Nicole hurried towards the class, miraculously managing to hold up her large books in her arms as she ran up the stairs. She must’ve used up all her luck to keep those books in her arms. It was the first day, and she hoped to make an unforgettable memory by paying close attention and actually paying attention in school instead of winging it like she did in Muggle school. New year, new her. By some divine intervention, she arrived early. But not too early to be the only one in class.

Many first-year students were there. They laughed, talked and smiled among each other. A hint of insecurity settled in. They looked like they came from wizard-born families. They’d never accept someone like her into their group. And besides, even if they did, she wasn’t the most cheery person to be around (unless people knew her really well). She placed her books on the table of a seat in the middle row. It was not the first bend nor the last one. It was just in the middle, where she could hide if she wanted to without actually going under the table.

For once (and only once), Nicole was actually excited for class that wasn’t Mathematics or Geography. She sat down, tapping her fingers anxiously on the wooden table. She looked around, drinking in every sight the classroom had to offer. The blackboard had ‘Welcome To Charms’ note neatly scrawled on it in cursive. The objects around her was fascinating. A cupboard that contained something, a cauldron bubbling in the corner (though she didn’t know why a cauldron was needed for) and—

Her thoughts were cut short when some Gryffindors arrived. Her brows rose in surprise. Her fellow Hufflepuffs didn’t seem fazed by it, so she assumed it must be a joint class.

Seat mates In Charms!
Laura made her way to the charms class one of her favourite lessons was charms it was a combined lesson with Hufflepuff. She was quite happy cause she had quite a lot of friends in Hufflepuff like her friend Jessica. When she walked into the class she was happy to put down the heavy book. She made her way to the middle of the classroom where is Hufflepuff girl was sitting. Laura sat down and looked at the classroom there was a black chalkboard a cupboard and a bubbling cauldron in the corner with what looked like the potion of cure boils. Well Laura thought so she wasn't so sure. Laura loved Charms class. Laura looked at all the other students there were some gryffindor student and some Hufflepuff students. Laura looked into her book and then she looked and turned to the girl. The girl had blonde hair and what looked like green eyes and she looked a bit shy. Then Laura said,"Hi I am Laura and who are you? Laura was very excited for the chance to make a new friend at school. Laura already had quite a few friends but you could never have enough friends thought Laura.

Jessica walked through the long, winding corridors of Hogwarts, holding her books tightly against her chest. It was her first day at the school, and everything around her seemed completely different from anything she had ever known. The stone walls were covered with moving portraits, suits of armour stood silently along the corridors, and strange whispers seemed to echo from somewhere beyond the walls.

She checked her timetable again.

Jessica looked around nervously. She had already taken several wrong turns while trying to find the classroom, and now she was worried that she would be late. After climbing another staircase, she finally spotted a wooden door with a small brass plaque that read Charms.

She took a deep breath and slowly pushed the door open. The classroom was brighter and warmer than she had expected. Sunlight streamed through the tall windows, falling across rows of wooden desks. Each desk had a small pile of parchment, an ink bottle, and a few neatly arranged objects. At the front of the room was a large blackboard covered with strange magical symbols that Jessica couldn't understand.

Several students were already inside. Some were chatting excitedly with their friends, while others were looking through their books. Jessica stood near the doorway for a moment, unsure of where to go.

She looked around and noticed an empty seat near the middle of the classroom. Quietly, she walked towards it.

As she passed the other students, she could hear snippets of their conversations about Hogwarts, spells, and the lessons they were going to have. Jessica felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness. She had dreamed about learning magic for so long, but now that she was actually here, it felt almost unreal.

She reached the empty desk and carefully placed her books on it. Then she pulled out the chair and sat down.

For a moment, she simply looked around the classroom. Her fingers rested lightly on her wand, which lay on the desk in front of her. She took a small breath, trying to calm her nerves.

Then she noticed a girl sitting nearby. The girl looked friendly, and Jessica decided that it would be better to introduce herself rather than sit there silently.

Jessica turned towards her, gave her a small smile, and said, “Hi, my name is Jessica”

Nicole looked up sharply, eyes widening when a girl approached her without her going to the girl. Wow. That was improvement. At least this was better than fading into the background in her Muggle school. She provided a shy smile at the redhead, waving awkwardly though nothing about her screamed ‘awkward’. At least, not right now. She placed her books on the table instead of the bench and scooted a bit for whoever wanted to sit next to her. She hoped that they would.

“My name’s Nicole. Nice to meet ya,” Her Welsh accent might’ve been a bit hard to hear since it would pop right in when she was nervous. Call it a quirk or an anxious habit, but that was the truth. Unfortunately. She bit down her lower lip, contemplating whether she should be the socially awkward person that she was or should she overshare ever single thing about herself? In the end, she chose the latter option. “Are you both from Gryffindor?” She asked as the curiosity got the better of her. Immediately, she cringed at how lame that sounded. Of course they were from Gryffindor, the scarves around their necks said so. Way to go, Nic. Woo-hoo.

“I’ve always wanted to be in Gryffindor. The history of Godric Gryffindor inspired me to hope so.” Nicole chirped, ignoring that nagging voice that said that she had said enough words to last a whole week. “Hufflepuff’s amazing, though! It had definitely been my second choice!” She said immediately, hoping internally that the girls didn’t hate her guts and her lack of control over her tongue.

Hi my name's Laura, she answered with a Irish accent. She was happy that someone else had a accent and that it was not only her with a strong accent. Then she noticed that Jessica had arrived. Yes I am from Gryffindor but Jessica here is from Hufflepuff like you. We met in Diagon Alley while we were shopping. Godric Gryffindors history is very interesting answered Laura once again she was happy that someone else knew about history. Laura was very happy that she had found a new friend. What is your favourite lesson? Mine are potions , charms , transfigurations and dada. Actully i like all lessons. I am so excited to learn magic. Any way what wand do you have mine is willow wood and a phoenix feather core. If you could play Quedditch what part would you be i would be the seeker or the chaser. I love flying on brooms i started when i was three on a bluebottle. Obviously i wasn't flying myself my brother was steering it. Since then i loved flying. Nicole have you been to a quedditch world cup? I have been the one where Ireland won or some team like that i think. Laura remembered the moment when she saw the seeker catch the snitch.

Jessica looked around, aside from Nicole. She saw a familiar figure arranging her books on the desk.

She immediately recognised her. It was Laura.

"Laura! Hi, how are you doing. So we are having our first charms class together? Wow! That's exciting" said Jessica.

“I was honestly a little nervous about coming here,” she admitted with a small laugh. “Everything still feels so unreal. I mean, yesterday I barely knew anything about magic, and now I’m sitting in a Hogwarts classroom!”

"Look, I made a new friend, she is from Hufflepuff too. Her name is Nicole" Jessica looked ar Nicole and gave a warm smile.

"We might make a good trio" said Jessica brightly.

"I have so much to learn from you both. About DADA, about Hogwarts History and about all the other founders. Hope we spend more time together and discuss about this all" grinned Jessica taking out her books and placing them on her desk along with her wand.

She carefully looked at her wand for a moment, still amazed that it was truly hers.

"Can you believe it? A wand! I never thought I'd actually have one," she whispered excitedly.

"I wonder what spell we'll learn first," she said. "I really hope I can do it properly. I feel like I have so much to catch up on."
She glanced at Laura and Nicole and smiled.

"But I'm glad I have friends like you two. Everything feels much less scary now."
