☆Always the Same, Ever-changing☆

Thanks to all the encouragement and supportive messages from the h.io discord, I decided to share my art here (at least the ones that I'm proud enough to show.)
I've removed my artist tag from each one to avoid coming off like I'm trying to plug my social media, and I trust that the people in this community won't try anything funny anyway.
I'm keeping them in chronological order, it might be cool to see a development over time.

The very first piece of digital art I made, I think it was around... 2020? Probably the quarantine times.

I've had a phase around late 2024 - 2025 where I would only use the digital brush / try a "pixel-art"-like style:

Around like, about several weeks ago (August 2026) I asked if anyone in this community would let me draw their characters for practice. a bunch of kind people gave me permission, so here's some:

This might be very childish to admit but I genuienly never felt any passion for art early on. I only picked it up to impress a friend of mine, who was an almost professional-level artist. She used to give me tips and we would chat about the projects we wanted to make together but we eventually grew apart, which made me lose all enthusiasm for drawing anything, at least for a few years.
Afterwards, my drawing tablet became something I only picked up when I needed a distraction or to kill time when I'm sick. There would be periods of time when it would collect dust for over 5-6 months. A couple of times I tried growing an art account on social media only to either flop or get made fun from being an amateur. (really, like, cyberbullying in the big 2026? that stuff's so cringe.)
Overtime I believe I have made peace with being an amateur. It's okay to do something as just a hobby. I can't sketch well with a stylus so I always draw a rough sketch on a piece of paper with a pen first, then take a photo of it and open it on my laptop, so the digital part is more like "editing" than "drawing". Apparently that might be a habit that keeps one from getting better at it, but tbh that's much more comfortable for me, so... idk. I also catch myself doing that "bubble method" thing (shading only around lineart) almost unconsciously... I don't think it's the end of the world. I'll try to get better when I can but I won't let the voice of a harsh critic echo in my mind. As the great philosopher Taylor Swift once said, "I will never change, but I'll never stay the same either."
