Veda was excited. Nervous too, as she always was, but she was excited as well. When she saw another broom race sign up, she hastily put her name down. She knew how fast they fill out. She had done one other broom race by Alyss Gilmor, and that was probably the most fun she ever had last year.

On the day of the race, she grabbed her broom (the new one she bought for last time) and arrived to the track probably a bit too early. Sitting in the thankfully not too wet grass, she waited. She slowly saw the other team arriving, as well as some people from her team. Thankfully she knew most people from just seeing them around the hall. There were a few people she didn't know but that didn't bother her too much.

The race announcer, "Denise, maybe?" Veda thought, stepped up and said the normal beginning of the race things, and then stated she would be replaced sometime in the match with Sylvia Savage. That was a little odd to Veda, but who was she to say what was normal? She only had one match worth of experience after all.

Veda readied her broom and grinned. Even if they didn't win, this would be fun!

Alicia had been having an amazing summer so far. Summer camp was fun, and indeed she just came off from playing Quidditch. She remembered like it was yesterday how proud she had been to score her team fifty points right out of the gate. She had enjoyed it immensely, so that's why she signed up for this unofficial broom race. Signed up, however, without remembering that she still had a fear of heights. Specifically, the kind that could kill you if you fall from this height. But here she was and she climbed onto her broom to steady herself, clutching here wand tightly in the other hand. She knew that in broom racing you could cast spells so here she was, getting ready to cast spells at anyone and anything that got in her way for this race. She wanted to win this, and so she would do anything to win this even if it meant knocking a few people off their brooms. Alicia waited for the whistle to blow signalling the start of the race, and once it did sound, Alicia would take off doing her very best to put everything she had into this race, and try not to die while she was at it.

Yes, Winter is in the Slytherin broom racing team, but she NEVER joined a competition, she doesnt even know the rules yet. Well, its a learning opportunity though, also a chance for Winter to do some sports and make friends. Winter was still very worried. What if she accidentally fell down her broom and die? What if she made a mistake and made the team lose and made her teammates hate her and get bullied... again? She wanted to decline but her mother was behind her the whole time, she encouraged Winter to join. She looked at her muggle mother and sister's beady eyes, 'Ugh, they dont even know how to ride a broom, they wont know how hard and dangerous this could be. But i can NOT disobey my mother... ughhhh'

This girl was late.

She promised to be there in the first few minutes, but she is still not there. Now, Denise is moderating a match that she frankly has zero idea how to moderate. She played unofficial games before, but moderation? She has no idea what was going on.

It looks like Team Stormwake was already extremely ambitious, with having this tough and mean-looking auburn-haired girl alley-ooping Zephyr Deakin, already this early in the game. Denise had to admit that was a good choice, for Deakin is very experienced in broom racing himself.

She also saw this older girl cast Take Root on Ophelia Vanderbilt, having Ophelia's lower half of her body turn into a root, and there was now no way she could be knocked off her broom, though her evasion seemed hindered. She also saw an Asian boy attempt to blatch another Asian girl she didn't know, both much older, but he miserably failed.Now, after a while, it looked like Team Slytherpuffs; she has to wonder how the foreign and international team members agreed, attempted their own... well, is blatching a foul like Quidditch? Denise had no idea and let Veda Lunar, her first-year roommate, attempt to blatch Zephyr Deakin slide. She also saw a young boy, in this absurdly... is that even a broom?

He cast a spell, and she had no idea if it was even legal or not. Wait, what spells are legal? She had zero idea.Finally, they reached the Devil's Snare. Denise remembered being trapped in a Devil's Snare once in an unofficial Broom Racing match before and winched. It looked like that crazy little girl with the blonde hair, Winter Angelo, and Ophelia Vanderbilt got stuck. Especially, Vanderbilt was going at a speed a bit concerning to Denise, so she wasn't surprised.The older Asian girl, Henry Holbrook, who had to witness a catastrophic one-sided story with this "Florida-nation" boy during that spring's CTF (well, she really hoped there was no romance now ruining her match, which she had zero idea how to moderate), and Harumi Everdane were flying just behind Zephyr Deakin, who was leading ahead.

She looked around nervously; she clearly didn't say anything, but perhaps maybe a note to warn Sylvia about the consequences of love during a sports match.

• Raphael successfully casts Leg-Locker Curse on Alicia, therefore, Alicia auto-fails Vines and Devil's Snare obstacles for 3 rounds and suffers -2 Accuracy for 3 rounds (ROUND 2, 3, AND 4).
• Winter, Zyva and Ophelia fail to pass the accuracy DC (or in Ophelia's case, she auto-misses due to traveling at speed 6 with a Nimbus 1000), and therefore must take an action to release themselves from the Devil's Snare next round.
• Kanae, Henry, Harumi and Zephyr successfully make it to Unit 5 or 6.
