"Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind."

The Great Hall is a large room with four long tables where students of each House sit during the day and at mealtimes. A majestic enchanted ceiling that mirrors the outside weather is watching over people in the room.

The table you sit at now is a table that has sat through many centuries; its wood is as old as the castle it sits inside. Brilliant witches and wizards sat in the same seat you have, and it's no surprise if you were to follow suit. You've been sorted into a noble house, one that has ushered forth pioneers, scholars, and new age thinkers of the wizarding world.

Creative, clever, sharp, and wise minds sit among you - the future is bright, and so is yours. The students at this table fly the bronze and blue crest and an eagle that has always symbolized the truthful principles of Rowena Ravenclaw. We are excited to have you here, whoever you might be, and whoever you may be, it begins here - amongst your own. Whether you are new or old, eat well, talk with one another, and may you always find a friend on this table.

The Ravenclaw Table 2026-2027
Date : 4th september 2026
Time: Breakfast

Jen sat at the table idly shaping the square of softened butter on her jam toast into a unicorn. Sparkling shafts of bright sun streamed through the window arches under the clouds of the enchanted ceiling. A steaming mug of tea misted with condensation. Jen watched her clods of strawberry jam light up like glittering rubies under a passing beam. The low murmur of conversation was lulling her into a sleepy haze. She felt a thought materialise and observed it drift like honey through her brain. She had let all other thoughts stream past like schools of fish in syrup, but she watched this one longer for some odd reason.

Just as it began to fade into the abyss, Jens eyes widened. The world snapped back into focus. The conversation suddenly bloomed around her. She looked around.

Where on earth was her cat Jelly? She'd just realised she hadn't seen her cat since she'd left him on the train. Jen was quite accustomed to bouts of disappearances from Jelly, but she always trusted he'd reappear. She considered that perhaps she'd fulfilled the terms of their companionship by carting him to the vast reserve of nature around Hogwarts. Maybe he was off gallivanting in ecstasy in the fields or frolicking amid the wildflowers.

She huffed at her mug of tea, dispersing clouds of steam and watching the creamy caramel liquid ripple. If he ever bored of his nature retreat, she would trap him in her embrace and sink her fingers into his feathers for hours. The smarmy thing owed her that much.

A flash of red caught Jen's peripheral. She turned her head as someone's Tempus charm faded. Seeing that the time was getting on, Jen stashed her strain of thought and pranced off to Charms like a pony.

She was turned around on a rotating staircase and ambled aimlessly down corridors for the remainder of breakfast, admiring statues, noting portraits and turning at random before miraculously bumbling through the right door at the last moments.

The Ravenclaw Table 2026-2027
I joined the Ravenclaw table after a long night of rest. It took me a few hours to settle into my new dorm and unload my luggage.

Sitting now, I am famished and find myself looking at the food on the table eagerly.

There was a generous assortment of breakfast options: scrambled and poached eggs, crispy maple bacon, honeyed ham, pancakes and waffles, grits and oatmeal, etc. I took a plate first and piled it with some poached eggs and crispy bacon. I then added a couple of waffles and layered them with butter and fresh maple syrup. I then filled a bowl up of grits and topped them with cinnamon, honey and fresh blackberries. I made sure I would get plenty of fuel before the start of classes. I was still waiting on my schedule so I had plenty of time to eat. I got to work eating my own meal peacefully while I silently observed other students.

There was a girl to my upper right who was fussing with her restless owl. “No Jollie, you can’t fly off and look around.” Jollie hooted their anxiousness for adventure, but the girl would hear none of it. Another girl to my lower right was eagerly piling her bowl with a mound of oatmeal and reading her book ‘A Hogwarts History’ at the same time. I tried not to giggle at some of the eccentric behavior at the table. This morning would prove to be enlightening.

The Ravenclaw Table 2026-2027
Date: September 1st, 2026
Time: Evening, Sorting Ceremony
"RAVENCLAW!"
the Sorting Hat shouted.

Aaron removed the hat with excitement and went towards the Ravenclaw table to the applause of his fellow house-mates who had cheered for the others who got sorted into Ravenclaw too.

He was overjoyed by the result. While he was ready to settle for another house, he wanted it to be sorted to Ravenclaw.

As he sat there he saw other children of his age getting sorted into the four houses too. He was happy for the house they got.

As he sat there and cheered for another person getting sorted to Ravenclaw, he thought back to when he was with the hat. He didn't know what to expect, except that it will be reading his mind somehow.

When he wore the hat, the hat began going through the different features Aaron had, stating the different options available, but finally settled on Ravenclaw.

"Wasn't hoping a hat stall, didn't get a hat stall. I was able to get the house I wanted." he thought.

He saw familiar faces he had met over the past couple months, whether they were in Diagon Alley, or on Hogwarts grounds only, and the many more he didn't recognise. Aaron was hopeful he would be able to interact with many of them.

He made a mental note to drop an owl to his parents the next day with Minerva, telling them he had reached Hogwarts safely and got sorted into Ravenclaw just like his mother. He was sure they would be overjoyed with the information.

After the sorting was over, he was glad to be able to start eating as he was hungry. He didn't realise how hungry he was before the food appeared before him. There was a lot of varieties of dishes available to choose from that Aaron wasn't able to decide what to choose from. He couldn't even try a bite of everything as there was so much that he would definitely be missing something.

Thus, starting with whatever was closest to him, Aaron begun to eat his way to a full stomach. After about eating for nearly an hour and talking with his neighbours, he was finally full and couldn't eat or drink more if he tried.

Luckily not long after it was time to go to the Ravenclaw tower for going to rest for the night. Aaron got up and began following the others trying to memorising the different ways of the castle.

The Ravenclaw Table 2026-2027
Aster felt a thrill of excitement run through her when the hat called out "RAVENCLAW!" While she hadn't been nervous, exactly, before the sorting, she couldn't escape a niggling doubt that she would hate the house she was to join. However, her mother had been a Ravenclaw, and she had grown up hearing lovely tales about the House.

She stood from the sorting stool and walked to the bronze and blue table as the next student stepped up to be sorted. She suddenly felt nervous approaching the Ravenclaws, many of whom were looking at her. She scanned the table for a good place and settled for a place at the end, where she wouldn't be surrounded by too many new faces. She sat quietly, watching the ceremony for a bit, before another first-year girl sat down next to her.

"Hi! I'm Serena. What's your name?"

Aster blinked at her for a moment before responding, "I'm Aster. Nice to meet you."
Serena seemed nice. They chatted for a few moments, then another first-year joined them. The rest of the evening passed quickly, full of introductions and good food. Aster learned that Serena was from London and enjoyed art, too. Aster made a mental note to ask to see her paintings. Maybe they could paint together sometime. Some of the older students also introduced themselves and provided tidbits of advice: the best study spots, which students and teachers to avoid, tips for the first Charms class, the best books in the library, and more. Aster didn't talk much, but she drank it all in, trying to absorb as much information as possible. The Ravenclaws seemed generally friendly and supportive, which helped assuage some of her fears.

When the meal was finally over, and pudding had been served, it was finally time to go to the Ravenclaw common room. Aster stood with the rest of the first-years and followed the prefect out. This was going to be a good year.
