Jay completely agreed with what Stelle was saying, after all Jay didn’t like normal things, they were boring. If she had to choose a messy life over a normal life, she would pick messy every time.
“You don’t have to apologize. And besides, I think I like it when people get a little lost in thought. It means there’s something interesting in there.” Stelle shook her head when Jay apologised for drifting away into her mind.
There isn’t really a whole lot going on in my sleep deprived brain but hey if that’s a compliment I’ll take it
She thought, noticing that Stelle’s attention once more flicked to her hair, Jay understood it was fascinating how her body could change, after all she had been a bit like that when her body had first changed in the school library. It had been exiting and new and different for Jay. One of her first real links to magic. But now it was just another part of her identity that existed, she didn’t think much of it.
“Although now you've got me thinking about something else," Stelle continued, pointing to her own curly blonde hair. "If you could change the color or style of my hair however you wanted, what do you think would suit me?" She asked and Jay tilted her head.
She liked this question, mainly because it was one she could answer with upmost confidence and certainty. There was also the fact that this question had no right answer. It all depends on your own personal opinions and preferences.
“Well,” she started, focusing on the question “If you wanted to straighten it, a little streak of color would look nice,” [/color]
Like… maybe a lavender? Or soft pink? A lighter color would definitely work well, like it’s fading into her hair or something
Jay couldn’t quite picture it, nor explain what she meant so to make things easier Jay used her ability to mimic the style of Stelle’s hair best she could but instead of curls she made it straight, in hope that the length would be similar to what Stelle’s would be.
“Uh, ok let’s try this,” she muttered, picking up a strand of hair and as she touched it, a soft lavender hue ran up the strand and stayed there, it wasn’t too bright, like the half and half neon pink and brown Jay had last year.
Then again, I’m just bright and color isn’t exactly for everyone
She placed a hand on the strand again, this time it changed to a soft, bubblegum pink. Jay felt this might be a bit better, as it was lighter and less likely to cause a stir if Stelle was worried about reactions from her family.
“Well, apart from straightening it, a bit of color could be a fun experiment or something, you could put it in the back of your hair so you could hide it if you wanted” she said, her hair slowly shortening back to its normal mess of blonde “I am going to point out that with your blonde hair, blue eyes and paleish complexion, dying hair isn’t always the right move” she shrugged. Dying hair with harsh chemicals was also a bad idea, mainly because if you used too much it would kill your hair.
I mean… duh if it’s a shitty box dye then yeah…
“Your hair is also fucking beautiful and I don’t want to kill it with harsh dyes by accident or anything like that” Jay pointed out, making sure that Stelle understood the risks she might be taking by dying her hair. “There are organic dyes you can get but they don’t last as long, I like to use box dye because my hair is already past the point of return” she laughed, thinking about the amount of times she had dyed and bleached her hair in the past four years.
“Anyways, to answer your question I would say a definite yes to straightening it, don’t get me wrong your curls are beautiful but straightening it will look amazing too” she said, making sure she didn’t offend Stelle “and if you really want to add color? Well I suggest a light lavender or a baby pink, just a few thin strips or even just one on the underside of your hair”
