Book Exchange
Book bag over his shoulder, Morgan Faughn was briskly making his way through the castle towards the school's library. He had received a letter from Rain asking if perhaps they could meet in the library during the weekend as he had managed to receive a few books from his parents so that they could do a book exchange of sorts like they had discussed during their train ride to Hogwarts. Of course, Morgan agreed and although he hadn't quite been able to send a letter back home yet, he had been slightly overwhelmed with being at a new school and trying to figure out where everything was, he had brought quite a few books from home as he had practically packed as many of his own books as he could fit in his trunk before he had left for school. He hoped these books would suffice for now, he still wasn't sure what books were particularly "Muggle" or not, until he could send a letter back home and, hopefully, get a few more specific books.

Morgan was glad that Rain had been able to reach out though as the two boys had become separated after their boat ride to the castle after they had arrived. He had seen that Rain had been sorted after him and had been sorted into Gryffindor. The young Hufflepuff had found, at the time, that he somewhat wished that they had been sorted into the same house but, alas, it had not worked out that way.
Nonetheless, in theory, the two were finally going to meet again and finally talk again face to face for the first time since being sorted. Reaching the library doors, he entered and took in the grand space. There were so many shelves filled with so many books, rows and rows. It filled him with a hint of excitement, after all, there were so many books here that he never would have been able to find back home and there were so many new subjects and topics that he could explore.
For now though, he would have to quell his want to explore and go through all the books as today his main goal was to meet with Rain. Looking around, walking through as seeing all the different areas to sit, he didn't see the Gryffindor boy anywhere and Morgan supposed perhaps he just hadn't arrived yet. Finding a chair at a nearby table, he decided he would wait here and hope that Rain would find him. In the meantime, while he waited, he took out one of his school books and figured he might as well read while he waited. He was in the library after all.

ReducioOh Merlin! He was late. Rain knew he was meant to meet Morgan in the library today but had gotten distracted doing some homework. And then he had gotten sidetracked from the homework because he needed a break. All that to say: Rain really hoped Morgan was still in the library.
He hadn’t even gotten a chance to get dressed. All Rain had done so far was brush his teeth and wash his face. Rain’s mother would probably faint if he allowed himself to be out and about without being properly dressed so now he had to hurry and get a good outfit which would take him even longer. Not to mention having to do his hair, luckily his hair was relatively short.
Rain decided to get his hair squared away first and got that done relatively quickly. Looking into his trunk Rain first pulled out his favorite fur lined cloak and one of his less ostentatious robes. He hoped he wasn’t overdressed but both his parents were pretty uppity when it came to clothes, even if his father didn’t seem the type. Next he put on his socks and pulled on his leather boots. A lot of layers but Rain got cold easy and found that he preferred layering his clothes.
Once he was all dressed and double checked that his hair was staying where he put it Rain picked up the books his parents sent from his side table and left his dorm. Making his way to the library Rain got a bit turned around but after asking one of the portraits for better directions he was able to find his way.
Rain couldn’t immediately see where Morgan was sitting and was really hoping that he hadn’t kept him waiting too long. Coming further into the library Rain finally spotted Morgan and made his way to his table. “Hey, Morgan. Sorry to keep you waiting. I got so lost in completing some of my homework and then I got distracted when I took what was supposed to be a small break. At least I remembered to bring the books. There was always a chance that I would be in too much of a hurry and forget them in my dorm”, Rain finished off his statement with a small chuckle.
After speaking he pulled the books out of his bag and slid them to Morgan from across the table. “Here’s all the books my parents sent. They wrote and told me to let you know that you don’t have to worry about paying them back or anything. I think they‘re just happy that I’m making friends at school”. I hope Morgan likes the books I got.
With that thought Rain spoke again, “So what type of books do you like to read? I’m partial to adventure stories or anything about magical creatures”.

Just as he was about to get concerned that perhaps Rain was never going to show up, the Gryffindor boy's voice was heard and Morgan turned his head to look. Eyes lighting up ever so slightly as Rain presented the books, he certainly hoped the few books he had would actually suffice.
Searching through his own bag to pull out the books he had for Rain, he answered, "Oh um... I suppose I also like adventure stories and things with magical creatures. I really like fantasy books or comics depending um... sci-fi too sometimes, I will read really anything. I suppose I just like to read really, so I'm not particularly picky when it comes to books." Finally, he managed to find the books he had brought.
"Oh and, here's the books I could get for you. I had already brought these from home so they're not as specific as they could be but I wasn't really able to send a letter home yet so maybe the next time we do this I can get books that are... more specific but I hope these work," he added, sliding the books over to Rain.
It was an interesting mix of books he had brought and included such books as The Folklore of Wales: Ghosts, The Wind in the Willows, and Britain's Birds: A Treasury of Fact, Fiction and Folklore. He really did hope these would suffice for now, although he wasn't entirely sure the book on birds was great as they weren't magical really but it did include, what he could only assume, was specifically muggle folklore so perhaps it would be interesting for his new friend. He carefully began looking over the books Rain had brought, certainly excited to begin reading them soon.

”These are great, thank you”, Rain exclaimed after taking the books from Morgan. He took a moment to look over the covers to see what they were about. One was about ghosts in Wales, another about muggle birds, and another called The Wind in the Willows. Rain hadn’t given much thought to muggle creatures but maybe that could be another area of study, he loved most creatures. And to think that muggles had books about ghosts! I didn’t think muggles could even see ghosts. How extraordinary!
Looking up from the books Rain spoke again, “I think I’ll really like these, thanks again. I didn’t know muggles even knew about ghosts. Maybe we can meet up again to talk about the books. Like a book club!”. Rain was quite excited about the possibilities. He couldn’t wait to write home to his parents about it. Especially about the books about muggle birds. Maybe his parents had some information about muggle birds too."Inner stillness is the key to outer strength."

"Yeah, we could definitely meet up again at some point to talk about the books," he replied, glad Rain seemed at least vaguely interested in the books he had brought. If they made this a semi-regular thing, it would be fun to get to talk to someone about different books, plus, it meant that he would possibly also get more books to read so it was a good exchange all around.
Pushing his dark hair back slightly from his face as he thought about the different books he would have to ask his parents to send, he added, "If we meet up again, I might also have more books from my parents by then... and I can probably ask them to send something sci-fi related and a comic or two so you can see what they are." He found it a bit odd at first that Rain didn't know what a comic or sci-fi was but, the more he thought about it, the more he realized it actually made some sense. "Oh and um... sci-fi is genre that's usually related to science and technology in some way, usually how they effect people or society. A lot of books are a little futuristic or deal with things with space and stuff... It's a very interesting genre, sometimes a little dark though I suppose... A lot of comics I read are a little more in the sci-fi genre but they don't have to be. Comics are just books that are mainly pictures with some text to help convey a story, there's a lot more dialogue usually to accompany the images in the ones I read."
He wasn't entirely sure this was the best explanation for either things but he figured they covered the very basics. Sci-fi was a harder concept to explain to someone who had never possibly interacted with such things, especially with certain technologies since... the wizarding world did seem a bit... behind comparatively. It was like how fantasy books for him had always been fictional pieces with magic and fantastical creatures, it wasn't real but now he knew so much of that stuff was real in certain ways so it did change some of the concept of the genres. It was a lot to think about.
