When he first heard about the wilderness event, Harvey was understandably nervous. Before he left the states during the summer he had never even left the country. Traveling abroad was expensive, and he never bothered with it during his year at Ilvermorny. But he had traveled to Russia, then to Scotland, and then traveled once again to settle in at Durmstrang. And now he was to cross half the world as if it were nothing? Worrisome. But he hoped at least that the heat would remind him of home, even if the humidity was completely different.

Travel by portkey had gone alright. At least he had not vomited like he did the first time he used one. He squinted against the sun, trying to get his feet to remain underneath him. The heat was nothing like home. He could tell that clearly from moment one. It wasn’t that it was too warm, though he would start complaining about it sooner or later. The heat was simply too intense. As if the sun was on half power everywhere else, but truly cranked it up here. He decided quickly to not like it.

They were quickly gathered to watch a demonstration of some sort. Harvey went willingly enough, though he paid little attention. Then they were set to work, trying to set up a tent of their own. He narrowed his eyes at the group he had landed with. Prince Charming seemed to take the lead, ordering Butler and Spreadsheet to work together. Harvey slung back, trying to look busy while doing as little as possible.

He scowled at the nickname he was called, but tried to cover it up quickly. He had done an exellent job at keeping that a secret the whole two/three weeks he had been at school. So of course that idiot had to come and ruin it. He turned on his heel, looking straight at Kull. «Hey Snowflake, how if you grab that end of the tarp? Then can I just not grab the other» He suggested innocently, a smirk growing on his face. His Russian was no good, with quite a few mixups and the southern drawl being almost more pronounced than when he spoke his mother tongue. He then picked up the smallest stump of rope he could easily see, and threw it at Raphael, the last boy he didn’t know who was. «Catch!» He switched to English, hoping that at least someone besides the one girl spoke it well enough to be understood.

Malus had had a bad feeling ever since her friend Irene had coaxed her into joining. She knew a few of them before, maybe talked to them once before or seen them around school, but aside from that they were all completly new people. In addition to the fact that she knew none of them, her owl had been sleeping for the entirety of the week, so she only got the last few owls and had to scribble quick notes so she knew at least when and where to apparate.

The moist air licked her cheeks as she stood akwardly with the rest of her tent members trying to remember their names. The one who is clueless is probobly Xio. And the one who knew a lot about camping because she was a half-blood, her name was Bella? And of course she knew Nessa, she had seen her around school a lot. She stood there trying to decide whether she should help or..... Because she COULD do it. She had spent a lot of time training because her parents wanted her to be better than every other child. Not only were they ambitious for themselves but also their children. And of course she could asemble a tent! She had paid quite a bit of attention and there would be others to help so it should be a piece of cake.

She made her way to her group members

Kullervo had been standing off to the side with his hands behind his back and nose in the air, glaring at the tent supplies with a certain disdain he often reserved for his paints when they offended him by behaving disorderly on the canvas. Except he always corrected and refined the mistakes into something deliberate. Here, he had no intention to even touch any of the supplies, not even if it was expected of him. Just because his mother insisted he participated in school events did not mean that spending a week sweating in the wilderness with a bunch of insolent curs was appropriate use of his time.

If his father were still around to see it, he'd have been disowned for acting like a filthy muggle. Much less, spoken to like one by said insolent curs he very unfortunately shared a space with. Drama Queen, Magnus called him. Kullervo 'hmph'd.

"Are you quite finished, Ring-Rat?" He asked Magnus, absentmindedly tracing over the signet ring in his pocket that he almost lost to the little criminal across from him. "I was beginning to believe you intended to carry the entire thing yourself like a simple, primitive creature without the ability to think, only to sling around uninventive insults like a child. How admirable. I'm sure your parents are proud of you."

Kullervo concluded his sarcastic comment with a suitable scoff and eye roll, entirely unimpressed, before his sharp features pressed into a frown when directed at the tarp Harvey was referring to.

"And you." Kullervo added, directly that searing gaze of his towards Harvey. "If you're going to be useless, do it quietly, like a good Pup. Although, pups are meant to be endearing. You're more like a mangy mutt." Kullervo gave a simple dismissive wave of his hand at Harvey. "Seriously, Mutt, do us all a favour and keep quiet. The horrid sounds coming out of your mouth is an offence to the language."

Kullervo stepped from the supplies with a look of growing contempt, arms folding tightly as Magnus continued to bark orders as though he had any point of authority. Pitiful.

"Though, perhaps, we should let Muscle-Brain over there do it all." Kullervo tilted his chin in Theodore's direction. "He seems to be the only one here who hasn't already decided that this event is a complete waste of time and insult to our status."

Theodore had traveled to a lot of places; most of them being due to his father wanting to familiarize him with some lines of his work. None of those places had been Uganda. It was his first time here, and, being accompanied by few adults and many children, Theodore felt like there was going to be lots and lots of trouble and disorganization. Organized wasn't something Theodore would describe himself as, but he wasn't particularly someone who enjoyed doing stuff wrong or mess something up. The few days he was at Durmstrang showed him that most of these people, if not all, were incompetent. At least so in his eyes.

Twinkle Toes? Excuse him? Who did that older kid thing he was? The raven looked at the curly-haired boy with some rare amusement in his eyes. The year had barely started and people over here were already thinking of nicknames for each other. What a boring life they must have to think of finding nicknames for other people as a hobby. "Почему именно он?" 1 He looked over at Kazimir. The boy he knew had known, years ago. The one boy he probably hated with his whole heart, and detested even more than Kullervo. "Вообще-то, неважно" 2 He muttered and walked over to Kazimir.

The blonde second-year, Harvey Dunn, suddenly caught his attention, resulting to almost letting go of the anchor, thankfully catching it before it fell on his and Kazimir's feet and caused a broken toe or bruising. He knew Harvey wasn't in Durmstrang from the start, but he didn't know the boy wasn't fluent in Russian. A tinge of guilt swarmed over him, then shaking his head to push the feeling down to hell. Not his fault he didn't notice Harvey's broken Russian during the summer camp. If he had, he would have communicated with him in English, which he seemed to be fluent in, by the way he started to talk to Raphael.

"Кулл, ты же никогда не замолкаешь, да?" 3 No matter how many times he told himself and anyone else how much this boy irritated him, it would never be enough. Theodore wasn't an expert with nicknames; he wasn't one who'd give people one, but he didn't find how Kullervo called Harvey "pup" okay. He didn't comment on his own received nicknames. He merely didn't care about them, although Twinkle Toes irritated him for some reason. Commenting on Kullervo's statement was something Theodore regretted almost immediately after realizing what he'd said. Maybe he should've thought about it first. It wouldn't be something his parents would appreciate him saying if they were there, and he didn't want to drag their name through the mud; surely nothing as small as calling classmates out would get him in trouble, but such a thought wasn't carved in his mind. Any impolite behaviour toward anyone could result in a negative reputation point. Theodore didn't want to be the one causing it. "извините." 4 He muttered bitterly and proceeded to move the anchor.

Cold mist greeted Rosamund as the portkey cheerily transported her to the middle of nowhere.

When she noticed the post about the event, she thought it was very auspicious that they chose the Autumn equinox for this. Whatever the schools have planned, doing it during Mabon, which is a time of reflection for the year so far and preparation for the coming winter, is quite ingenious. Maybe they'll do some rituals, take full advantage of the season. Either way, she thought that it wouldn't hurt to prepare, so she went ahead and read about camping and brushed up on her knowledge of Mabon.

However, no amount of theoretical knowledge could ever have prepared her for the reality of a true wilderness.

Rosamund was a consummate city witch; and even though her family had estates in the countryside, she's been a Londoner all her life. She'd never experienced camping. She'd never even been curious enough to step foot into the forest adjacent to their estate in the countryside—not that she would've been allowed to be had she expressed the desire to do so.

Bur right then, Rosamund was greeted with the cool mist of the forest on her face, the soft crunch of peat under her feet, and the smell of wet foliage, petrichor and woody vetiver filling up her senses, and she looked around in awe. Giant heather trees dominated the landscape, their mossy branches twisting in and around the canopy. The forest looked mysterious and creepy and surreal and she loved it.

She really only noticed the barrier and the tent supplies after the Durmstrang headmaster addressed the students and explained to them how to set up their own tents without using magic.

This day was shaping to be a day of many firsts for Rosamund. What an auspicious Mabon indeed!

Allowing herself another moment to admire the misty canopy, she turned her attention back to the headmaster and watched them demonstrate how to set up the Berber tent.

When I read from the site information that Uagadou is rumored to be located somewhere around Rwenzori Mountains, I knew that I had to include a brief atmospheric description of this ecologically unique location.

The Uagadou school is supposed to be located somewhere misty and cloudy, so I surmised that it would have to be somewhere within the Giant Heather-Rapanea Zone around 3000-3500 meters above sea level, featuring heather trees growing to a staggering fifteen to twenty meters with every surface of it covered in very thick moss and lichens, and it looks incredibly cool. There is permanent cloudy-misty atmosphere here that is almost comparable to equatorial mossy forests in Borneo or Central America, if not for the imposing, mossy trees everywhere, and is rumored to be the source of the Nile river. It's no wonder why this place was widely believed as the legendary Mountains of the Moon.

Raphael was honestly excited about the wilderness event. It was rare for him to be excited about anything truthfully but the chance to go visit other schools and possibly be able to research the plants that grew in those areas. He had come prepared of course with a bunch of parchment and quills to make notes of his findings.

What he hadn't expected was needing to set up their tents when they got there. Raphael didn't really mind needing to get his hands dirty and doing hard work but the problem? He wasn't strong enough to lift the supplies for their tent. Neither was his dear cousin. Though, speaking of Fawkes, she was sharing a tent with him as well as some others but she seemed to have wandered away somewhere. He could see her nearby but she appeared to be fascinated with something else. Not really his problem honestly.

Before he could do anything else however, he was hit in the back of his head with a rope. Furious, he turned around rubbing the spot that was hit and raised his hands to sign. He noticed the boy who had thrown the rope was from Durmstrang. So Russian sign would be the best in his case. Granted, he was still learning the language and knew very little sign but he did know enough about insults. You stupid. Why you throw rope. You insane? he signed roughly. After thinking for a moment he decided to try and sign it in english on the of chance the boy understood. Are you stupid? Why would you throw the rope at my head!? Do you know how badly one can get injured!? You're insane.

He picked up the rope and aimed for the boy before throwing it right back at him with whatever strength the smaller french boy possesed.

The day they left, the clouds casted a large shadow over Hogwarts –– a somber canopy unlike that which has been seen before in the past few days. Azzure stood around a portkey, his silver gilded black t-shirt and spiral embroidered pants blending in to the mildy gloomy surrounding. Azzure had his blind cane with him, as blue shades covered his eyes. Usually Azz would never like to, nor need to look this visually disabled, but Azzure had spent a few years living with the family of his mom's muggle born friend back before Azz entered his 1st year –– that plus the summers that he spends with Shiori and her muggle dad in Japan meant that Azzure was familiar with the muggle world and he knew just how unfriendly it is to those who didn't have all 5 senses, and now with the added condition that he wasn't able to use magic, its just better to be safe than sorry –– and unfortunately that meant bringing his cane.

But sooner than later, Azzure heard footsteps approach him and as the footsteps drew closer Azz heard the soft chatting that signaled the arrival of his tent mates. In truth, Azz didn't quite understand how he became the chaperone to this rag-tag bunch of juniors, but maybe being around so many peppy second years and first years might restore some of his faith in the world. In any case, it did mean that he was now responsible for these children, which was oddly flattering if he was being honest. Although if they think that it would be easier to fuck around with a blind chaperone their in for a real treat –– nothing gets past Azzure's ears. Once all his children arrived Azzure turned to them saying, "Once I activate the portkey, hold on tight to your bags, don't want them to fly away in the transit."

Traveling by portkey was always Azzure's favorite method of travel by far –– fast, efficient, cool, it checked all the boxes exponentially. Once they landed in Uagadou Azzure couldn't help but appreciate it. The last time he had been here it was last year with Ara, Vi, Mahl, and Mamori –– despite the peril in they experienced in that summer, he'd grown so much closer with them because of it, and most especially, he'd found himself in that one summer spent with his friends. Uagadou will always hold a special place in his heart, but now coming back unable to see, it was bittersweet. Azzure wished he could appreciate all the little things, the exotic flora and fauna, how pretty the stars looked here, but in exchange Azzure now gets to see Uagadou in a different lens. Now that his ears and hands became his eyes, Azz realized just how clear the songs of the birds are here, how every creature small and big each had their own call, their own lives, their own dreams. Truly, nature is beautiful.

When the headmaster of Uagadou began to explain their task, Azz couldn't help but smile, camping was always something Azz had always wanted to do and now he as able to make that wish become a reality. Azzure heard the moment the materials needed where placed infront of them, but Azz didn't quite know which is which, so instead Azz look towards her company and asked, "What would you guys like to be assigned to? I could help carry the pillar and set it up, although I do need someone else to help me with that as well."

Things to note about Kaz: 1) He always wears gloves. 2) He has OCD. #3) He may have panic attacks if triggered.
═══════════════════════════════
Kaz hated just about everything here. The Ugandan weather, though not sweltering hot, is still unpleasant compared to the chilliness of Northern Europe. However, what presses the boy even more is the mere fact of being in the wild. It had been five years since his last... journey in the wilderness, and it was a memory he would rather keep locked in a box. He still remembers the faint hissing in the air, the panic of running through the trees, and the thumping of steps behind him.

Kaz shakes his head as he quickly snaps out of his trance. He could not spiral today, especially in front of people he does not know. It is a weakness. A liability. Unfortunately, the filthy environment does nothing to quell his displeasure as he stands off to the side, glaring at the heap of supplies they had to use to build their tent. Kaz had almost laughed when their Headmaster told them they had to do it with no magic, until he realized that the instructor was dead serious. So here he stands, crossing his arms while holding his head up high, judging his surroundings and his supposed teammates — all of whom had taken an interest in useless bickering.

The young boy breathes in slowly through his nose, trying to calm his rising blood pressure. Only an hour into this dreadful journey and he already realized two fundamental truths at the exact same time. One, his tentmates are idiots. Two, Kaz was going to bury a body by the end of this trip. But as he continues to observe the ridiculous interactions unfolding before him, he thinks it may be more than one.

Flexing his fingers, the Morozov heir finds comfort at the familiar feel of leather against his skin. It was the only luxury he was allowed to have in this savage wilderness. Despite his attempt to convince his parents to not make him go to this event, his father insisted that some exposure to the wild will do him some good. The best way to overcome your fears is to face them, Kazimir. The boy had scoffed then, arguing that there were better things he could do and failing to see the benefit of this little excursion. Staring disdainfully at his bleak and lackluster surroundings, he still stands by that belief. The camping trip was exactly how he expected it to be — awful. There were too many people, but not only that, they lacked braincells. Could they not even place him with the intelligent ones?

Letting out an exasperated sigh, Kaz mourns for his clean and organized room. There was a place for everything, and he did not have to worry about the grime and diseases these creatures may give him. The dirt and bugs crawling everywhere was already making him on edge, the last thing he needed was to room with six other people. He was going to have to claim his own area and make sure none of them so much as breathes on it. However, there was a bigger issue at hand.

They did not have a tent. The Russian pinches the bridge of his nose, annoyed by the little progress the others are making. A rugged boy that looks somewhat older than him throws a bundle of rope, hitting some French kid at the back. Kaz watches with mild amusement as the kid signs furiously at the other, his hands making odd gestures. Though he did not understand sign language, it does not take a genius to decipher the boy's anger. He knew how to speak French, of course — among other languages, but better to let the foreigner struggle in this tent full of Durmstrang students.

At the same time, the Ikonen heir was having his fun making snarky remarks at everyone else. His name was Kullevro, if Kaz was correct — which he always is. Though they had a little tussle on the first day at the institute and hated each other's guts, Kaz has to admit he holds a certain respect for Ikonen. The other boy has a sharp tongue that could rival his own, but unfortunately has a temperament of a wet cat. Either way, they both seem to share the same sentiment: this trip was a waste of time. Perhaps Kaz can get him to sneak out later, although he thinks the other may just argue out of spite.

As more noise occurs, his eyes drift lazily over to commotion. Standing in the center of it all was a boy older than them all, his boisterous personality and unpolished manners irking Kaz further. Though the transfer student, whom was nicknamed "pup," had a crude way of acting as well, this older year still rubs Kaz the wrong way. Magnus, he remembers hearing while in Durmstrang. The Dhampir had a notorious reputation, and it is not hard to see why. At least he seems to be doing something with the tent.

“Hey! Twinkle Toes, you seem to be the strongest one here help Twinkie over there pick up some of these pieces to help support the tent.” Kaz was not even aware that the unsophisticated being addressed him until a voice next to him spoke up.

"Why him?"

Something twists in Kaz's heart as he turns over to see the person he had been purposefully avoiding since the first day at the institute. Next to him, Theodore looks anything but pleased — either from the nickname or his own presence, he is not sure. His old friend had definitely changed since they last met, and he imagines he had, too. They never recognized each other until their names were called out, after all. He has to admit though, getting into a brawl was probably not the best reunion after years of no contact. There were many things he had wished to say to Theodore, but no words came out. He did not know how to start. With an apology? With an explanation? Offer to buy him something?

Well, he would not have to worry about that anymore as Theodore brushed past him, holding an anchor of some sort. This trip is an absolute mess, Kaz thought exhaustedly. It looks like Kullevro would be the only tolerable company in this dreadful place, which is already saying a lot about his predicament.

"Is there anyone here who is not a complete idiot?" He sighs. "If you all happen to be as incompetent as you appear to be, I shall be taking my leave. The white rabbit over there —" Kaz says with a sharp nod towards Magnus, "— can build the tent himself if he is so inclined to. I am getting some fresh air and away from you... things." He says the last part in clear disgust, scrunching his nose a bit as he notices how grimy some of them looked. Particularly the one with the odd accent who speaks with a peculiar drawl.

"Would it kill you to look in the mirror, for once?" He mutters in English, directing his question at the Transfer. He wonders what uncivilized city he crawled out from to look that disheveled. Turning on his heel to leave the bickering group, Kaz tosses a metal hook at the Blackwood. "Get working little bunny." With a smirk, he departs.

____Millie stood without any word as her eyes staring questionably at the piles of supplies lied not far from Durmstrang Headmaster and another experts standing in front of the students. He then said that those supplies were becoming our tent material during our stay here. His claim that will no magic allowed not exactly makes the girl let out a relief sigh because she never actually built any tent beforehand beside spread out a picnic blanket on the steady ground. Although that doesn't automatically make her as a worst participant who couldn't bring her tent stand firmly, this magic prohibition at least pumped her determination to properly listen the experts' explanation when they started to grab the supplies and begin their tutorial in this tent building session.

____Assembling the frame become the first step. Of course. She took the poles, arranged it here and there and don't forgetting to makes sure it was in the right position along with the roof frame or it will shape funny. After that, she grab the cover made by animals hair and drapes it over the frame. If she left it just like that, the wind surely will flew the cover up by no time so she tighten it with a rope she found not far from where she build her tent. Last but not least, to secure the tent to the ground. It is indeed a quite easy step but Millie didn't let the opportunity slip by when one of the experts passed by her and offer some help. She gladly accept that as she watched from the side how her helper anchored her tent deeper to the ground.

____It's done. She did it. Finally. Yet, Durmstrang Headmaster announced to tear them all down like this was just nothing. Hft! Millie do as he said anyway, bitter face, inwardly venting out her annoyance if only he can say that in the first place. Fine. There. Done. All kept in the bag. But it turns out, it still not done yet. There is still one type of tent to build. Sure. Bring it in!
