The Piano
One of the things Bella missed the most when she was coming to Hogwarts was her piano. It was a grand piano that her grandparents had gifted her when she started showing an interest in music. Her father played the flute, and her mother the guitar. So, her parents were both delighted when Bella started asking about piano at the age of four. Now, eleven years old, Bella has been learning piano from her grandmother for almost seven years. It seemed like a shame to give up on music now.
That was why, when Bella stumbled upon a piano two days after the first day of school, she was absolutely ecstatic. She didn't have her piano books with her, not anticipating that Hogwarts would have a Rehearsal Room, equipped with all types of musical instruments. However, she had some songs that she memorized from previous concerts, and she simply enjoyed the feeling of running her hands along the black and white keys of the piano.
Feeling brave, she opened her mouth and sang along to one of her favorite songs. Singing was also a hobby of hers, though she never admitted it to her parents, for it wasn't as "classical" and she feared that they would not be as excited as she is about it. It was silly, of course, but it was a childhood fear ever since a classmate of hers told her that her singing was apparently ugly. To be fair, they were both eight, but Bella no longer had the courage to sing in public.
Only in private, in moments like these, could Bella let down her guard and just play the piano and sing. She longed for a friend who shared a musical joy like she did, and she hoped that eventually, she would find one in Hogwarts.

Maya was surprised to overhear from a new students in the hallways that there was a rehearsal room at Hogwarts. Since Maya really loved music and singing, and was curious about musical instruments , she wanted to visit the rehearsal room, wondering what was happening out there. Were the instruments magical? Did magical instruments even exist? She wouldn't be surprised to learn so. Although she thought a real being playing an instrument was more artful and meaningful, in her opinion. Still, it would be interesting to see some magical instrument playing by itself, while its floating in the air as if someone was holding it.
Maya didn't know how to play any instruments, but she was very keen on singing. She supposed she had a nice enough voice. She didnt hate it and no one ever said her singing was bad or even told her to stop singing and be quiet, so she was confident enough. Maybe in the reharsal room, she can just sing freely, preferably out loud and a lively song, where no one else can even bother her.
So she did find and enter the rehearsal room. She thought no one else would be there, but she quickly realized she was wrong. There was a piano and a girl there, singing while playing. Maya always thought singing and playing an instrument would require a bonus special skill or practice. So the girl she sees seemed to have either of those things, and honesly Maya admired that. The girl's robes proved that she was a slytherin like her. Maya remembered her face from the boat trip from the lake to Hogwarts castle and the sorting ceremony. She could also recall she had another girl she already seemed to be close friends with, but she was alone this time.
Ultimately Maya decided to befriend her too, so she started to walk towards her, slowly and carefully to not distrupt or scare her. "Hey" she started. "That was a good one" and she put on a friendly smile. "I hope I'm not disturbing you..honestly i think i saw you before and since we are both slytherins and first years I wanted to befriend you ,and whats better than making a friend who also likes music?"

Wandering through the crowded hallways of the castle usually took a lot out of Bartholomew's energy. Today he was just passing the time with his acoustic guitar hanging on his back looking for a spot without a lot of noise from other students.
That was when he heard the familiar sound of a piano coming from the hallway.
"Wait, a grand piano?" he thought, stopping his feet on the stone floor. He followed the music until he found a door he had never seen before—the Rehearsal Room. He opened it. Saw two first-year Slytherin girls near the piano. One of them had just been playing.
"Bro this room is a win" Bartholomew said, walking in with a relaxed and calm smile. He took off his guitar and leaned against the doorframe. "I've been carrying this thing around looking for a place where the paintings don't tell me to be quiet."
He gave them both a nod, not at all affected by the house differences. "I heard the music, from the hallway. You play well no joke. I'm Bartholomew or just Barry. I didn't mean to interrupt your moment. Finding real musicians in this castle instead of people causing trouble is the best thing ever."

Oof. Not one, but two people heard me playing? Singing? And... they liked it?
Bella recomposed her face and nodded a hello back.
"Hi, Barry. My name is Bella, and this is my friend Maya," Bella pointed to the girl besides her. "Who I just met a few minutes ago, so I guess we are more like acquaintances but..." Bella shrugged, as if saying Well, we are going to become friends, I hope.
"This room is amazing, isn't it?" her face lit up at the thought of music again. "The portraits are surprisingly annoying, though, as entertaining as they are. I'm happy that they are pretty friendly in this room, though what they say after we all leave is out of my reach."
Bella glared at the portraits hung around the room, who glanced back at her innocently.
"Ughh...yeah, anyways, thanks for your compliment! I play piano as a hobby, and I only sing when no one is around. Though in this case, I didn't know both of you were here, so that's why I was singing. And I totally agree with you! It is amazing to find real musicians here, as I told Maya before. Having musician friends, or just people that enjoy music, in general, is awesome! But enough about me. I see that you play the guitar, Barry. Unless you are just carrying it around the castle for no point at all, of course." Bella chuckled softly. "How long have you been playing the guitar?"

The girl's name was Bella and she agreed that music is a great way to conenct with people. Maya felt her excitement and talkativeness rise by Bella's way of speaking. Maya happily nodded in agreement when she said she hopes they can be friends. She loved making new friends.
"My name is Maya and i totally agree with you about music, I hope we can become friends too" She said a bit excitedly.
"Well, what brought you here to the Rehearsal Room in the first place? Do you play any instruments, or are you just curious on what this room is?"
"I don't play any instruments actually" She admitted. "But I am very fond of singing and music in general, I'd like to learn an instrument eventually though, perhaps some type of guitar" She also glanced around the room and admitted she didn't expect only normal, non-magical instruments here. "I got curious about what's in this room, didn't expect Hogwarts to have a special room for that"
Suddently another student entered the room. Judging my his robes he was a Gryffindor, probably a first year too. He was carrying a guitar and then he put it against the doorframe. He said his name was Bartholomew, or Barry for short. Maya would surely use Barry. When he talked about finding real musicians, Maya felt kinda out of place as she didn't feel that way, not knowing how to play an instrument. She didn't say anything about it.
Then Bella introduced herself and Maya as her friend, caughing Maya a little bit out of guard but she was happy about it too. She then nodded in agreement and said "Hello, nice to meet you!" with a smile.
"Oh i didn't even pay attention to the portraits" She admitted again to Bella's comment. "I was too busy looking at the instruments" She laughed. Some of the portraits rolled their eyes and Maya just reacted with curiousity and amazement.
