Frazzled Nerves
Interacting with @Henry Knight and @Cricket Mercury
Eyre couldn't help but stare at the two after Cricket had her spiel about not knowing how to talk to anyone because he was homeschooled. He realized something in that moment: Wizard kids are extraordinarily not adjusted to social situations, for the most part, so it was normal to be anxious. He'd thought back to his own life. He had friends back at home, but they were all pure-blooded or half-bloods who lived in a primarily magical household. This was the first time that he was ever in a compartment with kids his age from different backgrounds and he was already stumbling all over himself, so he knew that this was only normal.
He grinned and shook his head. "Wow...We're all absolute messes, aren't we?" He laughed. Once he realized that it might've been taken as rude, he turned red in the cheeks and began to ramble again. "...I-I mean... It's quite funny, if you think about it...All of us getting on a train together, going to a magic school, and half of us haven't even begun to make friends before this... It's a true recipe for disaster." Something about this, once he said it, was especially funny and he began to laugh again nervously, clearing his throat.
"Let's just start over, and... try to tell each other a little bit about ourselves.." He said, harking back to a time before when his parent's friends would get their kids together at parties so that they could all meet. Every new meeting would open up with an icebreaker similar to what Eyre had mentioned, and even though at the parties he thought they were awkward and sometimes embarrassing, he found it especially useful in this situation.
"My name is Eyre, and I'm from Bilbrook. There is a pretty large pureblood population there, so all of us sort of stick together." He said, before correcting himself. "Not like I or my family have any problem with half bloods or muggle borns, it's just... how it is..." He turned another shade of red, hoping that his new acquaintances didn't take offense to him admitting how closed off his community was. It would be daft to pretend otherwise. Most people knew how selective pure blood families could be in regards to the people that their children associated with, and the Reeves family was no exception to this. Granted, they were more lax and didn't have problems with half-bloods, but Eyre would be lying if he said that he had any muggle born friends. Being the open minded sort, he was hoping to change that. He didn't want to grow to be the fuddy-duddy Pureblood sort that bragged about only being friends with "true" wizards.

As Henry still had his head aimed down and eyes covered by his hair, he heard Cricket say "I-I'm sorry I didn't realize what I was saying. I don't usually have any interactions with people. You see, I'm homeschooled so the only people I see are my mum and dad and Henry but we don't live near each other and I don't have any siblings so I don't really know what it's like to talk to people my age." Henry looked toward Cricket a bit but with his eyes covered by his hair so the other two didn't really see where he was looking, "Bloody hell" Cricket whispered. Cricket must be more nervous than me but at least she didn't say anything to embarrassing about herself, unlike me. Henry pushed his hair back using his hand and then smiled, comfortably at Cricket to say he knew how she felt. "Wow...We're all absolute messes, aren't we? ...I-I mean... It's quite funny, if you think about it...All of us getting on a train together, going to a magic school, and half of us haven't even begun to make friends before this... It's a true recipe for disaster." Eyre spoke which made Henry jumped a little but not to much to be noticed, he then smiled at the boy to acknowledge him then turned his head to looked at the passing scenery beyond the window.
Eyre is right about all of us being absolute messes and not having any social skills, especially me. I was panicking when all I needed to say was my name to one person, how am I going to survive Hogwarts not to mention what I'm going to do when a professor asks me a question. I can't even talk to someone who is my age, that doesn't even include professor's or older student's I'll probably just faint. I'm getting sick by just thinking about it, just great.
Henry's face started to full with embarrassment and he aimed his head down while again letting his hair cover his eyes. "Let's just start over, and... try to tell each other a little bit about ourselves.." Eyre spoke and Henry started to panic a bit more. He tapped his hand on his knee quite quickly and started to take calming breaths. Are you insane, I already embarrassed myself once and now I have to do it all over again. Now I'm really going to be sick. Henry closed his eyes while Eyre continued to speak "My name is Eyre, and I'm from Bilbrook. There is a pretty large pureblood population there, so all of us sort of stick together. Not like I or my family have any problem with half bloods or muggle borns, it's just... how it is..."
Henry opened his eyes and barely looked up but thought he saw that Eyre seemed embarrassed from admitting he mostly has pure blood friends. That's better than me, I only have one friend, Henry continued to tap his knee while he thought. Henry finally pushed his hair back using his shaky hand and looked up at Eyre, he still felt a little embarrassed but he took a deep breath and rest his shakey hands on his knees while he said"I'm Henry and am from godric hollow, a fairly large wizarding and muggle community where I know no one besides from Cricket but like she said we didn't live in the same area so we mostly sent owls. I mostly spent time in the small library at my house to read which explains my lack of social skills. Henry then looked up at Eyre and gave a guilty while also shy type of smiled before aiming his head back down and letting his hair cover his eyes while his hands continued to shake on his knees.

Cricket couldn’t help but feel worried that she would completely embarrass herself at Hogwarts. There’s more than just students there, there’s also the professors and they were much more frightening than speaking to one single person. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Henry turn to look at what she thought was her but she couldn’t tell.
"Wow...We're all absolute messes, aren't we? ...I-I mean... It's quite funny, if you think about it...All of us getting on a train together, going to a magic school, and half of us haven't even begun to make friends before this... It's a true recipe for disaster."
Cricket couldn’t help but chuckle at his remark. I mean he’s right, we’re all just as awkward and nervous as each other. Cricket was a but surprised that he was mostly friends with pure-bloods. Cricket is a pure-blood but she doesn’t care about people’s blood status. Cricket looked up and smiled warmly at Henry.
"I guess it’s my turn now,” said Cricket. “My name is Cricket Mercury and I’m from Aberdeen. I went to Muggle school when I was younger but left because I was getting bullied so my mum had to homeschool me. Henry is my best friend but we don’t live near each other so I have a family of bats living in the woods behind my house to keep me company. I guess that’s why i’m awkward. Because the only people i have verbal conversations with is my mum, dad, and my bat friends.” Cricket turned a slight shade of red when she said that. But, she knew her new and old friends are just as awkward as she is.

Henry bit his lip as to not laugh at the last remark Cricket made, even though Cricket wrote in her letters about her bat friends he still though it interesting and kind of her to look at those bats with respect and kindness that you would normally show for people. Henry always like magical and also non-magical creatures sometimes even a bit more than people since they didn't judge a person as quickly as people tended to do.
Which explains why Henry was holding back laughter because he wasn't laughing at Cricket just the thought that she to enjoyed the presence of creatures like him. I still wish I can meet her bat friends, maybe someday. I also wonder if I can somehow take care of magical creatures before my third year maybe I can get out of the required flying classes for care of magical creatures instead. Henry chuckled slightly at the thought and continued to tap his knee with less shaky hand now. He's becoming a bit more relaxed but still a bit nervous.
Henry look slightly up and pushed the hair from his eyes so he could see clearly, he look slightly at the compartment door while a few students past I still kind of hope that no one else joins the compartment because I don't think I'll be able to handle anyone else or I'll might faint if someone does. Henry continued to watch as students past by and only stopped when his stomach gave a low gumble, Henry eyes shined with embarrassment and hope the others didn't hear. Please tell me no one else heard, that was horrible. I feel like I'm going to be sick not to mention also hungry, I knew I should have ate before I left. I hope the trolly comes along soon before my stomach embarrass me again.
Henry's face seemed to be flushed with embarrassment as he held his hands on his knees to keep them from shaking and continued to looked out the compartment door at passing students.

Eyre grinned at the thought of Cricket's bat friends. He wondered if they were particularly helpful, or if she could send letters with them in lieu of owls. Eyre always liked magical creatures, but he knew that he wasn't going to school for that. He was going to Hogwarts to become a great and powerful wizard for the sake of his heirhood, not to shovel Hippogriff dung.
"I wish I had bat friends! My mum and dad made me take care of animals when I was a kid, because they thought I was a squib..." He said, a frown threatening to twinge on his lips. It was always particularly painful and embarrassing to admit that, until his 10th birthday, he had shown no magical attributes at all. "I want to take it in my third year, but mum and dad want me to be an Auror or something important, so I'll have to put it on the back burner." He explained, nervously playing with a loose string on his robe.
The trolley came by that was pushed by a nice, round looking old woman.
"Anything from the trolley?" She asked, with a glint of whimsy in her eyes. Eyre rustled through his pockets for the coins that his mother had given him. In spite of their general neglectful nature, at least his family was rich enough to furnish Eyre with enough coins to buy himself, and his friends, a treat or two.
"A pumpkin juice and cauldron cakes, please." Eyre requested, handing her a few sickles. She handed over the pumpkin juice in a glass bottle which was corked, as well as a colorful Qizilbash Quality Confectionary box with 5 cauldron cakes inside. He turned to his compartment mates. "If you like, I could buy you both something as well. My mum and dad gave me enough coins."

Henry still has his head tilted down with his hair covering his eyes as he thought about a future career working with magical creatures until he heard Eyre say"I wish I had bat friends! My mum and dad made me take care of all of the animals of the house when I was a kid, because they thought I was a squib..." Henry looked up and pushed his hair back with his hand to see Eyre who was slightly frowning a bit. Henry understood how he must have felt, I mean he wasn't a squib but his twin was which also made Henry should a sign of sympathy toward Eyre as he continued"I want to take it in my third year, but mum and dad want me to be an Auror or something important, so I'll have to put it on the back burner." Henry tried to grin but instead his mouth formed into a slightly frown now that he was feeling a bit bad for Eyre.
His family thought he was a squib, he must have been thrilled the first time he did magic or got his Hogwarts letter which ever came first. Is that why he mentioned others treat his sisters better than him, since I'm guessing their all witches and they thought he was a squib, he did say he has mostly pure blood friends and what my experiences with pure blood taught me is they seem to care very deeply if your a squib or not which is very sad. If anyone treated my sister differently just because she's a squib I know her and even me would be outraged from that so I can see why Eyre might be upset, I really do feel bad for him and I hope now at Hogwarts he can outshine his sister's with magic. Still that couldn't have been too bad if he has to look after all their animals, I certainly would have love it. Animals are amazing to be around and they don't judge you like how people do.
Henry smiled and spoke softly" that must have bloody sucked when your family thought you were a squib, not to mention how you felt with the thought of your family doing magic while you couldn't. Still you showed them right, I mean your on the Hogwarts express maybe becoming a better wizard than your whole family." Henry grinned up at Eyre as he took a deep breath and continued "I know how you feel though while my magic surfaced, my twin sister's didn't and turns out she is a squib not that anyone in my family really cares.... I mean while were pureblood's I technically never met my family or other pureblood's like you because of many pureblood views that my parents disagree with." Henry turned red in the face and sort of looked down while he started to tapped his knee rather quickly.
Now you look like a idiot, why would you say all that to begin with. He doesn't need to know or judge you for any of that even if he said more than what he needed to. Still you shouldn't have said any of that now he really might think your weird or an outsider, as long as everything else sounds normal maybe he might forget that your weird or that you just said that. He mention liking magical creatures so maybe say something normal about those.
Henry looked up while steadying his shaky hands on his knees while he spoke" I also will probably take care of magical creatures in my third year if I can't figure out a way to take it earlier, maybe they might switch it with flying." Henry chuckled a bit at the last part then took a deep breath as he continued"An Auror sounds cool, I rather worked with creatures through I find them wonderful and also calming, I think I might sneak into the forbidden forest to find some this year if you want to come along." Henry smiled a bit at the though then continued to tap his pants rather quickly while his faced turn red with regret from saying anything, why would you say that now he'll probably think your a trouble maker which your not so just stop messing up Henry.
Henry noticed that they sat there in silence for a while before the trolly witch came by with the trolly filled with all types of sweets that made Henry think he was going to drool. "Anything from the trolley?" The trolly witch spoke to them, Henry saw Eyre take out a handful of sickles from his pocket, Henry silently gasped as the sight because while his family isn't consider poor they still have less money than most so Henry was slightly amazed at the amount of money that Eyre had right now. "A pumpkin juice and cauldron cakes, please." Eyre spoke to the trolly witch while handing her a few sickles, Henry searched his own pockets for money but came up empty handed he then searched his messager type bag that was next to him in the seat for any coins but again came up empty handed. Henry could feel the hunger in his stomach now and tried his best not to look as the trolly witch handed Eyre a pumpkin juice and cauldron cakes he feared he might actually start drooling at the sight of food.
"If you like, I could buy you both something as well. My mum and dad gave me enough coins." Eyre asked both him and Cricket. Henry licked his lips at the thought of food and started to tap his knee rather quickly with his hand because he wasn't sure if he should ask for anything. Henry didn't want Eyre to think he didn't have money or anything but he offered and Henry was hungry, Henry looked toward Cricket who seemed nervous as she held her leg tightly. Henry grinned and elbow her in the ribs playful to hopefully help ease her nerves.
Henry then turned to Eyre as he spoke"if you don't mind then I'll take you up on your offer since I forgot my money at my house this morning." Henry thought that sounded good and not like his family was poor. "Just a pumpkin juice and chocolate frog, please." Henry spoke to the trolly witch as she then handed handed him a punkin juice and chocolate frog while Henry couldn't contain his hunger any longer.

As the time passed by, so did the scenery. Cricket had finally finished rambling when Eyre took her by surprise and said, "I wish I had bat friends! My mum and dad made me take care of all of the animals of the house when I was a kid, because they thought I was a squib..." Cricket smiled at the thought of her not being the only one who loves animals, but her smiled faded when she heard that his parent's doubted he was a wizard but a squib instead. She gave Eyre a comforting smile and he went on saying how he wanted to study Care of Magical Creatures in his third year while his parents wanted him to study as an Auror. She was about to say that her mother is an Auror but was cut off when Henry started to speak.
"That must have bloody sucked when your family thought you were a squib, not to mention how you felt with the thought of your family doing magic while you couldn't. Still you showed them right, I mean you're on the Hogwarts express maybe becoming a better wizard than your whole family!" He paused for a second and spoke in a softer tone. "I know how you feel though while my magic surfaced, my twin sister's didn't and turns out she is a squib not that anyone in my family really cares.... I mean while were pureblood's I technically never met my family or other pureblood's like you because of many pureblood views that my parents disagree with." The two boys started bonding about their love for creatures and their experiences with squibs when a nice, plump lady opened the door to their compartment.
"Anything from the trolley?" She said with a soft smile. Eyre already knew what his stomach desired. "A pumpkin juice and cauldron cakes, please." He said as she handed the witch a few sickles. Cricket felt bad for Henry since he was rummaging around in his stuff looking for a few coins to get him through the ride. Cricket reached her hand down into the pocket of her robe and felt a few coins. She was about to offer them to Henry when Eyre said "If you like, I could buy you both something as well. My mum and dad gave me enough coins." Henry started to tap his knee quite rapidly, the looked over at Cricket who was still hugging her legs rather tightly. Henry grinned and playfully elbowed her in the ribs and Cricket let go of her legs and laughed a bit. He remembers how ticklish I am, she thought, as a hint of red took over her cheeks.
"If you don't mind then I'll take you up on your offer since I forgot my money at my house this morning." Henry traded looks with Eyre as he kindly asked for a pumpkin juice and a chocolate frog. Not wanting to take advantage of Eyre, Cricket got courage and said, "Do you possibly have any blood flavoured lollies?" She tightly curled up her fists not wanting to assume that her friends would think badly of her. "For a Dhampir I presume?" Said the trolley witch while rummaging through the cart filled with sweets. Cricket nodded her head and gulped. "Yes, I do have a few but I am only allowed to sell two at a time so the child won't go crazy. Would you like one, or two?" "One, please" said Cricket short, but sweetly. "Here you go, is there anything else you three would like?" Said the trolley witch as she handed Cricket the blood red sweet. "That's it for me, thank you" said Cricket as she handed the witch a few sickles.
"There's something else I didn't mention, I'm a Dhampir. I promise I won't hurt you or suck your blood. Please keep this a secret, I don't need anyone else knowing." Cricket explained as she stared Eyre straight into his eyes as this message was meant for him.

Frazzled Nerves
Henry placed the chocolate frog on his messager type bag besides him as he popped the top of the pumpkin juice off and started to drink half of it, not knowing how hungry he really was as he heard Cricket speak "Do you possibly have any blood flavoured lollies?" Henry tightened the top of the pumpkin juice back on when he was done, "For a Dhampir I presume?" the trolley witch spoke as she started to search her cart for them. "Yes, I do have a few but I am only allowed to sell two at a time so the child won't go crazy. Would you like one, or two?" the trolley witch said after she finally found them, Cricket then spoke from next to him "One please." The trolley witch handed Cricket a blood lollie as she said "Here you go, is there anything else you three would like?" Henry watched as Eyre payed for Cricket's and his sweets as Cricket spoke"That's it for me, thank you."
After a the trolley witch left, Cricket spoke to what it seemed like directly to Eyre"There's something else I didn't mention, I'm a Dhampir. I promise I won't hurt you or suck your blood. Please keep this a secret, I don't need anyone else knowing." Henry watched to see what Eyre would do next, he held his pumpkin juice tightly on one of his knees as the other one started to shake a little. Henry turned his graze to Cricket who just revealed a major secret, he saw she was nervous but not as much as before.
Henry then looked back at Eyre with nerves staring to fill his head again, wow Cricket did it, she told Eyre that's she a dihampir she must be getting comfortable or not as nervous anymore. Maybe I should say that I'm also a werewolf or maybe I should just keep my mouth shut, Cricket seemed comfortable to tell Eyre that she's a dihampir so maybe I should follow her lead it might help me ease my nerves. But Cricket didn't bring it up from out of the blue that trolley witch asked her which made it less awkward for her to tell Eyre. Ugh what should I do, should I tell him or not? He seems trustworthy and kind so maybe I will or maybe I won't, ugh just make up your mind.
Henry looked on as he felt the sweat from the pumpkin juice drip onto his hand, his head was spiraling with thoughts as he took another deep breath then looked out the compartment as to be sure that no one was listening in before he spoke, quietly " since Cricket told you that she's a Dihampir but not to tell anyone which again don't,
please. I'm also a werewolf, don't tell anyone please while I won't hurt you or anyone else there are still some with prejudice against werewolves." Henry looked up at him and smiled before looking back down at his pumpkin juice as the sweat from the bottle ran down his hand. Henry then got up form his seat leaving his drink and bag as he went over to the door and slid it open as he spoke " I think I'm just going to get some air real quick, I'll be back soon." After he walked out from the compartment as he started to walked down the aisle of the train.
