Living on the streets, even for as little a time as Eris had, had made the young girl decide not to care about grime or dirty things in the slightest.
Eris had to agree. She had no idea why she was a prefect. It was completely over her head. The girl laughed again, "I honestly have no bloody idea why either of us are prefects." She said, smile turning into a grin. The boy didn't seem that annoying anymore. Not that Eris was going to spend too long talking to him. She didn't want to get cooties, or anything gross from talking to boys for long. The only boys who didn't give cooties were her close friends Adam and Keagen, and still, she didn't ever get too close to them. Eris didn't dare risk it.

Reed was never a social butterfly, as anyone could imagine but he doesn't really cared about "cooties" or things like that. Back when he was 5-6 he did, but his parents simply talked to him about how it's a silly, illogical thing to worry about.
The Ravenclaw prefect awkwardly put his open hand back down, cringing at himself for being left in the open after trying to get a handshake The black-haired boy then checked his stop watch for the time, and grit his teeth. "Alright, I gotta go. It was nice to meet ya Eris! I'll probably see you around some time, seeing we're both the new prefects on the block."
The young boy thought for a moment before snapping his fingers. "Oh. if you need me, I'm normally in the Library every Tuesday after my charms classes. If I'm not there, I'm probably in the Ravenclaw dorms, so just find a random house mate of mine and have them grab me." He suggested. "But chances are you'll be busy most of the time with those Gryffindors. There are a lot of us claws, but you guys seem to be the ones who cause the most trouble...the pranksters, jocks, and such." He said with a small laugh. "Well before I get back to rambling, I'm heading off. Was nice! So sorry for the robes!" And walked off to patrol the west tower.
