Jeremy couldn't believe the day had finally come. Being at camp had taken him so close to Hogwarts that he could almost taste it. It was hard to believe that the day he'd waited ELEVEN LONG YEARS for had finally arrived. His whole LIFE he'd imagined this day - and now it was really here. He could barely sit still. He had never fidgeted so much in his life.
He looked around at all the other first years - some looked excited (one loud girl ((@Xio Arcana)) looked very excited), a few looked frightened, others looked like they had no idea what was going on at all (muggle-borns maybe).
Jeremy eagerly drank in the sight of all the new first-years who had come off of the train, ones who hadn't been at camp with him and the others. Some of those would be living in the same house as him, maybe even the same room for seven years. He would probably know most of them, even though now they were all strangers. He supposed he was happy to know some kids already, after spending the month of August at camp, even though he wasn't sure he 'liked' all of the kids he knew.
Jeremy knew about the ritual of first-years coming to Hogwarts by boat - it had seemed silly to him to have to do that (they were already there!). But seeing the moonlit lake, with the glowing castle in the distance, Jeremy felt his breath taken away by awe, and suddenly understood. Everybody loved a good first impression.
As the kids began to pour into the boats, Jeremy eyed one that was oddly still open. In it stood the man who had brought them here, a serious (and slightly intimidating) fellow. Jeremy didn't understand why his boat was empty, but suddenly an idea formed. He'd spent one month at camp....one whole long month trying to convince the students of Hogwarts that he belonged in Ravenclaw and after all that he wasn't sure he'd made a lick of difference towards his fate. There was one more chance though, and he was gonna take it.
"Psst, come this way," Jeremy whispered to @Strike Allen who he had found himself wandering next to once things got crowded, perhaps because he was a familiar face who he did like. Not looking back to see whether Strike was following him, Jeremy boarded the mostly-empty boat (frustratingly, Jo had already arrived before he got there - why was she always following him everywhere??), and looked up at the much bigger man with what he hoped was a charming smile (Jeremy had to thank his mum and dad for once for making him greet so many of their friends, even when he didn't want to. He wouldn't tell them thanks of course, or they'd make him do it even more, but he'd think it at least).
"Hello there, Jeremy Slater, first year. You wouldn't happen to know the sorting hat would you?" he asked, sticking his small hand out towards the man. The grown-up didn't look particularly warm or friendly, but Jeremy knew that it would be quite a long boat ride to get to school, and the man would be trapped with him no matter what. If he had learned anything from his dad, this was a very good thing.

He could hardly believe it was happening. They were actually going to Hogwarts! The actual castle this time; not just camp or the school grounds! The excitement seemed to be contagious as it rippled through the crowd of gathered first years. Strike could barely contain his own. He wished he had his broom so he could fly across the lake to get there faster, but alas, it had been taken with his trunk and the other luggage to the castle directly.
But that was alright. Because they, as first years, got to go on boats.
"Psst, come this way," someone said.
Strike's head jerked around to see Jeremy and his amber eyes lit up even brighter than before. If there was one thing that could have made riding the boats better, it was riding them with people he knew and liked and who liked him in return. At least he thought Jeremy liked him okay. If he was telling him to come that way, then that meant he must have at least liked him enough to want him to join him in a boat, right? And that was even better than being tolerated!
Wasting no time in following after Jeremy - he wasn't about to waste the opportunity to please both Jeremy and himself - he noticed that another familiar face awaited them in the boat. It was Jo who had also been in their summer camp cabin. Was she the reason Jeremy had wanted to go into that boat specifically?
As his joy and excitement escalated upon recognizing and joining yet another person he knew, Strike hoped Jo and the adult in the boat didn't mind him joining Jeremy and them as he quickly scrambled to get in and seat himself beside Jeremy if he could find the room. He rocked a little in his seat, unable to quite sit still.

"I suppose yeah, I might be sorted to Ravenclaw too" Maya shrugged as response to the other girls comment. She honestly didn't wanna be sorted into Ravenclaw..for some reason. Perhaps it was her unusual urge to be different than her family, or maybe she wasn't really different but a try-hard instead..and she was just like her family, and her intuition about it was wrong. After all, the other girl was probably right, the Hat knows better than they do.
Then they finally learned each others name. The girl's name was Elara. Maya thought it was a cute and interesting name. Elara asked about if she had siblings in Hogwarts right now, Maya had noticed her adjusting and glancing down at her sleeve so she was looking there while she answered. "No, I only have one sibling and she already graduated from Hogwarts the previous year. " Maya turned around to face Elara again and smiled. "And now im just glad its my time"
Maya couldn't help but wonder if the other girl was uncomfortable or just shy or introverted but she didn't wanna make this more awkward by asking that type of questions and make her feel judged somehow. So she asked about the girl's family instead. "Do you have any siblings? Were your parents magical too?" Maya thought she probably looked like she has stars in her own eyes, naturally just so curious about this world and its people. She also honestly wished more people would join in with them.

Summer camp ended in a whirlwind, and with all his cousins returning to Mahoutokoro for the new school year, Philip was left sad and lonely. Well, it could be detected pretty easily that it was pure hyperbole. While he was indeed reluctant to let his beloved cousins go, they had literally been together the whole summer, and the end of summer meant the start of the new school year, which meant Philip was eventually, officially, a dreamed-of Hogwarts student. Granted, Philip didn't exactly love schools, and he could already imagine the workload after the classes started. Yet this was Hogwarts. The legendary, one-of-a-kind Hogwarts. Obsidian eyes observed the silvered grand castle from among the crowd. That was it. He'd then be sorted, maybe join the house Duelling team, find someone to talk to every morning at the dining table, and survive the seven years. No, he preferred not to think of the homework nor the exams at the moment. A newly arrived freshman deserved to focus on the brighter side, and the truth was that was the only part they were able to have on their mind at the moment. He was slightly startled as someone called out for first years. Idly following the crowd, Philip found himself gathering around a man with a group of children of his own age, who then instructed that they would be taking a boat to the castle. Philip pursed his lips. Oh right, how could he have forgotten this? Along with the Hogwarts Express and the Sorting Ceremony, they had been chanted by his brother upon Philip's own request so many times, and he had been so familiar with the whole process. Uncontrollably, he took a step back, almost stepping on someone's toes. He murmured an apology to the unfortunate student, and lowered his eyes. Catching the sight of the light ripples on the water's surface, the snippets of that day with his revered senior Duellist and the cold, suffocating feeling dipping into his bones emerged again. Although the who and when were completely different and he was confident that his swimming skills could help him through just like last time, there was no way for a repeated nightmare, and Philip certainly did not want to be underwater nor get near to the Hogwarts waters once more. The only exception would be when he's comfortably sitting in the Slytherin Common Room, which would be much appreciated. He was barely registering the Caretaker's words as his thoughts ran wild, but he did shudder when the new students were threatened (?) by the depth and coldness and weird bad creatures who were not even interested in saying hi. Merlin, restless as he was, he would actually behave today. If given the choice, Philip would certainly strive to find another way of entering the castle, but it seemed that he was doomed. Right. He had to do this. For the Sorting Ceremony, for the Slytherin Common Room, for Hogwarts. Philip stood frozen to his spot as students began boarding the boats. He only realised that he had to follow suit after quite a few students had already settled down in their seats, and hastily gazed over, attempting to find a boat that was not fully occupied yet. Philip inched towards a boat containing two girls and a boy. Four would make a perfect balance, and it would not be too awkward to board as they were not actively engaging in conversations. He didn't usually consider this much, but these happened pretty subconsciously. Okay. He scratched his forehead as he made his way towards them. Breathe in, breathe out. "Can...can I join you?" Normally Philip would hop straight on board and greet everyone so loudly to the point of disturbance, but today his voice was low and unsure with a noticeable Welsh lilt. Philip had always found his accent to be more prominent whenever he wasn't feeling himself, and one who knew him well would almost immediately know that he had lost his trademark beam. Carefully gripping the gunwale and lowering himself into the boat, Philip let out small gasps as the boat swayed, and positioned himself with caution so as not to let the boat lose its balance. He sat there stiffly, hands on his knees. "Hi. I'm Philip Rosser."

"The only thing that's second league is your stylist Curls." Rascal would bite back playfully. So far the only people they'd met at Hogwarts had been very dismissive of what was clearly the greatest Quidditch team in the Wizarding World. "Ya missed a spot by the way." They add, gesturing to Kahira's skirt where her brushing had not quite yet yielded full cleanliness. "I mean, ya don't wanna turn up to the sortin' ceremony lookin' tatty, do ya?" Bold words given that Rascal themself looked as if they'd just thrown their school robes over themself in a dark room.
It was then that Rascal would cast an appraising eye of the latest entrant to the jolly little boat group that was assembling, finally someone who wasn't disparaging towards the Maulers, even if they admitted to being a fan of the wrong team. Oh well, nobody's perfect.
"It's always a good season where the Maulers are concerned. I think this is the year they'll finally get approved for the main league, bout bloody time." The Maulers had existed long before the Quidditch League, though they had been snubbed at its creation and asked to disband, instead choosing to go amateur at the time. In the recent decades they'd been able to cement their status as prime contenders in the secondary league with many (primarily those in East Anglia) vying for their addition to the primary Quidditch league.
"Rascal Ragg, yes as in the Raggs. The Quidditch legends." Even if Rascal's boasts and brags about the Maulers and their own Quidditch ability were often exaggerated even the most ardent hater would struggle to say the Raggs were unskilled or in some way unoteable. They'd been a known name in Quidditch for centuries now. Of course, that didn't mean everyone knew them or that everyone was a fan.
"From lovely Suffolk county. Here, take this if you ever wanna support a team whose glory days ain't past them." A deliberate jab at the Tornadoes? Most definitely.
"Currently accepting applications for me entourage by the way. Whichever house I'm sorted into they'd be mad not to put a Ragg on the team, so if you wanna hang out with a future Quidditch champion, now's the time." They would address the words to Zayn but shoot a wink to Kahira, to show she was included. Surely she'd be thrilled at the invitation.

Zayn could sense a tinge of tension between the redhead and unkempt boy but was determined to not let a little animosity ruin the vibe. This was their first day and nothing could bring him down, save for a giant squid. Thankfully the Great Lake had none of those. Right?
The boat filled in quickly as a fourth joined them soon after Zayn's own arrival. The newcomer was alluring with what he could only assume was Scandinavian ancestry. He offered a friendly smile as she met his gaze with glacier-blue eyes. "Hi there. I'm Zayn. I like your eyes." He said it plainly, the same tone he'd use for a new pair of shoes or a keychain. The comment was sincere but there was no extra meaning to it, just an eleven year old noticing a detail and saying so.
To his fellow Tornadoes fan, Zayn offered a polite reply as she offered her name. "It's nice to meet you, Kahira." His gaze lingered a moment as he tried to recall whether hers was a familiar face. "Have I seen you before? Maybe near Mould-on-the-Wold? My family has a holiday cottage there."
"It's always a good season where the Maulers are concerned. I think this is the year they'll finally get approved for the main league, bout bloody time," the other boy in the boat said before offering his name. He was a Ragg of the Quidditch Raggs. Interesting.
"Oh, are they due to be promoted?" Zayn asked, recognizing the family name and assuming this boy, if anybody, would know. He ignored the jab at the Tornadoes, knowing well enough their recent record. He also ignored the mention of being part of anybody's entourage. He had no aspirations to be anybody's follower. Instead, he shifted to make space for the quiet girl who had seemingly lost her shoes. Bad luck that, Zayn thought -- and on the first day of term too!
"Are you all excited for the sorting ceremony?" He asked the group, leaning forward in a slightly conspiratorial manner. "I heard a sixth year on the train say that you need to think about the house you least want to be sorted in so that the hat puts you in the opposite and one you want the most. I think I am going to try it." Whether the rumor was true or not, Zayn had no clue; but, he also did not have any particular result to hope for. His family had been sorted into a mix of all four houses. Where Zayn would land was anybody's guess and he doubted repeating a name in his head was going to sway the result.

Maya listened to Elara talking about her her magical history. She realized they have a lot of similarities. "My dad's a wizard and my mom is a muggle too" She said. "I also learn about Hogwarts from him, mostly my sister though." Maya had asked her sister a lot of questions during her time at Hogwarts, occasionally genuinely bothering her with her constant curiosities and questions. As she grew up to an older student she had gained more patience about Maya's questions. At one point, she told her it would be much more interesting and fun to learn from her own experiences. It was another reason why Maya was so excited for Hogwarts, to learn more, she couldn't help being a curious child.
"How's your dad like?" Maya couln't help but ask, only about the girl's father because he was the wizard one. She wasn't curious about muggle things to be honest. "Which house he was sorted to in Hogwarts?" She then also wondered how Elara's mom was reacting to the magic her husband possessed, whetever if she was bitter about it or not at all. Maya honestly suspected her own mom was. She also wanted to ask if they used magic at their home often, like it often happened in Maya's childhood home. But she didn't ask about it, perhaps later, she thought, if Elara and her even talked more when they arrive Hogwarts and became actual friends.

SolΓ©ne she supposed she could say it's a pretty name. Well it appears that SolΓ©ne doesn't have any objections, something the girl had to say before introducing herself. Raising her eyebrow, her mouth forms into a smirk, "Good. Well I suppose I ought to introduce myself too." Pausing, a disgusted look appears onto her face, "Willow.... Starch." She says her last name with such disgust that it probably would've been better for her to just not say it. Why should she admit to strangers how much she despises her own family? The only person in her family that even bother to show that they remotely even cared for her was her eldest brother, Cole.
Before any further introductions start or conversation, which involve personal questions, a annoying, energetic, lively girl aboard the so called boat. While she was boarding, the girl spouted off random nonsense about how lovely SolΓ©ne's name was and how exciting this all was. After the random girl boarded, she continues to babble about everything and anything that she thought of. Would it be worth it if I pushed her off the boat? Talking faster than a private jet taking off, Willow barely caught her name. Edith. What a plain stupid boring name. The girl, excuse me, Edith, continue to talk with no intention of stopping. Rolling her eyes, the devil child made sure to scoot away from the talking girl. Unfortunately though, a scoot to many lead to her bumping into the boy. Biting her tongue, she manages to not say anything nasty due to it being her fault. Muttering a very unapologetic sorry, she scoots from him just enough for they won't collide again.
Looking back up towards the talkative Edith, she regrettably manages to catch the last thing TE says. Or more like asked. Am I excited for Hogwarts? She scoffs, As if! My family calls it hell Before she says anything the guy introduces himself next then admits he's not excited.
"That makes two of us." She mutters quietly. Letting out an irritated sigh, she looks out of the boat and away from everyone else. Hell that's where I'm going. A muffed up earthly version for the messed up devil child. Mentally rolling her eyes, she (not)admittedly feels hurt over it. What a perfect fit. A devilish place for a devilish child To any other kid and their family, this would be a new experience. A new path opened up for their future. Instead for Willow, it demolished everything for her. Dragged her into this... this hellhole and instead it ruined her possibility of having a normal future. How is there a possibility of getting a ride on scholarship to one of the top universities in the country from sports, when she's stuck at Snogwarts.
This is just straight stupid. Idiotic that all. Goddamn idiotic. Being stuck at a place where my own mother would say is cursed by the devil. Save me
