Aurelia sighed. It was 10th time this week she had gotten lost in the endless corridors around this castle. She was going to be late to Defence against the dark arts, and from what she had gathered the first lesson was sometimes the most important. She looked around these halls had been full just 5 minutes ago and yet now they were empty. Why hadn't she had asked for directions then. She walked down the corridor and then up it shortly after. She looked around and saw no-one and nothing that could help her. She loved Hogwarts, the food was amazing the people were great and the classes they were well, magical. What would happen if she was expelled? Well she'd be sent back home. She sighed yet again. No she couldn't think like that. Right now she had to focus on getting out of this mess. She tried to remember the directions was it left right right left or left right left right. Maybe she was actually lost. What if she was lost forever. No, stop thinking like that. Somone will find her. She had ten minutes to get to Defence against the dark arts. She was going to make it.

Diana had been making her way through the corridor with her books tucked securely against her chest when a familiar face caught her attention. Shen then slowed to a stop. It was Aurelia. She was one of the girls from the Department of Mysteries cabin during the summer camp which took place last month. Throughout the summer camp Diana had gotten to know her and so when she saw her wandering through the corridors and looking like she was increasingly confused immediately caught the older raven's attention.
For a moment Diana watched as Aurelia glanced down one corridor before turning around and walking the other way. A small and knowing smile tugged at Diana's lips. Hogwarts had certainly wasted no time introducing Aurelia to one of its more frustrating features. "Aurelia?" Diana called softly as she approached. "Are you lost?" She already had a pretty good idea of the answer but she decided to ask anyways. Diana gave her a reassuring smile as she shifted the books in her arms. "I remember you mentioning how much you liked Hogwarts during camp, but I don't think the castle has quite returned the favor yet." A quiet laugh escaped her. Before looking back at Aurelia she glanced down the corridor. "Where are you trying to get to?"

Aurelia felt like her cheeks were on fire. She had gotten lost, and then Diana had found her. She looked at her and said, "Hi, Diana, I am just trying to get to Defence Against the Dark Arts, but I think I took a wrong turn." Aurelia realised how foolish she must look. Already in her second week and still getting lost. Diana probably never got lost. Aurelia felt her cheeks turn scarlet red, "I mean, I have been trying to remember the way since breakfast, but I think I took a wrong turn. Somewhere. I could have sworn it was right, left, right, but I guess I got it wrong."
She glanced down the corridor, hoping that the classroom would somehow appear in front of her. It didn't. Of course it didn't. Why would Hogwarts ever make anything easy?
Aurelia sighed quietly. She really needed to start paying more attention when she walked around the castle. There were so many corridors, staircases, and doors that all seemed to look the same. She had tried memorising landmarks, but somehow she always managed to forget which staircase led where.
“I promise I'm not normally this hopeless,” she added, feeling her face grow even warmer. “I just haven't quite figured out this castle yet.”
She glanced down the corridor, hoping that the classroom would somehow appear in front of her. It didn't. Of course it didn't. Why would Hogwarts ever make anything easy?

When Aurelia's cheeks turned scarlet Diana's expression softened. She tell almost immediately that the younger girl was embarrassed and Diana didn't want to make her feel even worse. "You're not hopeless," she assured her gently. "Hogwarts is just very good at making people feel like they should know where they're going when they absolutely don't." A quiet laugh escaped her as she shifted the books in her arms. "And for what it's worth, I still take wrong turns sometimes." It wasn't quite as frequent as it had been during her first year but the castle had more than enough corridors staircases and doors to keep surprising her. "The trick is remembering that the castle doesn't always make it easy to remember which way you went."
When Aurelia explained that she was trying to get to Defence Against the Dark Arts class Diana nodded. "I know where that is." She glanced down the corridor before briefly considering the quickest route before looking back at Aurelia. "You're actually not too far away. You just went the wrong way at some point." Diana adjusted the books against her chest before gesturing Aurelia to follow her. "Come on. I'll show you." She started walking at an easy pace and made sure Aurelia could keep up without having to hurry. "We can figure out the route together. You might even remember it next time." After a few steps Diana glanced back at her with a small smile. "Although if you forget again, don't worry about it. You can always ask someone." She paused thoughtfully before adding "Or you can find me. I've had a whole year to get lost in this castle, so I've learned a few things." Her smile grew slightly. "And honestly, getting lost is practically a Hogwarts tradition." Yes Diana knew her way around the school pretty well now but there were locations in the school that she hasn't even seen before so there's always an opportunity for people in their older years to get lost, not just first years.
