It was 1st of September. Eleanor had just came off the Hogwarts Express and made her way to the Great Lake and saw 7 boats, which she assumed was the way to the Castle.
Eleanor didn’t think she would need to interact with anyone other than her twin sister, Aurora who would also be going to Hogwarts whom she was inseparable with and was only 3 minutes older than, so she didn’t interact with anyone on Boat #3 and even when the two girls were talking she didn’t even know what they were talking about. Eleanor didn’t really pay attention during their conversation.
Eleanor looked at the lake itself, wondering what was inside and how deep it was and what dangers lurked inside it. Was it safe? How dangerous was it exactly?
When Eleanor heard a voice saying that there was a fog, she wondered what would happen to them. She looked at those on her boat, “I usually never interact with anyone other than my twin sister who will be sorted at Hogwarts too, I’m Eleanor Livia Fairchild. From London”
Eleanor looked at the boy who mentioned that there were fog warnings at his place, “You are?” She asked curiously.

Alfie was surprised to hear the voice of someone who up into that point had been as silent as he had been. He raised an eyebrow as she explained that she never interacted with anyone besides her twin sister. That was more sheltered than anyone he had ever heard of before, though perhaps not the strangest thing he'd heard since meeting other witches and wizards. The fog was quite thick now, but not so thick that he couldn't see the faces of the passengers in his own boat. He found himself trying to read the expressions of the other girls to try and suss out whether this level of isolation was usual among magic folks. He was conscious to stay polite and didn't let his raised eyebrow or questioning glance last too long.
"Pleased to meet you, Eleanor Livia Fairchild, from London," he parroted back. He was afraid that leaving out any portion of that introduction might be a faux pas where she came from.
"Alfie Wyn Owen, from Caergybi." he said in the same fashion. "That's Holyhead, Wales to you English" He resisted the urge to shake hands because even if they were being formal, eleven-year-olds shaking hands seemed wrong. Not knowing what else to say and feeling that the introduction might have been insufficient he added, "I don't have a twin sister."
He shrugged in the direction of the other two girls. They would have to introduce or not introduce themselves as they saw fit.
"I hope no one is unnerved by fog." Alfie would have sworn that he wasn't before this boatride, but there did seem to be a general mood of unease among the passengers in the other boats. More importantly, now that he thought of it, the adult men hadn't exactly been at ease either.

So far in boat 3 only Maya and Elara were talking, Maya could almost forget there were two other people there, another girl and a boy. And she was reminded of them when the boy said it was just a fog and he had worse of them back in where he lived. After that, the other girl talked too and Maya learned their names were Alfie and Eleanor. Oh , and Eleanor had a twin sister who will be going to Hogwarts too. Maya wondered where her twin sister was and why she wasn’t in the same boat but she didn’t bother to ask for this time.
She felt she was becoming calmer but still a bit uneasy overall. “If its just a fog then why would it be that everyone else seems to be uneasy about it, especially the adults?” Maya couldn’t understand why would it be the case for just a fog.
She then realized maybe it was the time to introduce herself. “ I am Maya by the way..from London.” She said to the two and turned back, trying to see the castle ahead with the thickened fog, with squinted eyes. She stayed in her seat, following the caretaker’s introductions. She noticed Elara didn’t introduce herself to others. She thought maybe she didn’t want to for some reason. Regardless, Maya just pointed towards Elara and introduce her name to others herself

"Sit properly, boy." Mahdi Hassan commanded shortly after introducing himself and answering the questions aimed at him. "If you have energy to spare, save it for the castle stairs."
It took a moment or two for Strike to realize he was the one being addressed. "Yes, sir! Sorry, sir," the blond was quick to apologize with the discipline of someone who had a militaristic upbringing, sitting up ramrod straight and just as stiff. Alas, despite his best efforts to quell his restless movements, he could no more keep still than he could stop thinking. No sooner had his body had stopped rocking than his knee began to rapidly bounce not long after without his even noticing. Strike was too busy being smothered by his own anxious thoughts.
He wanted Liron. Though his missing the other Greek boy was nothing new, it was times like these he missed him and his calm, composed demeanor more than usual, making it especially difficult to ignore the strong yearning for his friend. Or Henry, who he had met and roomed with at camp, would have been comforting to have there, too. Unfortunately, however, both of them were a year older than Strike, so they had already been on their boat ride to the castle a year ago. Which meant Strike had to suck it up without clinging to the memories of people who werent’t there just then and be a better kid. Like Jeremy and Jo, maybe. The caretaker didn’t seem to mind them or what they did.

By this time the fog had thickened and Alfie suspected he might have spoken too soon. "I take it back," he said (because admitting your mistakes first is preferable to having them pointed out) "This is as bad as the fogs back home."
He could hear Elara and Maya discussing the abnormality of the fog, with Maya pointing out what he had begun to consider himself. If the adults were worried, there might be a good reason.
"There's no current though," he pointed out helpfully. "We should be perfectly safe so long as we aren't moving. The guy in charge will know these waters though and if there are reefs or rock formations under the surface that he normally uses visual cues to avoid. If there are, and he doesn't have a compass or some kind of sound system to guide us then I reckon we'll have to play it safe and go back."
Unless there is a magic solution for navigation, he thought. After all, the boats were propelling themselves. He didn't know what other magical aids might be available. Alfie didn't express this though because he didn't want to reveal that the things he knew about fog and navigation were muggle.
He began pondering magic and how much he didn't know when a troubling thought occurred to him. Water spirits can control the weather, or at least the ones in his grandmother's stories could. He had no idea if those were real of made up, but he recalled that in those stories a sudden localized fog often signalled the presence of sea maidens: môr-forynion1 or mermaids. They could also summon tempests to sink ships.
He turned to the girl called Elara. "What did you mean before when you said that this wasn't a normal fog?"

─────No sooner had Lucian settled down he heard a chirpy girl introducing him to the other boat mates. He was taken a back by her extrovert side. Here Lucian was shy boy who hardly spoke and that girl (Xio) was the opposite of him. The fog was thick and it was hard to see people. But even in this gloomy weather, Lucian was happy that he was getting to start his magical journey.
Lucian got a little settled and looked at Xio and said "Thank you for the introductions." He was trying to recognize people in the fog. There was another boy there Merc something. And two girls, Xio and Bella as per Xio's intriduction. "I am Lucian Wright." He said. "Nice to meet you, Xio. I am super excited about going to Hogwarts. Since I am a muggle born I didn't think I would get this opportunity." He said. After all he had had his first instance of magic about 3 years ago. So he was sure to go to Hogwarts.
"It is scary as it is. Don't put more feat into it." He said. "I am sure we will reach the School in one piece." He said. "The people taking us have done it a thousand times I am sure." He said. He tried to look around and spot others. But he was unable to do so.

Sol’s eyes lit up, and she lightly grasped the side of the boat closest to her as she peered over the edge, watching the boats pull themselves away from the docks. The smooth motion caused no disruption to their vessel, which made sense. They wouldn’t want to fling children into the lake simply by taking off. Though if there were any time to be flung into the lake, that would likely be the safest point in which to do so.
Noise slowly stilled, beyond the students' chattering. She assumed this was the normal amount of noise you could expect in the middle of a lake, but something made her think otherwise. The light that was passing beneath the boats. She tried to look at the man leading this expedition, but it was no use when a fog started to… not roll in, but rise. It’s not that she couldn’t see him, but it made it impossible to discern his facial expressions at that distance.
Instead, she focused on what she could see as she peered over the edge, as the boats stopped moving completely. Then the command.
“Stay seated. No wands.”
Was this a prank? Or was there going to be some show? Certainly nothing bad was going to happen. She wasn’t certain about any of the options, but she intended not to miss anything in this moment.
Action| Peering into the water from her side of the boat. Not fully leaned over, but likely more than the chaperone would want.
OOC Note| Sorry guys. Breaking our boat post order because I do not want to miss the next mod.
