First Meetings in the Park
It was a clear, rather warm summer's day on the weekend and a nine year old Morgan Faughn was heading to the park accompanied by his older brother, Adrian Faughn. Morgan had been wanting to go all week and their mother had finally convinced Adrian to take his little brother out for at least a little while. Arriving, there were a few people about especially near the playground but the young green-eyed boy's focus was on one particularly big tree.

Perhaps it was odd, but he liked going to the park to sit under that grand old tree and just simply read or work on his little collection's journal. Today, he had brought both in his little backpack and before he could head towards the tree, Adrian stopped him and said, "Alright, I assume you're going to just go read right? Mam said to be back in an hour or two but, until then, have fun or... whatever you do Morgs. I'll be close to that bench right there alright?" Adrian pointed to a nearby bench and Morgan nodded slightly. His brother smiled and ruffled his hair slightly before moving towards the bench while he moved towards the tree.
Sitting down in the grass, he put his backpack on the ground and carefully took out the book he had brought and began reading through it, his back against the tree. After a short amount of time, he looked up to see what his brother was doing, simply expecting Adrian to just be on his phone, but was slightly surprised to see that his brother had actually moved slightly closer to the playground and was talking with someone, a guy who looked at least closer to Adrian's age but a bit taller perhaps. He didn't recognize the guy but, Morgan knew his brother knew lots of people although this guy looked far more put together than Adrian's usual friends.
He noticed the guy point towards the playground, specifically towards a young boy who was playing with dark hair and dark eyes that looked about Morgan's age. He assumed the boy and guy were probably related to each other, and as Morgan tried to think about who the guy was, he had a vague thought about someone that Adrian had mentioned a few times meeting.
A little while ago, Adrian had mentioned that he had met a guy at the local bookstore while looking for school books. He also remember his brother mentioning that the guy had a younger brother who was his age and, because of that, maybe they might be in the same class together at some point. Looking at the guy more, he did seem to fit the description his brother had given before although Morgan couldn't for the life of him remember the names Adrian had said before. Morgan had never been much good at remembering names.
Morgan noticed his brother now pointing towards his direction, most likely explaining to the guy that the odd kid by the tree was his little brother, and when Adrian noticed Morgan was looking at them, he waved at his brother slightly. He waved back towards his older brother which seemed to be all he wanted as he turned back to the dark-eyed man.
Opening his book again, he went back to reading but his eyes couldn't help but wander up from the pages and back to the dark-eyed boy on the playground who he was still assuming was the man's possible brother. Perhaps he was staring a bit too much with his green eyes but his curiosity did often outweigh his... social sense perhaps.

First Meetings in the Park

@Morgan Faughn // June 15, 2024, Swansea
As a kid who absolutely loved the outdoors, Philip had been begging and pestering his older brother Levin for a proper weekend outing for some time already. While Potioneers were somewhat freelance, Levin was almost always busy looking over his precious little bubbly mixtures, and always hurrying back from various places to check on them, which Philip found rather annoying. Eventually, much to Philip's delight - oh, he knew so clearly that Lev couldn't refuse any request from him - Levin said that this Saturday would be okay. A park wasn't a very inventive idea, but Philip was pretty content with it.
He immediately fell in love with the park as soon as he set foot on it, letting out a merry squeal. Eagerly observing his surroundings, Philip soon came to the conclusion that this was a dream place: not crowded nor deserted, with a marvellous playground and wonderful greening... As they headed towards the playground, Levin was with all that tender smile and hugged him closer for a moment before letting him go, as well as a light pat on his head. "Go ahead, Phil. You could play as long as you want."
Philip darted out, already having what he was gonna focus on for the next hour or so in mind. It was when he found Levin did not follow, and instead waved at a figure and moved towards that person's direction. Confused, he shouted out from behind. "You aren't coming, Lev?" This was not exactly what Philip imagined. He spent a whole night making a hard decision on whether they should play catch or play on the swings! Apparently, he wasn't going to get an answer, as his brother was already engaged in a lively-looking conversation with the intruder. Oh.
Levin turned and pointed at him before engaging in the conversation again, and Philip finally got to see the person Levin's back had been blocking his view of. While his memory was vague, he somewhat remembered his brother meeting someone around his age in a bookstore - a muggle one; that's the perk of having a muggle-born mother, he guessed - and they had a nice talk together. Guess what? He also has a brother of your age! Philip could remember Levin telling him this with excitement. Huh. Brother talks, then?
His assumption was confirmed when the guy - Faughn, if he recollected correctly - gestured at a tree. Following the movement, he spotted a boy of his age sitting yonder with a book. A book...! Philip was slightly amazed for a moment (parks are for playing, right?), then continued his bold watch from the playground. Oh. He might have caught a pair of green eyes glimpsing at him, and Philip was not going to let a possible new acquaintance flee.
Inching closer, he approached the sitting boy. "Hi!" He tried to catch the boy's attention, straightforwardly and confidently with a bright smile on his face. "You are called Faughn, right?" Philip was usually good with names, but he did truly forget those brothers' first names (if they were mentioned by Levin, that was). If he had known that he would meet them in person one day - he could never imagine himself walking into a book shop voluntarily - he would have paid more attention. "That's my brother." A point at Levin. "And I bet that's yours?"
He hesitated for a moment, eventually deciding to ask what had been on his mind as soon as he caught a glimpse of the boy. "You are reading...in a park?" Philip inquired genuinely, eyes lowering to the opened book. "Aw, actually, that's pretty cool. Lev always tells me to read more, but most of the time it's kinda boring - well, for me. Guess I'm not that material." He wrinkled his nose. "Hey, I totally forgot to say! My name is Philip. Philip Rosser."

First Meetings in the Park
The dark-eyed boy had approached Morgan, catching him slightly off guard at just how straightforward he was. He wasn't exactly used to people just coming straight up to him and initiating conversations. Although, he supposed he had been staring at him rather intently though so, perhaps he had brought it upon himself. After all, he supposed him someone had been staring at him for a prolonged period of time he too would perhaps go up to them to see if they required anything or at least figure out why they had been staring.
When the boy introduced himself, Morgan did register the last name, now remembering that his brother had mentioned the name Rosser before which confirmed what he had previously thought about who this boy and the other guy were. Closing his book slightly and bringing it closer he quietly introduced himself, figuring it would probably be rude to not, "Oh um... hello I guess. And yes I'm Faughn, my name is Morgan Faughn and yes that's my brother Adrian over there talking to your brother um.... It's nice to meet you." His words were a bit of a mess and he was certainly mumbling a slight bit in that dull tone that his voice often was, gripping the book slightly tighter to calm his nerves.
He had never been great at being social, although it wasn't because he disliked interacting with people, he just had a hard time with it which did lead to him sometimes getting a little more nervous at times. Of course, his nerves often came across as being a bit more stand-offish and outright disinterested in conversation with people which was very rarely his intent alas he couldn't always help it.
"And I don't know if me reading is particularly cool but... um thanks anyway I suppose. My brother says I shouldn't read as much actually and should play at the park most of the time when we come here so um... I suppose I understand. It's just in the opposite direction I guess" he continued, green-eyes meeting Philip's dark-eyes for a second before averting his gaze to the ground slightly. His words were a bit of a jumbled mess and he really wasn't sure if what he said made any sense but he was trying his best.

First Meetings in the Park

@Morgan Faughn // June 15, 2024, Swansea
Morgan (What a fine name! Philip was decidedly a bit plain compared to that.) closed his book when he introduced himself, and Philip almost immediately fell for that polite mannerism. He had an instinctive feeling that he would make a nice acquaintance - while Philip himself wasn't exactly the type of well-behaved child, his parents had been instructing him so since a young age, and he had always admired those who actually stuck to the rules and all that. This boy - Morgan - seemed to be one of them.
While Morgan seemed a bit nervous about all this, Philip was not. Thrilled to finally meet someone of his age - now he knew where Levin's excitement came from, as ever since they moved to Swansea they had been somewhat isolated, and wizard kids didn't usually have that privilege to go to primary schools - Philip was basically squealing. "I love your name!" He told him, straightforwardly. Philip was not someone who tended to conceal his thoughts, so he said it out loud, not caring the slightest if this was the right timing or if it would seem awkward. "And your brother's. Your parents are like naming se-" He stopped, a bit abruptly. Naming seers were not something a muggle could understand, and he had no idea if there were muggle equivalents of them existing. Mam and Levin hadn't talked about this, at least not for Philip to remember. While he couldn't recall it clearly, it was highly possible that Levin had mentioned that the Faughn brothers were not magical at some point, and Philip decided that it was probably better to be cautious. "I mean, they come up with great names!"
He blinked, eyelashes fluttering as he stared at Morgan. "Of course, it is cool." Morgan still seemed timid, and Philip tilted his head, meeting those emerald eyes as the other boy spoke. "And mine - his name's Levin - says the complete opposite." He said lightly, plopping down next to Morgan self-invitedly. Philip turned to face the other boy, shrugging. "Well, I have to agree with yours on this one. You should definitely play! What's a playground without play?"
Philip felt a bit off when Morgan averted his gaze - was he being pushy and obnoxious? He hesitated for a moment, before offering, "Or maybe you could introduce me to some interesting books...while we play?" The last three words were added quietly and a bit hesitantly, but clearly, restless and adventurous as he was, Philip wasn't willing to give up playing on such a nice sunny day.

First Meetings in the Park
The green-eyed boy couldn't help but shrink back slightly, somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of energy the boy in front of him had. It wasn't that he was afraid or didn't particularly want to interact it was more that he just wasn't great at the whole social thing. "Oh um... thanks, I don't think my name's anything that great but um... thanks I suppose," he responded softly at Philip's remark about his name. His eyes continued to look slightly at the ground he glanced slightly back up for a moment as Philip said he should go play at the playground. Morgan wasn't really sure about this but... Philip seemed nice enough, and his offer to play and maybe talk about books did pique Morgan's curiosity slightly, even if he wasn't entirely sure that Philip actually wanted to talk about books he could appreciate the offer at the very least.
He supposed that maybe it would be rude to decline, after all, he supposed he could read later and it probably would make his brother happy if he actually interacted with someone instead of just staying by himself like usual. It wasn't really like he had ever been good at making friends or doing things with kids his own age, after all, usually if he hung out with people it would just be his siblings and even then deep down he knew they only really did it because they felt bad about leaving him out of things. Biting the inside of his cheek slightly as he worked up to answering Philip, his green eyes looked back up to meet the brown eyes of the boy in front of him and he softly said, "A...Alright, I suppose we could play. And w...we don't have to talk a...about books if you don't actually want to."
Morgan wasn't going to drag the poor boy into a conversation that might bore him and Morgan knew that he could ramble about books for awhile so it was probably for the best if he didn't get started talking about them. Pushing his dark hair back slightly, it immediately falling back to it's usual messy state, he carefully put his book into his backpack before standing up so they could both head to the playground.
