After the Sorting Ceremony had concluded for the incoming first-years and the students had their fill of their first feast at Hogwarts for the 2026 school year, Xio had pulled @Bella Light aside before her Prefect led her to the Slytherin Common Rooms.
On one arm Xio was carrying a thick quilt blanket that glittered like starlight that she did not have before the Sorting Ceremony, and in her hand she held a small white pouch that seemed to have held smaller trinkets. She was smiling brightly and it seemed like based on the ruffled state of her hair that she had just finished visiting with her siblings for a quick family congratulation gathering after the ceremony before bedtime.
"Bella! Congratulations on getting sorted into Slytherin! I am SO excited for you! You're going to do amazing things. I would offer to ask my older sister Lyra for help but she usually super busy so I would be impressed if you manage to getting around to talking to her!"
Xio continued breathlessly as she didn't want to hold up Bella for too long, especially before her Prefect may leave her behind.
"So, listen Bella, you are my first friend at Hogwarts officially, and that means you get priority invitation to my first ever Hogwarts Birthday Party! I was born today, but of course, there was far too much excitement for today as is so there was no way I was going to be able to plan an event on such an critical time in our lives!"
She exclaimed as she gestured her arms wide at the entire castle around them.
"You should have seen it, I basically had to threaten my siblings that I would hex them if they didn't let me spend my first ever Hogwarts Birthday how I wanted to. So, I was planning that we go exploring the castle and the grounds together and see how much stuff we can break or how many people we can drag into trouble!"
A glimmer of mischief sparkled in her eyes after she said that last part, hugging her birthday quilt to her chest in excitement.
"So if you don't have anything planned yet for tomorrow, let's plan to have breakfast together then see what kind of damage we can do before we get caught!"

Bella was surprised when @Xio Arcana tugged her aside for her surprise announcement. She couldn't believe that it was her friend's birthday the whole day, and she had no clue.
“Wait, it’s your birthday? Happy birthday! Oh, my goodness, Xio, I need to know more about you! What do you like? What do you want for your birthday? Wait, no, don’t tell me, it’s going to be a surprise. You can just wait for tomorrow morning!”
Bella pulled Xio in for a quick celebratory hug and said, “Thank you so much for the invitation! Of course I don’t have anything planned for tomorrow, and even if I did, I would make time for my first friend’s birthday, obviously. And that sounds like a great idea! Let’s just not get expelled on our first day, yeah? But we will have SO MUCH FUN! Wow, I’m so excited for tomorrow. I can't wait to see what we will do!"
Bella heard someone calling her name loudly, and she spun around. Seeing that someone was beckoning her to go, she looked at her friend again.
“Xio, happy birthday again! Congratulations on being sorted into Ravenclaw! See you tomorrow at breakfast!” Bella yelled. They waved goodbye before Bella ran off to follow her housemates.

Irene stared at the parchment the owl just brought her. Alarmed, but grateful. She never thought of making a new friend this soon.
Birthday party invitation? Also from someone she didn't know...but sure, why not join?
Xio...Irene remembered her vaguely as a Ravenclaw first year. Long, black hair and dark eyes, she was very pretty indeed. She wondered why she got invited, but she was happy all the same.
But she didn't have a birthday present ready, which did not make sense if she's going to the party. She supposed that Xio would be her first friend at Hogwarts, and she had no reason to reject it or be mean to her.
She sent an owl back straight away:
Thank you so much for inviting me! Of course, I have time tomorrow, and I am hoping have have a good time with you and your friends.
Irene Sterling Stone
She walked inside the Slytherin Dungeons and sat, thinking to herself. What should she buy? She didn't even know what Xio liked! But Xio, being in Ravenclaw, must be very clever and maybe, maybe just a bit like her mother.
Maybe a good book? Or......
Then, something stuck her, though she did not quite catch it. She thought hard, and finally, the answer came...something that would increase their friendship and getting to know each other better, perhaps? With a good book, of course.
Smiling to herself, she decided to buy something for her first friend through owl order.

The huge chandelier above the stone fireplace painted the Small Hall in sepia tones. The enchanted portraits of great witches and wizards that adorn the walls of this antechamber were awash with flickering golden light from the numerous candles of the chandelier.
Rosamund had thought it hilarious and ballsy to name such a huge chamber Small.
She stopped to admire the huge wooden chandelier aloft, and then checked out the equally large stone fireplace with its mantle located way above her height. To be fair, when compared to the Great Hall just beyond, this room is Small indeed, she thought.
Nevertheless, it was the perfect room to read correspondences away from prying, curious eyes after receiving one in the Great Hall.
She took the letter from her pocket, broke the seal, and read it.
It was a pleasant surprise to receive an invitation to a birthday party so early in the school year. She fondly remembered the dark haired girl that practically fell from the top bunk, brushed it off with a smile and then hung out with her under the beautiful enchanted ceiling of their dormitory until sunrise.
She had never been the type to make new friends this fast. Growing up, her mother had had to force her to treat with her friends' children. She liked different things and thought too radically to form genuine connections with her pureblood peers.
Perry was the only exception, and that was a literal miracle that they even got the chance to meet.
Mother would be so proud of me for successfully creating new connections this fast.
She pocketed the letter again and walked towards the Owlery to pen an RSVP.
