Back on the train

1st September 2026
Once someone has been to Hogwarts, there was no point in trying not to mourn the place whenever one had to leave it. Sure, Juah had enjoyed the holidays a little. He had spent most of them in Finland with his mother's side of the family, catching up and trying to bridge the gap that had naturally formed between him and his friends. No matter how hard he tried, it was always the same. While they all visited the same school, they bonded, and whenever Juah came to visit, he was the only one who didn't quite seem to click. Secrets, jokes, insiders... They were things he couldn't share with them, so, frankly, he felt odd and isolated amongst them. At least that had made it easier to return to England for the last weeks, talk to his old man about school, and prepare to return to the Hogwarts Express.

After saying goodbye, he was finally back in the corridors. For a moment, it felt almost surreal, both in a good and a strange way. Hogwarts was a place that enchanted the boy deeply with its magic and all kinds of fascinating students he would like to know more about, and a part of him was grateful that his father had made him move to England in time to be invited to there. The other was still wondering sourly about how his life would've turned out if he had refused to leave Finland. So, now his heart wasn't simply torn between two, but three places and their people at once, always missing the ones where he wasn't at the time. He wondered if it would be that way with every new place he'd visit over time. Hopefully not. That must be too much yearning for a single soul.

As Juah made his way past compartments, he was trying to decide whether he should join other students or look for an empty one. Maybe talking to someone could potentially take his mind off his life and philosophy. But then again, he did intend on reading the book his father had handed him before leaving. It was on how to study German, a language he couldn't quite figure out. The trip was long, so he might as well try to understand a tiny bit of it. In order to make a decision between the two options, he promised to himself to simply take and accept the third compartment from now as his. Fate would spin its way and decide for him. The first compartment was occupied by a big group, clearly full anyway. Then came one with three people in it, still a tiny bit of space left. They were loud, exchanging stories cheerfully. His compartment, the third one, was still empty. For now, he'd sit, the book open on his lap, and learn new vocabulary.

I'm SO sorry for taking this long to put up the starter! After I finally had time, I honestly couldn't find the Hogwarts Express but now I finally did and could write it
