Coming from their cabin, Zephyr went to the area where combat training was being held. Once he received the summer camp schedule, he couldn't wait to get started. He expected the activity would be something related to wands, maybe even some practice for a few defensive spells or some sort of dueling. What he found instead was an entire open field set up for running, physical exercises, potions, and even fencing. Was it unusual for him to see those kinds of activities? For someone who grew up in the muggle world, not really. If truth be told, it was one of the activities he would be looking forward to the most. Physical activity? Oh, bring it on.

A grin appeared on his lips as soon as he arrived. There were several students already present doing some warm up exercises while the others were probably just exploring the place. For his part, he took a moment to observe the area, the running track, and the tents. This is more of his sort of thing. As much as he enjoyed magic, there were days when he needed a break from constantly thinking about spells and magic or anything else that came with being a wizard. Physical activities gave him something different to focus on, it's more satisfying this way than relying too much on magic to do everything for him. Growing up around the farm had a lot to do with that perspective.

Aelwyd Vale, their family farm was not really the sort of place he could spend the entire day just sitting around. There were plenty of other jobs that required him to be on his feet. And even if there were no assigned tasks to him, you would see him running, climbing, hiking, swimming, and anything that gave him a reason to move. While at Hogwarts, flying was obviously another favorite of his. But before any physical activities, warm up first. It didn't matter how excited he was to get on a broom or how convinced he was that he could just jump straight into whatever activity he wanted to do. Cold muscles were a stupid way to get injured, and his dad made sure he knew how much trouble an injury could cause around a farm.

Before going for a run, he started stretching. He rolled his shoulders first, then his neck and arms, and finally his legs. He cracked his knuckles and took deep breaths. “Alrighty.” Jogging was first on his list, but he had no idea how long the running portion would last or what pace they would be expected to maintain. Better to save his energy than burn himself in the first few minutes. He was also interested in trying fencing later. He would not pass an opportunity to learn that! The moving targets was interesting to him too, spells or brute force were not going to get anyone very far, he would have to think about his timing and accuracy. Hmm...tricky part.

There's also the medical tent which was expected, considering how physical the activities were going to be. Magic could fix a lot of things, but knowing how to deal with an injury without using a wand was not a bad skill to have. He bounced on his feet once he had finished stretching, feeling more awake now. He put his attention to the running track first. “Might as well start.” He came here to try different things and he was excited for all the activities. If combat training was supposed to teach them how to handle themselves when magic was not enough, then he was more than happy to find out exactly what he could do without his wand.

After a quick walk from the cabin, Thomas found himself in the area where the combat event in their schedule was meant to be heal. Now, Thomas wasn’t one to fight, at least not if he had the choice. Still, he had decided he’d give it a try and so here he was. He was pleasantly surprised when he saw that this wasn’t a duelling event, instead there were multiple activities; something he felt like he could have known earlier if he had bothered to ask.

Out of all the options available to him, he felt drawn towards the small bearing tent. Inside, he could see first aid kits, a small selection of potions, most of which he recognised thanks to a lot of time spent watching his mother brewing. He could also see strange humanoid shapes laying down. Hopefully these are just training dummies and not actually injured students. Though I guess this is Hogwarts, and the infirmary is more often than not filled with students, so it could be possible. Hopefully it’s not though.

Making his way inside the tent, his worries quickly vanished as he saw that the human shapes were nothing but slightly creepy training dummies. Slightly creepy because they were seemingly enchanted to mimic light injuries. Shallow cuts, light bruises that sort of thing. Having sufficiently looked around, Thomas took place at one of the stations, and looked at the dummy in front of him before asking out loud: “Now, what am I going to call you? Hmm… you look like... a Doug?” He pondered it a bit longer, before deciding “Yup, Doug it is!”

_____While Millie step her foot on the open field already full of physical activities, she somewhat felt refreshed that she saw an ordinary looked of activities she used to be in it. Purely leaning on their own human capability without magic been involved for once. Though she couldn't dare to say it such a long time she missed this view yet in fact it was just a year past couple of months only, but still looking at this refreshing hustle makes her lips form a slight grin.
_____Without being told, she started doing some very basics stretching from head to toe her parents always taught her before beginning some exercise, doesn't matter if it was just light jog or heavy labor. While doing so on the edge of the running laps, she also looking at others spots that include fencing, throwing on target—oh they're still using wand there, and a tent which she guess for first-aid upon remembering what the committee had planned for today.
_____Once she have done her warming-up, Millie start running on the track after tying up her hair into a messy ponytail. She wasn't a first person on the track, obviously, but somehow the girl can still catch up to the people who ran before her. Although she seems not to bother of wondering why nor even have any intention to race on them. No. Millie just ran on her own pace she thought was a normal speed yet in fact quite fast as her feet used to chasing calves and chicks that roaming around too far away from their pens while her Pa got his hands full of another in their barn. Unaware of her trained stamina, Millie just continuing her steady pace.
_____"It could be better if I can listens some musics," she murmured to no one but herself while sighing and looking up to the clear sky above, but not stopping her movement.
_____In that moment on her nth round of laps, Millie noticed an odd movement from the very corner of field that she thought was suspicious she almost stop her feet right away. She first thought that was an adult who monitoring the training so the agenda runs as smoothly as it hopes, but no. She was still a kid. Maybe another first-year since she never saw that girl ever before. At first glance, she looks as pretty as the people Millie knows has veela-blood or anything on them, yet upon the closer look that girl looks more like a dangerous predator rather than a beautiful angel.
_____And when Millie happened to passed by her for another laps, still looking at that suspicious girl, she then caught that sharp, observing eyes clearly. Straight to Millie's eyes. Looks like completely ready to strike her from the back anytime she thinks it's a time.
_____"What the ...?" Millie clasped her mouth upon muttering that out of her mouth, have strong dedication to avoid to looking back to the creepy yet pretty first-year.

Evander was standing close to the entrance next to Fredrick, looking around the giant field in front of him. There was a running track surrounding the entire area, immense amounts of compacted soil, magical targets arranged on the opposite side and a small tent, that most probably belonged to some sort of first-aid classes. "Your words about this being fun just now immediately reminded me of the running track."

Fredrick was way more excited about it than him. Evander sighed, shoving his hands in his pockets while watching other students getting ready to train. "I get the feeling that you have conveniently omitted mentioning the fact that by saying fun you mean exercise." Evander was not exactly a sporty person. He was doing okay, but running laps and exercising was definitely not what he thought he would be doing in the afternoon. But, Fredrick seemed really excited about it and it was not like he could complain much about it.

After all, he was there only because his best friend asked him to. Well...Also partially because one of his closest friends Chatt Auclair was the one arranging it. "Fine..." Evander said, stepping on the compacted soil. "I will give it a try." He pointed an accusing finger at Fredrick. "But if you make me run more than it is necessary, Red, I will tell everyone that you forced me into it. I will explicitly state how you dragged me out of a perfectly comfortable chair for such torture." He gave Fredrick a suspicious look and stretched his arms up in the air. His muscles reacted almost instantly, tensed from hours of sitting over heavy text books.

"Great. Already regretting it."He looked towards the magical targets. At least they looked more interesting than the endless, spirit-breaking circuit of running track."Though I guess shooting will be fine." He nodded towards the flickering runes in the distance. "Precision over force. Vector calculation, calculating the internal rhythm of the mana flow, hitting precisely where the ward is weakest – now we are talking my language." But then his gaze shifted past the line of archery range, settling on the clearly drawn borders of fencing area. The real smile finally appeared on his face as he watched two upperclassmen exchanging rapid flurry of elegant and rhythmic blows.

"And fencing." He nodded, changing his tone from reluctant complaining to fascination. "Now that is something I can appreciate. That is basically chess with a sharp piece of metal. Strategy, footwork and minimal amount of mindless running." He gave Fredrick a sharp elbow in the ribs, trying to wake himself up. "Come on, Red. Show me what you've got. I want to see if that aggressive stance of yours can really penetrate a defense." Evander started walking towards the exercise ground with a clear burst of energy, but immediately stopped after a few steps. He groaned quietly, feeling an ominously tight pull in his calves even before properly starting.

"Actually, warm-up first." He looked back at Fredrick, awkwardly rolling his ankles on the hard soil. "I would prefer not to find myself in a situation where I suddenly realize in the middle of a lunge that my legs have somehow forgotten how to function. I don't want to tear anything on my first day and have you carry me back to campus."

After Capture the Flag, the first thing she did upon returning home was tell her grandfather everything, and the man had concluded that perhaps she needed to move around a bit more. It hadn't exactly been the conversation she'd wanted; Trud had that peculiar knack for turning her suggestions into firm decisions. So, after hearing for several days that she needed to "strengthen her legs" and "learn not to always rely on a wand," Stelle had ended up there, gazing at a training ground with the expression of someone who had just discovered her family had conspired against her, someone who hadn't chosen this activity of her own free will. It had to be admitted that Capture the Flag had been quite an eye-opening experience. Running through the jungle, navigating obstacles, dodging creatures, and casting spells while trying not to lose sight of her companions had shown her that having a good wand didn't solve absolutely every problem. Trud, naturally, had considered this irrefutable proof that etiquette lessons never replace the need for exercise. Stelle had considered it an exaggeration.

Now she was beginning to suspect that perhaps she hadn't been entirely wrong. She positioned herself in one of the cleared areas and started with some simple stretches. She had no intention of turning this into a competition. She didn't need to prove anything to anyone, much less become an athlete overnight. Still, after a few minutes, she discovered it wasn't as terrible as she had imagined. The fresh air cleared her head, and there was something strangely pleasant about the movement.

Perhaps because, for once, there wasn't a book to memorize, a creature to study, or an assignment to complete. There was only her, the countryside, and the quiet rhythm of her own steps. After warming up, Stelle headed toward the track. She watched the other students for a few seconds before starting to jog at a moderate pace. Her blond curls swayed with each step, and although at first she wore a slightly disgruntled expression, her face gradually relaxed.
She wasn't good at running; that much became clear fairly quickly. Upon completing a section of the track, she slowed her pace and ended up walking, catching her breath. She ran a hand through her hair, pushing it away from her face, and glanced around the field. How could the others keep running without getting tired? She stood there by the side of the track, watching the training and absentmindedly fiddling with the bracelet on her wrist. Perhaps this activity wasn't going to be so terrible after all, but it was certainly more exhausting than she had anticipated.

Rain watched Diana take a moment to recognize and he was so glad when she did. He had hoped him and Diana would be able to meet again. After greeting him Diana assured Rain that he hadn’t interrupted her before she noticed how he was sweating from his jogging and made a remark about how he already participated in some of the combat training activities. With a quiet chuckle Rain responded, ”Yeah, I did a few laps around the track. I don’t really look it but I’m actually pretty athletic. I’m not too strong but I’m plenty quick with a lot of stamina”.

Then Diana invited Rain to join her with the target practice. She had been trying to figure out the pattern of the target before continuing.

“I wish I could do the actual target practice but I don’t know any spells yet. I can help you with trying to find the pattern with targets, though. Maybe a second pair of eyes will help”, Rain responded to Diana’s invite to join her. With that Rain turned back to the targets to see if he could see a pattern to them. Hmm. Rain’s eyes were tracking the targets and he began to absentmindedly speak out loud §It doesn’t seem like there’s an obvious pattern. Maybe it has something to do with what happens after they’re hit?§

Turning to Diana, Rain spoke, “Can you try hitting one? I think I need to see what they do when hit to get a better idea for any pattern they might have”.

Lia didn't know that the magical world enjoyed non-magical activities. She knew there were a lot of Muggle-borns and Half-bloods in Hogwarts, and perhaps even other schools, and it wouldn't surprise her if she saw someone with those blood statuses in the Combat Training activity that was arranged.

Different sections were set up; two of those caught her full attention. Target practice and fencing. She'd never done the latter, but she had had enough plastic sword fights with her younger brother before attending Hogwarts that she was sure she could pull it off easily. And target practice? That was just like duelling... kind of, right? Fencing apparently needed a sign-up, and, although doing it without permission sounded fun, Ophelia wasn't ready to get into trouble just a few days after coming to the camp.

The martial artist knew better than to just start doing something without a proper warm-up. Trust me when I say she'd skipped it during her training a few too many times and had strained her muscles; not fun, really. She was glad that something like combat training was planned, but disappointed that there were no dummies they could practice punches with. That'd be quite fun in a magical world, in her opinion. Walking up to the warm-up section, she encountered her cabin-mate, Zephyr, "Oh, hi! Didn't know you were here, too." she said as she started to stretch.

It felt good. Really good, actually, for Lorelei to leave her wand in her trunk and head to the latest camp activity with nothing magical to rely on. Perhaps it was her mostly muggle upbringing, or her history in ballet, but Lorelei believed wholeheartedly that there was something incredible about what she could accomplish with only her natural strength.

She arrived at the track just as dawn was breaking, dressed in comfortable athletic clothing with her hair pulled back into a tight ponytail. It wasn’t cold, necessarily, but the air was brisk enough to tighten her muscles. She knew the feeling well and figured she should begin her workout by jogging around the mostly empty track.

Lorelei made sure not to over-do her warmup, keeping a measured pace until her body felt warm enough to stretch. She walked to the clearing bordering the track, adding a little extra bounce to her step to keep the blood flowing. From there, she began a series of movements so practised they appeared almost choreographed.

None of it required active thought or concentration. This was something she’d been doing since the age of two, and it was ingrained in her body. Her leg holds, lunges, splits, and deep pliés flowed perfectly into one another, stretching her inner thighs, calves, and about a dozen other muscles throughout her body. She finished, finally, with a series of back stretches, using the weights in the area to mimic a Roman chair before moving through downward dog and child’s pose.

She’d thought the experience would be boring without music playing in the background, but it had been kind of nice to focus entirely inward on her body, without any other distractions. She felt fantastic.

Lorelei rolled her shoulders back, appreciating the sensation of a limber body. It was only then, for the first time that day, that she really examined her surroundings. She noticed a portion of the training area she hadn’t seen before, apparently set up for fencing. She paused, tilting her head slightly as she watched the people practising there.

It looked like quite a bit of fun, but mostly it looked intimidating to Lorelei. She chose to wait on practising herself, for now, but didn’t want to rule out the activity just yet. She tried to stay as inconspicuous (and as non-creepy) as possible, but found herself watching the other students’ techniques anyway. She took in the footwork, the precision, and the sound of the blades glancing off of each other. It was mesmerizing.

As Rain explained that he didn't know any spells yet but he could still help her watch the targets Diana listened thoughtfully. Her gaze returned to the enchanted targets as he began studying them alongside her. "That's alright. I think a second pair of eyes might actually help." She watched as one of the targets slowly drifted across the field and followed it's movements as Rain spoke in a language that Diana couldn't understand but she got the feeling that he was wondering aloud whether what happened after being hit might be connected to the pattern. Diana hadn't considered that. "Hmm..." she murmured as she slightly tilted her head. "That's possible. The instructions did say that the targets become harder to hit if someone casts repeatedly in succession. Maybe there's something else they do after being hit, too."

Diana nodded at Rain's suggestion before shifting her attention toward one of the stationary targets first. If they wanted to see what would happen after the target is hit, starting at one that wasn't moving seemed like the simplest way to test the idea. "Alright. I'll try this one." Diana raised her wand and carefully aimed at the stationary target. She took a moment to focus before casting. "Flipendo!" A blue light shot out of her wand and struck the target knocking it backwards. Diana's eyes immediately followed it and paid close attention to the section that she'd hit and the way the target reacted. She waited a moment to see whether anything else would happen before she looked back at Rain. "Did you notice anything?" she asked as she lightly gestured toward the target. "Maybe you're onto something." Her gaze then returned to the other enchanted targets and as she considered his idea her curiosity grew. "If we can figure out what changes after they're hit, perhaps we can work out how to predict the moving ones."

Something Theodore would never admit was being worried. He'd never actually been worried, except the time his childhood best friend, Kazimir, had left him. He never found out why, and after a few weeks, he stopped trying to understand why. Kazimir was the only friend Theodore had had in his childhood, and when he left him, Theodore felt lost for the first time in his life. He was worried he'd done something wrong, because if he hadn't, why would the other boy leave him? So, no, he didn't want to get worried anymore, because he thought there was no point in overthinking things that were yet to happen, or had already happened; you couldn't change it then, anyway.

What he did admit, privately, was his protectiveness. He grew up getting taught manners and hitting punching bags; grew up with his father standing in front of his mother whenever she had a disagreement with a family member or stranger, protecting her; grew up with his mother gently offering comfort to her younger siblings. Although he found it difficult to do the latter, the former had somewhat influenced him. The urge to protect others became strong, and he was sure he'd drown in guilt if he failed to do that.

One thing he was sure would help protect others was first aid. Theodore didn't come off as a softie, but he wasn't a troublemaker either; for now, he'd managed to keep his composed and polite personality with him. But he knew some things had to be done. He couldn't protect ten people at the same time, no matter how strong or fast he was, there would always be someone who was injured -he hated the thought, but he knew it was the truth- and he wanted to be able to help that person, as well.

When he heard about combat training being included in the summer camp, he didn't show any interest in going; well, merely because he didn't want to go. But as he was walking in the campgrounds of Hogwarts and enjoying the fresh air, his eyes landed on the first-aid training part. Gauze, bandages, slings, and such. He knew there were healing spells they ought to learn at Durmstrang, but it didn't hurt to know your way around medical supplies, especially in real life, if your wand was broken. Theodore shook his head, not wanting to think about situations where he needed to use the knowledge he was to learn now.

His legs brought him to the first-aid training section. There were a few people there, but Theodore had no intention to socialize. He sat next to a training dummy with a few minor cuts and, although he wasn't sure if they'd magically heal with every step, started to clean the 'wound' and bandage it after putting gauze on it. He felt stupid for caring for a dummy right now, but he knew they weren't supposed to injure someone intentionally so that they could take care of them. Would've been stupid of the organizers if they were allowed to do that.
