Finding a compartment pv December Prometheus

"Goodbye!" Buck shouted as he waved to his family. The train started up and they slowly shrank into the crowd. Buck backed away from the window and started down the corridor of the Express, occasionally glancing around the compartments for empty space as he thought;

Man, I wish I knew some people here... I guess there's Prometheus, but I bet he would much rather hang with his friends than me after not seeing them since last year.

A compartment door next to him slammed shut and jolted him out of his thoughts.

Right, I still need to find a compartment.

Buck clutched his carry-on backpack and kept moving to the next train car. Things were a lot more hectic in there. One kid threw a fart bomb into another compartment and blocked the door. Another took out all the good Bertie beans and was willingly eating the nasty ones. Occasionally, groups of kids would trample him while rushing to other compartments before the long journey.

Merlin's beard, of all the train cars I could've went into...

Oh! There's an empty one!

Buck poked his head inside just to be sure nothing would scare him out his trousers. When nothing did, he walked in and slid the compartment door shut behind him, and sat down in one of the window seats.

Buck sat for about half an hour gazing at the landscape as the train rushed by, when suddenly, he heard a knock on the compartment door. When he turned to see who it was, he saw a familiar face...

"Thanks Mom and Dad!" Athena says as she heads off to the train, her parents waving off to her in the background. Her brothers have already ditched her to meet up with their friends. So she's on her own. She weaves her way through all the hugging families and hops onto the train, hoping to find an open compartment.

Before she heads deeper into the train, she goes to one of the bathroom compartments. And wow she looks tired. Her parents woke her up extra extra early that morning so that they could spend time with her before she left. Even though she promised she would write them a letter every single week. She splashed some water on her face and flattens down her hair. One last thing before she leaves the bathroom, she looks inside her bag to make sure she had everything for the long train ride. Three books, her journal, a water bottle, her reading glasses and a little picture of her family, (and yes, she put it in there even though she swore she wasn't going to miss them).

Finally she leaves the bathroom, the train lurches forward and Athena loses her footing but quickly catches herself. She heads down the aisle of compartments and it seems like every single one is full. She thinks to herself "Oh shoot, everyone is already making friends but me,". Then finally after what feels like hours, she finds a compartment with one other person, might as well take a shot.

"Hi can I sit in here?" Athena asks, looking at the other person in the compartment.

"Gahhh," Prometheus groaned, voice cracking as he staggered out of the compartment he'd been in for the last half hour. "Yeah, so don' come back!" one of his so-called friends shouted at him, her hands gripping the frame of the door while looking down at December, who promptly shrieked back; "LIKE I'D WANNA, YA BIG--"

His cursing was cut off by her slamming the door shut, and Prometheus grumbled as he righted himself, throwing an unfriendly gesture towards the closed door before he eventually took a look around the train cart's hallway.

Hm, I should probably... Go to a new compartment...? He thought, somewhat idly. In truth, he was not really paying much attention to his main train of thought; preoccupied by a distant recollection he'd had of some upperclassmen telling him how the Trolley Witch should chase down and machete students not seated right. They were definitely exaggerating, he thought, but I wouldn't put it past the school to have a sort of guardian for the train...

With that unsettling thought, he started down the way, thinking back to one of his close friends from back home in Nottingham, Buck, who was just 'round one year younger than Prometheus; he'd be starting at Hogwarts for his first year... So certainly he'd be on the train. If only December could just find him...!

He spent a few minutes wandering through the cart, occasionally peeking through open compartments and dismissing most of them. Too full—Not full enough—Merlin, I hope he didn't see me; I hate him—Oh, gross, people are face sucking already? By the point of that last thought; he had quite the disgruntled look about him. Gee, there's not many left, huh? He thought, seeing maybe ten compartments he'd yet to check, Man, I really don't feel li—

A noise cut off his train of thought. Grating were the sounds from the dull roll of the wheels, snd the unsettling, spine-tingling feeling that came with hearing it made Prometheus shiver once he realized what it was. Oh, no... It's the Trolley Witch making rounds... he thought, panick-stricken. She must be what, fifteen compartments—ten?—behind me! He felt like screaming.

The stories he'd heard weren't worth the risk at all, decided Prometheus, whirling around to the closest compartment, and knocking on the door in warning as respectfully as he could in his jittery state, before flinging it open, getting in, and slamming it shut behind him.

When he turned around to see if anyone else had been inside, immediately, his nerves spiked again... but this time out of sheer joy and shock at the face of the only other person in the compartment. "No way, Delerious?!" He said excitedly, looking at the younger boy. "Oh, Merlin, it is you!" He exclaimed, throwing his arms up animatedly.

At the same time, Buck had sat up and rushed to—hug? tackle?—him, eliciting an "Ouf!" from Prometheus, that he added on to once he'd hit his friend's back enough times to get him off and had caught his breath. "Hey, I was just runnin' from the Trolley Witch! I think." He said, grinning. "Crazy running into you!"

Then, he noticed another person in there, sorta hidden. In fact, maybe Prometheus had even hit her behind the door—Oops—or she'd slipped in right before him, or something. A girl, probably a first year, with long straightened hair and maybe a case of nerves. "Oh," He noted intelligently, looking from her to Buck, the back to her. "Didn't see ya there, sorry... Who're you?" He asked the girl curiously, wondering if Buck had a secret long-lost sister that he'd never told Prometheus about.
