For the second time that year, Phyllis had journeyed across the Atlantic Ocean. Last time had been pretty bad, what with the mess that was the Masked Ball. The redhead had had to admire Hogwarts' ability to attract half-giants and near-death experiences in general, but she preferred being a spectator to those disasters. The only good thing about the trip was that their ridiculous Headmaster hadn't come back with them. Suspicious, sure, but what did she care? He was an idiot.
The school year had been boring. No surprise there. It was like the classes were asking them to fall asleep. The Thunderbird had gotten multiple letters from her mother about how she had to have perfect grades and was disgracing the family blah blah blah. So she didn't care about Phyllis are a person but expected straight O's. Gee, thanks mom. On the bright side, she'd learned Incendio. Burning those letters and continuing to disappoint her mom had pretty much been the highlight of the year, except for Quidditch and pranking with her friends, obviously.
As much as she enjoyed ticking her mother off, though, she hadn't actually failed any classes. She'd put in just enough effort to get straight Acceptables, no more, no less. No use having to repeat those boring classes. And, dare she admit it, some of the spells were a little bit cool. She wasn't too great at casting any of them, but, for the non-existent record, she never slept during practical lessons.
Summer was now here. You'd think a girl like Phyllis would be dying to get to summer break, but she hadn't. In fact, she'd dreaded it. Going home to her Dark Arts obsessed trashy pureblood mother--bleh. Not fun. But now she got to go watch Quidditch, and even if it was with danger-bringing Hogwarts students, of course she was coming. I mean--Quidditch! The greatest thing wizard-kind ever made! She'd still rather play, and watching two other schools of kids her age compete didn't sound too fascinating. But whatever. At least she didn't have to wear a dress this time.
Strolling into the all-school barbeque, Phyllis looked ready for trouble. Not really on purpose. She just always looked like a teacher's worst nightmare. Glinting eyes, mischievous smile. The outfit probably didn't help, what with the skulls and combat boots. Luckily for them, though, for once she didn't have any delinquent plans. She just wanted to meet some kids from the other schools. Ask around if a Hogwarts student had died yet. See if those Durmstrang kids really were evil and practiced dark magic. Find out who the general public thought would win the Match.
Phyllis wasn't known for being all that observant and the fact both of her friends were tiny didn't really help, but it didn't look like KK or Strid were there yet. Eh, no problem. Unlike my other character some people, she had no problem just striking up a conversation.
No one in particular who'd arrived so far caught her eye as all that interesting... wait a minute, was that a boy eating raw meat [Howard White]? Cool. Perhaps the normal person would've found him scary [Unsettling Aura], noticed that he just didn't look like he wanted to talk to anyone, or decided they'd rather not approach someone with red eyes who was eating completely uncooked hamburger meat, but Phyllis was not a normal person. For one, she was completely fearless, or perhaps better described as a complete idiot.
Whatever the reason, the redhead had bee-lined over to the food tables. "Hey! Are you eating raw meat?" Ah, yes, what a wonderful way to introduce yourself. As far as first years went, or rather incoming second years, Phyllis wasn't completely immature and clueless. That didn't mean she was smart though. "I'm Phyllis." Well that was a bit better. It looked like she hadn't ditched all of her aristocrat manners. "From Ilvermorny. Lemme guess... you're from Durmstrang?" Her best guess since with those red eyes he had to be some sort of creepy evil person and Durmstrang was where all the creepy evil people went. The question was, why did she find it necessary to talk to someone she'd classified as creepy and evil? Perhaps she had a death wish.

Welcome BBQ
The sun was setting and Gargott found himself inside of the giant barrel that housed the grill. He wasn't much of a social guy, in fact he preferred to be all on his own, yet Professor Browne had asked him to help out at the barbecue and refusing wasn't much of an option as he was only hired a few days ago. In fact, it would be a great opportunity to get to know some of the students and Professors. Although the temperature outside was dropping, though it still being warm enough, Gargott was already sweating. A meaty hand stroke over his head to strike his unkempt hair backwards and then follow it up to brush off some sweat that was forming on his forehead. Having helped the Professors set up this barbeque was more then he had done in years. Thus he had decided to treat himself with a hamburger. As none of the students had passed by the Barrelcue, it was the perfect opportunity. Sizzling the sausage and hamburger were dropped on the hot plate. Water started to form in the Part-Goblin's mouth as the plate was filled with vegetables and hamburger buns.
Suddenly a question was directed towards him, quickly he turned to see the Hufflepuff Head of House looking at him. The large man showed a thumbs up to let him know that everything was fine. "Did he already figure out what I'm doing? Well, I didn't do anything wrong, that's for sure..." Shaking his head he quickly forgot it and once again focused on what was important, the meat, as he didn't want it to get burned. After a minute, the metal tweezers placed the hamburger on the bottom side of his bun and the sausage was dropped right next to the hamburger.
"What an excellent idea of Caradoc to place me near the grill!" At the thought, his lips started to form into a grin, which made him reveal his sharp and pointy teeth. The plate in his right hand he left the Barrelcue and sat himself down on his chair near the Barrelcue. As soon as he wanted to take a bite, he was interrupted. A woman had neared him whilst he had been occupied with something more important. Beautiful, long white hair dressed in a pink dress. A dashing presence indeed, yet Gargott didn't have eye for any of it. "Not at the moment." He grumbled. "Most of the students aren't around just yet. But if you are willing you could help out a bit once it gets busier? Just follow my lead here and get a plate while you still can." As soon as he finished the sentence the man took a big bite from his hamburger as he said with a filled mouth: "Its really good!"

The Summer festivities had snuck up on Kateri. In fact the last part of term since her arrival at Hogwarts had flown by between tests and settling in, even the aftermath of the ball and meeting with a handful of students. All of which had been a welcomed distraction from other thoughts plaguing the young woman’s mind lately. Dealing with her family and house back in Scotland would have to wait. Today, she was on drink duty, among other things. The staff really had done a wonderful job in preparation for the celebration of summer and other non-Hogwarts students. Caradoc and Dunaid had been a joy to work with and she had been able to get closer to one of the newer Hufflepuff Prefects, Saskia. Kateri had been anxious to see students from Illvermorny, fond memories of her time there shifted her lips into a smile. Even Durmstrang, a place she had yet to travel to, curious how they would view their time here. Despite all that had happened in the last portion of the spring term, Kateri was hopeful for Summer. The promise of a fresh start and closing of a chapter for many both students and staff including her.
Having gotten up much earlier than she had anticipated with the anxious tugging at her insides and excitement for the start of Summer, Kat had gotten herself dressed in some old corduroy shorts and t-shirt. They looked nice enough and presentable but in case of condiments or drinks spilling, dirt smudges or grass stains, she wouldn’t be too disappointed if they had a stain or two. Plus, they were comfortable and reminded her of the summers back home in New York. Tucking the white tee into the waist of her shorts, she hung a pair of sunglasses off the belt loop and tied her hair into two long braids. A pair of multicolored Keen sandals strapped around her feet and felt hat with a small feather tucked into the strap in hand, Kateri made her way back to the BBQ area from her tent. She had taken a minute to return and drop some things off in the tent, extra clothes for the time at camp and another bag of books with some belongings she had decided were safer inside the tent than on her person.
Crossing the setup for the BBQ and hangout spots, Kateri made her way back to the drink stand area. Tossing a couple more drinks into one of the coolers, Kat set her hat on her head and pushed it down snug to hold her braids in place. Or at least make an attempt to. Her hair had gotten so long some days it felt more troublesome than worth keeping but... she couldn’t bring herself to consider cutting it. Kneeling down, her hand pushed ice over some cans of soda that still felt slightly warm. It hadn’t felt insanely hot or humid today, perfect for enjoying the time outside and freedom of Summer. Even with the enchantments and convenience that magic held, it didn’t feel quite like a BBQ without a cooler chock full of ice as well as some popsicles she had gotten for the day to hand out. Pushing the cooler against the stand that sat under the small pop-up Sort of a tent cover with 4 open sides and metal legs, the woman’s brown eyes scanned the BBQ area. Not too many faces yet, Santario Martin was busy taking pictures, Caradoc posing in an interesting manner, another Head of House, Nora was making her way into the mix and a couple other students found their way over.
She turned to go over a table that had veggies on it and placed a finger to her chin. They had a headcount of students that would attend and certainly had enough supplies. Bowls of different salads sat next to any toppings and separated veggies students might need in order to create their own salad should they choose or need to with dietary restrictions. Reaching for one of the cucumbers she decided to slice another, having dipped into the bowl herself, temptation had gotten the best of her! She grinned knowing all too well how children were when it came to food and being wound up together. Hopefully though the worst of things would be a fight over the last burger, nothing more. Looking around for Saskia she caught sight of Dunaid not too far off from the grill, talking to Nora and appearing as if he had already began to dig in for the day. The thought of a tasty burger made her stomach rumble slightly. She really shouldn’t have skipped on breakfast. Waiting for the Prefect, Kateri chewed on the end of the cucumber after letting go of a long sigh. Ahh, summer.

Ah, summer. That time of the year where the sun shone the hardest and its rays burned people's skin alive. No, not really. Although sunburns were a pain to deal with. But what was more important was that school was finally over. The graduation ceremony had come to pass, and Saskia was now an official third year. It really wasn't an exaggeration that time flew by so quickly. It only felt like yesterday that she was appointed as the Quidditch Captain of her team, and with three victories under her team's belt, she had retired and recently became a Prefect. She had taken the new changes with a stride, although she did have to admit it was a quick turn of events. One minute she was in charge of coming up with team strategies and the next, she was patrolling and making sure kids didn't get into too much trouble. It was one responsibility after the other, and she would have kept doing her job well after the third year as well.
One part of the job included helping out in the events that the school would be holding. The summer camp was expected to have quite a lot of students, considering the number of people looking forward to the match between Hogwarts and the school that was coming over to town. Durmstrang. Saskia only knew a little about the other school, notably that they were allowed to practice the dark arts. Personally, she didn't think it was that bad that they practiced dark magic. So what if it was a taboo? The dark arts was still a kind of magic that people could use. There was no point in shying away from that. In fact, it was actually pretty ironic, considering how Hogwarts didn't even need the dark arts to have disasters come their way, if the recent Balls were an indication of such. But then again, she didn't know what the Durmstrang kids went through. They could have went through some pretty bad stuff and they were forced to come out on top to survive. Must have been why Durmstrang had a reputation for not being for the faint of the heart.
But rumours were nothing compared to the real thing. The Durmstrang kids were coming over soon, and the first event of the summer camp was the BBQ. It was expected that kids from both Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Ilvermorny (how they still wanted to send their kids after the previous debacle was a mystery to her) would be attending this one. They would have been expecting many kids to come over for this one. After all, who couldn't resist roasted meat on a grill and some comfortable seating by the fire? It also would have been a great way to get to know the students from the other schools, and that was always pretty fun. Together, with Professor Browne, Professor Karr, and the new Groundskeeper, she would have helped out in organizing the event.
Thankfully, Saskia hadn't been late to the event. With the last of the supplies, she rushed back to the campsite, only to find that a few people had already walked in. Her eyes met San's, who was holding a camera in her hands. Without even thinking about it, she made a smile for the camera. Once that was done, she continued her way towards the drink stands, plates and cups in her arms, and placed them beside the already prepared food and drinks.
"Hi, Professor Karr! Hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long. Is there anything else that needs to be taken cared of?" she asked, giving a brief glance around the campsite before looking back at the professor.

These Hogwarts people certainly did things differently than Durmstrang. To be perfectly honest, Alexei had no idea why he was there. He wasn't on the Quidditch team, rather hated the sport. He violently disliked most of his schoolmates, so why would he have chosen to join this? The answer was fairly simple. Networking. Sure, he was barely fourteen, but it was never too early to start networking. Most everyone at Durmstrang knew his family and he was constantly referred to as "Leo's littlest" or "Boris' baby brother" or "little Petrov". He was beyond sick of it. Here though, he was actually able to stand on his own. Nobody knew his family, and nobody was immune to his charm just yet.
At this point, most of the Durmstrang girls knew and disliked him. Mostly because he had charmed them or their friend and supposedly been less than a perfect gentleman. He thought they were being dramatic, seeing as he had only made a few of them cry when he had moved on to a new girl. Any Durmstrang girl who wasn't a first year knew and even Alexei was beyond fooling around with first years. Hogwarts girls though...
He didn't see any girls pretty enough to tempt him just yet though, so for the moment, he would settle for grabbing some food. After winkling his nose at several options, he finally selected a hamburger and scanned the group again for someone to talk to.
Long story short, I survived

rping as iNPC Maksim Preobrazhensky [x] interacting with Vyacheslav Preobrazhensky (@Ruby Cazares), Caradoc Browne, Kateri Karr, and Saskia Nicholson.
open to other interactions, especially from Hogwarts! If dialogue is in italics, Maksim is speaking in Russian.Maksim could feel an aggressive rumbling coming from the very depths of his belly that could only mean one thing: he was starving. Which didn't really make sense, as he'd had a light snack of an orange just ten minutes before, but that was teen boys' appetites for you. Frowning slightly as he placed his hand on his stomach, he turned to his brother, Vyacheslav, who sat beside him in their tent. Maksim had no idea where his other three tentmates were, but he also didn't really care, as he wasn't particularly close with any of them. Really, he only knew the three other boys by how they presented themselves: Oberoi (@Serena Towers), the hot and buff, but slightly cocky Indian who he tried to avoid when possible; Hexum (@Pericles Dralt), who was quite the annoying little shrimp; and Novikov (@Adam Harringtom), who was the only one of the other three that he was even remotely close to being on a first-name basis with.
"Slava," he sighed melodramatically, elbowing his brother gently. It was always a coin flip on whether or not Vyacheslav was actually listening when you spoke to him, although Maksim usually had better luck than most people. "I'm hungry. Starving. Let's go find some food... something out there smells incredible." Indeed, as the smell of cooking meat at Hogwarts' BBQ reminded him, with a pang, of his own mother's cooking.
Getting to his feet, Maksim lead the way out of their tent, glancing around before deciding to simply follow his senses, as there were no immediate explanations as to why it smelled so amazing out here. Spotting plumes of smoke and sniffing the air experimentally, Maksim nudged Slava gently and pointed towards the direction of the smells and smoke. "It must be coming from over there," he reasoned, before immediately heading in the direction of all the tantalizing sensory stimulants. His stomach growled loudly as the Preobrazhenskys speed-walked, as if painfully reminding him how badly it needed nourishment.
Finally, the pair reached the site of the barbecue, and Maksim could already feel himself salivating at all the sights and smells... and the people! "Brother," he said slowly, glancing around at the swarm of faces he didn't recognize. "I don't think this is Durmstrang's food site..." His eyes lit up at the sight of all of the pretty girls wandering around, and he elbowed Slava excitedly. "But I don't mind... not at all. Wow, Slava. Look at all the girls!"
His ears perking up at all of the chattering in English, his already wide, anticipating grin stretched wider, and he practically beamed at Vyacheslav. "Hogwarts students!" he exclaimed. "We can finally use our English, and you can scope out the competition! Do you think the girls will like men with accents?" Pfft, like they could even be considered men at all. Boys, that's what they were- and Maksim was an incredibly hungry teenage boy.
"Food first," he decided, "Then we chat. I'm sure the Hogwarts professors won't mind, there seems to be plenty to go around." Marching over to the tables with the meat and skewers. Grabbing a patty and a skewer of chicken cubes, Maksim pointedly ignored all the vegetables and fruits. "This smells incredible," he said with a content smile, before making his way over to a tall, unassuming man. In fact, he kind of reminded him of his own father... no, Aleksandr Preobrazhensky was far more handsome than @Caradoc Browne.
Flashing a brilliant, blinding smile at the man manning the grill, Maksim offered his plate up to him. "Hello!" he said cheerfully, his Russian accent lilting and almost musical. "Are you the one who cooks the meat for all the students?" Pointing at the patty, he said rather haltingly, "Uh, I would like my... meat to be... medium-rare? I do not know how to say medium-rare in English... A bit pink! A little bit pink on the inside." Maksim's ever-present smile grew even wider, as he was clearly proud of himself for working his way around the language barrier with elegance and grace. "Thank you, sir! If you do not care, I would like to find a beverage," he added, gesturing towards @Kateri Karr and @Saskia Nicholson. "I will return soon, sir!"
He had lost sight of Slava, for the moment, although Maksim didn't worry too much. While both boys were nowhere near fluent, they knew enough English to be able to navigate around such a sizeable gathering of native English speakers. Heading towards the table of refreshments, Maksim glanced from the small, rather unassuming girl to the strangely dressed woman. He'd never seen clothes like hers, before! Did all women at Hogwarts dress in such a manner? Surely not, she seemed to be the only one dressed strangely, so far.
"Hello, ladies!" Maksim exclaimed, clapping his hands together in excitement. "You both look quite lovely... I like your hat, miss!" he added, nodding at Kateri with a smile. "I wish I had hats as lovely as the one you wear! But alas, I do not. But I would like a drink! Perhaps some ale?" His eyes darting from Karr to Nicholson, he suddenly burst out in a fit of laughter. "I am only yanking your legs!" he crowed, wiping imaginary tears from his eyes. "Of course, I do not drink ale. What a silly thought! No, but I would like some soda, if you have any."
Glancing around, Maksim waved to his brother wildly, hopefully drawing his attention. "Slava!" he yelled, waving exuberantly. "I think they have soda! Come over here, the girl is quite pretty."slight god-modding of vyacheslav (walking from tent to bbq site) is approved of.

It had been far too long since she had last been to an event like this. Recently, Frost had spent much of her time at home with her family and with her nose deep into school books. Now that it was summer, she had thought a social event would be a nice way of welcoming the break. This year's summer camp especially excited her. The thought of being able to meet new people from another magical school made a warm and fizzy feeling bubble in her chest.
Summer breezes tickled her cheeks and nose as they brushed past her. The air was warm and the sunlight of the setting sun shone on her, melting any icy stress away into nothing. Frost beamed, a single dimple displayed on her right cheek. Laughter and ambient chatter built up in her ears as she grew closer to the main crowd of the barbecue. The smells of delicious food dragged her in like a cartoon character.
Frost made sure to greet any familiar faces and made her way through the maze of people in a polite manner. Her ginger hair had been tied back into a ponytail with a simple ribbon, a habit that she had adopted into her style. This was the type of weather that made her want to have picnics and laugh with friends. Not to mention the outfits she was able to wear in warm weather. over the past half a year or so, Frost had developed a liking to fashion and whatnot. Though she was -and always will be- a hardcore herbology nerd, at least now she would be a fashionable herbology nerd.
Even though Quidditch was never her thing, Frost couldn't deny that she had always found it quite cool. She had even wanted to play Quidditch when she was younger. Some of her friends played, which ensued her coming to every game her friends had. Especially since it was her house team playing against Durmstrang, she absolutely had to attend the summer camp. It was like, guaranteed fun times, right?
After finding the main food areas, Frost grabbed a small plate of salad and a chicken skewer. Glancing around at all the students around her, the redhead smiled, radiating positivity and pure brightness, of course. Noticing a boy who was looking a little bit lonely, it was only a 'Frost' thing to go up and talk to him. As she walked over to the boy who was a fair amount taller than she was, Frost waved and smiled, her head tilted to the side.
"Hello!" She beamed, practically glowing with that cinnamon roll energy. One of her delicate and quite pale hands extended out to him in a greeting. "I don't think I've seen you around at Hogwarts before, are you a Durmstrang student?"✿

Interacting with @Caradoc Browne and @Ami ProcoppioLucia did indeed follow her head of house towards the barbeque, with the reasoning that - well, she didn't really have any reasoning. Who needed reasoning in order to get good food?
As the pair reached the barrel-stand, Professor Browne talking to a few students along the way, the girl laughed at the pun - barrelque, really - and tried to decide what food she wanted, though the choice was hard. At home when they had similar barbeques, there would usually be just one option, but here there seemed to be hundreds!
"I don't know..." she said aloud, in response to the professor's question of what she would prefer. "What would you -"
But her question was cut short by a boy with dark skin and curly hair, who cut in to say something to Browne in a lilting Russian accent.
When he had finished speaking, Lucia leaned in to the conversation, her long hair falling into her eyes. Maybe she should have tied it up after all. She tucked a few strands behind her ears to keep them out of the way.
"Are you from Durmstrang?" she asked curiously, although there was really no need. With an accent like that, where else could the boy have hailed from?

═ ∘◦❦◦∘ ═"Come on Ari. By the time we get there all the food will be gone." Lizzie dragged Ariana's arm along with her as they neared the BBQ. She had been so hungry and the train the London but had decided against eating anything because she didn't want to ruin her apatite for the good food coming her way. She pulled on Ariana's arm and moved over to the area where the food was being held.
Lizzie herself had not planned going to the summer camp until Zykeal had brought it up at their little date that the Monkey and Shark had invaded. It had been a lovely evening but it was just a coincidence the Ravenclaw had noticed her boyfriend sitting all alone with a steaming hot cup around his hands.
She looked down at the food that had been set out. She didn’t necessarily want anything hot. It was more like she had the craving for a lot of fruit. Even if it didn't fill her up she could always go back for more and maybe even get something hot after that.
She grabbed a bowl and just poured a few different fruits in it. It included strawberries, raspberries, a few orange and apple pieces and a handful of grapes. She looked towards Ari and smiled letting out a breath. "I am so excited about all of this. I especially can't wait to go stargazing." She bounced on her heels and looked around for anyone she could interact with other then one of her tent mates.
"I bet it is going to be a magical night." She grinned and scanned the crowd once again spotting someone quite close who looked pretty alone. She grabbed Ari's wrist not caring if she had gotten food yet or not and bounced off towards the boy she had not seen around Hogwarts.
Looking back towards her friend she let go of Ariana's wrist and squeaked out, "Oops, I'm sorry." She laughed and continued to walk towards the person she had latched eyes on. She quickly skipped off knwoing her Gryffindor friend would follow along after her as she literally had nothing better to do with her life. Lizzie watched as another girl approached him but did not falter her strides and continued towards them both.
"Hello. You both look a bit lonely." She said looking up at the boy and girl. She had now come to the conclusion that he was not from Hogwarts at all it was probably either Ilvermorny or Dumstrang. "I'm Lizzie. Lizzie Verdine." She balanced her bowl on one hand and stretched the other one out hopping that one of them would return the kind gesture. She turned her head towards were her friend would be and waved her over quickly.

When it came to Quidditch, Colt wasn't that much of a large fan. When it came to the general feeling of mass hype for sports in general, the boy loves such an atmosphere. So, of course, it wasn't a surprise to find the sun-kissed child joining some of his classmates to support their Ilvermorny team. After all, it's a chance to see what the other Wizarding Schools look like. He heard that Hogwarts was posher and more polished compared to Ilvermorny, so maybe it'd be fun to get them to loosen up?
If one were to look at the Pukwudgie boy at first glance, they'd think he'd look rather grimy. They would be correct. His tie isn't properly fixed. In fact, the thin part of it is sticking out like a sore thumb. Some of the buttons on his vest are mismatched, done in the wrong holes. His pants are no exception to the blonde boy's untidiness. One leg is half-folded, insinuating that it was folded but it didn't finish at the back. The other is not only rolled out, the edges of it were stained with dirt. Despite all of this, Colt smelled rather decent. Nothing too distinct, though other students that were near him started to wonder if they were beside a beach because he smelled similar to the ocean breeze.
The first thing Colt did was, of course, get a couple of cutleries before heading over to the food section. The first thing he grabbed with the tongs that were displayed beside the labeled food was a classic hearty steak. The BBQ was almost familiar to him, as his family usually has casual BBQ dinners since their home had such open space. His eyes wandered around for the other options. He glanced at the vegan burgers, wondering if they're just as good as the real thing. With a casual shrug, he scooped a slice, figured that it's a good time as any to broaden his horizons. he then sauntered over to the side dishes, he picked out a couple of veggies, mostly small tomatoes, picking one of them with his fingers and popping it in his mouth.
