Alumni Quidditch Game
Given how her last few years of Ilvermorny Quidditch games had gone, Phyllis shouldn't have expected to last more than five minutes. All she ever wanted to do was fly her awesome broom and defend her rings and maybe go in for a blatch, if the situation called for it, but all the other team ever seemed to want was for her to be sad and on the ground. Still, she was optimistic every time. Maybe this was the day she'd see a game through!
It started fine. It started great, actually. Phyllis got to fly around and guard her rings! She didn't have to do much, since the brunette she'd high-five before the game kept getting the quaffle. She also kept getting blocked, but that was nothing to hang her head about. "You'll get the next one!" Phyllis shouted, because there was always time to break a streak. She also shouted, "What a hit!!" at their Beater, because what a hit indeed, and wait... that was Arjan Oberoi? She'd never been in-person, but she'd listened to a couple of his tournaments on the radio. He was good. He was also currently falling, but the girl who'd introduced herself as Serena came in to save him. Good teamwork on her part.
Then Phyllis had a job to do, because her teammate hadn't grabbed the quaffle this time. She focused. She watched the girl's eyes. She lunged for the ring the quaffle was sailing toward, and the angle was just right to add in a spinning kick... right back at her. Oof. Not that she'd never knocked someone out of the air doing that before, but it was pretty brutal. Phyllis whispered an apologetic but not very guilty, "Sorry."
And, well, she should have been watching her back. That was the one thing she'd never gotten very good at, so focused on what came at her rings head-on. She didn't see the speedy former Durmstrang player until her hands had left her Oakshaft and the ground was racing at her face. "Not again..."

| x | 𝖀nofficial game or not, it became very apparent very quickly that neither team was to be taken lightly. None-the-wiser that there had been players on either side that had never even set foot—or broomtail—in the air for a proper match, Greta would remain that way as everyone seemed to perform at peak level. The beaters were particularly attractive, both in skill and... well... let's just say that had she been anyone else, the great deal of time she spent eyeing the two men wouldn't have been just to keep an eye for bludgers with her name on them. But she had those kinds of eyes only for @Felix Kolbeck. Still, her eyes widened with shock more than once. The first time, when Arjan knocked the red-haired seeker clean off her broom with a gut-wrenchingly crunchy strike to the young woman's thigh. Which was honestly quite a shame because it looked as though she had honed her focus in much the same way she'd seen Niffy do a thousand times when he'd spotted the snitch. Double would be the pity when the little Norwegian would later recall that she'd been hoping to speak with the seeker after the match, something that would clearly have to be put on hold until the woman was rendered conscious once more and healed. Greta had given a loud Whoop! at the time out of pure reflex before remembering Arjan wasn't on her team in this game. He'd been knocked from his own broom moment's later. "Oh, wow..." Despite her stomach twisting with knots of regret (old bonds of loyalty were hard to fray), she couldn't help but gaze upon her fair-skinned teammate with a sense of awed wonder. To her, Arjan was a sort of epitome of heroic strength. She couldn't recall a time where he had been outdone. Not only had this one (she'd arrived too late to quite catch Howard's name) avoided the bludger Arjan had sent his way, but he'd bested the prince at his own game. "You are really strong! That was really good!" He wasn't the only one, either. The quaffle game was unmatched. Regret panged at her core for not having gone for the quaffle at the blow of the whistle. Those who did flew with blurred speeds to either end of the field, attempted goal stopped and even occasionally rebounded towards opposing players with hefty blows. Greta heard the impacts more than saw them—occupied as she was keeping an eye out for certain opportunities—but it impressed her nonetheless. She couldn't recall Jojo ever having taken out an opponent without even leaving the rings before. Something to ask Felix, she decided. And Greta fit right in with the rest. Small she might have been, but she'd earned the name "the Little Valkyrie" for a reason. Fearless in the face of a fight, this particular chaser tended to have a taste for blood and rarely turned away from an opportunity to lay waste to an opponent. Adept enough at the quaffle game, her specialty came with her diminutive size, able to swiftly close the distance with an enemy and catch them off guard from a blind spot in order to topple them from their broom. Having seen the damage that the opposing Keeper could do, they seemed an appropriate target. The only thing Greta hadn't quite mastered was how to get away with it without being seen. At the call of her foul, she flashed the referee a not-quite-innocent smile before speeding off to complete her penalty lap. "I am to be back on field fast as I can be!" she promised her team.

In the role of Chaser, if you have a contested quaffle grab and a contested strength roll between yourself and another user is in progress, unless they have the same broom, you would be the victor of the contested quaffle grab. In addition, rounds where you are successfully carrying the quaffle in an attempt to score, you only take half-damage from bludgers and blatching attempts.
In the role of Chaser, as a free action if the user of this broom is successful in the quafflegrab they can as a free action pass the Quaffle to another user in an attempt to score. There is a chance of the quaffle being intercepted, however due to the fact that the user is "so fast" with the quaffle this would be considered "surprising" and the attempt to score would be done at +3 accuracy by the player it was passed to in an attempt to score. (Note: The attempt to score would be an automatic attempt by the user that catches the passed quaffle.)
In the role of Chaser when you attempt to catch a passed Quaffle (such as when the Keeper has possession of the Quaffle and passes it to a teammate) you have advantage (meaning that it is rolled twice and you keep the better option) on attempts to catch if the opponent team attempts to intercept.

He'd signed up with Mal, or at least, they'd talked about it. Lost in translations and letters, she'd somewhere along the lines dropped out, leaving the South American Headmaster to fend for himself among a team of strangers. And, quite to his restrained horror: Arkady. A rather awkward parting had resulted in an equally awkward reunion several years later. By the looks of it, the feeling was mutual. He'd offered the younger Polish-North American Headmaster a courteous nod before mounting his broom and throwing one last glance towards the bleachers, catching sight of another familiar face that made him wonder what kind of sick strings of fate had granted him the pleasure of meeting not only one, but two of his past flings in the same place.
The cherry on top was the announcer, an older man who vaguely resembled the barman who'd served him his first European spirits back in his teens, but what were the odds? Acting as though he hadn't seen Katherine, Santiago swallowed and turned his focus back towards the pitch, exchanging next to no words with any of his teammates since. The Peruvian man was distracted for the most part during the start of the game, forgetting his chaser responsibilities even as the others took off.
Amidst reminiscing about his dear friend and long-lost lovers, Santiago jolted back into the present to the sound of loud boos, cheering, and the thunderous slams of bats against Bludgers and Quaffles. More acutely aware was he of the wooden ball that slammed right into his face, leaving an angry red mark across one half of his face. Nothing more than a pained groan mixed with surprise escaped him, betraying just how distracted he'd been.
“Peralta is a bit jetlagged, I’m sure—that quaffle to the face should wake him up.”
If only it had been jetlag, Santi thought with a dry chuckle, the pain radiated from his nose and cheekbone making his face twitch. Well, at least he was awake now.

| ... | 𝓐rkady's plan to remain inconspicuous was painfully short-lived. His attention flitted between the Quaffle and hoops with an increasingly overwhelming sense of exasperation. His neck ached with every change of hands — the ball hurtling to opposite sides of the pitch at an alarming pace. It was worse than a tennis match. Collins shoots, Riddle blocks. Over and over again. A small crooked smile had started to grow on his lips, betraying some amusement and obvious distraction from his search for the Snitch. His teammates were impressively holding their own as he sat back on the sidelines, waiting for opportunity to strike. A familiar glimpse of tanned skin and dark hair glided through the scene, earning a wry huff of laughter from Arkady. How amusing — the idea of playing a friendly game of Quidditch with his ex-lover would never have crossed his mind in a million years. As the Quaffle abruptly went sailing towards that familiar face, Arkady reached a hand out in warning. "Santi—!" The warning came considerably later than the Quaffle. Arkady winced, twisting around on his broom to see whether Peralta remained conscious with a slightly amused grimace. In doing so, something gold winked past his peripheral vision, fluttering past the South American Headmaster's cheek. Instinct sent him shooting forward before his mind caught up. Arkady leaned flat forward against the handle of his broomstick, chasing the Snitch while deftly avoiding collisions with the other players. He wasn't alone of course. As soon as he shot ahead, Decipio streaked after him from the opposite flank. "Ah, kurwa*." Perhaps Duelling had taught him one transferable skill after all: once something became a target, the rest of the world had a peculiar habit of disappearing. Unfortunately for Arkady however, the rest of the match was growing more and more violent and difficult to ignore. A sickening crack sounded somewhere behind him. Arkady glanced over his shoulder just in time to see Cazares tumble. Then another body fell. Stanwood. His grip tightened. What sort of fucking sport was this? Just as his attention returned to the pursuit at hand, he was helpless to the sight of a Bludger brutally colliding with Decipio, straight to the ribs. He yanked hard on his broom, losing precious time and momentum to watch her disappear beneath him. For one terrible second he considered diving after her, years of Healer training getting the best of him. His hands shook like a leaf, but as a Medic was called to her side, he quickly locked his gaze back onto the quickly receding speck of gold in front of him. The sooner he caught it, the sooner he could plant both feet on solid ground. Arkady resolved to stick to Duelling from now on. *Fuck [Polish] |
